You have the right to your opinion but this quote is fake, stop spreading lies.

You said Simeone literally said it, can you post a video of that? Or at least an article from a reputable site like skysports or BBC. Surely Simeone can't make such a statement and the only evidence would be fan boy pages on twitter.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.marca.com/en/football/spanish-football/2019/05/10/5cd5cd38ca47417c3b8b4577.html

That's your response. Simeone made the statement on this thread at the last world cup. It was a private conversation he heard which was leaked. Amidst uproar from Argentines he made clarifications as indicated in the story on the link above. You can as well google the story yourself.

Messi is definitely the most talented player the world has ever seen. With his low centre of gravity that kid is dynamite but greatest player the world has ever seen.... NOT AT ALL.

Whenever Messi wins something with Argentina or let's say outside a Barca shirt we can then start that discuss. Any player that cannot adapt to other teams and have the same impact can't be the greatest at least for now. Argentina has changed coaches like underwears to bring out the best in messi, changed format severally to suit him yet its just final appearances we are getting no title. Compare that to someone winning titles and setting personal records across teams in England, Spain and now Italy and still the most potent force for Portugal with Stats thàt aren't rivaled and you would know that though he isn't the most skilled, Cristiano Rinaldo is the greatest footballer of all time.

Should Ronaldo play for Barca today, they will hail him better than Messi but even God won't let that happen because Barca would need to play against 15men all the time.... Lol

Politics / Re: Olayinka Omigbodun: Ojukwu, Who Ordered My Father’s Execution Was His Friend by seunspice(m): 10:03am On Oct 27, 2019
If only the ndigbo would stop the campaign of hate and playing the victim they would be better off. Just before you jump at criticism, read my comment with an open mind.
I am Yoruba and a proud one at that but all the major tribes of this country have their blames and faults as regards the tribal conflicts we are in.
Prior to the civil war, there were enough evidences of the hausa/Fulani hatred for southerner especially the ndigbo because of how territorial they were. I would later post links to YouTube videos where you will see prominent Hausa leaders berating southerner especially the ndigbo. The first coup by Kaduna Nzeogwu and his team of 5 which had just one Yoruba man however deepened the divide by their execution of regional leaders from all regions except igboland. They paved way for Azikiwe to escape to the UK and forewarned all Igbo leaders in the SE. This is what led to the massacre of the igbos in the north majorly and in Lagos. Yes! Lagos! Most Yoruba's never want to accept the truth but Igbo's were slaughtered right here on Carter bridge....
Ojukwu wasn't the right man to lead the Biafra charge because he had his own agenda but I barely blame him for whatever reason. He was friends with Gowon and the war would have been nipped in the bud had Gowon honoured the Aburi accord to stop the killings of Ndigbo across the nation.
Ojukwu reached out to the Yoruba leaders notably Awolowo et al and they asked for more time so that adequate logistics could be put in place as no one goes to war without adequate preparation, let's not forget that Lagos was the seat of government and there were several garrisons of the army in the South west. An I'll preparation would have spelt doom for Yoruba land and all the leaders wanted to achieve with ojukwu was secure international cooperation that would help facilitate the secession.
Let's not forget that the UK was pro one Nigeria while the US was in support of a secession. Germany, France and others were undecided and Awolowo believed that convincing them won't be a biggie.
Ojukwu couldn't hold back and allow his people be exterminated in the name of waiting and wasn't ready for another dialogue because Aburi accord failed this the hasty declaration of an ill fated war.
Once the war was declared, the Yoruba leaders had to make a decision for their people and chose to stay with the Nigerian government and thus we have stories of betrayal branded amongst the Igbo's till date.

From my point of view, it was Ojukwu and Awolowo taking the best decision for their respective people, each of their contribution in history is known to their people.
The parralel of then and now is the fact that not all Igbo leaders supported the option of war, a sizeable number of Igbo leaders then opined that they weren't prepared for war and should rather get Igbo's back home first then attempt dialogue. Just like most Igbo leaders today do not believe in KANU and his Massob.

