BUGOFF:So by your own reasoning if the lockdown is extended by say a month or 2;when it's eventually lifted this crowd won't be around and the virus would have been eradicated by then? Whao! What a well reasoned position. |
espn:Facemask, testing and contact tracing. Those are the things that would work. Coming out today,95% of people outside are putting on a type of face covering. This would do more than 2 years of lockdown ever can. When you next tell people they can be tested in centres close to them, people would rush to know their status. Once u know the people with the virus, you can vigorously trace them. You isolate them and continue the cycle. Anyone that believes that Covid 19 would disappear, even if you lockdown or social distance from now till kingdom come,is a joker. It's only a vaccine that can be the magic wand. But every country, including the ones with deficit leadership can at least do those 2 things till we reach vaccine or treatment stage. |
Think out of the box,our leaders refuse to think. That is the reason the white man always derides us as a people, some still believing today that the their brain is superior to that of the blacks. It was obvious from day 1 that lockdown and social distancing won't work in Nigeria, mainly out of poverty and our still low level of development,in terms of infrastructure. So what are leaders supposed to do? Day and night they would deprive themselves of sleep, strategizing with their policy thinkers and advisers on what to do to combat this disease in our peculiar environment. But no,they just copy the West,go to sleep and work the usual 10am-4pm. Face mask for eg has been pretty effective in it's compliance. Why not do the next very workable and effective thing: vigorous testing and contact tracing. But,no,we hear lockdown and social distancing and we follow suit, then when others are easing the lockdown because their numbers are decreasing,we also largely cancel ours, despite our own numbers skyrocking! What a farce. |
iamadonis2:Countries with numbers hundreds of times greater than Nigeria's are reopening because because perpetual lockdown is not sustainable anywhere in the world. Lockdown or open up,Nigeria's numbers will continue going up for sometime as more people get tested. The only thing that would help us is to hope the white man,as usual, finds a way to defeat this Covid, either with a vaccine (the best)or a treatment. |
iamadonis2:Countries far worse than our numbers are reopening because perpetual lockdown is simply untenable. |
Seun360:Dindirin. Sense left you years ago. |
Xisnin:The killing cannot be that simple and 'motiveless'. It means they must have had a prior reason to kill them, asking for ransome was just for them to feel smart, that they achieved their primary aim of killing those people and collected money in the bargain. Like making them feel like 'smart dons'. No kidnapper won collect ransome and still kill his victim, victims in this case. One victim could accidentally die as a result of underlying health issue made worse by the kidnapping ordeal or the sheer trauma of the ordeal itself. But wasting 3 kidnapped lives has a reason far above ransome and it must surely have been the primary reason. |
Toma2:Your head is there. By the time normal operations resume, the new fares for short distance travel won't be reduced while that for long distance would go up. By then they would achieve their long held, openly known plan to make CMS 500 or at best 400. Corona is just the hell sent excuse they want to use to achieve it. |
ninety5:That people are reacting to this childisclearly made up tale is the shock here. |
cheango:Ok,sorry for saying you are jobless. So let's argue with points. First and most importantly, the reality is that a year and even 2 from now, there won't be eradication of Corona virus, unless a vaccine is found. (2)Another fact is that, try as much as they can, total lockdown cannot work in Nigeria and I personally even debate the assertion by some that without the lockdown the number of cases would have been more.We cannot assert what we cannot prove by a scientific study or case control. But let's leave that for a whole discussion of its own. (3)The Covid 19,just like Influenza(flu or common cold to some)has come to stay with us till a vaccine is found. (4)The death rate at about 1 % is even less than that of the flu.Covid 19 from all empirical evidence is fatal in 95% of cases mainly in people with underlying, serious health challenges. Must we then lockdown till kingdom come, till a cure is found, while the lockdown brings about other serious economic and even health challenges? Though unproven,I honestly believe many Nigerians, even without isolation, are recovering from the virus. N.B,no treatment exists for Covid-19,even in the isolation centres. What is done is just supportive management, hoping your body fights it off with time. Many people end up fighting it off, again just like your common cold where you use vitamin C and feel it's that that cures you of that catarrh, sneezing and body ache, when honestly it does little. What I personally believe should have been our approach from day 1 was this:lock our air and land borders for 1month;enforce the use of facemasks by ALL and aggressively use all the money garnered to get test kits. Facemasks, aggressive testing are the keys and not any ill-thought about, poorly managed and half hazard lockdown.Till tomorrow I will continue saying it:to me,the lockdown has been a disaster on all fronts no matter how it is spinned. |
Why do I have this eerie feeling that majority of people that are in support of a lockdown extension are jobless,so they enjoy seeing other employed people at home,so no people can stop looking down on them? It's like when a House's electricity supply is cut off due to inability to pay bills. When the general electricity power goes off, such people feel sadistically very happy because no one can then differentiate between those owing and those that pay their bills. This is the case of this Op. Even advanced countries with far well off citizens are easing down the lockdown despite still recording impressive infection figures, but here this one wants it to continue just because of joblessness. Shameful. |
Osagyefo98:Where is the contradiction,?Olodo. As a journalistic medium, they asked people around what they thought could have led to his suicide, they speculated hardship arising from the lockdown,so it was so reported. Punch then asked the police, they said they are aware but cannot say the reason till they do an investigation.Which is proper and which the newspaper also reported. But even at the end of the day the police can only also go to people that knew him and ask them same question punch asked;"what do they think could have led him to suicide"?Then the Police will conclude based mainly on those same sources and further investigation into the man's history, which at the end may likely turn out to be frustration with how his life is going, due to suffering,as a result of or exarcebated by the lockdown. So what is the contradiction there? Or you want us to start reading TheNation, which is not even up to standard of some blogs these days. |
