2011/07/28 12:30:00 U.S. weekly initial jobless come in at 398K vs. exp 415K and prior 422K (revised 418K) Naijababe, what does this portend for the NASDAQ? I want to start trading this index. |
Safety in times of uncertainty. That is what is driving strength in the Swiss Franc. The question is, what time is the House voting on Boehner's plan for budget cuts on social security? And what will it do for the US dollar? It is all about perception. Until that question is answered in a few hours, I am sticking to safety. Meanwhile, I am attaching a forex pivot point calculator which has so far, clearly shown the pivot levels at which we are seeing all the bounces and pull backs. |
There are many interesting setups. The GBPCHF is seeing a strong support being tested, so also the USDCHF testing that 0.8000 level seriously. Many other pairs are in consolidation. I intend to use the Basic Bollinger strategy to pick pips on the range-bound pairs seriously. |
success4:Let us have an intellectual discussion on this subject starting now. I have already pointed out that a gold standard cannot work for an import oriented economy, because you need to sell in order to even get the gold to hold as reserves to support your currency. Go and read the mercantilist scholarly articles written in the 18th century and you will see how even in those early days, the Europeans knew that in order to dominate the Third World, they had to turn us into import driven nations. Let us hear your own argument on this matter. Tell us why you would support a gold standard. Over to you. |
At last, the market is awake. |
logic101:Can you name one item you are producing in Nigeria which is not being imported right now? Even your crude oil you think you are making money on, they refine and cause you to buy it back from them, telling you not to fix your refineries, telling you to sell it the way NAFCON and Eleme Petrochemical company was sold to the Indians, telling you you should privatise everything and sell to the foreigners with the collusion of people like Atiku and Odili who still retain shareholding interests in those companies. Are you so dumb that you cannot see where such a "gold-standard" policy for a 100% import-dependent nation like Nigeria will take us? Haba mana! We should think please! |
This Buhari man is too dense for words. I have done a lot of research on the 1944 Bretton-Woods agreement that pegged the UD dollar to gold at $35 an ounce, and pegged other European currencies to the US dollar at varying rates and I can easily tell that such a system will NEVER work in today's world. Does he know why that agreement collapsed in 1971? Since when did Buhari becoma a guru in Economics? How long did the price control regime he introduced in 1984 last? You do not control the supply of an item to match the demand, and you are setting price control. How does it work? He should go and reign in his CPC members, many of whom I am sure are now in the Boko Haram and leave Economics to those who know. |
Kashif:Australia's CPI was higher than the consensus. Result was released sometime between 3am and 4am. Higher CPI leads to greater interest rate hike expectations. Given than Australia has the highest interest rate of the currency majors, it is not hard to see why the AUDUSD and AUDJPY are going north, same as gold, the commodity of the AUD (Australia has the largest gold reserves and is the No. 1 exporter). Always good to know the news behind the news. |
I have heard some things about the system of CGPA computation not being the same with other universities. Can anyone with some truth about this shed some light? For example, I know some schools were CGPA is calculated using a final year GPA (making up 50%) and that of the other years making up 50%. I think NUC needs to step in and make the CGPA calculation uniform so we know who is who. |
From my live fx news source: 2011/07/26 21:50:00 "USD/JPY once again makes post intervention lows just below 77.90. However, caution should be heeded when chasing yen strength as BoJ officials have ramped up intervention rhetoric as of late." |
I just decided to sleep the whole day off after catching the Asian moves today. Just too tired. No price action worth noting. Of course naijababe the indices trader shouldn't have no problems. This is why it is good to be versatile. See you all tomorrow. Hope I do not miss anything. |
Bigots everywhere. You guys all make me sick. |
phreakabit:This looks more like the dormitory in NYSC camp. |
odiaero:Do you just trade any news that comes your way? |
redsun:You are an cretinised im.becile. Listen to yourself. ![]() |
Probably. But remember that the Swiss national Bank had 1.4500 as the threshold for EURCHF. Eventually they got tired of interventions and we see the currency pair now trading at 1.1500-1.1600. So it is not a hard and fast rule. But definitely, the BoJ will get worried if the USDJPY starts to fall below 78.00. |
