Regardless of whatever justification, mob attack or any form of attack is illegal and must be frowned at. We know some of our people are bad and desperate, and peer/societal influence has worsened the situation in Nigeria but how come the "bad" Nigerians don't attack the Lebanese, Indians, Chinese, Europeans etc despite some clear indication of instances of economic sabotage and racketeering and even established cases of inhumanity to their Nigerian employees inside Nigeria? If a Nigerian commits a crime in your country, pls get him arrested and face the laws of your land. You have no right to label a clean, hardworking and law abiding Nigerian a criminal. |
Emancipate yourself from the curse of ignorance and inferiority complex masked with arrogance which is even more repulsive. |
I disagree with No.1. I understand the idea but the terminology is wrong in my opinion. You should be proud of yourself. What you should avoid is arrogance. Proud people are always confident while arrogant people are insecure. Proud people know what they do. They are usually masters of their profession and they always like to do things properly. They don’t want to mess around and they definitely can’t stand time-wasters. Arrogant people often use their arrogance to cover their sloppiness and inability to cope with the task. Deep inside, they know they are not able to do the thing they are doing. They are full of doubts. (See http://www.lifehack.org/articles/communication/10-differences-between-pride-and-arrogance.html) Here is my personal experience when I left Nigeria. I grew up in an environment where pride is frowned at. In the USA, I tried to be humble in every way. Guess what? I got rolled over. The assumption was that I lacked confidence. After a couple of years, I totally got the message and fully adjusted. I started getting the rewards. What we loosely call 'pride' in some places in Nigeria is 'confidence' in some other cultures. What they frown at is 'arrogance'. When a lawyer, doctor, engineer, professor and even learned pastors etc talk, that is pride and confidence - it is not arrogance. What empty barrels do in Nigeria to cover for their shortcomings is not pride. It is arrogance. I paraphrase from the above link again - "Proud people really know themselves well while arrogant people don’t. Psychological studies show that people with pride have genuine self-esteem coming out of knowing themselves well. They know what they are capable of and how to control their emotions. Arrogance is actually ignorance of knowledge." |
dealslip:Benjamin Adekunle the Black Scorpion was only doing his job as a brave warrior in the Nigerian Army and if not for the fact that it was a mere lengthy 'police exercise' against our empty barrel brothers he would have completely wiped out the entire tiny region fooled by Ojukwu - who later fled to Abidjan after all his noise and boy scout theatrics then was pardoned by his masters led by Shagari and his assistant Ekwueme. |
So what happens if you marry someone making N300,000 a month and he loses his job a few months after the wedding? It is not just about how much the man is making, how much you are making or what plans you both have to make more than enough to sustain your home is what matters. |
Nigerians are difficult to understand. They will be yabbing each other like sworn enemies but try undermine Nigeria and face a ruthless combined force ![]() |
Sharp guy... make name no come spoil finish. We are only human. Just do your own bit and move on.... don't let anyone keep you down ![]() |
Nice one - glad more and more people are figuring this out. Same with our people abroad. Most of those doing very well in UK/US etc hardly have time to be posting pictures of themselves in the snow, having lunch, drinking wine etc on social media. The empty barrels are the loud ones. Also, I notice a lot of people claiming fake academic credentials online. It may not be your business but if an old friend living in Berlin suddenly starts calling himself a Ph.D - google is your friend. This is 2017 and Nigerians are no fools. A fake Toronto university graduate who became speaker at the House of Reps, Salisu Buhari, was busted in 1999 long before internet became almost an all comers affair in Nigeria. |
shukuokukobambi:Chai oshey... Arrogant Illiteracy! Succinctly put - Nigeria's number one problem ![]() |

What a Zoo! |
Nice one but buy what you can afford - as long as it's done out of love it's no big deal if it's cheap or not. The essence is not in the material value of the gift. If you can't afford what your heart desire at this point in time just get something and express to him your heart desire - good people appreciate that in a huge way. |
Why do people have one or two experiences out of many and still somehow manage to reach a conclusion on the best and the worst? ![]() |
RIP. Quite unfortunate. Maybe he only needed some privacy. |

pwettiejay:Once again Nigerians, free yourselves from the shackles of your ancestors' mindset and some of their proverbs motivated by their awareness, traditions and limitations at that point in time. She can have kids by adopting some of the millions of legally adoptable children scattered all over Africa. |
Arsenal go still win this mash! |
Serve with Dodo and Broccoli and top up with your favorite juice/wine - heavenly bliss |
bjhaid:Stupid givers do lack. Give with wisdom. A lot of people with ideas that should build businesses and eventually liberate people around them never made it in life by giving stupidly. Don't give out money meant to actualize your investment ideas unless we are talking of a life and death situation. Don't let visionless people derail you by taking advantage of your generosity to fund their vanities and even end up making fun of you. When you become truly wealthy you can easily make others with vision wealthy. |

This is like arresting someone for acts of racism committed under an apartheid regime :sarcasm:.Under hero of democracy GEJ, this was a noble act. Stealing was not corruption. Free the mallam - he probably already gave the good hero his own share through madam 'toll gate' patience! ![]() |
So if it's all about dollar exchange rate what was the exchange rate under Obasanjo and under Yar'adua? ![]() |
intrepid: Clown. Is that the version they gave you at your village square? |
magoo10:It is quite obvious that you are not among the few intelligent ones amongst you. |
medpren:Aboki principals Tafawa Balewa > Nnamdi Azikiwe Shagari > Alex Ekwueme Yar'adua > Goodluck Ebele Jonathan |
magoo10:The ones that I know among them supported Jonathan against the same Buhari in 2011. So your conclusion failed a basic test of logic. If they were not tribal bigots/jealous in 2011 then that should not be a factor in 2015. |
refiner:You don't have to be a father to know that the punishment is unnecessary. The deed is already done. They should assist in taking care of the child and help the girl get back on her feet. |
Be reminded that they also fought to free Goodluck Jonathan from the shackles and kitchen of Turai Yar'adua where he was comfortably enjoying his captivity when he should constitutionally be the acting president with Yar'adua's whereabout unknown. |
