Auxtin85:Have u heard of statutory rape... |
People still ranting on indecent dressing have simply got their heads buried in the sand... Or I may rightly assume they are male chauvinist with a mix of misogynist, who believe in the entrenchment of a male dominated society where voice of women are obliterated... So the men can continue to inflict misfortune on women and still turn around and blame the women.... In Nigeria.... It's the woman's fault if she's raped.... It's her fault if she's sexually assaulted at work... It's her fault for getting pregnant outside of marriage not minding it takes 2 to make a baby.... It's her fault if she fails to bear children for her husband... It's her fault if the husband engages in extramarital infidelity.... It's her fault if she's a victim of domestic abuse... It's her fault for a failed marriage n being a single mother.... It's her fault for having children she can't cater for.... It's the fault of a female student, if a randy lecturer demand for sex in exchange for grade.... It's always the woman's fault.... The men are never to be blamed for any ills in the society.... When it's a known fact that men build civilisation, not women....men build nations.... Ok, leave the stage and let women lead if u guys want the female folks take the blame..... Mba....The African man wants to be in charge, but doesn't want to take responsibility..... And we can see how well men are leading African nations.... Bunch of primitive men with backward thinking, blaming women for rape in the 21st century.... |
If indecent dressing is a cause or risk factor for rape.... Then why are small children a victim of Rape...a question none of the indecent dressing crusaders are yet to answer.... Middle East is a fiercely conservative society when it comes to women dressing.... Yet Arab men are notorious for raping their maids and even killing the victims.... Besides if u agree to pay the bride price of the victim, the court will let u go.... In India, most rape happen in rural regions where fashion exposure is minimal and dress sense is basic.... Yet their men rape women and hang the victims afterwards.... Even in church, where modesty is preached and emphasised.... Catholic fathers abuse boys and evangelical preachers are known to take advantage of vulnerable women.... The manner u guyz talk about provocative dressing, one would expect developed western nations to be the headquarters of Rape..... Yet most rape are perpuated in underdeveloped countries despite being under reported.... The only exception is sweden which was sane until they accepted massive refugees from 3rd world countries and boom the rape statistics went up.... Numerous studies has shown that Rape culture is entrenched and perpetuated in male dominated society where women lack the voice to speak.... The men determine what's best for their women including who's to blame for rape..... And of course in a patriarchal system, it will always be the women.... |
bigmic111:Ur answer is above.... I don't have your time this evening.... |
Causes of Rape....
|
Udemeeyenabasi:Copied from a nairalander.... OP is naïve and ill informed. If you think mode of dressing triggers rape, then your reasoning is very shallow. You have not started solving the problem, you are adding to it. One thing you should understand is that rapists are sick people. A rapist will rape you whether you are dressed well or not. If it is true that mode of dressing is what triggers rape, then children should be safe from rape. But in reality, they are not safe. Most cases of rape news on nairaland front pages involves children and minors not up to 18. Should mode of dressing be blamed for that one too If you think dressing well and covering up your body will protect you from rapists, then you are very stupid and naïve. Underate rapists at your own peril. |
bigmic111:So how come underage girls and even little kids are victims... Or is it what they wear.... |
budaatum:[s][/s] Start by burning down your corrupt politicians making life miserable for u guys, then I'll take u serious... Or better still, organise boys and enter Chinese factory in Lagos n deal with those chinkos maltreating their nigerian staffs... Na only mouth una get....