honeric01:2011/07/25 21:19:00 USD/JPY reaching post-intervention lows just above the 78.00 figure; downside remains in view but we'd be cautious for a ramp up in BoJ rhetoric at current levels. 2011/07/25 23:38:00 *JAPANESE FINANCE MINISTER NODA SPEAKS IN TOKYO 2011/07/25 23:39:00 *NODA SAYS HE WILL CONTINUE TO CAREFULLY MONITOR MARKETS 2011/07/25 23:39:00 *NODA SAYS HE WILL CONTINUE TO CAREFULLY MONITOR MARKETS There was an intervention by the Bank of Japan. Apparently, they have set 78.00 as the threshold below which the USDJPY must not go below. Remember that Japan is an export-based economy which relies on a weak Yen for more exports and more money. If the JPY is too strong, it hurts exports. |
honeric01:Genesis 14:1 NIV84 Abram Rescues Lot 14 At this time Amraphel king of Shinar,[m] Arioch king of Ellasar, Kedorlaomer king of Elam and Tidal king of Goiim 2went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar). 3All these latter kings joined forces in the Valley of Siddim (the Salt Sea[n]). 4For twelve years they had been subject to Kedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled. 5In the fourteenth year, Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him went out and defeated the Rephaites in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, the Emites in Shaveh Kiriathaim 6and the Horites in the hill country of Seir, as far as El Paran near the desert. 7Then they turned back and went to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they conquered the whole territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who were living in Hazazon Tamar. 8Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and drew up their battle lines in the Valley of Siddim 9against Kedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king of Ellasar–four kings against five. 10Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and when the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some of the men fell into them and the rest fled to the hills. 11The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food; then they went away. 12They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom. 13One who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the great trees of Mamre the Amorite, a brother[o] of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were allied with Abram. 14When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Dan. 15During the night Abram divided his men to attack them and he routed them, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus. 16He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people. My friend, I also read my bible and do not spend my whole time trading forex! You should do the same too. cold:There is no where in the bible it says "heaven helps those who help themselves. Try to read bible before you start misquoting please. |
Where are all these people against use of firearms getting their rhema from? Abraham had 318 armed servants born in his house. David, the man after God's heart (God gave that description Himself) had the deadliest army at the time. Even Christ's disciples were armed. Can we go on and on? All these people preaching otherwise, the day robbers will show up at your doorstep is the day you will know the use of firearms. Even my pastor said it, there are some demons that money can bind. If your gen is bad, stop praying. Take money and replace or repair it. Likewise, I say if the Bokites are around, by all means Bishop Adeboye should employ more SSS guys to protect NOT JUST HIMSELF, but to serve as a deterrent to mischief makers all around. The day 3 robbers went to a church in PH some years back and attempted to snatch a woman's car in the church premises, it was not time for prayer o. Some brave guys rushed the robbers, disarmed them and killed them there in the church. Our problem in Nigeria is that we depend too much on prayer and cannot do for ourselves what we need to do. Oh, lest I forget, people make una read the book of Revelation. Even the very throneroom of God IS GUARDED BY CHERUBS. Abi e no dey for una bible? |
Jesus Christ's disciples were armed. Did you not read where he asked them to gird up their sheaths for the battle ahead (figuratively) and they showed him two swords (literally)? And again when he was being arrested in Gethsemane, Peter took off someone's ear with it? The problem is that over the years, people have come to associate Christianity as a religion for weaklings, which is why anytime there is a religious riot, you see churches being burnt en masse. Well, enough of such nonsense. Any man of God is free to carry as many gun-wielding guards as possible. At least we will not see Rev Adeboye being killed like Bishop Iloputaife. Anyone of the bokites who tries anything funny will know what he is up against when they see those wicked looking weapons on display. That is the spirit and I love it. Anyone who doesn't like it can go bury his head up his a.rse! |
