Jumu'ah mubarak brothers and sisters, may Allah accepts our prayers amin.

Jumu'ah's khutba today was not it at all, just like last week, the imam came in and recited what seems like a secret scroll from ancient arabia, no translation or explanation and the whole jumu'ah was done within 15mins!

How do one get recharged spiritually with this kind of format?! with the fact that the society is morally and spiritually dead.

I pray Allah continue to guide us all amin.

The name and reputation of Islam is far from what is being portrayed...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fundamentals of Islam, and thank God you say of your close friends and family members are good muslims, do they support these murderers?
I hate playing the victim in any situation, but still, i feel muslims are being overtly stereotyped. Yes these people claim to be fighting in the course of Islam, are they doing it in the right way? Is their acts in accordance with the principles of Islam? Do the majority of muslims support this act?Definately NO!

The world is full of different ideologies and eachone is trying to be the dominant. i hope you know the super power of our time and the ideology they promote, and know their stand against Islam and their interest especially in the arab world. The media plays its role by presenting a political issue as religious, they present false information about Islam and misrepresent what Islam preaches...that is why you have concluded in your mind that Islam preaches violence.

I do know as well as majority of muslims worldwide, that Islam does not preach senseless killing and maiming of innocent people. I do hope you root for democracy, where the majority gets the upper hand, dont you think it is wrong for you to claim that muslims are violent? When only few are responsible for these senseless violence?

And this brings to mind muslims reaction to the video, they are simply trying to tell us that whether we attack their embassies or protest or speak out they will not be intimidated, yet they fail to realiaze that their hate material ends up bringing more people to Islam, one of the reason Islam is spreading in the west is that sometime negative propaganda ends up getting people to learn more about Islam, Allah is using their own tricks against them.

Subhanallah! Indeed they plot and plan, but Allah is the best of planners.

This has always been my take, they come all out to paint Islam bad, but still help to propagate it even though its not their intention. They give the ummah the opportunity to tell people about the real Islam.

They show to the world that islam is archaic and barbaric, they tell lies about the Qur'an and the prophet(saw), they slander muslims and stereotype them as being violent, this raises consciousness of the people about these "bad" set of people and their beliefs and in turn, those who Allah wishes to be guided find true faith and happiness in Islam.

There is always a good thing about a bad situation, afterall, precious stones are always buried in dirt...

I see the whole issue as a case of "to hang a dog, give it a bad name". History has shown times without number how tolerant muslims have been and are still being tolerant even though the the "west" and its tool(media) are trying to paint us otherwise.

Yeah it is, they dont mix it up. Just like the yorubas will request some form of payments to family members from father's acceptance fee to children's fee(owo baba gbo,omo ile etc.). Being a shy loner evr since, i want a girl who is beautiful,confident and smart that can relate with me or understand that am not so mean/snobbish as people take me for and i respect ladies a lot. You need to work on your being percieved as snubbish and mean, and the best way is by spreading the salam with a smiling face...its sadaqah(hadith) .
Shyness has been discussed on here, its got its good and bad, most important thing is be confident in yourself.

If you re-send the message,it's believing in the sender.Also,the message is contradictory cos of the "InshaALLAH".'Believe me' and InshaAllah' can't go togerther as we can only believe in Allah,anything other than that is shirk.You can also reconstruct the sentence if you still want to send it.Allah knows best.

I don't think it is contradictory bro, the message said "believe me" not "believe in me". I think the InshAllah makes one to know that the "biggest problem" can only be solved if Allah wills.

@OP, the content of the message is definately bid'ah, there is no evidence to backup such claim in the Qur'an and sunnah. the recent ones i have gotten has something like "its sadaqatu jariyah if you send it to ...." which i am comfortable with. we cant help it with all dis whatsapp, bbm, 2go tinz abound, there is a need to always remind ourselves of acts that are meritorious.

I am not a yoruba person but i do see myself possibly getting married to one. During their traditional weddings, I see the men have to lie down flat with their heads on the ground...

Personally, I can not put my head on the floor for any man because that is only reserved for Allah... It is Islamically wrong as well.. Ca one get out of this kind of tradition without being seen as rude or disrespectful.

There are only few yoruba families that will do away with the traditional part of marriage, to most yorubas, your marriage is incomplete without it. The major tradition in the marriage is the introduction (mo mi mo e), engagement is a foreign thing. Actually there shouldn't be anything wrong with it, just a normal gathering of both families with the aim of knowing each other which also entails the exchange of gifts. The problem lies with the items requested and then the commercialization of the spokesperson from both families(Alaga Iduro/ijoko). Items such as kolanut, catfish, aligator pepper have been traced to items requested by idols...Just as maclatunji said, let the family know (most preferably through your bride or their alfas) that these things are not Islamic.
The issue of prostration should also go through the same channel, in fact, most people subscribe to the squatting to show a form of respect for the prophet says "He is not one of us one who doesn't show respect to the elders..." and if they insist, well its just a day, its outta necessity(you go marry your wife na abi?)
