ednut1: you clearly are not smart. This is my last comment here. I work in the oil and gas sector let me school you small. 1- exon, shell chevron help us drill crude/gas and also steal from it. Their refineries also convert it with crude along with indian refineries ( our refineries were from the french and are dead now). There is no oil in netherland but shell from the same country brings in billions from overseas
2- as we no get light we have to use generators from perkins(UK) and some asians ones- if we had light is there any market for those guys
3- cocoa from west africa is converted into billions of chocolate in the west and asia( if we had chocolate companies here would it benefit west?)
4. All the other things we import nko Does it not benefit them
Be smart bro. U say our leaders shud be smart. So our reps and senators shud make laws that will favour all of us So their 33m salary becomes 2m and the 5.5 billion car doesn't see the light of day. U dull sha All what u wrote up there is excuse.... We can game the global economic system to favour us, only if we have smart leaders that make the development of its county a priority.... The problem is our leaders are not smart n don't really give a damn about any real development in nigeria or elsewhere in Africa..... They see africa as a grave yard, a place befitting only for final resting place.... Leaders are rarely motivated to develop such places and that's the problem with africa.... Now lets take a look at present day nigeria.... The current Nigerian president lifetime ambition is entrenchment of fulani oligarchy in nigeria.... Do u think he cares about any anti-African policies developed by world bank or IMF.... How's that the fault of the white man, if u got no one to speak for u and fight your cause.... Have u heard of the phrase, principle of self preservation-My race first, then others.... All these talk about exporting natural resources and importing refined products is because we allowed them... Simple.... First it was western world, thereafter China joined in the exploitation and now its india.... Neother China nor India control the system.... So what's the excuse this time around... |

She is Nigerian as far as I’m concerned and her victory has made up a little for the sulking Nigerian athletes messing around in Douha until they get their pay checks and applause from misguided Nigerians who believe that by encouraging them to blame everyone else but themselves they are somehow teaching Nigeria Authorities lessons. Maybe, If nigeria had invested in our athletes like Bahrain did to Anwar eid nasar, the story may be different.... If anwar had remain patriotic to nigeria, I'm sure her case wouldn't be different from our other mediocre athletes n wouldn't be have made history last night..... It's very easy to throw dirt at our athletes but ask yourself... How come they excel beyond expectation once they make that decision to be unpatriotic.... Health › Re: Nigeria May Import Doctors To Address Shortage — Medical Guild by SIRTee15: 6:31am On Oct 02, 2019 |
PoliticalWitch: On a more serious note, we do have a shortage of medics. However, the shortage precceds Buhari's administration by decades.
Let's start with the fact that we are not turning out enough doctors yearly because of limited spaces in our unviersites (ironically the UK too has this problem...which is why they heavily recruit doctors from abroad....and why some UK citizens even go abroad to get their degrees!)...plus the fact that we are not even turning out enough specialist doctors.
Which leads to the next issue....funding. As it is, we spend $2bn on health annually. That money isn't enough. Add the fact that most hospitals charge very low hospital fees...and you have chronically underfunded hosptials.,....which at the teaching hospital level has an impact on training for doctors.
The Unions....NARD , NMA, etc have been crying about this for years...(an amusing thing I note about both the party supporters here....SLAPP44 and ...is that both APC and PDP have refused to listen to the cries of the medical doctor unions about funding)...and government doesn't listen to them.
But the sad thing is at the end of the day., we need money to improve conditions of service etc. I don't see APC improving the economy the way they should to improve funding...which leaves us with
1.Taking a loan
2.Raising hospital fees, taxes, etc to levels that would allow our hospitals be sustainably funded and financed....so that they can train more medics
3.Increasing university spaces...which means that the APC government should for example consider adding an extra 2 trillion naira for universites yearly.(which can be raised by remoiving subsides on fuel). Are u not tired of repeating same shit every now n then... Different username, same old dry stale... Increase tax, increase fees, increase loan bla bla bla... No fresh ideas at all.... U beginning to sound like a crack c.d..... |

