Watching the final yesterday, i could only for the umpteenth time praise the lord we did not play that Egyptian team. A colleague here says that the only team capable of beating the pharaohs did not get to the final. I know he did not mean the super fowls. WHen we asked which team that was, all he did was smile. I feel Egyptian now. |
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ![]() |
Now that is a question |
Of the two matches left to be seen in the tourney, i dont see any easy Match. I see a scenario where one of them might even go into penalties. But i feel so sorry for Ivory coast. somehow, i am just not moved for Ghana at all. They were not fantastic, it was just that they had a lions heart against our super fowls. |
In keeping with the topic of the thread, we used to have a secretary in my office and my oh my everyone knew she was sleeping with her boss, we all felt she was being used becuase the man had such a bad reputation for skirts and their contents, but later we started getting feelers she was sleeping with her immediate past boss. The catch of it all is that she is married with kids!!! And her hubby treats her like a queen. |
@ rilwan01, do we need to take sides with the randy bosses who have no self control? true some ladies are way off the mark when it comes to dressing, but that is no excuse for randy bosses whose D**Ks do their thinking for them to be what they are , Plain Randy |
I don't know why some guys are querying this thread, There was a clean out of my office septic tank some months back and according to the Admin report there were almost an equality in the quantity of faeces as there was condoms. Pray, what do condoms have to do with offices? Go figure. |
As at 2006, they had an old keeper who made some fantastic saves to take them to the finals. I think he even made some penalty saves as well ( i need to confirm that, as i not absolutely sure). so the fact that they have not heard good keepers is almost ruled out. i believe Barry gave a good account of himself in matches prior to this. and lest we forget, a keeper is only as good as his defense. Ask Oliver Khan and Cudicinni and you'll get a resounding yes. |
Did you say basket? he was something really worse. we might have had a respectable scoreline if barry ended that game. |
It was obviously not his day, just coming back from Injury he was off form and sorts. |
Honestly, it just goes to show that playing as a team is the main recipe for success not having super stars. Every member of that team play for the other team members. When i look at that team i remember Seville of spain. I want the cup to go to Cameroon though. |
I was stunned, stupefied, surprised and , (in fact i am speechless now) as i saw Egypt wallop Ivory Coast yesternite. I could only thank God that it was not our Super Fowls that was at the other end of that beating. It was too frightening to see the bunch of Drogba, The Toure Brothers and all reduced to spectators, Haba !!!!!!!!!!! not even a 2:1 margin or something else. 4:1!!!!! abeg make una thank God say we don comot before anybody humiliate us like that jare. |
"Looking back over the years that we've been together, I can't help but wonder:, What was I thinking?" "Congratulations on your wedding day!, Too bad no one likes your wife." "How could two people as beautiful as you, have such an ugly baby?" "I've always wanted to have someone to hold, someone to love, After having met you, I've changed my mind." "I must admit, you brought Religion in my life, I never believed in Hell until I met you." "As the days go by, I think of how lucky I am, that you're not here to ruin it for me." "As you grow older, Mum, I think of all the gifts you've given me. Like the need for therapy, " "Thanks for being a part of my life!!!, I never knew what evil was before this!" "Before you go,, I would like you to take this knife out of my back. You'll probably need it again." "Someday I hope to get married, but not to you." "You look great for your age, Almost Lifelike!" "When we were together, you always said you'd die for me, Now that we've broken up, I think it's time you kept your promise." "I knew the day would come when you would leave me for my best friend, So here's his leash, water bowl and chew toys." "We have been friends for a very long time, What do you say we call it quits?" "I'm so miserable without you, It's almost like you're here." "Congratulations on your new bundle of joy, Did you ever find out who the father was?" "You are such a good friend that if we were on a sinking ship and there was only one life jacket, I'd miss you heaps and think of you often." "Your friends and I wanted to do something special for your birthday, So we're having you put to sleep." "Your kisses are sweet, your hugs are passionate, But compared to your sister, they're only second rate." |
now thats a comment |
We all know the unpredictability of life. Ronaldo has started well this season, i hope he ends well. However, i hope he truly matures into the best in the world. For now, it seems to me that if an England based player would win the FIFA player of the year award it has to be him. No player in europe (where the major considerations are made) has been in the same vein of form. As per that free kick being the best as someone said , Highly disputable by me cause i have seen free kicks and have seen free kicks. i was highly disappointed by SAF's comments about that. The major trumpeter in Ronaldo's cause has been SAF, and while i accept the fact that you have to urge your wards on, i think it is not too good to over hype them, we all saw how disappointed Ronny was st the last FIFA gala, not just to losing out to Kaka but being beaten to third place by Messi. i think that is what is urging him on this season. Come end of the 2007/2008 season though, i see a thin line between him and Adebayor for the PFA player of the year with Fabregas not too far behind. By the way Fabregas started this season in superb form too, his inconsistency in goal is just an indication of how Arsenal has improved over time ( they dont need him to score all the time although he still gets his goals when it matters). I am a UNITED FAN and i hope we still have domestic relevance in terms of titles at the end of the season but if Manchester united does not win the UCL this year and Portugal does not do well at the Euros, Ronaldo's form would count for nothing at the next FIFA gala. 'it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye than for an England based footballer to be FIFA player of the year ' believe me. |

Lumzi:Na true, No be beans to dey chop bean oooooooooooooo ![]() |