|
budaatum:Those assets are goldmine if properly managed.... And I can assure u the Chinese man will squeeze out every gold in those assets.... China can't just buy those assets straight off. Of course, they will love to buy, but Nigeria won't sell unless they remain the last option to generate revenue n stay afloat.... Western countries wanted to buy NNPC through Atiku if he had won the election..... China also has their eyes set on African numerous assets esp mineral resources and fishes.... Their long term plan is to burden African countries with indebtedness n demand for national assets as pay back..... |
budaatum:200 million Nigerians can do nothing... Once it's sold to China, it belongs to them... The first thing they will do is replace top management staffs with Chinese.... Few Nigerians will be retained to act as house niggas.... So don't even think Nigerians will benefit.... Nigerians are too docile and stupid to initiate any form of resistance or organise themselves in order to restructure their community.... U guys that can't oppose your own elected leaders.... Na Chinese man una wan fight.... The Chinese man is ruthless n lacks conscience. His god is money. He believes in servitude n hard labour.... And that's what they will expect from Nigerians.... U guys will work hard until every single penny of the loan is paid back with interest.... He go do Una like dream.... The good thing is for the first time.... Nigerians will come to appreciate hardwork...... And that's the only reason I support China taking over... |
budaatum:NNPC, NLNG, Nigerian refinery, Lagos port, murtala Muhammad airport or Abuja airport, free oil wells in naija delta, Nigerian railway, installing toll gates on Nigerian major highway..... China can even demand to take over top schools like unilag, UI or ABU.... These are juicy assets with good ROI..... It's like u oblivious of what's happening in Nigeria.... The last time the country was broke, FG contemplated selling some of these assets.... Dangote even suggested n supported the idea..... Whether we like or not, these assets will be sold... It's just a matter of time... America don't need to give up any assets to China... She owed her debt in dollars, a currency she has full control over... If China demand for their loan, all America need to do is print more dollars n throw it at them... It's left for China to chew on what to do with the worthless printed dollars... |
Buckubuck:So u sabi the guy.... To him, the solution to everything is money, money, n more money.... Then borrow more money.... If that's exhausted...tax the hell out of the citizens for more money.... Just keep spending money n don't stop.... I really don't understand his way of seeking pragmatic solutions.... |
Air Canada passenger says she was forced to organize her own escape from an empty plane in Toronto after flight crews left her asleep in her seat. Tiffani Adams said the incident, documented in detail on Air Canada’s Facebook page and currently under review by the airline, took place on a June 9 flight from Quebec City to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. After finding herself in an empty row, Adams said she laid down to sleep less than halfway into the short 90-minute flight. When she woke up, she said she was completely alone in the pitch-black aircraft. “I wake up around midnight, few hours after [the] flight landed, freezing cold still strapped in my seat in complete darkness,” Adams recalled in the post. “I attempt to charge my phone by plugging into every USB port I could find—no luck because when they shut the aircraft down there is no power whatsoever… since I can’t charge my phone to call for help I’m full on panicking because I want off this nightmare ASAP.” Adams said she then made her way to the cockpit, where she attempted to use a radio to call for help, but couldn’t use the plane’s radio without power. She said she eventually found a flashlight and began signaling out of the plane’s windows, hoping to attract attention. At the same time, she said she found a way to open the plane’s door – but had no way to get down. “Now I’m facing a 40-50ft drop to the pavement below... I search frantically for a rope so I can climb down to safely. [The] flight attendants seat is right by the door I opened, but the seatbelt is too short to hang from, so back to my distress signals." Adams, who said the plane was parked far away from the airport terminal, eventually attracted the attention of a baggage attendant who brought a ladder truck to the plane to rescue her. “He is in shock asking how the heck they left me on the plane,” she wrote. “I’m wondering the same… when my seat an inch back or my tray [is] down flight crew take notice, but yet you missed a person still strapped into her seat and just all go on home?” In a statement to CTVNews.ca, an Air Canada spokesperson declined to share any additional details but said the airline is reviewing the incident. Adams said she was immediately approached by an Air Canada representative on the ground who offered to get her a limo or hotel room. She declined, stating that she just wanted to go home. A spokesperson said the airline remains in contact with Adams, who said she is still struggling to sleep. “I haven’t got much sleep since the reoccurring night terrors and waking up anxious and afraid I’m alone locked up someplace dark,” she wrote. https://beta.ctvnews.ca/national/canada/2019/6/22/1_4478442.html |