Chrisbenogor:I believe the civilian variants are being made right now in Canada. You fit go there buy one. make dem catch you for illegal possession for naija, you go know how far. |
That gun is the TAVOR Assault Rifle-21st century (TAR-21), an Israeli-made weapon used by the Israeli Defense Forces and the official issue rifle for the State Security Services in Nigeria. In these times of the madness of the Bokites, Rev Adeboye has every right to appeal to the President (whom he knows one on one) to provide him with state security to deal with any Boko haram bastards that try to mess around. |
Joshcoli:We were all there once. I remember all the big talk we used to talk in our final year in school way back in the 90s. The truth is that most people will never become billionaires because they will not be able to handle the baggage it comes with. Check the lives of billionaires. Yes they have the good things of life, but what about all the envy, the lawsuits, the scandals, all the enemies waiting to take a bite out of that wealth? You think Dangote sleeps at night? I sincerely doubt it, because his entire life will now be consumed with how to prevent his empire from being taken apart from the numerous enemies he has made over the years, merely by being that rich. The life of a billionaire no dey easy. |
buy1get2:Here's a tutorial for you: RANGE TRADING. Search for forex forums that talk about this topic and master it. It is a great way to pick pips when the market is consolidating or range trading. Range trading usually occurs when the market is expecting some big news to give it direction. For the EURUSD, that news is the issue of the debt ceiling with the deadline to raise it just five trading days away.
|
There have been more than enough trading opportunities today. Look at the EURUSD. It has been range-bound between R1 and S1. Trading between the support and resistance is the basis of range trading strategies. Simply buy at a support and sell at a resistance. I have been doing this since morning and banking pips. But again, a trader can only use what he knows to use. So use only what works for you. I think the EURUSD is probably waiting for Washington. August 2 is only 5 trading days away. The closer we get there, the more there will be rumbles in the jungle. I think the babe among us trading the stock indices and oil must be making more money than those of us who are stuck with fx. No be so? |
Gov Amaechi needs to stop giving road contracts to local contractors. The nature of the soil is not one that can support sub-standard road jobs. You may get away with it in the north, but not in a state that is in the Mangrove swamp area. The Choba-Rumuokwuta road is a case in point. The stories behind the contract award of that road are simply distasteful. Already, some of the areas around the Ozuoba axis are showing signs of disrepair. This is a section that I am quite sure is not up to a year old. He needs to look into the roads seriously. |
If you were anywhere else except being bullish on the Swiss Franc as I pointed out, you may not be there yet. But if you were bullish on the CHF, I would say, yes,we are there! |
Watch the time on that signal: 7.23am. I have already banked 100 pips on the GBPCHF short. In forex, timing is everything. |
2011/07/25 07:23:00 Moody's Cuts Greece Rating By Three Notches I would be aggressively selling EURCHF right now, or buying CHF against any of the majors. |
Part of the problem is whether the person involved will be willing to go down to the depths of life to get back up. For example, I once had a townsman asking me for money when very close to his house, a massive construction work was going on where labourers and masons were being paid N2500 per day. He preferred the "easier" route of asking me for money, rather than going to work there for the six months that project was on. If he was there for three months, he would have made 2,500 X 24 days X 3 months = N202,500. I bet you, he could have lived on N15,000 a month for three months, and had change of more than N150,000 to start his life. So my brother, that is part of the problem with us modern-day graduates. We are too concerned about making money the "pretty" way without breaking a sweat. Life is not like that! |
I will subscribe to selling things you do not need, but that is just to provide money so you can eat while you think up something real fast. Going to family for help? Forget it. |
EEspeed:Banza. Tell us what has happened to your short position on EURUSD. A sensible fellow would have printed out the posts on this thread from page 1 and read it, studied the charts and before you know it, you will pick up a few things. Not coming here to ask us to tell you where to set stop loss and take profit. If you have nothing to contribute, get the hell out of this thread! ![]() |
