I will advise you like a brother: ask your elder brother to give you your share of the wealth (I hope you did not eat yours) so that you can leave.

I am a 36 YO guy with no university certificate, was too wayward to finish school in FUTO then, left school in my 2nd year for a 4 year course.

Tried my hands on business years later and currently have 7M naira saved.
Now, I want to go for degree and eventually start a family .
I am considering seeking admission in a UK or Canadian school. Luckily, I have sponsors .

For a guy of my age , looking to study IT related course or physiotherapy and eventually seeking residency, would you recommend UK or Canada?

Well done. You are moving forward: no matter how slowly moving forward is better than staying stagnant.

Now at 38 it will be immensely difficult to get a visa officer to aprove your study permit for 1st degree. They do not really like educational gaps (Go check out the Canadian student thread on nairaland)
If you have sponsors who will not give excuses go study nursing in the UK.

Alternatively if you are not so sure of your sponsors go to Ukraine and after your 3-year nursing degree, you can apply to either UK or Canada or US.

The only snag is that for univeristies un Ukraine, your WAEC must not be less than 10 years old

I'm glad you have that type of money. But then, a lot of Nigerian home revenue is less than N100,000. and no one can manage two homes on less than N100,000

No, its our responsibility to "support" our parents as they care for themselves. Why? Because you are already caring for a new family - your own fully. Except you are a politician or oil company worker, if a child attempts to fully carry the responsibility of his own kids and wife and his parents, he might have high blood pressure.
1.You build two homes, one for your parents and one for yourself, you will also maintain the home paying for two house helps to assist both homes
2.You budget feeding for two families
3.Hospital bills for two families

It is totally impossible. So where the obligation to parents end is simply "support a little" except those that have stupendous wealth or don't plan to raise a family

I have children and it is not my wish for any of my children to care for me. Call me, send me flowers, a gift card, come and visit me, bring the grand kids, but hey don't take care of me. Instead I will work until I am 80

Whatever I am doing for them is a favor because I will save for the future and won't be needing much financial assistance from them.

I will die when I am still strong enough to take care of myself.

Its a responsibility to care for kids. Not a favour.

Since the issue here is lack of self-control from both parties: if your mother will leave and if the man remains, and you eventually have a girl child, how do you protect your girl-child from your husband? How will you protect your maid from your husband? (remember the issue is self-control)

Before you go on that beautiful date, and decide to throw caution to the wind, and get pregnant, and decide what you did by yourself was a mistake, and decide to take the life of a little child, lets have a look at these pictures.

Please if you find yourself in this situation, do not abort, do not throw in the bin, go to the nearest Catholic orphanage and drop the baby. I am not Catholic but I have gone to different catholic orphanages in the south south and south east and the kids are thriving.

Please if anyone knows any other good catholic orphanages across Nigeria please list them underneath