gypsey:No American will come to nigeria to earn 36000 dollars.... It's not worth it... Nigeria is considered a high risk and compensation for expatriates working in naija is huge.... Besides 36000 b4 tax is nothing in America...people earning such will most depend on some form mini welfare to get by.... |
iammo:If u see nothing wrong in a police officer pointing a loaded gun at a kid n a pregnant woman... Then u must be very stoopid.... Mr Ajala the traveller.... despite ur exposure, u think the white officer is doing the right thing- displaying extreme form of aggression because of a one dollar Barbie doll...... White man ass licker..... The way u house niggas reason is simply beyond normal human comprehension.... And is safe to say u guys are beyond redemption... |

LegoMetahuman:This link shows the source of nigeria steel import.... https://tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/imports/iron-steel That's just to show u how useless a chinese steel embargo will be on nigeria.... Nigerian steel importers will simply buy from other countries.... India not China is the largest exporter of pharmaceutical product to nigeria, so u can see how lame such china embargo will be... https://tradingeconomics.com/nigeria/imports/pharmaceutical-products There's nothing special about made in China, they can be gotten elsewhere.... Now let me lecture u... No country places embargo on its consumer or finished products.... Most especially export oriented countries like china.... That's suicidal n it's a precipitate for economic recession, deindustrialisation n rising unemployment The country risk losing market share, because whatever that's banned can be sourced elsewhere.... Trade embargo target commodity products, capital goods or manufacturing components.... The above are needed to produce the final product... Trade embargo on these products hurts the importing/dependent country.... That's why China is banning export of rare earth metals to usa but spared Apple products.. Why...because Apple products are finished goods produced in china.... If China bans Apple devices, they risk losing the huge manufacturing market to other countries if apple decides to move production elsewhere.... Chinese govt can only appeal to nationalistic fervour.... https://www.phonearena.com/news/Would-China-ban-the-Apple-iPhone_id116240p0 Since its obvious u playing the ostrich here... If we are to continue this discussion, then u back up your facts with empirical evidence and not just some vague opinion.... Or else I won't deem u a reply..... |
LegoMetahuman:Seriously, I don't understand your point about this embargo on Chinese product.... It doesn't make sense at all.... Chinese that are all over the place in Africa trying to find market for their goods... They've flooded the whole global market with their product... U don't even need to travel to China to purchase made in China... U can buy made in China in America.... So pls let's just discontinue this needless argument pls... Makes no sense... America can deal with Nigeria in any way they feel like.... Whether it's illegitimate or not is inconsequential... It's the end result that matters.... That's what they did to get rid of GEJ..... America even placed arms embargo on Jonathan's govt- a civilian democratic govt at that... That single move gave boko haram a huge territorial advantage at the war front and decimated Jonathan's govt as weak and ineffectual.... His govt never recovered.... Be careful what u wish for.... Power is might.... |
LegoMetahuman:It's either u naive or just playing to the gallery... Ask Lybia, Iraq and Syria the definition of legal means to punish a nation.... I'm sure they will have a story to tell.... Or better still ask Venezuela that currently has 2 'legitimate' presidents.... Don't be surprised if Pentagon release a statement justifying why the 'reformed' boko haram should be armed to defend itself against the nigerian army's rampant human right abuses in the northeast..... America once armed Al Queda n would have armed ISIS if the latter had stuck to the original plan and not derailed.... Go and read about Pentagon policy of regional destabilization and it's main goals..... China placing trade embargo on nigeria is just too plain stupid.... What we buy from from China aren't essential commodities or capital goods.... They are mainly consumer goods that are sold in the open global market... Nigerian importers will simply look for alternatives elsewhere or buy from other countries..... Most Asian countries are export oriented economies, so they will be more than willing to replace China in Africa if they have the means.... |