I rest my case. I agree that over time, Henry might be looked at as the better of the 2. You are such an intelligent guy to chat with, wish everyone on this forum are like that. Long live HENRY , Long live RUUDY. I wish he was still at United. |
ritchboy:That is the crux of this discussion ain't it? No doubt Henry is a good player, but at the moment, RUUD just gets it going with his goals. Henry is past his Prime, even Wenger stated that as the cause for having him sold. RUUD still has a couple of years maybe 2 if he continues like this. What do you think? |
I never had a belief in this super eagles cause i feel they lack the character of champions, i dont see any dearth in talents as opposed to what most people feel, what is lacking is the character that precedes the presence of champions. All the change we need is in the mentality and the team would go places. Then would someone please tell Vogts not to start Kanu again. Does he not know who a super sub is? He nees to see the Nigeria - Zimbabwe game at the last Nations cup for a tip on Kanu's role in the team. My humble submission |
I feel it is nice to revisit this thread considering the fact that these two great players have changed platforms for us to evaluate them. I have always held the believe that RUUD is the man for me and i don't think that believe would ever change. He is one striker who would change leagues and make an instant impact wherever he goes. RUUD has been the king in Holland, England and now in Spain (pichichi). It is even frightening to know that he leads the goal scorers chat in his first season in these leagues. Henry no doubt is a player a coach would love to have around, but have you seen the change in Arsenal since he left? i am sure that Barca would be playing better and winning more matches if they have all their guys back and Henry goes to his rightful place on the bench. The truth is Henry is past his time, and if consideration of his performance in Italy is to be reckon with , My vote stays with the reinging Pichichi. Ruud Van the Man. Barca would probably be leading the table in spain had Etoo not been injured, i even think there is a link in Etoo and ROnaldinho's form. they bring the best out of each other and the team. |
Beans contains amino acids, we all react differently to these amino acids. This issue was also a topic of discussion one day way back at Ife when i was in school, and i can remember the lecturer explaining that it is not just the amino acids we react to but also the preservative chemicals on the bean seeds, thus there is a need for thorough washing of the beans before cooking them, and if you can afford to, boil for about 5 minutes and discard the brownish water extract from it, then continue your cooking. you would have gotten rid of the chemical. Sometimes, i heard that the water turns blue litmus red, depending on the concentration of the chemical in the beans. Remember the days of the killer beans ![]() ??There is nothing wrong with eating beans anyway, it is one of my favorite meals, as long as you take the steps i described above to make sure you consuming safe food. Do not just eat beans, eat it wisely. ![]() |
It would not be a bad idea to make me EFCC chairman. Kai!!!!!!!!!!! Enough arrest in the first 3 hours in office. It would be a whirl wind. ![]() |
Even if Ronaldo had won everything in football last season, the award would still have gone to Kaka, with Messi coming second. Ronaldo coming third in the polls is a testament to the fact that the English league is only popular in these parts, seasoned coaches and professionals who vote the awardees have a very good look at other leagues and rate them higher than the EPL. Has Ronny played better than an average Henry at Arsenal? a definite no , but with Henry's outstanding qualities and talents, did he ever win it? Tell me any player from that league who has ever won it, then i would make a case for Ronaldo, Rooney, Fabregas, Adebayor, Drogba, Gerard, Lampard or whoever from there to win it next time. Messi carried Barca on his shoulders for most parts of last season with Ronaldinho not in form and Eto'o out injured. DOnt forget the maradona style goal he scored in the Kings' cup. Barca faltered whenever he faltered but even as an ardent Man U fan, it is only the truth to admit that Ronaldo's best games were those when all the other big boys at United where well and fit. His most outstanding performance was against ROMA (a la 7:1) but even Evra and Alan Smith scored in that match. 'It was a case of grab yours if you can' |
Your illiteracy knows no bounds, how can Johnny Evans Equate to Manchester United? |
Country - Ivory Coast , Clubside - Al Haly (Egypt) FIFA rankings can be as dubious as the Afican footballer of the year award. |
Preach it zhetoes , ![]() |
I have seen many spectacular freekicks in my lifetime, but Roberto Carlos' freekick against France in the FIFA centennial game was stunning and was hailed by pundits as the best in the world. the ball had a very perfect curve and left the entire wall stranded and Keeper Barthez useless, I still see that as one of the very best i have ever seen. Honestly it is really difficult picking the best. |
bibiking1:bibiking1, i would rather tell my kids how myopic, unintelligent, arrogant and stupid you are, rather than tell them anything about Abiola, you go about judging dead men, Others would judge you when you are gone too. Obviously you are deluded. I can't point to anything endearing about Abiola that i posted on this thread neither have i given any indication that my posts on him are borne out of a personal feeling about him. So i wonder how your fish brain came about its conclusion. we need to purge the society of vermins like you. |
If some decades ago, this sort of question was asked about Jerry Rawlings in Ghana, we might have heard this type of replies we see on this thread. The man was in and out of power, planned coups, carried out mass slaughters, plundered the Ghanian Economy, murdered sleep. But right now, even an average Ghanian would whoop your ass if you talk rubbish about this man cause he set them on the path to recovery. I have said in my earlier post on this thread that we cannot judge Abiola by what he was pre June 12 , He could have turned out to be worse than Abacha, IBB and OBJ put together and he could have turn out to be better than Awolowo (if he had been a good president) or whoever. Various circumstances we find ourselves in definitely dictates how we would react to situations. Afterall, the everwise biblical Solomon turned out to be the greatest Adulterer of all time. Abiola this, , Abiola that, Let sleeping dogs sleep. ![]() |
