So the governor is too daft to know that when you are not refining a product, and you keep importing astronomical amounts of the refined products with a weakened currency in a market that is not deregulated, the product's price will never come down?

Daft people we have in government houses all the way. Importation of petroleum products is the number one contributor of the excessive dollar demand we have as a country. But with the Mike Otedolas of Nigeria funding the PDP, how can we move ahead?

After reading several threads on mini importation, I felt I should give it a try.I decided to import some watches just for the experience and to see how genuine the system is.I went on aliexpress, ordered the watches ( about 10 of them ) and payed the seller and asked him to ship to Michael ( Nonnykings).Asked Michael to shipped express for me.My seller said he has shipped to Michael and Michael said he has not received.its been three days.so the question is where are my watches. The seller gave me a tracking code 131708107709 the problem is I don't even understand what is on the site sf-express.com.The pros please should I begin to worry or I should just relax knowing that its been 3day since seller said he has shipped.
You are supposed to have buyer protection which means that even though your bank has removed the money from your card, the money is in escrow and not in seller's hands. You have the option of raising dispute once buyer protection is about to expire. I think you should wait a little bit more and use some of the other tracking sites such as 17track.net to do the tracking.

You are not supposed to pay a dime. I suggest you change banks and report that branch to the YouWIN secretariat. They will be blacklisted and delisted. At Zenith bank, we were treated like eggs. Even till today because they are seeing the value of business we now do in monetary terms.

Any bank that treats you like shi..t is not worthy of your money. Get that manager's name and branch and file an official complaint to the YouWIN secretariat. If you fail to act now, tomorrow they will start debiting COT charges from you for no reason. Impunity galore!

YOu just learnt a sweet lesson. Never enter cabs or bikes in front of a bank. People don't go to bank with bags to carry garbage or firewood. Anyone who comes out of a bank with a bag must be carrying money. Why make yourself an easy target?

At least you only lost money. A woman, her police escort and driver were gunned down in 2010 in front of First Bank along Rumuola road at 1.05pm. I am sure you heard of that incident.

Use online banking. That is why CBN created it. Personally I never move more than 30,000 in cash for any reason. If it can't be sent via internet banking, then I will issue a cheque. It is that simple.

I understand that GTB has about 250 accounts allocated to them for Youwin! 3. It has already been correctly said by someone on this thread that Youwin! has asked the banks to send weekly reports on account opening progress. My contact said when they sent the report last week, only about 100 accounts had been opened. Youwin! complained that it was too small to release funds - which they prefer to do in bulk!. My contact told me as at now, about 150 accounts have been opened, and that d 1st tranche funds are available, but slow progress from awardees in opening account is stalling things - not the banks or Youwin!. Now this is only for GTB, I don’t know for other banks.
This is why I said in an earlier post that the focus should be on getting people to submit the requirements for account opening early. The focus here now should be on telling awardees how they can get their TIN and referee reports, which are the two documents that delay account opening.

without taking side. Oga stagger , i admire your intelligence, but you need to be more diplomatic. I av be follwing this thread from first stage, i remeber you case with cool kizzy, but sincerely. Also i remeber the issue of watch lion den on dstv and how you present it the house. It sound so rude for someone like me. I can revisit some of those comment.
When blink182 loses in stage two he admit his mistake, he is still humble to even ask people to help him out. Because you have some business moving now, who knows tommorw. Let s humble ourSelf. then is also very good. You@stagger and denn) are with wondeful contribution, but denn always share with diplomacy. I am not insulting you , but you must admit you are not perfect in this area. And you must be willing to change. All of us need help ooo. YOU DONT KNOW TOMMORW. DONT MOCK ANYONE.
@blink18t take it easy also. Let us respect ourselve.
I dont think anyone shud mock anyone for missing youwin3. I did my best but it believe it was grace of God that help me. Without God , i am nothing. Except God favour a man, he will just labour in vain, so i wont mock anyone. I hope this wont attract insult . Thanks
The main issue is that I and Jeffmyson had a little argument on an issue, which we both allowed to rest and moved on. But Blink182 has made it a habit of picking quarrels with me. This is not the first time. Why would he decide to pick quarrels with me when I am not even addressing him? I give someone an honest answer based on my experiences on certain issues, and he decides to start using insults.

I have no business with Blink182, and I have no issues with anyone here. Any arguments I make with people, I hardly even carry them over. I am combative in arguments by nature. It has its good and bad parts, which I admit. But when someone who is not even the subject of the argument takes it upon himself to hurl insults at me, I will not just keep quiet. I will tell them things they need to know about themselves.