EvilMetahuman:By the time they use armed bandits and boko haram to ravage your already weak n overstretched security system.... Or suddenly remembered biafra is a territory that has the right to self determination.... Or simply give the nod to Asari dokubo n his boiz to ensure no oil tanker lifts crude oil in niger delta. Then u go know say no be one road enter market... Nigeria is big for nothing.... If they want to rip it apart, they will.... And neither the nigerian govt nor the citizens can do zilch..... Na the aftermath refuge crises be nigerian saving grace... America has far greater influence than China anywhere in the world.... So long as the global economy is dollarized, America controls the string..... |
If she's got a Y chromosome hidden somewhere in her genetic make up.... then she's not a woman and shouldn't be competing with female athlete.... Simple... All these noise is from athletic corporate sponsors, who just want to cash on the fact that she's made the 800m race very popular..... due to ridiculous manner she leaves her fellow competitor behind.... |
chukxie:What u wrote up there is exactly the question nobody is asking.... Yes, I agree with trump- China is using it's communist ideology to exploit and weaken capitalist economies around the world.... China has run a lot of steel, aluminium, solar panel, rare earth extractive industries out of business by manipulating n disrupting the global market to their advantage.... Even the so called telecommunication market Chinese companies now dominate was simply because of underbidding and kicking out competitors when it comes to winning contracts..... Chinese govt banned giant internet companies in china so they can build their own internet companies.... No serious govt will sit down and allow China make a mess of its economies.... But the fact still remain China didn't force anyone to open factories in its country.... Foreign companies willingly relocated their manufacturing supply to supply because of cheap labour...... So why attack them in the first place for what they not responsible for.... Why can't trump order the greedy capitalist in wall street, silicon valley and Chicago to stop investing in china.... Why can't it tell Wal-Mart and other retail giant to find alternative supplies for their business.... He should insist American companies stop moving their manufacturing to China.... And just as u said.... American govt should invest in R& , increase scholarship for STEM programs in universities to discourage neck breaking students loans, encourage retraining of blue-collar workers who seem to have been left behind, invest in American declining physical infrastructure, encourage made in america via innovation and new technology.....This is what trump should do rather than attacking China.... Trump has got the diagnosis right but his overall management of the problem is wrong.... It's likely both China and their American culprits will simply wait out trump's tenure and then return to business as usual.... |
JimohMomoh:Na wa o Our govt no get sense at all.... Did anyone raise this with our lawmakers.... Nigerian govt has the least interest of its citizens at heart... All they care about is looting and sleeping with whores parading themselves as actress.... |
OAUTemitayo:So are u saying China isn't persecuting uighur Muslims..... If China wants to embarrass the so called western media.... let them allow foreigners have contact n interact with these uighurs, so we can know the true situation of things.... U can't continue to repress the freedom n expression of a group of people, detain them into educational camps, force their children to unlearn the uighur culture and yet claim any news about them in foreign media is false..... Pls let's be wise.... The uighurs are humans too n need to be heard.... They are presently being deprived of their rights n dignity by the communist party.... |
ultron12345:People like u enjoy nigeria because it's a lawless and disorganised nation where rule of law favours the high and mighty.... If I may ask, how much do u pay your domestic staffs, driver and security guard.... U see poverty stench all over the place yet u are comfortable because u definitely beyond the hook..... I'll rather have 50% of my money go to tax n have a nation that caters to everybody with good infrastructure and social service.... There's nothing u wrote up there, that's convincing for anyone to stay in nigeria.... That's why almost every upper middle class has relocated to Canada.... Even, okey bassey is not left out. He recently boasted about his daughter winning ontario federation athletic championship.... Can his daughter have such opportunity in nigeria.... Stay there dey deceive yourself..... |
Why should this even get to court... It makes no sense at all... |
