@fatermathy, vibrant 99 everyone
Please as regards my issue am still looking for phd funding but as a plan B i will like to ask that if my sponsor pays my tuition fee of 10kcad ahead before the winter and i attach the receipt of payment with new application and also raise my account balance from 4million to 8million curtesy of parents good deed gifts of additional 4m to support studies parents pay slips for 6months promotion letters and assets as well as sponsors bank statement pay slips and employment letter. A good LOE showing the changes as well as using my wife and son as home ties will the application stand a chance then?

Anon123: Pls my advice to you is this... Get a sponsorship for a PHD, if not make sure you have very deep pockets. No other way. Finally, travel alone, use yout family as hometies and bring your family after you have landed in canada . Like how much? Will paying my fees plus 9m do? |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by skull4eva: 4:01pm On Sep 18, 2020 |
fratermathy: Honestly, I would advise you to get university funding at all cost. If that is impossible, you may be able to build your account. The PhD programme takes a minimum of 4 years. Apart from proving your living expenses and tuition for one year, the VO needs to be convinced that you can afford the remaining years. 9m may not actually prove this effectively. Maybe your Uncle can transfer some money to your account and then get a letter of support to show that. I don't know if this will be enough but it'll certainly make things better than they appear now.
It's best to leave your wife and kid and apply alone first. Once you get the visa, you can then bring them to Canada. Thank you fratermathy i actually told my sponsor to make tuition payment of 10k cad (3.5m) for my winter resumption so that i can add it along side my new reapplication. With this also i will raise my account to at least 8m too with 4m more from my parents good deeds to add to my initial 4m. I will leave my wife and son behind too. I will also add my parents payslip and properties to further buttress the home tie. I plan to reuse my previous sop add a new loe and den reapply against winter. With this will i stand a chance? |

fratermathy: Hi Skull4eva
Based on the GCMS note you shared, I can see that many things are wrong with your application. You seem to have gained admission to a PhD program without funding. Two or three of us warned you about that earlier. A PhD is like a full time job. You can't work or rely on others and do a PhD in Canada. It is almost impracticable except you are extremely wealthy but even then, the VOs won't buy it.
Secondly, you are relying on a third party sponsor at the age of 32. Will the 3rd party sponsor feed you and your family for 4 years and also pay your tuition? For a PhD and with your age, VOs would only believe self sponsorship.
Thirdly, why did you apply with your family? What would serve as home ties? PhD students are only bold to apply with family in the first instance when they receive ENOUGH funding or scholarship money. You need strong home ties since you are being sponsored essentially.
Final point: do everything you can to secure funding, however negligible, before you apply again. Don't repeat your mistakes. If you can't get funding, apply to another school! It is almost anomalous for a PhD to get rejected but notice that the VO didn't express concern about your study plan or intent. He is indeed convinced that you're a bona fide student but he suspects your motives and financial situation. You need to package your next application well. Get funding, try to apply alone, and write a good LOE.
Let's also have your complete profile so that others can contribute to what I've already said. Give us your application timeline too. Thank you fatermatty I applied with an closing balance of 3.1million Sponsor is my uncle and he has 65k cad in his account But my question now is this if i can increase my balance to cover 1year tuition and living expenses i mean to like 9m naira then use my wife and son as hometies will the application get approved? |

fratermathy: I did some research as promised and came across this:
It seems your request should be directed primarily to your supervisor. However, you should still send the request to the GPD. You shouldn't even have been admitted without financial support in the first place so you have a strong case here. Thank you @fratermathy i dont mind getting a draft from you on how to approach GPD. I really will appreciate that help |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by skull4eva: 7:42am On Aug 31, 2020 |
fratermathy: You should mail the GPD and your supervisor too. Just a simple mail requesting for financial assistance in the form of funding or assistantships. GPDs know how to get such funds to students, even if it's just a little. In some departments, even Masters students get some funding too.
Be polite in your email and don't appear as if you're begging. Hope you have the contact of the GPD of your department? You never mentioned the department. I'd like to know so that I can also research and explore possibilities for you, if any. Department of Bioresource Engineering. Please kimdly do help me with a format of such mail so that i can send it today and if i get a positive reply i will raise a web form and send to IRCC to boast my visa chances |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by skull4eva: 11:00pm On Aug 30, 2020 |
fratermathy: I see. Which department is that? Most departments offer full funding (tuition and living expenses). Did you request for funding from the GPD? The general advice is that one shouldn't do a PhD without some form of funding.
In any case, hope you made your proof of finance tight? That may be the only issue you may have but I would like to think you got that covered. I am just trusting God for that though sponsor had 65k cads (15k cad personal acct, 50k cad business acct with CAC and all) My salary account of 3.1m closing balance inflow and out flow of 10m. How do i go about getting funding from GPD. |

fratermathy: Approximately 2 months. What programme are you going for at McGill?
McGill students usually get their permits as long as they submit the rights documents. PhD no funding and am using an external co sponsor. |

JustMellow: Hello Skull4eva,
It can take up to 30 - 45 days but that of Chichi93 came in 16 days. So, I think getting it now is somewhat fast.
All he best Thanks brother. I appreciate it. My application changed to submitted on monday. |

fratermathy: This quickly corroborates the idea that the AIPs issued are actually indicators that the applicants will get their study permits. Those with AIPs who have ordered their GCMS notes so far have passed their eligibility and are only awaiting biometrics and maybe medicals before they get their approvals. I believe that September will come with a lot of PPRs. Please how many days does it take ti get gcms note after one applys. |
