PoliticsRe: Tinubu Fails To Replace Recalled Ambassadors, 5 Months After by Shikena(m): 4:14pm On Feb 09, 2024
Those countries don't have as many missions as we have, and they do go without ambassadors at times too.

The proper procedure is for the most senior diplomat to manage tne embassy as head of mission in the absence of an ambassador.

There is no operational issue here.

wink2015:
The federal government should still follow proper procedure of doing things.

Is it done in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa that way by unnecessary delays in appointing officers to foreign missions?
FamilyRe: Can A Woman Love Her Husband And Not Love His Family? by Shikena(m): 2:38pm On Feb 09, 2024
Hard truths:

1 - For most women, marriage is primarily about security (physical, financial, emotional etc). Love is secondary & mere tool/means to support the main objective.

2 - The main issues are often about control. This changes the concept of family for most people. The scope of control defines the level of security. The larger family complicates this for the woman.

3 - The woman knows the family is aware that a wife could later become another person's wife but your father, mother, brother, and sister are forever.

4 - The key is to embrace and love the family. Do not put your mouth in key decisions. There are ways to influence your husband in the bedroom, never let your ego drive you to do this openly. Be wise.

5 - The larger family will always have the back of a good and trusted wife, don't let Nollywood or your mother's stories deceive you. The hidden truth may shock you.

Whoever spent time compiling this report should focus on the plight of Nigerians abroad at Nigerian Embassies. How many of these ambassadors have dedicated their tenure to addressing basic consular issues affecting Nigerians at their respective missions?

The media can do better than being mere tools in the hands of career desperados and political jobbers.

We have more important issues to deal with.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Fails To Replace Recalled Ambassadors, 5 Months After by Shikena(m): 10:50am On Feb 09, 2024
Spot on! You know the drill. This agitation is certainly not about Nigeria's interest, it is a desperate push by those waiting their turn.

SoftP:
Those who has political interest are the ones agitating !
What has been the use of those ambassadors ?
With the likes of Gen.Buratai representing Nigerians then as diplomats!

If that’s a means of cutting cost; then Nigerians can do without them.

Most of the so called Ambassadors are always Anti-progressive, working for deportation of Nigerians abroad.

I won’t be surprised if miscreants , the likes of FFk are the ones bankrolling this publicity….

The failures will fail again. Our football was not politicized before and after the civil war, Nigerians sang kekerenke obi in 1973 after winning the All African Games football gold with Haruna Ilerika, Yakubu Mambo and co, same after winning AFCON 1980 led by Christian Chukwu, Segun Odegbami, Muda Lawal etc. Also in 1994 and 2013.

You will not politicize our football and end up poisoning it with your myopic bitterness. It won't happen grin

Dear H-or-ny teenager, your excitement is understandable. However, there is a criminal act called rape and that's what you just fantacized about. It will label you a known criminal for life. In Nigeria, jail term is 14 years if found guilty. Your family would be brought to shame. It is ok to be with a woman, it is not even difficult if you focus on becoming somebody in life, they will flock around you but forcing a woman will destroy your life. Think deeply.

PoliticsRe: Wike Flags Off Construction Of Gaba-Tokulo Road In Bwari Area Council (Pictures) by Shikena(m): 7:17am On Feb 03, 2024
Yes we are unusual people so nothing strange when we do unusual things. Not many countries allow roads to become death traps, we do. Not many celebrate roads when constructed or fixed, we do.

We should be here screaming about the terrible state of our roads, but many already adapted to it. So if you are not doing anything about it just let us celebrate the fix or even the publicity in peace. It is that bad.

lagonovo:
Considering the current state of most of our roads after several decades of different people in power, I don't have any issue celebrating fixing roads in Nigeria.

Lots of our roads are terrible and anywhere, any corner where this is being addressed should be celebrated so the thieves doing nothing in their states can take note and do something for their people even if it's done out of envy or competition.

Was Wike not a governor, like Tinubu, Oshiomhole, Akpabio, Bagudu and others in Abuja now?

Do you know?

Keep moving.

To my personal Nairaland friend, what is your state governor doing to improve development level in your town/village so you can return home, so your brothers won't have to jakpa from your state to join you in making Lagos and Abuja more congested?

Tackle the FG but don't feign ignorance on the failure of your governor, mount pressure. If your state and my state get better then Nigeria is getting there.

PoliticsRe: If You Were Among These People, Your Life Is Cursed. by Shikena(m): 3:17pm On Feb 02, 2024
You captured it brilliantly.

