anytime i see EFCC and Yahoo boys posts, am always happy! Sweep away this guys. They have motivated many hardworking youth to become fraudsters like them, made many question their creator if they are born different, made many excessively lust for money, made many do anything for money, made many envy them, they have made things difficult for we youths doing legit business as there is no trust between seller and the buyer, they have tarnished our image both local and international, and yet they feel no remorse, they worship and praise the act like NAIRAMARLY, Zlatan Ibile, Slimcase and many more of them. Gradually we will defeat them all #SayNoToCyberCrime

Anyway, is your laptop faulty, non functioning, need upgrade or maintenance? Do you need I.T Support? Dont worry, we gat you. Check my signature for contact details
If things continue the way it's going, you may one day be paraded like these guys for being with a laptop. What did you read up there as the crime these boys committed?

Probably you are right, but “the country with highest number of individuals involved in defrauding people” should be Nigeria. 9.5 out of 10boys are into yahoo. cry
Really? where did you get the statistics from? So all the young men in your family are internet fraudsters?

I don't know what they did, but there's nothing in this report that shows what this guys did.

Having a laptop and working from home is no crime at all. That's all I know.

EFCC should stop criminalizing laptops. investigate, find your evidence, charge the person to court, and then display the pictures after conviction. This retrograde practice which Nigerians are condoning is evil and does no one any good.

in a country that see anyone with laptop as a fraudster what do you expect? even the masses believed that anyone that have laptop is a fraudster so is about the time we reap what we plant. when the issue of arresting and intimidating anyone with laptop come up last year i comment on this nairaland that police is doing a bad job, in this century everyone need desktop or laptop not android phone. If not my computer i may not be able to be importing from USA and UK, there's millions of programs that cannot open with phone. so Nigerians should change their mentality about labeling one with laptop a fraudster if not times is coming for Nigerian police to be going inside people room in search of laptop as if laptop is gun. i become a successful farmer today because with my laptop i connect the world farmers association and download and get all help i need and also buy some farming equipment direct from the producers. in this 20 century everyone deserve to have laptop so backwardness north occupied Nigerian police force should allow Nigerians to join other part of world in technology village and initiatives.
This is what I have been lamenting. Nigeria law enforcement is criminalizing laptops. Everytime laptops are paraded as if laptop is a weapon for crime — a 21st century economy where the entire world is connected online. The nonsense has gotten so bad that the ignorant masses support them and now see anyone with a laptop as a fraudster.

I work for clients in Canada, USA, Sweden, Thailand, etc from my home. It annoys me when my neighbors mumble Yahoo Yahoo beside my windows. It's very crazy, but I gotten used to it. What a country.

Civilized countries are encouraging the gig economy and its benefits — less traffic and city decongestion. In fact, some companies in the US pay citizens to move to the suburbs and work from home. If there's good network and electricity, I would prefer a serene suburban residence to the noisy city atmosphere
PhonesRe: How Can You Rationally Justify Spending N600,00 On A Phone? by studentofTruth: 3:17pm On Sep 29, 2019
Kennydoc:
The point in bold isn't complete. A rational human being can also spend money on what gives them satisfaction, pleasure, fulfilment etc. Some people's happiness and fulfilment per day is worth hundreds of thousands of Naira, and if a 600k phone can give them that fulfilment, they will buy it.

Imagine your monthly earning is ₦2m or more, will you consider it wasteful buying a phone of ₦600k? Even with your alms giving, a time comes when you feel like, mehn I gotta enjoy this money a little otherwise you live your entire life working only for others to enjoy.

You question is beyond phones. It basically applies to everything: cars, clothes, houses etc. Your income determines what you consider expensive and at the same time valuable. To someone who earns ₦100k per month, a car of ₦5m will be too expensive while to the guy who earns ₦5m per month, a car of ₦5m will be below his status.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge which is still very clean and working perfectly fine, but right from the time I bought it 2 years ago, I was determined that my next phone would be Galaxy Note 10. In the next couple of weeks, I will take delivery of a Note 10+. Will you then consider my purchase of the phone and say I am irrational when I know I can afford it, I'm not extravagant by any chance, and I've also not been terrible with respect to helping people, even strangers?
I think you misunderstood the OP. Those things you mentioned: satisfaction, pleasure, fulfilment etc, are part of the value (categorized under intangible value).

As regards cars, someone may be earning #1-2m per month and still decide not to get a car because he doesn't need it — maybe his job doesn't require him moving about or he's in a place where the public transportation system is very comfortable and easy.