sweetmelanin:The reality is the gap in socioeconomic status btw developed n emerging economies has narrowed recently..... Therefore, the euphoria of living abroad has lost the fantasy n taste it formerly enjoyed.... Nowadays u can choose to live in naija n still enjoy the life n comfort any developed country has to offer, so long u making good money.... It's very much possible for someone who grew up in a middle class family in naija to regret relocating abroad if the new country doesn't meet his/her expectation.... It's also possible for your standard of living to drop if u end up working low income job overseas.... People relocating should really sit down n know exactly what to expect, b4 embarking on the journey lest it turn to regret..... The days of travelling out just because u want to elevate your social status is gone..... Travelling abroad needs careful n structured planning if u have to succeed.... The situation wasn't much different in the 90s for african migrants..... It wasn't like they had it easier or climbed the economy ladder faster.... but the quality of life n standard of living btw developed n 3rd world countries was just too wide n non-comparable in any way, that returning home was never an option for those migrants.... Rather they accepted their fate n worked hard, so their kids can benefit from their sacrifice.... And for most, it did pay off..... Most recent migrants already have bread, butter, tea n egg for breakfast..... they just hoping by travelling out, they could get some mushroom, toast, n bacon to make a complete breakfast.... When it turns out that the ones they fomerly enjoy is taken off the table.... Their case becomes like that of the op..... |

China is ready to use rare earths to strike back in a trade war with the United States, Chinese newspapers warned on Wednesday in strongly worded commentaries on a move that would escalate tensions between the world's two largest economies. President Xi Jinping's visit to a rare earths plant last week had sparked speculation that China would use its dominant position as an exporter of rare earths to the United States as leverage in the trade war. Rare earths are a group of 17 chemical elements used in everything from high-tech consumer electronics to military equipment. The prospect that their value could soar as a result of the trade war caused sharp increases in the share prices of producers, including the company visited by Xi. While China has so far not explicitly said it would restrict rare earths sales to the United States, Chinese media has strongly implied this will happen. In a commentary headlined "United States, don't underestimate China's ability to strike back", the official People's Daily noted the United States' "uncomfortable" dependence on rare earths from China. "Will rare earths become a counter weapon for China to hit back against the pressure the United States has put on for no reason at all? The answer is no mystery," it said. "Undoubtedly, the U.S. side wants to use the products made by China's exported rare earths to counter and suppress China's development. The Chinese people will never accept this!" the ruling Communist Party newspaper added. "We advise the U.S. side not to underestimate the Chinese side's ability to safeguard its development rights and interests. Don't say we didn't warn you!" The expression "don't say we didn't warn you" is generally only used by official Chinese media to warn rivals over major areas of disagreement, for example during a border dispute with India in 2017 and in 1978 before China invaded Vietnam. In its own editorial on Wednesday, sister paper the Global Times said an export ban on rare earths "is a powerful weapon if used in the China-U.S. trade war." "Nevertheless, China will mainly use it for defense," it added, noting that while China might incur losses from a ban on exports, the United States would suffer more. The paper's editor had said on Twitter late on Tuesday that Beijing was "seriously considering" restricting rare earth exports to the United States. China has used rare earth sales to exert pressure in past diplomatic disputes. In 2010, Beijing cut rare earth export quotas after a Chinese trawler collided with two Japan Coast Guard ships near uninhabited islands in the East China Sea that both countries claim. In 2012, Japan, the United States and European Union complained to the World Trade Organization (WTO) over the restrictions. Two years later, China was rebuked by the WTO for citing environmental reasons to justify the quotas. It ultimately scrapped its export quota system after losing the case. Chinese trade experts say if Beijing moves forward with new restrictions on rare earth exports to the United States, it will likely follow Washington's example and use national security as a justification. China has repeatedly criticized Washington for what it says are abuses of national security exceptions at the WTO, including this week when, according to media reports, it accused the United States of breaking rules by blacklisting Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, the world's largest telecom network gear maker. China accounted for 80% of rare earth imports between 2014 and 2017 by the United States, which has excluded them from recent tariffs along with some other critical Chinese minerals. https://uk.mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUKKCN1SZ07V |