In conclusion, there can never be a Nigeria of our dreams without a thorough reconciliation with the Ndigbo, a people like that cannot continue to be third class citizens in a country like ours, yes there would always be the fear of the Igbo factor but who cares? We have always had the Hausa Fulani factor and what has it done for us? We had Obasanjo in power for about a decade on and off did it spring up a Yoruba factor??
6 years of a Jonathan presidency didn't trigger an Ijaw factor so why not try the Ndigbo?

It is not lost on me that Igbo politicians are probably the most inept in Nigeria today, no common voice, no plan and no love for their people. The buhari administration has probably given more to the south east than all south east governors since 1999. The Ndigbo needs to come together, forget all sentiments and play the game of politics that would move the region forward. This agitation for Biafra can be achieved if all SE senators and reps decide for Biafra today! But they won't do that. They would rather eat up the constituency allowances, the criminal payments and the juicy contracts and drive to their constituencies in their bullet proof SUVs just like their colleagues from Yoruba land and others.

If these continue unabated, the dream of a strong and developed Nigeria and probably Biafra would remain at best a mirage.

Think strategy, think politics and stop these campaigns of hate, ethnicity and bigotry. We all have faults and blames. A docile citizenry is worse than these looters in power.

He balled in life, he is balling in death. I remember Steve Harvey say in a standup gig that MJ had Giraffe money, while average celebrities can't have two dogs because one was already tied at the yard.

Michael was a blend of talent, determination, hard work and dedication to his craft. He topped that by being a perfectionist. Yearly the establishment tries to rubbish his memories with bad propaganda but those who truly love him know he can't be held down even in death.
He was the best there ever was and will be, no one comes close. I met Marlon once and had a long chat with him and I will never forget when he looked me in the face and said... 'Pure musical entertaimment died when Michael died'

In every sect we have extremists but do not generalise, Kumuyi attends and preaches in other churches from as far back as 1986. We however have heard of over zealous pastors and members who pushed extremity to its limits. Because you met a few members of the church who are extremists doesn't mean all are. They can't
None of them have said anything constructive in my opinion

They can't even construct sentences without using vulgar words.... That's because they are letting their emotions get the best of them.

I am in no way offended.. Because this just proves my point about the type of graduates OAU is producing in recent years

I replied you with enough facts but you chose not to acknowledge them. I don't blame you for however you feel about OAU, but I remain proud of the school. I have worked with hundreds of grads from schools in Naija and abroad, almost everyone has one complaint or the other. No institution is perfect. By why you will wake up and decide to write this post because someone hyped the school is beyond me. Why not hype your school instead?

And for you saying none of the ife grads that have responded has said anything constructive is insulting to say the least. It speaks volumes about your character and personality.
Education / Re: Oau : 10 Reasons Why Its Not The Best University by seunspice(m): 12:45pm On Feb 05, 2017
While I still try to figure out the essence of this post from the OPs viewpoint I need to state these few points, i would implore my readers to note that i graduated from OAU 15years ago...

1. The OP is right in some instances and wrong in others. The point about the Halls of residence is 150% true. If it was true as at 15 years ago, I know it would be even more true today.

2. The pre eminence of strikes and Alutas in resolving simple issues is alarming, but my best memories are spread across these events.

3. On graduates fresh or no fresh having a good chance out there... I would say it depends on the person. I worked in 3 organisations and became the functional Head of my role in one of Nigeria's leading conglomerates and OAU grads made up the largest chunk of the workforce of all places I worked in.

4. The Ife solidarity is unrivalled anywhere I have ever been eveb outside the shores of Nigeria. From my NYSC days from Obubra camp, Cross River state I knew I was in good company, there were 1,456 corps members and only 42 from Ife. Through solidarity, we all got good placements for POP and had 5 awardees on passing out parade day.

5. Every institution has their traditions, norms and processes that are peculiar and unique to them. Ife computes it CGPA differently from other schools. It should be noted that during the freshman orientation course, everything that need to be known is explained to jambites and there are course advisers allocated to all fresh students to break things down for anyone who wants more information. Computing an F or otherwise has a direct impact on your CGPA, True! But its OAU's tradition to do that and if you decide on the school take that fact.