Blink182's posts from the start of this particular thread just reek of arrogance. It just jumps out at you. Now he has brought it here. I was advising someone on how to use his 1M effectively. That individual actually directed his question at me, Jeffmyson and Denn, NOT BLINK182.

What does he do? He says "Shut your mouth, you are just talking rubbish". He was not the one asking the question, my answer was not directed at him, and he had to get those abusive words off his chest in my direction.

So yes, I will tell him to his face: he is arrogant and cocky. He needs to mind his business and stay off my comments. If he wants to know a piece of what I do for money, let him send his email address and I will send him a non-sensitive document to show him one of my businesses. He can then come to the house and indicate whether I am an "audio-millionaire" or an authentic millionaire.

Hello all, I am a YouWIN 3 awardee. I've been following this thread for a while now. I want to start by commending your maturity. You guys are great!

my question is directed @jeffmyson, Denn, stagger.
I want to go into plantain flour processing, I applied for 7M and but YouWIN slashed it to 5M. My tranche 1 is now going to be 1M.

Here is what i have in mind, to use the 1M and rent a space, put a few offices together, do all registrations and licensing needed and then wait for tranche 2 which I can now use to purchase the machineries and start production.

But now that I just learnt tranche 2 might take up to 7months, my plan doesn't look wise again.

Plantain flour processing involves machineries. How am I suppose to start a plantain flour plant with 1M and start generating cash flow b4 tranche 2?

Thanks so much.
Well, you need a space and you need the registrations (NAFDAC for instance). What you can do is to collect proforma invoices from the machinery manufacturers and make sure you have all receipts for purchases at your disposal. I do not know what targets you were given in terms of employment and monthly revenue, but you can employ one staff who will be paid the least. If you can exhaust the money and prepare the financial report for the 1st visitation by the SMEDAN and private monitors, you can convince them to make a case for you at the YouWIN secretariat to get the tranche 2 released early. Use the proforma invoices to show you are ready to move to the next stage.

If you are lucky, you may get your 2nd tranche 3 months after the 1st.

Stagger, pls tel me where and how 2 purchase d Quickbooks software u mentioned. Also, pls enlighten me on d monthly financial reports we will be required 2 send. My business is new and it is sales of computers, phones, etc. I was awarded 8m of d 10m I applied for. I intend 2 have a good show room, and high quality branding. I figure my 1st tranche(1.6m) will only be sufficient 2 rent a location, set up my showroom, get my branding done, and probably buy 3-4 laptops. I don't even know yet how I'll accommodate employees salaries, I intend 2 start wit 3 of d 8 I proposed in my biz plan and pay 30k each, remember I too have 2 be on salary. Pls giv me ur thoughts on my situation. Thanks.
Quickbooks software has an online version which can be purchased from their website with your Nigerian ATM card.

Jefmyson and Denn have hit the nail on the head. The gap between tranche 1 and 2 could be up to 6 to 9 months. If you go ahead with your plan of spending the whole of the 1st tranche on rent, branding and showroom, you will run into huge problems. Don't you think it is better you invest tranche 1 in what will bring in money into your business? Most of it should be invested into products. You do not need a fancy show room. You want to take yoru YouWIN money and make some landlord somewhere a rich man? Haaah!

Buy lots of products with most of the money. When you sell them, use a portion to pay salaries and running costs (which should be kept very low). Branding (if you even need it this 1st year) should be reserved for your 3rd tranche. For our biz, we were lucky it was an existing business; we had to finance a lot of stuff before tranche 2 came, because it took close to 7 months after tranche 1 before it came.

You must spend this time NOW to look for a cheap shop in a good location. Nothing says you cannot sell your products through online stores as well as in your shop. Start thinking of other value added services your business can engage in. Have you thought of learning phone and laptop repairs so you can add this as a second income stream by the side? You can also pass on this knowledge to others and charge a fee. Be creative. Take initiatives to get money outside of the YouWIN grant to put into your business.

Do not forget advertising. In essence, what we are saying here is that you should use your 1st tranche only on things that will directly bring in money, which is your products, advertising and setting up a spin off income earner from your business, NOT ON BRANDING AND A GLAMOROUS SHOWROOM!

I repeat: it can take up to 6 to 9 months to get tranche 2! Do not get caught out.

