What does your doctor say about another surgery?

Have you been actively trying to conceive since after the surgery? Did you do HSG and hormonal profile? Have you ruled out male factor?

Yes,surgery was done in 2017 but now the growth is there again...pregnancy yet to set in since then .....need to get read of it again...or what's your advice here Pls?

Was the myo an open surgery?
Are you sure its the fibroid causing the delay again?
I had myo in 2014, got pregnant in 2015 and found out the fibroids were back in 2020 but I was already pregnant again and it didn't affect conception the second time.
I'd suggest you clear all other possible delay causes and if the fibroid isn't causing issues this Time you might want to delay doing another myo.
Did you do HSG after the myo to confirm tubal patency?

Sex during pregnancy is always the best for me. No worries of getting pregnant or menstruation palavar just to dey flex oneself as much as my strength can carry me. It helps me to relax afterwards and have good sleep.

At 8-11 weeks some mamas were seriously dealing with morning sickness, sex wasn't even on the table. In the first trimester the hormonal changes (wetness etc) and MS disrupts the sex lives of most couples tbh...but since you were in the mood for sex, using lubricants (KY jelly etc) should have sorted out the wetness issue.

It's perfectly safe to have sex during pregnancy unless your doctor or midwife has told you not to.

Having sex will not hurt your baby. Your partner's penis can't penetrate beyond your vagina, and the baby cannot tell what's going on.

However, it's normal for your sex drive to change during pregnancy. This isn't something to worry about, but it's helpful to talk about it with your partner.

Some couples find having sex very enjoyable during pregnancy, while others simply feel they don't want to. You can find other ways of being loving or making love. The most important thing is to talk about your feelings with each other.



If your pregnancy is normal and you have no complications, having sex and orgasms won't increase your risk of going into labour early or cause a miscarriage.

Later in pregnancy, an orgasm or even sex itself can set off mild contractions. If this happens, you'll feel the muscles of your womb go hard. These are known as Braxton Hicks contractions and can be uncomfortable, but they're perfectly normal and there's no need for alarm. You might want to try some relaxation techniques or just lie down until the contractions pass.

When to avoid sex in pregnancy
Your midwife or doctor will probably advise you to avoid sex if you've had any heavy bleeding in this pregnancy. Sex may increase the risk of further bleeding if the placenta is low or there's a collection of blood (haematoma).

You'll also be advised to avoid sex if:

->your waters have broken – it can increase the risk of infection (ask your midwife or doctor if you're not sure whether your waters have broken)
->there are any problems with the entrance to your womb (cervix) – you may be at a higher risk of going into early labour or having a miscarriage
->you're having twins, or have previously had early labours, and are in the later stages of pregnancy

If you or your partner are having sex with other people during your pregnancy, it's important you use a barrier form of contraception, such as a condom, to protect you and your baby from sexually transmitted infections (STIs). ***side eyes***

Good and bad sex positions during pregnancy

While sex is safe for most couples in pregnancy, it may not be all that easy. You will probably need to find different positions. This can be a time to explore and experiment together.

Sex with your partner on top can become uncomfortable quite early in pregnancy, not just because of the bump, but because your breasts might be tender. It can also be uncomfortable if your partner penetrates you too deeply.

It may be better to lie on your sides, either facing each other or with your partner behind.


Spooning is my goto position but my libido has been up and down like a wave....but my DH doesn't bother.

I've read about husbands getting angry that their wife's are scared they'd hurt the baby or aren't in the mood for sex so much so they now resort to getting pleasure outside and putting their wife and unborn baby at risk.

So let's share our thoughts and suggestions...for those with low libido and doctor instructed pelvic rest, how are your DH's handling the situation and what alternative measures are we resorting to?
I'd also want to hear from our Daddy's in the house.

