You must be a special case of retarded to regret moving to the USA. Too many options and most of the states are like different countries, find the one that works best for you. Nothing to regret in America unless you are deliberately out in search of something to regret & you don't have to japa to do that. |

Greed-driven.
You can mention all the basic laws of economics influencing this but the main fuel is the greed of a typical myopic Nigerian who doesn't care how his/her actions affect everybody.
A groundnut seller will double the price because dollar rate increased, you import am?
A vehicle importer will ship a car to Nigeria & some idiots will add all sorts of ridiculous costs making it impossible to sell at affordable price.
Someone will build rental properties with his sweat & many are lining up for their share each time a lease is done, all the cost is transferred to the renter.
We are our own worst enemies. Greedy fools. |

Yes, and that was our structure before Aguiyi-Ironsi got to power. poseidon12: Summary of the Aburi Accord is that Nigeria should run a confederal system. Much like what you have in Canada or Switzerland. Basically a decentralised governance system. Don't be a typical Nigerian ( tribalistic, insincere, and runs away from reality). |

Restructuring is not in the hands of any president. He does not have that power. That can only be done by the National Assembly. DMerciful: So you mean Akande is the first person that has said we should restructure or go back to the 1960 constitution?
The westerners have been pushing for restructuring since the 1990s infact Tinubu had problems with Obj while he was governor because he was trying to create more LGAs for Lagos. Tinubu is president now, let him do the restructuring he has been fighting others for |

The governors, police, religious & community leaders should also be called out on this.

Same stories with UNILAG engineering teachers including the legendary Akoka Giant Prof Ayodele Awojobi, Prof Alfred Susu, Prof Alaba Akinsete, Professor Francis Ayodele Ogunye, Prof Francis Fajemirokun, Prof N. A. Abdul. Prof Sambo Balogun, Prof Salau, Prof Vincent Olunloyo, Prof Oye Ibidapo-Obe, Prof Francis Olatunji, Prof Akin Loto, Prof Chigozie Nwilo among several others across other faculties who are all products of top universities abroad at one level or the other. If not for Lagos location, Nigeria would have messed them up if they were stationed in other universities. Raskimonojendor: That's because most engineering grads leave the country for masters abroad. They mostly will not come back due to higher standard of living in those countries.
However, alot of my now retired professors at OAU finished from Urbana, Stanford, Yale e.t.c in the 1960s -1970s. They taught us in the early 2000s with outdated books and text as well. That means the Nigerian corruption also kills talent.
A particular course, Engineering physics was set up in the era of Obasanjo in the late 1970, so that the graduates from the program can help build Nigerian nuclear power stations. Some of the graduate from that program ended up being lecturers at OAU and fell to the Nigerian system as well. One of the Drs then use to do rentals as side hustle to add up to his salary. If the guy had japa-ed back in the 1980s after graduation, his case might have been different, and he could have been rubbing shoulders with the likes of Barth Nnaji or Kunle Olotokun. |
Politics › Re: UNILAG To Graduate 379 First Class Students At 54th Convocation by Shikena(m): 12:38am On Jan 11, 2024 |
Bullcrap. You are analyzing universities like secondary schools. Clearly define your scope first, not what your brother and cousin told you about their respective individual courses in school. Besides, UNILAG lecturers have been teaching in LASU from time immemorial across most of their departments, maybe you need to sound out a few of them. Scholace: My brother finished from Unilag, while my cousin finished from LASU. I am not talking about ranking. They both confirmed how LASU is more academy rigid than Unilag. Unilag used OBJ for her year 1&2 undergrad exam, while LASU uses German and Theory from year 1 till final year. I understand Unilag has condusive learning environment unlike LASU, that may also be a favourable factor
And for the employment aspect, that was in the past. It's not applicable anymore. Government or private firm will not employ you simply because you have Unilag on your certificate. |

How did you arrive at that conclusion? Scholace: He was right. LASU is more rigorous than Unilag. Likewise FUTA, they're very much rigorous than Unilag |
Politics › Re: UNILAG To Graduate 379 First Class Students At 54th Convocation by Shikena(m): 12:08am On Jan 11, 2024 |
True. I recall my friend who entered his university with JAMB score of 224 telling me that he would have topped his equivalent department in UNILAG because "UNILAG is easy". He conveniently forgot that UNILAG cut-off for that same department was 272, when reminded he said "E no matter". His school's cutoff for that department was 207. He would have been in the same class with his ogas at the top Jeboy: I am not surprised.
To get admission into unilag, you must do very well in Jamb and post-jamb. Most times, more than 20% of Jamb candidates choose unilag as there 1st choice only for the best among the lots to get the admission to high rated courses like Engr, CS, Law and others.
Check the caliber of students that usually make unilag list. Folks from Queens College, Kings College, high worth private schools like Corona and Federal Govt Colleges. Why won't they churn out real 1st class. Let's give it to the guys who deserve their worth jare. |

Ha, I remember some people that resigned during those sad and hard Abacha years and a few years later things just changed suddenly with Abubakar's bumper payments across board then followed by the new democracy with OBJ's government. They regretted it big time.
Good times always follow the hard times but may not touch everybody. Your positioning is what matters. Good times are coming in Nigeria, no matter what the naysayers say, it is inevitable. |

We have 36 states in Nigeria, folks.. mount pressure on your state governors - they can't be pocketing all the money flowing in for their states while moving around like traditional rulers.
It is only big grammar we read online about how some states look like New York but the people are not moving back in large numbers. We need that to start happening.
Kudos to Lagos State. If you have contributed in developing Lagos, now is the time to go home and develop your home state. Lagos helped you become somebody, you came in as nobody. Economic downturns always breed new wealth, get that done in your state. This is for everybody not directed at one specific part of Nigeria. |

It is what it is. Kemi Adeosun was arguably the most open and hardworking under Buhari and always upholding her social contract with Nigerians with regular updates on her activities as minister, liked or not, but she had to go, and that coincided with that government's total loss of connection with Nigerians. The other ministers were probably like, what's the point? What you spend keeps businesses afloat and pays the salary of those who prefer to work instead of begging! It also encourages innovation and business expansion.
Spend your money with full chest, patronize hardworking local businesses, and buy Nigeria. If you have extra, tip workers generously!
Enough with pandering to lazy beggers and smart fraudsters and their endless schemes. You are asked to help the poor and the needy, not the smart and the greedy. |