Mr Stagger, pls learn 2 choose your word in most cases on this thread. Sometimes ur address to fellow awardee is hard. I believe that we will NOT want the "soup ideology" again and we don't want the type of quarrel with "favoryourl" again. Let us continue with our mutual respect.
Sorry if I come across as a hard man. But what I told you about the release of tranches is the stone cold truth. Awardees should use their first tranche carefully and ensure that their businesses are making money. We do not know what 2015 will bring. The government may stop the program due to dwindling finances. Or they may not (we pray this is the case). Inside information has it that YouWIN has had many enemies especially from the Northern elite. GEJ and NOI had to stand their ground to force the program through. Otherwise which of all our presidents has ever come up with something like this which is evaluated strictly on merit? In Nigeria? Haaaah!

Just use your tranche 1 carefully. Tranche 2 typically takes time because its release depends on satisfactory tranche 1 usage. There will be lots of monitoring visits. Those who are bad in keeping records or accounting should purchase Quickbooks software and learn to use it now, because you MUST send your monthly financial reports for the entire 1 year you will be supervised. Once you navigate tranche 1 and 2, tranche 3 is usually released in the 12th month, and is yours to keep or use as you want.

Tranche 1 and 2 are critical, but the release times are unsteady, unpredictable and can be very long. Dem say advice no be curse.

Yes @ stagger, however Nigerian Crude is the Brent crude and it is trading at $69/pb which is well below the 2014 and 2015 budget benchmarks.

The only thing I want to assure Youwin Awardees is that no matter what happens the Government plans to keep the Youwin Program going. NOI spoke explicitly last week at the Capital market summit that the Program will continue despite the difficulties and even said the president launched the 4th edition and the SME growth fund as a demonstration of his Goodwill towards the program. The government plans to introduce austerity measures but the Youwin Program will not be affected as those are the social safety nets the government plans to use to spur the economy.

In the interim, people should not resign their jobs until they actually see the Youwin funds in their accounts! Though I believe a lot of people are passionate about their business and are throwing in all they have which is good.

Finally the Naira is now trading at N182.55 to the dollars at the interbank market today, it means definitely that the CBN will further devalue the currency if the trend continues. My take is that the naira should be out rightly devalued to N200 to avoid all the speculations and save our scarce foreign reserves.
Nigerian crude is of the LIGHT SWEET variety which has a low sulphur content and cheaper to purify and refine, unlike the heavier BRENT crude drilled from the North Sea which as a higher sulphur content and is more expensive to purify and refine. Mr Man, go and get your facts straight and stop spewing your ignorance here.

This is a VERY BAD news on the 1st day of the last month of year 2014!!!
It is not bad news. It is reality. I cannot believe someone said she quit her job in expectation of the 1st tranche. Obviously she must be handling a new business. If she had plowed through the business terrain in Nigeria before, she would have known that you cannot put total faith in the words of politicians. Words like "as soon as possible", or "as soon as is practicable" are short forms of saying "we don't know when we will release the money".

Now that light sweet crude is trading at $63 a barrel as at this morning, (a full $10 below the proposed 2015 benchmark), people have to be careful. There is a proviso that the government has the right to suspend the program when and if it deems it fit to do so, without any explanation to anybody.

Which brings me to the point: how many YouWIN awardees actually read the contract papers through and through, or actually sought legal advice to explain the wordings of the document? Or were people just in a hurry to sign and collect "free" government money?
BusinessRe: Devaluation: Naira Now N183 To The Dollar by stagger: 12:53pm On Dec 01, 2014
The CBN should allow the Naira to float to its true level. The true level should be at about N220 to N250. It is only when we start working on our fundamentals that we will get it right.

A weak currency is not always bad; but if a country is a net importer then that will be a disaster.

I got a good place strategically lacted that I would have rented for my new school. It was under construction, I negitiated with them that if the money am expecting come on time I will pay them to finish up the building. Eventually they finally finished the who building in October and put finall touch middle of October. I gave them deposit a day after the signing of the agreement after waiting for me, they finally gave it out to another person just last week and refunded my deposit deducting for 1 month from my money because, that is my agreement with them. When I gave them the deposit. I had been promising them soon, soon, soon and it appears to them as if the soon was becoming unacceptable for them. Since the place is cheap and at the same time hot cake. Now I have to start looking for another place again. Also the agent fee I paid is gone. God will help us
Let me advise you. Our experience with YouWIN 2 showed that tranches can be massively delayed. My sister's company got tranche 1 after 3 months, tranche 2 after almost 8 months, and before they got tranche 3 in the final month, they had to submit all manner of documents, financial and audited reports, survey forms, and endure endless visitations from the SMEDAN and private monitors. Some forms had to be submitted up to 3 times again and again.

