Interesting correlation. The more religious countries also have more crime. Yes. R. Kelly is a musical genius! The only problem I have with him is that he loves sex songs too much! Tpbm has been to church today. |
If it's non-alcolohic I'll store it in a refridgerator and drink it later. What would you do if you were made the executive governor of Lagos State for a week? |

I'm sorry, but I can't die for anything or anyone. I have only one life to live, and I don't believe in any afterlife. |
Romance is the only game in which every man, woman, boy or girl can be a major player; the only movie in which everyone can be a star. Romance is an activity that almost all of us want to participate in. Of all the topics that we might discuss on this forum, romance is the only one in which we are not spectators. We are all capable of being active participants in romance, dating, love. |

I think the reason it looks dull here is that there are security measures built into the note so that, if you try to scan it or copy it, your copy would look very different from the real thing. |
It's very simple. She's a loose girl who has no qualms about using her sexuality to get what she wants. She likes you, feels you're rich, and wants to 'play' with you. I think it is also possible that she's being encouraged to do this to secure your business for her company. |

I wrote this on the 6th of April, 2004 Predicting a Google Messenger: Advice for Google I am neither a business analyst nor a google insider, just a compulsive google user and a young student of e-business. Do I have the right to give advice to the internet's hottest company? No, but I will anyway. That's what bloggers do! My opinions will often be quite accurate, but then they might be wrong at other times, hence the comment section. So here's some advice for Google!
[li]Google is right to move into areas which put it into direct competitiion with portal sites such as Yahoo and MSN, because there is no other viable choice. Yahoo used to run their searches using google's infrastructure, now they have committed their own search engine. Microsoft, which owns MSN.com, intends to play a Netscape on Google by developing their own search technology and integrating it into the next major Windows version ("we will catch them", said Bill Gates about google).[/li][li]Therefore, GMail is a perfect plan announced at a perfect time. However, I do not think they really need to have started out by offering 1gb storage. They probably should have started with a smaller number (50mb? 200mb?) which would still have seemed enormous to free e-mail users, and gradually increased the space they offer over time, making waves each time they do so. Anything above 50mb hurts other free e-mail providers; anything above 50mb hurts paid e-mail providers and even some web hosts! Did google really need to start with the vaporware practice at this time? I think not! Google needs not have made people realise that gmail is real before it was ready to start signing people up.[/li][li]Now the next thing is this: google needs to provide a messaging service for its gmail account holders. How hard is this? The answer is, not hard at all. Google just needs to set up an extremely scalable, distributed Jabber server and configure it to use the same user authentication database as gmail. Google might also want to configure a free Jabber client for gmail users (Google Messenger?), and figure out if it needs to serve contextual ads in the chat client. The advantage of using Jabber is that Jabber is an Open standard, so gmail users can chat with those who use jabber accounts on other domains. Plus, there are ready-made solutions for connecting Jabber networks with proprietary IM networks.[/li][li]Google is wrong to drop the Google Directory, based on the Open Directory Project (dmoz.org) from the home page, without offering a replacement. Google's 'similar pages' feature doesn't work as accurately as finding other links in the same Open Directory category. It has always been nice to be able to conduct a search and go straight to the Directory category that is most closely related to the search.[/li][li]In the same vein, I believe that Google is absolutely wrong to put Froogle on the home page. There's no such thing as "objective product search"(aka Froogle). Besides, Froogle is at the time of this posting still marked "BETA". Or what do you think?[/li]
Googlescape, GOOGLE!, GBay, Googlesoft is a really hilarious web page that talks about 4 possible directions for the future of google, parodied after Netscape, Yahoo!, EBay and Microsoft. |
I wish you knew that she can't come onliine till about 2pm due to time zone difference. |
Trying to choosing a domain name for your new business or website? Here are some factors to consider:
[li]Make sure the domain name you use is not someone else's registered trademark.[/li] [li]Prefer shorter names to longer ones.[/li] [li]Avoid domain names with ambiguous or multiple spellings, unless the domain names corresponding to all the ossible misspellings of yours are available, and you are willing to buy them![/li] [li]Names with ambigous spellings include server4u.com vs servers4you.com vs. serverforyou.com vs. serverforu.com, want2buy.com vs. wanttobuy.com or any names including the number 0(zero), easily confused with capital 'o'.[/li] [li]Separate multi-word domain names with hyphens rather than underscores and register the alternate (non-hyphenated) form if possible[/li] [li]If you have long-term plans for your site, a really unique domain name will help with differentiating your site.[/li] [li]Make every effort to choose a .com domain for any business website, .net domain for network and internet service providers, .edu for educational institutions, and .org for non-profit organizations.[/li] [li]Special note: www.something.com domains are easiest to remember and better respected by internet users.[/li] [li]For a website that belongs to a legally registered organization or business, choose a name that is related to your organization's name.[/li] [li]Finally, be patient: take your time and generate lots of domain names, and immediately use a service like CheckDomain.com to check availability, until you find the perfect one.[/li]
Originally posted on seunosewa.com, May 25, 2004 What do webmasters need to know when trying to select the perfect domain names? Hello MissTFS, Welcome to Nairaland, home of Nigerians and all friends of Nigeria! Seun. |