6. OAU is large, yes! But there are buses who go from the Mozambique/Angola/Awo Extension to SUB enroute road 1 to town and motor bikes who can take you almost anywhere except staff quarters. Its not a medieval campus where all you do is trek and walk. Choosing to walk to lectures isn't the school's making. Therefore the OP is wrong to paint a picture of tiredness in lecture halls... Haba! Fear God. Lack of facilities and amenities affect all Nigerian universities. Even private universities where parents pay through their noses aren't left out. So cut out the criticism here. Inadequate funding is the bane of the Nigerian Educational sector.

7. OAU is beautiful! Well, maybe the structures around academics and the beautifully lit streets but beauty lies in the eye of the looker. I have seen more beautiful schools... However not in naija. I feel the OAU management needs to do more to preserve the legacy of the southwest's cocoa era. Also, OAU needs at least 7 more halls of residence. It doesn't require rocket science knowledge. An involvement of the private sector where halls can be built as investment vehicles should be welcome. As a member of my faculty alumni council, I have made more visits to the school since graduation than most of my mates and I must tell my readers that I appreciate the school more now than when I was a student. I have a ward now in UI and I must confess that I regret not having her in OAU. Not because UI is not equally good, but just because of the sentiments.

As a father, I would not want my kids having their university education here in Naija because our degrees mean next to nothing outside of our shores. But if push comes to shove, my kids know that they have only one choice of University here and its OAU. I would stop for now. Reactions are welcome. However dear OP, your views are respected but I dare say aren't a full representation of what obtains. God bless you.

Pardon the typos if any.

Business / Court Strikes Our Ecobank Petition On Honeywell Group by seunspice(m): 9:17am On Jun 29, 2016
Ecobank HQ
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos and presided over by Justice Jude K. Dagat on Monday struck out the application by Ecobank Nigeria Plc seeking to wind-up Honeywell and its sister company, Anchorage Leisures Limited, for abuse of court process.
The business of the court on Monday was to hear pending applications in suits: FHC/L/CS/1571/15 Ecobank v. Honeywell Group Limited and FHC/L/CS/1570/15 Ecobank v Anchorage Leisures Limited which were the petitions for winding–up filed by Ecobank against Honeywell and Anchorage Leisures on the 16th October, 2015.
Addressing the court, Justice Dagat noted that a court faced with winding up application, must first determine if the petition was brought in good faith. According to him, Ecobank knew that Honeywell was challenging the alleged debt and had instituted a matter before Justice Idris, who had ruled that parties maintain status quo ante bellum. Despite the orders, Ecobank started its forum shopping by filing winding up petitions instead of recovery of the alleged debt. The fact of the case is that Honeywell had made payments to the tune of N3.5 Billion as full and final payment pursuant to the agreement of 22nd July 2014 by the parties.
Justice Dagat stated that since the matter pending before Justice Idris is premised on the same facts as this petition, there is an established abuse of the orders of Justice Idris regarding maintenance of status quo ante bellum. Justice Dagat further held that the matter before Justice Idris is first in time, therefore the subsequent petition by Ecobank constitutes an abuse of court process.
The court held that Ecobank’s petition is aimed at overreaching the powers of the Federal High court in the suit before Justice Idris. According to Justice Dagat, ‘’the Supreme Court has made it clear that it would amount to a travesty of justice for any court to hear a matter that is already before another court of coordinate jurisdiction’’.
Justice Dagat further ruled that if the court should proceed with Ecobank’s petition, it would create a conflict of decisions by different courts, which will not augur well within the Judiciary. “It is not in the interest of justice to allow this petition to stand even as the jurisdiction of the court has not been invoked on the matter. Ecobank’s petition was therefore struck out and Honeywell’s challenge was upheld.

