It was o my dear. And it was a transvaginal scan so I expected id see the heartbeat by then. My only consolation was I still had morning sickness so I believed all was well.

Didn't they tell you how to boost it? If they didn't, do contact your doctor and ask so you can start boosting it ASAP.

If she's not experiencing pain or bleeding please don't go yet.
Just do a blood test to confirm the pregnancy and wait till at least 9weeks for scan. By then the GS, FP and HB will be visible.
I woke up in pain one morning at almost 6 weeks and went for a scan. Co existing fibroid were cause of the pian but that early only a Gestational sac was seen, no fetal pole no Heartbeat and I was asked to redo the scan in 3 weeks...those were the longest 3 weeks of my life I dont wish it for anybody else.

The doctor keep saying that the taperule measurement does not really with my scan dates.. Any advice as I really desire VD instead of CS but people say it could be that the baby is big and there is nothing I can do about it...

Your immediate concern should be the swollen feet....its usually not a good sign. Have you seen your doctor recently?

Prenatal vitamins are supposed to be taken at least 3 months before pregnancy until you are done breastfeeding.

P. s: Same way Gestational Trophoblastic Disorders would give you a positive pregnancy test... Same way an ectopic pregnancy would give you a positive pregnancy test. All these, until an abdominopelvic ultrasound is done to rule in or out.

You mentioned you were a doctor in your previous post thats why I'm asking you if there's any medical condition that'll give a positive blood test.
An ectopic pregnancy IS a pregnancy and would give a positive blood test but the pregnancy isn't intrauterine.
Your first response about why a scan is done mentioned things that are considered 'modalities ' like fertilady mentioned.
Scan confirms viability, intrauterine cyesis, co existing fibroid, single or multiple Gestation, EDD (only when LMP is unknown)
You might be a doctor as claimed, but I beg to differ on your argument.


I'm not a medical practitioner, but when I was pregnant with my first and went to the hospital the doctor carried out a blood test and said congratulations you are pregnant...not 'hey you may or may not be pregnant until I do a scan'.

No ma'am. Blood pregnancy test is NOT confirmatory for pregnancy. The ONLY confirmatory test for pregnancy is an abdominopelvic ultrasound. Blood test is just one of a series of test for pregnancy but NOT confirmatory.

My wife just tested positive to blood test and someone is saying dat a blood test is not sufficient to prove pregnancy. Except scan. How tru pls house?

My wife just ran a test that shows she's pregnant. The problem is she did a scan recently and it's confirmed she has staphylococcus, yeast and fungus infection. She was about commencing treatment when she discovered that she's pregnant. Please what could be done and what drug can she take to treat the infection that won't affect the pregnancy as it is still in it's early stage.

Dont self medicate in pregnancy, she has to go see a doctor and tell them she's pregnant as that will affect the drugs she'd be given

I also have big navel that becomes so pronounced during early pregnancy. I always wear tank top inside my clothes to hide it lol. Some weeks ago I even had to use big cellotape because I wanted to wear one particular cloth and the belle button was just all over the place
It's better now that bump has come out small.

No plan for elective CS o, na just pray we dey pray. I hope to go into labor and born naturally at 37 weeks and some days. Baby is fully baked at 37 so #notime for additional waddling

My tummy's same. When I have time I try to cover the navel, other times I dont care
I hear if you normally go into labour early then the probability for the subsequent ones to come early is high.

cos the hospital I use doesn't attend to people freely as before cos of corona

Normally registration for antenatal is from 12 weeks especially if you're under HMO..but if you're private and especially if you ttc'd for a while you're advised to register earlier than 12 weeks for monitoring.


Are other hospitals/general hospitals still doing antenatal classes? My hospital isn't because of covid...everyone gets an appointment time, you come see doctor and ask questions and off you go! And I'm wondering how FTMs are coping with it

Two days ago, i was feeling a sharp pain at the right hand side of my stomach, at first i thought it was round ligament pain but it became very serious. So i decided to go for a scan the next day. We did the scan and saw a fibroid about 5cm big in that location.

Sorry about the pain and welcome to the fibroid club.
Just take painkillers (paracetamol or extra strength tylenol depending on the severity of the pain) and you'd be fine. But if the pain gets too much youd need to go to the hospital.