What the guy has done is actualy illegal and Globacom can get the domain from him without paying one kobo to his pocket by complaining to ICANN (the body overseeing domain name administration). Try registering a domain name with Google or Microsoft in it and see what will happen. If someone is squatting on a name that represents your business name or trademark, you can lodge a complaint and get it back without paying the person. Domain names like VIP.com can be sold for such huge amounts because they represent English Words and not the trademarks of some company. |
Livecareer.com offers the best free personality test I've found on the Internet. Here are some excerpts from the report I got when I first took the test: https://www.nairaland.com/img/livecareer.png Highest Interest Scores Your highest score was on Administration, which means that you enjoy the financial or day-to-day operations of a business or institution, supervising the activities of others, planning work schedules, and maintaining records. You also scored highly on Science, indicating that you enjoy working with abstract ideas, scientific equipment, and mathematical logic and reasoning to solve practical or abstract problems. Your high score on the Assertive scale means that you prefer working situations in which it is appropriate to assert authority over others and to direct and monitor their work. Lowest Interest Scores Your lowest interest score was on Industrial Art. Even though you may be a creative person, you would probably be unhappy in careers that involve making or repairing things using machinery, or by hand. You also showed low interest in Writing, so you wouldn’t be fulfilled in careers where the majority of your time was spent in creative or technical writing, such as writing advertising copy, news articles, technical manuals, etc. Finally, your low score on Art means that you wouldn’t enjoy careers that involve performing on stage, creating visual artwork, or other means of artistic expression. If you're an introspective person, a test like this doesn't tell you anything you don't already know. It only forces you to acknowledge the truth and run with it - by choosing only jobs that are in line with what you enjoy! You can take the test at www.livecareer.com (100 multiple-choice questions). You are encouraged to report your findings here, just as I have done. |
The idea behind the practice is that both the man and the woman are testing each other. The man is testing the woman to know if she can get pregnant. The woman is testing the man to see if he can father a child naturally. |
Oops, we've gone offtopic. Apologies to everyone! |
These are really beautiful, K2DaC. Well done! |
Oh dear, how am i going to get married. I don't care that my room is a mess (it is a mess right now), I have terrible teeth (I have got 5 pulled out and I still have more dental appointments), and I am reputed to be arrogant (always wanting to do things my way, not deferring to elders) |
He didn't condemn prostitutes and cheating tax-collectors either. He was a "friend of sinners", but that doesn't mean he condoned their sin. he expected them to "go and sin no more!" |
Like maybe the new Christianity is based primarily on the Old Testament unlike the one I knew which saw the new Testament/COvenant as superceding the old one. Considering how Malachi in the Old Testament is used as proof that tithing is compulsory for Christians today, and how someone is using the Isrealite wars as proof that God supports war, I think my fears are not ungrounded. |
We are with you all the way. Trust your judgement and do whatever you feel needs to be done to help the girl. Good Samaritans like you are the angels that make the world a better place for the underprivileged. On behalf of the girl in question and the Nairaland community: |
Yes, but, think about it. There are so many living sperms (and eggs) that go to waste regularly. Millions of cells in your body that die every day. And there is a point in the development of the embryo (through fusion of a living sperm and a living ovum) when it consists of just one cell. At that point (say maybe the sperm was a from a hostile source) most people might have reason to get rid of it and not feel guilty. At that point, the single celed baby might be in a test tube, in case of in-vitro fertilisation, and the parents might say "we don't want the baby anybody" and the "baby" will have to be destroyed. So I think it's fuzzy, really. |
Propre says he's not actually asking for our advice, but just asking for our view on the idea of lending to friends. So the thread has to be locked, lest we annoy him with our eager but unsolicited advice. |
When I was at school, a friend of mine told me of a practice in his extended family. When he finds a girl he wants to marry, he is expected to sleep with her to try to get her pregnant. If she gets pregnant, then they go ahead and get married. If not, he dumps her and looks for a more 'fruitful' woman to be his wife. I have heard stories about women telling their sons, "don't get married to any lady if you haven't tested her to see if she can become pregnant - because I want grandchildren!" On the other hand, there's the orthodox religious view that sex comes after marriage. And that if you, as a girl, must have sex, then don't get pregnant by any means and disgrace your family. But this "no premarital sex" idea seems to be giving way to the idea that you can, and should have sex with your fiance/fiancee, and only get married when a pregnancy is on the way. I belong to the school of thought that sex and pregnancy should come after marriage, and that if after marriage your spouse is found to be infertile you should go and adopt a child. What about you? Ladies, will you wait until you are pregnant for a man before getting married to him, to assure yourself that he's capable? Men, would you delay marriage with your woman until she conceives, to assure yourself that she is fertile? |
Hello, Some people are concerned that the addictive nature of video games can cause avid gamers to neglect their jobs, their studies, their families, etc. Others argue that video games help gamers to develop their minds and reflexes and so the benefits far outwiegh the risks. My question is for those of us who own consoles (XBox, PS2, Gamecube, GBA), have them around us (owned by a friend or roommate), regularly go to video gaming centers to play console games, or play PC games on desktop computers or phones. I'd like to know how many hours per week you spend playing games. Thanks. |
I am inclined to agree with you, though the bible doesn't say whether an unborn child can be 'killed' or not. |