Business / Honeywell Edges Ecobank With Bankers’ Committee Ruling by seunspice(m): 3:07pm On Feb 11, 2016
The Sub-Committee on Ethics and Professionalism of the Bankers’ Committee has ruled that Honeywell Group does not owe Ecobank Nigeria following Honeywell Group’s payment of the sum of N3.5 billion to Ecobank as full and final settlement on its loan facilities with the bank.
Clearly, the stage is set for intense legal fireworks as Honeywell Group and Ecobank continue to battle over the disputed indebtedness. Suits and counter-suits have been filed by both parties.

But information available to us suggest that Honeywell Group might have edged Ecobank in this battle with the favourable ruling it (Honeywell) got from the Bankers’ Committee saying it was no longer indebted to the bank.
In the ongoing legal tussle, Honeywell Group has recruited the services of renowned legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN while Mr Kunle Ogunba, SAN is lead counsel to Ecobank.

Honeywell Group however may have a stronger footing given that the matter was already addressed at the Bankers Committee by its Sub-Committee on Ethics and Professionalism, which ruled in favour of Honeywell Group. Honeywell Group had petitioned the Bankers’ Committee because Ecobank failed to honour its part of the agreements reached towards the final payment and resolution of the lingering matter.
From documents obtained, Honeywell Group said it paid a total sum of N3.5 billion to Ecobank following agreement by both parties that the amount be paid by Honeywell Group as full and final settlement on its loan facilities with the bank. As at the time of discussions between Honeywell Group and Ecobank, three (3) Honeywell Group companies – Anchorage Leisures Ltd, Siloam Global Services Ltd and Honeywell Flour Mills Plc – had running loan facilities with Ecobank. Honeywell Group engaged Management of Ecobank Nigeria, led by its Managing Director, on behalf of its companies.

Following the payment, Honeywell Group had written to Ecobank requesting a number of commitments, including: acknowledgement of the payments as full and final settlement on the facilities; a letter of discharge; the release of the securities held against the facilities and an update of the Group’s accounts on the CBN CRMS portal.

But according to Honeywell Group, Ecobank failed to honour any of these requests as earlier agreed by both parties which necessitated its petition to the Bankers’ Committee. The Sub-Committee on Ethics and Professionalism of the Bankers’ Committee addressed the petition and made the following findings: That a valid agreement was consummated between Honeywell and Ecobank for the payment of the sum of N3.5 billion in full and final settlement of Honeywell’s outstanding debt to Ecobank. That Honeywell by the immediate payment of N500 million and the subsequent payment of the balance of N3 billion fulfilled its obligations as agreed with Ecobank; and that Ecobank’s allegation that the Chairman of Honeywell Group was a “related party” to the transaction was wrong. At the time the transaction was consummated with Oceanic Bank, Dr. Oba Otudeko was not a member of the Board of Oceanic Bank. Furthermore, at the time Ecobank acquired Oceanic Bank Limited (and by implication the Honeywell facility), and commenced discussions with Honeywell, Dr. Oba Otudeko, CFR had left the Board of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) as a Director.

The Bankers’ Committee thereafter ratified the findings of the Sub-Committee on Ethics and Professionalism.

One of the recurring themes in Jackson's work—pervasive on the Bad album and its outtakes—is about being in control versus being controlled. Given the nature of his life, particularly after Thriller, this preoccupation makes sense. How does he retain his identity, his sanity, his privacy amid such suffocating scrutiny, adulation, and expectations? Out of this context comes the dark psychological rumination, "Price of Fame," with its Police-like, "Spirlll World" opening and "Billie Jeanu"-esque verses (there are also chords with echoes of "Who Is It"wink. "Father always told me you won't live a quiet life," he rues, "if you're reaching for fortune and fame." The vocal throughout is drenched in painful irony. Where "Billie Jean" relays a mother's plea to "be careful who you love," here the father dominates via harsh dictums about the realities of show business. "It's the price of fame," Jackson sings in the chorus. "So don't you feel no pain/ It's the price of fame/ So don't you ever complain." While the song's production isn't complete by Jackson's standards, it does offer a powerful vocal (listen to the way he bites into the lyric: "My father never lies!"wink. It is a striking juxtaposition to the easy bliss of the previous track, revealing why he so desperately yearned to fly away and be "free."