We need to understand this because we all want the same thing, a prosperous Nigeria, but most of us don't understand "the problem" and we find it very convenient to label it a political party problem.

nairalanda1:
You are right, but as far as many on this site are concerned, you are excusing APC, because they think you are saying that 'APC is bad, but look PDP Is also bad, so..'

The truth is that our problem is due to the fact that our economy has been hooked to oil since the 1970's. Before oil, it was cocoa, palm oil, groundnut, etc. When the price of the thing goes up, our economy is healthy, when the price goes down, our economy goes gaga. It happens in many other African countries like ours.

But the problem with most people on this site, they want to blast their opponents while praising their side. APC does it, PDP supporters are doing it now.

Back when I was a child in the 1980's, all this complaining I see here, people were complaining well well the same way. Meanwhile, they were telling us stories of the 1970's and early 1980's when things were so good, you could buy a car for N1000 or less, and a table fan for N16, and bread for 50kobo.

The problem with Nigeria is our economy has hooked up to whatever resource we sell...and we do not set the price. (And when we attempt to set the price, it causes wahala). The only way we can set price is downwards...and we cannot afford to set our oil at 50 dollars per barrel like ROssiya is doing, because it would crash our economy badly.

That is why I tell people that APC Has failed because they did not diversify the economy. But because that means saying the same thing about PDP, In their minds, you are excusing APC (LOl).

At some point, you cannot argue with the average Nairalander. Half of them are government praise singers, the other half are PDP and LP and seccesionist advocates (the latter when their side is losing). A tiny minority don't swing either side...but then again, everyone wants you to be on either side, and if you do not say that GEJ is a god, or that TInubu is renewing hope, you are an evil person.

Maybe that is why we cannot see our problem clearly.
PoliticsRe: If You Were Among These People, Your Life Is Cursed. by Shikena(m): 2:33pm On Feb 02, 2024
Sorry I would have loved to type in your local language but I'm not sure if I would make much sense. I believe you are not ignorant of the fact that English is our lingua franca in Nigeria and has been long before I was born lol.

The living standard of Nigerians has been directly proportional to our oil revenue. Again, stop dwelling on the periphery. Macro-economics is different from micro & the response time lag to poor policy is huge.

GEJ's govt started borrowing to pay salaries shortly after the biggest oil boom in history. It is a systemic problem. You want a political answer that suits your agenda but there is none. Dig deep with open mind if you are sincere in your quest to figure out where & how Nigeria got it wrong. You can even ignore the global recessions & covid 19 pandemic effects.

SouthSouth1914:
Haha! I love how your are hiding behind words in other not to absolve a particular set of unscrupulous elements camouflaging as saviors in the name of APC. My question is- What was the living standard of Nigerians before the devil’s party came onboard? What about price of commodities?

Just answer without mumbling with English language that isn’t your first language. Thank you!
FamilyRe: 'I Regret Pushing My Husband To Move Us From Okota To Lekki Phase 1' - Woman by Shikena(m): 1:29pm On Feb 02, 2024
grin grin Jakpa is an age-long human reality even before Abraham in the bible. How it became an issue requiring epistles on the pros and cons is what I don't know. Jakpa is not going to stop and it is a personal decision like religion.

Unless people want to shift goalpost to justify useless debates, people jakpa daily from smaller towns and villages to Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Ibadan, PH, Enugu etc.

It is petfectly normal to migrate towards better opportunities for good life. Nigerians flocked to Ghana & Ivory Coast in the 50s & 60s. Most of less buoyant Africa flocked to Nigeria in the 70s and 80s. It is normal, internet interactions just turned it to a big topic.

They want to jakpa within Nigeria.

63+ years of poor planning climaxed by a wasteful 4th republic from 1999. This thread is just another one of thousands of emotional outbursts with no depth If your goal is to justify a predetermined conclusion to exonerate a specific president who practically headed a looting jamboree.

It is way deeper than any president, a critical unbiased review of the insatiable greed and frivolity of an average Nigerian with access to any form of power or financial muscle will get us much closer to a better understanding of the travails of the independent native-ruled Nigeria.

SportsRe: AFCON 2024 Quarter Final Teams and Pairings by Shikena(m): 12:34pm On Jan 31, 2024
Yes but you must be strong to beat a strong team. You play the conqueror of Morocco or Egypt as a better version of those teams regardless of ranking. Underdog mindset always work well for Nigeria.

Nazgul:
From that pairing, if we defeat Angola, we'll play the winner of South Africa vs Cape Verde in the Semi finals. Not bad if you ask me.

If Nigeria is serious we should win this tournament, most of the strong teams are already out.