Funny Op. Punch has no obligation to publish her reply. If she felt so strongly against the article and was hell-bent on having her views heard, she should have taken at worse a 1/4 page paid rejoinder. I don't think that would be more than 50k-80k which is less than pocket money to a woman of such standing. Keyamo that was so insulted didn't even reply,it's her that is isn't a party to the issue at all. |
FanRong:You will soon go full psycho because I am sure you are already at some stage of it. You must have lied your way through whatever levels of education you attained because only an inbred liar would see his lies pointed out to him and he still continues defending it and trying to insult his betters. Your fake story has given out your whole being. |
Shibaraba:My God! Even a 1 year old won't be this dense in thinking. |
FanRong:That is how you people just disgrace your lineage. You are just upgrading your st upidity. |
This man just belittled that office and has given further ammunition to people who feel and know he is Ghanduje's puppet. He should have kept quiet and maintained a "speech distance" from anything Ghanduje and his goverment says or does. |
FanRong:You deserve more than thunder. Instead of acknowledging you posted a fake story, apologize and exonerate your self, you are being boldfaced and belligerent. You just made a complete fu of yourself. |
DEROX:So a grown up can have this kind of awkward mindset? He didn't use his connection to help your dad study medicine,so he is a bad person? What a shame. |
IlovePMB:The videos have been deleted by the same fraudsters and charlatans probably because they realized all what he was prophesizing then have been off the mark or even exactly opposite to each item he claimed to have prophesized on. |
Fraudster with his fraudulent sheeple. |
Another man impregnated you, according to your story, yet for good six years you continued lying to your husband that the child is his. You deserve all what you are getting, assuming this your story is true because it shows your type can kill a man. Many men have lost their lives and their mind after discovering that the child they thought was theirs for several years was fathered by another man. What you are experiencing is called Karma. |
Very sensible and honestly the best next line of action.
The total lockdown failed. |
Nigerians are indeed the encouragers of bad governance. It's amazing that despite the severe hunger many are going through, with no single help from the government, people are still not trooping out to massively protest this lockdown that has only made both the economic suffering and ironically the impact worse. It also stems from the fact that most elected officials got in because people's votes don't matter. If many of them know that their entering into office would depend on the actual votes of the people, then by now the lockdown would have been reviewed. After all in Nigeria,a man can win a governorship office via a SC ruling, despite having an aggregate vote tally far greater than the number of people that actually came out for voting. How do you expect such a person for eg to even consider what suffering people are passing through and whether some of them are dying in their homes just because of hunger and hardship arising from not being able to access healthcare or buy drugs to sustain them. |
They should brace up for more sackings. Everything is on lockdown, meanwhile you are not supporting families and particularly businesses as other countries you fo olishly copied the lockdown from are doing. How does a business in the non essential sector sustain it's business and pay workers when it hasn't seen a single income for a month and counting? It simply isn't possible. |
adoreyou:It does because the op emphasized his/her Christianity while helping his Moslem neighbours. So the relevant question should be,how many fellow christians and atheist has he/she helped. Otherwise he/she is using the anonymity of Nland to make a foo lish point. I bet if this is tried on Twitter or Facebook with no anonymity status, would be made to run away from those forums for a long time. Why not simply say I helped my community without my own and the helpees religion,if he/she doesn't have a sinister motive. |
Greatzeus:Thank you. A top Covid PTF member giving out priviledged information even attaching his name to it. Only a foo l would not know this is fake. |
Bigleaf1006:It's important that it's made official. Some farmers have lands at only motorable distances from their abode. Making it official gives them the freedom to move to and from their farms. Same with their workers and also directly or indirectly gives those involved in sale or distribution of agricultural feeds or equipment the security to open shops. This is not directed at the farmer with his plot close to his house or in the same village, though they too should benefit from the ease of movement. In some parts of the North with their large landmass, some farmers with farms even in the same local maybe equivalent to travelling from Oshodi to Ajah for eg. |
In 2020 I still find it embarrassingly funny that people jubilate the paying of salaries some days before the end of the month. It's just so embarrassing and seeing a state governor,a supposed leader doing and celebrating it makes it all the more ridiculous. If you receive your salary 24th of a month, next month you still receive it on 24th,same 30days. If u also receive it earlier you also start your expenses earlier,so it doesn't make any sense at all. Pay it 13th,10th,24th,it still falls down to every same monthly salary,30-31days. |
Lockdown that has even made overcrowding worse. Why not simply allow people go about their businesses, but insist on facemask wearing in public and aggressive large scale testing of people. Facemask, testing is the only thing that would work here. The only thing the lockdown has succeeded in doing is creating hardship and probably other illnesses for people. |
SweetCunt97:Emotions over science and commonsense. Crucify her, crucify her! Yes,the woman maybe crucified, but for killing her housemaid and staging it,I don't agree she did it. If everyone were to be judged based on social "media jury",then I doubt there would be need for autopsy because I am sure,if a proper autopsy is done and it came out she died by strangulation, your type would still spin it to say she was strangled by the woman who now staged the suicide. Until autopsy proves the lady killed the housemaid,I still refuse to believe she did, based simply on the say so of the late maid's her relations and social media warriors. |