wirinet: In the real world, sanctions don't work. People devise ways to go around it. Iraq and Syria under ISIS were selling hundreds of thousands of barrels a day, under tight embargo by the west. They simply ferried the crude by huge lines of trailers through Turkey. It may surprise you that Nigeria sells more crude illegally through the high seas than even officially.
An oil embargo against Nigeria can never be effective.
How will it be a lose lose situation? Are you saying China will not pay for the crude it takes from Nigeria? The only problem will be currency. Nigeria can then adopt the yen as our reserve currency as earlier proposed by Buhari.
Because it's a stupid issue. The government would never have imagined that our external reserves kept with US banks could be at risk, because of a stupid piece of paper.
We still keep asking, why did the previous administration not pay before it handed over. No new government will agree to pay a sum you willingly negotiated. If the government was not mischievous, it could have insisted P&ID to wait to negotiate with the incoming government. This guy u funny sha... Nigeria don't have what ut takes to survive western sanction..... Nigeria will simply be punching far above her weight.... Ordinary arms embargo on your military n next thing, boko haram will be having a jolly ride on the battle field.... Ask Jonathan.... And i wonder where u guys get the impression that nigeria survived under Abacha sanction.... I'll understand, but not on education.... one of the key step Nigeria needs to take at this time, in order to lift millions out of poverty is free and compulsory practical basic education for its citizens especially for those below the poverty level..... PoliticalWitch: No I am not.
You Nigerians think your country is as rich as the West. It isn't. We are a poor resource dependent, poorly led country. And yet, we somehow expect free education without thinking about how much it would cost.....
We have free education all over Nigeria...cheap educaiton. And at the end of the day, the schools from primary to tertiary are all badly equipped. Because we want free stuff ....while living on very low oil prices.
Look....I really want educaiton to be free. If it was up to me.....I would have free educaiton. God knows I know most of my countrymen are suffering. B
But we cannot pretend we have the money to fund it.
They pay heavy taxes in Europe for the purpose onf welfare, amenities, public transport etc...here in Nigeria we all rely on Niger Delta oil. The oil that we produce less than the United Arab emirates for a population of 150million and above (UAE has 11million people)...and you expect free educaiton from that??
Either we raise taxes, or we cut subsides on fuel, or we agressively become an industrial nation , and everyone pays taxes at the rate of 40-50% annually, then we can talk of free educaiton.
You cannot get N200000 worth for just N200.
I went to university at N2000 per sememster. My hostel was a mess. My labs were poorly equipped. Libraries did not have enough books. Meanwhile, the private schools are catching up and will soon surpass the free public schools. And when it is time for employment...guess who gets the jobs. The well trained private school grads...or the poorly trained public school free education products . u not being logical with this argument... u can't compare the system in a developed nation to a developing nation... compare Nigeria to another developing or emerging nation.... the first pathway towards economic prosperity is improved education attainment for majority of the population.... The above cannot be achieved by imposing school levies on students and their parents- those who can't afford it will simply stay away.... and the purpose will be defeated... travel to the north of this country and check whether those guys will be willing to pay for any entry fees as a requirement to send their wards to school... the rot in our education system isn't becos its free, its simply because the govt doesn't care.... what we need is change of attitude from govt to see education as a means to social and economic upward mobility irrespective of school fees.... many state govt universities are now as expensive as private ones, yet the rot remain...... most developing nations with low tax rate also offers free basic education to its citizens- even those without oil or proorer than Nigeria. |

And don't make it look like fruit juice was something Timothy drank every day like water. There's no way fruit juice can cure stomach ache.... Wine contains alcohol and ancient people knew alcohol kill organisms and numb pain..... That's why they pour it on wounds to aid healing and use it as anaesthetic when performing minor procedures on patient in ancient times.... In bible times, sanitation was poor and drinking contaminated water was quite common.... People believed drinking polluted water was the cause of stomach ache... Wealthy people generally avoid drinking water, rather ate their meals with wine...... Common people who had no choice, normally drink wine when they come down with stomach ache, hoping it will cure the ailment.... That was why Paul advised Timothy to start drinking wine as a remedy for his stomach ailment.... |

Zimbabwe has the best educational system in Africa and the economy was doing fine until he finally listened to the demands of his people that justice be done to land ownership in the country. The western world ruined Zimbabwe’s economy with crippling sanctions for daring to take away lands from white land grabbers.
South Africa that you are praising today is a walking time bomb. The xenophobic attacks that we are witnessing today is basically a result of the unequal distribution of economic resources between white and black South Africans. It is a pointer to the crisis that will soon engulf the country. A time will come when black South Africans will realize that African migrants are not their problem but white South Africans that control over 80% of the country’s wealth. When that time comes, the government of South Africa would have no choice than to pursue an economic redistribution policy that is similar to the land redistribution policy that Mugabe did.
Mugabe’s major mistake as far as I’m concerned was his refusal to quit the stage when the ovation was loudest. He should have handed over immediately after implementing the land redistribution policy. The west were able to blackmail him successfully due to his sit tight mentally. Mandela was wise, Mugabe was foolish... If Mandela had behaved foolishly when he became President, south Africa by now will be worst shit hole country in this world....