There is a price to pay for fame. No one living or dead has gone thru it as much as Michael Jackson did. He summed up his experience with this unreleased song titled 'Price of Fame'

I took my baby on a river boat cruise
And she was well aware
I was excited about the way the things could have been
As in if I don't care
I want a face no one can recognize, in disguise
Someone called out my name
They thought of taking pictures, autographs, then they grab
My joy had turned to pain
Father always told me
'You won't live a quiet life'
If you're reaching for fortune and fame
I feel the pressure setting in
I'm living just to win
I'm down in my pai
Don't you feelin' no pain?

It's the price of fame
You pay the price of fame
So don't be feelin' no pain
It's the price of fame
It's the price of fame
So don't you ever complain?

I am a cover of a magazine, what a scene
They know my every do's
'Just sign your name on the dotted line, you'll be fine'
That always bothers me
Get in your car, you wanna take a ride, look behind
Someone is following you
You try to get away you turn with that, but too bad
They know your every move
Father always told me
'You won't live a quiet life'
If you're reaching for fortune and fame
And I feel the pressure setting in
I'm living just to win
I bleed in all this pain
Don't you ever complain?

It's the price of fame
You pay the price of fame
So don't you ever complain
It's the price of fame
You pay the price of fame
So don't be feelin' no pain?
It's the price of fame [Price of fame]
You pay the price of fame [Price of fame]
Father never lies
My father never lies [Price of fame]
My father never lies [Price of fame]
So don't be feelin' this way, boy
(Hee-Hee)
(Aow!)
(Do it)
(Hoo)

I like to take sometime and get away, then they'll say
Is that boy still alive?
The weak that really started taking pills, what a thrill
Only the strong survive
Father always told me
'You won't live a quiet life'
They start to wonderin' where have you been
I feel their envious looks at me
Their mistaken jealousy
And then stand here in my shoes
And get addict of my blues

It's the price of fame
You pay the price of fame
So don't you ever complain
It's the price of fame
You pay the price of fame
So don't be feelin' this way
It's the price of f fame]
My father never lies [Price of fame]
My father never lies, baby
My father never lies [Price of fame]
So don't be feelin' no pain, boy

It happened to me once and strangers around me on the road twice. On all occassions i went with them to the police station proved my innocence and the 2 other guys without a fuss other than my precious time wasted.
Some Nigerians dont know what their rights are and Government does not educate the citizenry on appropriate laws made. How many Lagosians know details of the new lagos traffic laws?
So we operate in an environment that is positioned for the police and other agencies like lastma to harass and exploit the unwise amongst us. Just yesterday on 3rd mainland bridge around 6pm there was a convoy of nscdc staff and officials blaring sirens and forcing cars out of the way in massive traffic. I stayed put and made then move behind me from Unilag waterfront to oworonshoki bye pass without flinching. Couldnt help but laugh at the reaction of other road users who were so scared.
Since we are not sure of what transpired before the video recording began, the only crime i see in the video is the request for a bribe and haggling of the bribe amount by the policeman. The driver might argue in any court.
Celebrities / Re: Tade Ogidan Didnt Beat His Wife? by seunspice(m): 7:12am On Jun 20, 2013
Firstly i will like to say that i know this couple very well. I have been running projects with Uncle T for years and Yewande is also a buddy. I have been married myself for almost 10 years so i know couples have issues from time to time. Its the ability to keep a cool head and resolve these issues as quickly as they come that determine a happily married couple. I have spoken to both parties concerned and Uncle Tade's story was corroborated by Yewande. Why she released the mini van story is best known to her. I have spoken to 3 members of staff who were present on the same day and the story from Uncle Tade checked out fine. Even Yewande repeated the story verbatim.
The story broke from a malicious source. And check this out, the story says they have 3 kids together which is wrong. They have 2 kids. Yewande is right now not in the best frame of mind and has been greatly affected by how this story broke and the falsehood it has spread.
I would advice our bloggers and social media gurus to check out facts behind stories before posting. Like Michael Jackson said we are all 'Tabloid Junkies'.
Thanks.