That's Bill Gates leasing a Yatch for 5million Dollars per week. What do you have to say? Was he being irrational?
You just proved OP's case for him. The real rich business guys go for value.

Bill Gate can afford to outrightly buy it but he knows he doesn't need the yatch all year round, so he leases it when he needs it — saves him the cost of maintenance in addition to the initial cost of acquiring it.

The prince who inherited most of his wealth spent $500million buying it and will spend more for yearly maintenance.

Value >>> affordability

Don't ever compare Nigeria 's borrowing to America. USD is the currency for international transactions and they print it in-house. For Nigeria, foreign loans must be paid from foreign reserve.

Are you aware that some people do legitimate job online from home? That someone is working from home with a laptop doesn't make him an internet fraudster, and harrassing an innocent person is a crime. Why can't they investigate before all this media harrasment. I don't know what these guys do, but from what I read up there, these guys are criminalizing laptops — same tool that Mark Zuckerberg used to create Facebook.

I work from home; I work with laptop; I'm not an internet fraudster.

God's willing, before the next two years I will come up with something that will revolutionalize our healthcare system.

For goodness sake, EFCC should do their job and stop criminalizing laptops. Laptops are tools that can be used to do good.

Mr man stop lying to yourself! There was absolutely nothing good about our African traditional religion. Who did Amadioha help? Do you want to talk about all the human sacrifices that the "gods of the land" were always demanding from time to time? Or the killing of twins until Mary Slessor fought against it?

We may have a few good things in our culture such as respect for elders, etc, but certainly nothing good when it comes to traditional religion.
Africans hating everything African. All religion is the same — acknowledgement of a supreme being. The manner of showing that acknowledgement differs among people, race and culture. Each people acknowledge that deity in the way the understand — their understanding and practices may not make sense in this time and age, but the intention is the same.

If you study all religions, you will see that each and every one of them is pointing to the same supreme being, even though the supreme being is addressed with different names — God, Jehovah, Yahweh, Allah, Chukwu, Olodumare, etc.

The same goes for serving beings — the angels. What Christians call Archangel Michael (the warrior), Yoruba call Sango (god of thunder), and Igbos call Amadioha (god of thunder).

It amazes me when people fight over religion. They're all the same — just coming from different perspectives.

You completely nailed it bro!
How could I have missed the fact that a birthday party is similar to an all boys boarding school!
Poor me.
How could I not even know that boys (57 of them!) who attended an all boys school should keep their girlfriends away when one of them is having a birthday party.
I twale for you!!
If you don't know something, ask those who do. I have attended many secondary school reunions where there's no lady present. We gist, crack jokes, laugh, eat and drink, and then, dismiss. Bringing a gf to such gatherings seems very odd. (she will even feel odd since most of the gist and yabs are based on old times and stuff).

It's amazing how some of you see things.

In this digital age, some companies can make some of their departments work from home. The staff can set up at home and work from there. There's no need going to the office to do what can be done from home. Only staff in critical areas who need to be at the office should go to the office. This will reduce traffic.

How do you explain a birthday party with 57 guys and no babe?
Even Falana knows they are guilty as charged. The only evidence to prove that they are gay as charged is to show a video of them 4king each other's assholess and that is the most difficult evidence to get.
At last, they're going to set them free.
Like seriously? Some secondary schools are all boys. So if the boys gather for a reunion or birthday of one of them, it becomes a crime that there's no babe. If no babe is a criteria for crime, start by raiding all the same gender schools in the country.

The mentality of many Nigerians is incomprehensible.

My dear, you live in a 21st century, not 19th. Take time to bring yourself up to the digital age — for your own good. There are so many possibilities and opportunities, some of which you can combine with your work.

There's no need labelling anyone you don't know fraudster.
SportsRe: “Any Youth With A Benz Is A Yahoo Boy"— Policeman Tells Footballer During Arrest by studentofTruth: 12:41pm On Aug 27, 2019
Even the citizens still think that way. To most Nigerians, if you own a laptop and work from home, you're an internet fraudster, while the civilized world is appreciating the impact and growth of the gig economy and how it can reduce traffic congestions and all the rest. In the civilized world, companies are running many departments on work-from-home basis.

Analogue thinking in a digital age is a major problem in this country.

As an Accountant i don't advice savings unless you have no business idea. Honestly ask yourself why bank pays you interest on your savings our fixed deposit. Even the said interest is meagre. I bet if the lady invested the said amount wisely, she'd have been happier. Its just like the biblical servant that hid his master's money in the ground and got exact amount back. There's no growth there. When you invest or do business with your money you either win or lose, either way, you grow.