Point: release of tranches has no timetable and is highly unreliable. If you depend on it to make certain financial decisions such as the one you just did, you will be in for a lot of problems. Make sure that by the time your first tranche is fully spent, your business has started to make money. Otherwise you will be in for a very long thing.

Congrates. Now it remains YouWiN! secretariat. Fellow millionaires, if by this Monday 1st December, we dont start getting bank alert, from Tuesday let us start sending email to YouWiN! secretariat appealing to them to help hasting up the process of releasing our first tranche.
Mr Man, save your energy for other things. It can take up to 3 months for this to happen. All the monies are released at once so if there are those whose details aren't complete, the money will not be released. You should focus on appealing to your fellow awardees to make sure they tidy up their bank account opening as fast as possible.

If you think tranche 1 is the problem, wait until it is time for tranche 2. That can take up to 7 months.

Tnx 2all Youwin1, 2 & unique Youwin 3 lol that has contributed towards achieving successful candidate for Youwin 4.

Lemmi Point out some observations base on my personal view pls:

1. Youwin Ideal Candidate
In UW stage1; You might not be selected base on the proffessionality of ur application. Uw is looking for pple with the rite biz mind set, adequate biz base knowledge and rite passion for success and sustenance of ur proposed biz. That's why there is a 1 one week training after selection.
Me I didn't get my break even well in stage1 but bc of the training in stage2 "I did great".
2. Salary
Don't present urself too money conscious by wanting to pay ur self salary from month 1 wen u've not started anytin production (eg. Poultry pple). I started paying myself from month 4.
3. On Additional Relevant Information.
This part is very important. Pls do ur best here by demonstrating passion and commitment towards realization of ur proposed biz.
4. Counterpart Contribution
U'll ve to show the amount u're contributing to ur biz. Just as uw will be paid on tranches. So ur contribution can be spread too. I wrote 3m contribution which will be accounted tru purchase of my land n building of structures.
5. New Biz
Weather u're writing on new biz or not, pls showcase some steps u re doing to finance or start ur biz. Very important. Nobody will empower an idol person or mind or idea. Don't just write all ur idea futuristic.
6. Marketing
Pls demonstrate ur biz based knowledge on strategies to market ur ideas. Wat a waste if u can produce n dnt knw how to sell?
7. How much Do you want from Youwin
Be realistic with ur propose amount because the amount u quote will be use against u in later stage (interview stage)
8. Management Experience
A small demonstration of managerial experience will get u selected in stage1 but lack of adequate relevant knowledge will get u disqualify in later stages or reduction of ur quoted amount.
9. Employment.
UW is geared towards job creation. So ur best innovative idea without creating appreciatable number of jobs is simply self empowerment n won't scale tru.
10. God Factor
Nothing generally succeed without God backing. Apart from ur knowledge and intensive write up. U need God to ensure ur success. While u prepare, remember to put God first and lemmi Him know that ur wealth is to advance His kingdom and not just for ur belly Kingdom.
GoodLuck to all of You.
In Nigeria, No new Govt will sustain the initiative of another Govt. So its back on us to ensure we Vote GEJ 2015 to keep the Youwin3&4 Dream Alive. #GoodLuck
So when you setup a new branch and appoint a manager, you will tell him or her not to take salary until the 4th month. Is that it?

Pls don't give people bad advice. I have been an observer in an international business plan competition where someone got disqualified on this point.

You are a staff. Pay yourself and others from day 1. This adds realism to your business. You won't impress anybody in a panel by telling them you won't take a salary.

Parental consent is highly paramount, but exerting authority like a despot, making selfish reasons why they may not lend their blessings is what I may not agree on.
Perfect example is my younger sis. Why wld my mom not agree on her choice of life partner simply because the guy isn't a member of her denomination? This s a serious issue now because she s being all alone on this as I have joined hands with my sis hence we might go ahead if she fails to support her choice.
I know of a pastor in that church who failed to show up in for hie sons wedding because of that too
Spiritual compatibility is highly important. If man and wife are attending different churches with different doctrines, where do the children go and how can both be reconciled together?

I do not even want to talk of if a muslim man marries a christian woman. That is like fuel and water mixing. I have an inlaw in that boat and I can tell you it is not a palatable story.