I didn't clean my incision site with spirt too maybe it is the standard practice in the United sates or training and exposure of the dr involved.
My incision healed perfectly within a month and i resumed the other room duties from 6 weeks

Yes, its standard for the US not to use alcohol on the incision site.
But even amongst those done in Nigeria, some are told to use alcohol and some are not

My doctor asked me. Never knew it can heal without methylated spirit.

Mine healed without spirit.

...Although I think the type of suturing also determines the care required...id ask my Dr at my next appointment

Yeah especially since spirit is quite harsh. I'm thinking maybe it just depends on who does the surgery. I know someone who did myomectomy, incision was the size of a credit card. The same surgery some doctors will design a woman's stomach lol. Just the same way we're all stitched after episiotomy but outcome depends on who does the stitching.

Also for myomectomy you can rest afterwards, most women are not really able to rest after CS and see carrying baby etc.

However if I was in such shoes and my doctor said I should use spirit, I would because na infection bad pass show healing, loose suturing etc.

I think the cut given for myo depends on the extent of the surgery/fibroid removal.
In my case, because the myomas were plenty and scattered they had to bring out the uterus and pick out all of them...and maybe expertise too. My myo cut was longer than CS cut and CS suturing was fantastic, thats solely on technology though

Did you have your surgeries in Nigeria or abroad?

Because abroad, when you have a minor injury at home, spirit is not used. It's even difficult to get spirit to buy. But in Nigeria, it's very important to prevent possibility of infection. Hence our steady recourse to spirit.

Also we have very high humidity so 'keep dry' is not very easy in Nigeria.

I had my myomectomy in Nigeria and CS abroad. But both times the instruction was to keep the area dry and the recovery was fast.
I was just wondering if the application of spirit had anything to do with the delayed healing and sometimes I read of sutures coming open...

My beautiful princess arrived yesterday 5th Sept at 33 weeks weighing 1.8kg through emergency CS because of PIH and preeclampsia. Baby is undergoing observation at the NICU. mother is recovering well. Daddy is doing great too.

I'm not sure where this cleaning incision site with spirit comes from. Is this based on instruction from the doctor?
Both my surgeries (Myomectomy and CS) I was only asked to keep the incision area dry and healing was fast (even faster for my CS but the suturing method was different)

Mamas in the house who have done CS before. Please can you share your experience. I mean, how long does it take the sutures to heal? Then I heard you can’t breast feed your baby until you are completely healed up and also that the tummy protrudes and never returns to shape. Please are these true? Thank you

My suture healing is different.....
I started breastfeeding immediately....only thing that delayed my stomach retracting was that my kid wasn't latching properly. Breastfeeding helps the uterus retract.....notwithstanding, with proper diet and exercise my stomach became slate flat after CS.

I drank mine as asked by the nurses. I was also given Potassium chloride. My bp was 200/110 last night, later on 176/108. So they said I will be given labethanol if it gets to 110.

Your baby has been given drugs to mature its lungs already, your baby will be fine even if they bring it out today. But they can't when your bp is dangerously high.
A mama here had her baby at 30weeks and they're both fine, your baby is fine and it needs you alive.

I don't invite people, it follows a pattern. It's a monthly stuff. It's a get together. The last time it was held in my house was over a year ago. We're mostly over 20 members. 20 people spread over monthly will be 20 months, that's a year and 8 months. That's enough time.

There's still enough time to learn how to cook soup my dear brother. Watch sisiyemmie 's videos on YouTube, just type any soup you want to delight your brothers in the Lord with and the recipe will pop up. In this age you can't be allowing a woman do shakara for you with just cooking soup when you have 2 hands o.

Seeing cervical mucus and having a regular cycle doesn't really mean you ovulate. You have to confirm you ovulate by either scans or ovulation test strips.

If you have the cysts as Informed by your doctor, taking drugs to stimulate ovulation will only cause you more problems. If you aren't comfortable with the communication from your doctor i suggest you change him and unless your friend is a gyne/fertility doctor please disregard her suggestions.
