I think this is true. I submitted with mbs, IELTS result and upfront medical. My eligibility review started 2weeks after (3days after my biometrics), I guess because I did biometrics late maybe it would have even started earlier.

Application submitted May 14th, I am waiting for PPR already grin grin

Lianna2020:
Good evening everyone ,

I’d like to add, if you want to submit your application, submit together with nse requirements if you have them instead of waiting for them to ask.

I personally submitted everything for nse and in my loe told them , I’m eligible for nse and that I have submitted everything as with upfront medical.
This is just to reduce the waiting time.
Those guys are now picking up applications and if your file is complete, it makes things easier for them too and fast as your end .

Chai, I understand your plight. However my advice is for you to apply to other schools and supervisors. If you want funding then don't go for course based, I doubt they give much funding for course based masters. Keep mailing different professors. Keep your mind for 2022 fall. I wish you all the best.

1Girllykdat:
Hello everyone. Please I'm in a fix & I need your advice cry.

Prior to my application for a research-based msc programme in Canada, I reached out to a prof who confirmed she'd be taking in 2 graduate students and also confirmed that our research interests aligned but wouldn't take anybody yet till the academic committee and potential supervisors reviewed all applications.

4 months after applying (may 2021), I heard nothing from the school. So, I mailed the graduate co-ordinator inquiring about the outcome of my application and the professor replied instead.

The prof told me she was finalizing her research group for fall and asked if I'd be able to talk over zoom. We had the meeting and we talked about my research proposal and said she'd be taking me in and giving me the emails of her other students and would speak to the graduate co-ordinator about funding as I am an international student.

With her word, I assumed I was in only for me to again mail the graduate co-ordinator in June (as time for visa application was going) and then be told the prof isn't taking in students again.

I was shocked and asked if there was a mix-up. I mailed the supervisor and she said she was sorry and that I misunderstood her. That she was torn as I am an excellent fit for her lab but that she is already taking in 2 phd students and now at her maximum capacity.

I mailed the graduate co-ordinator and asked if it was possible to switch to course work instead. She said that though my application had already been denied (cos of the prof), I would be considered.

But now the thing is next week is July and I don't even know when I would hear from the school. Plus neither I nor my close relatives have my school fees. I thought I would get in through research which is why I applied for only research programmes.

I met the minimum requirement of 75% btw . Had 82% in undergrad.

Does anybody have an idea how I can "appeal" to the professor or go about the situation?

They didn't even put biometrics. They only said if you submit a 'complete application'. It was later they included biometrics and medicals. I submitted on May 14th with upfront medical, but Biometrics was done on May 28th. My eligibility review has started though, I pray we all get an answer latest August!

EmeeNaka:
IRCC added the Medicals Requirements after May, 15. Initially, it was Biometrics they put there. And it's because of Indians that were attacking them on Twitter asking them to process their Application without Medicals since they were on lockdown that time.

I suggest you upload the marriage certificate with a brief explanation that you just got married. If your background check start and they noticed that you are now married it may cause complications on your application.

mhozzis:
Good morning,

Please I applied as a bachelor on May 11, just to meet up with the May 15th caveat.

I'm now married, do I need to send the marriage certificate via web form? hope that won't cause a delay in verification and approval?

Regards

Hello, please I will need a sample of the consent letter from hubby you sent. Please can I email you?

Queenmama03:
Omo my story long oo! But i'll just go straight to the point.

First time applicant, self sponsored although I finished with a first class in economics, I have a 10yr study gap so I wasn't sure how that played out. Going for Masters in Economics at UNB. I'm employed and also have a side business I registered last year. Previous travel to US and Turkey. I wrote GRE, applied and got admission myself but when it came to visa application my liver failed me. That was where Frank (God bless his soul) came to my rescue. Timeline:

Applied 22nd Apr
Vfs biometric 26th Apr
Eligibility & background check started 4th May (may have been earlier but after applying I didn't check the portal until this date)
Upfront Medical done 4th May
Medical E-Slip uploaded 6th May
Biometrics Updated 6th May (I had to email them a reminder)
Medical Passed 7th May
Ghost update 4th June
Sent renewed passport & unconditional acceptance letter via webform 8th June
Agreement prayer with husband when I noticed April applicants getting their decisions 16th June
Ghost update 16th June
BVL & PPR 21st June

Regarding ghost updates, I may have had more but I only check my portal once or max twice a week on average so I can't really say. Also I didn't pay school fees o, not even deposit. The Ijebu in me didn't let me part with my money before visa approval grin also my school didn't make it compulsory.

Document submitted
Transcripts
SOP
GRE
IELTS
MBS & regular account statement (First bank doesn't have MBS so I just submitted the regular statement and included introduction letter from the bank)
WAEC Certificate
Degree certificate
Employment letter
Introduction letter from employer
Study leave approval letter
Consent letter from my husband
We both indicated that my mum will be taking care of my kids in my absence
Husband's employment letter and work related documents
ID's of my parents and siblings

Hmm the waiting wasn't funny o especially when I see the type of document people submit here, at some point I felt I may not have submitted enough. I just told myself "las las if dem deny my application i'll just focus on my business''. But alas! God did it. Also special thanks to @Lekiboboe his posts really guided me when I was searching for graduate programs.

To all those still waiting, I wish you the very best, God willing it will end the praise.

signing out.

PS: If you dey go New Brunswick please hit me up make we reason one or two.

I submitted May 14th. I submitted MBS, upfront medical and IELTS result, biometric done on May 28th. Eligibility started June 1 or so. Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best

Soulz22:
I applied 15th of May and Biometric done 26th May. I’m just nervous if I can meet up fall session or it’s too late.

Anyone in same situation with me or have encouraging answers?

If you applied in May, have you gotten any response yet?

I will advise you get the gift deed sharperly of at least 1.5mil. And upload to them via webform or email or both. Do not hesitate before they make a decision on your case. Please act fast.

PS: I am not a guru but this is what I have learned from this platform

ikemummy:
LONG POST BUT PLEASE READ TILL THE END
Greetings everyone, please I need your advice. My Ph.D. admission in Canada came with graduate funding. The graduate funding is $28,816 CDN for the first year, this covers the cost of my annual fee for the program ($14,607 Tuition Fees, + $1,077 Mandatory Fees + $1,118 Medical & Dental Fees) with an excess of $12,014 to contribute towards my living expenses. I applied for a study permit on 30 April and received NSE on 7 May to submit mybankstatement and IELTS. I replied to the NSE request with a letter of explanation that my studies will be funded by the University and reattached my admission letter.

Today, my friend from Zimbabwe who was also admitted to the same program received a visa rejection based on the reason “insufficient funds, including income or assets to carry out your stated purpose in coming to Canada or to maintain yourself while in Canada and to effect your departure”

She used the Statement of Account of her Uncle as proof of fund to cover travel expenses and miscellaneous.
My question is, since I am yet to get a decision, should I get a gift deed from a family member and then send a mybankstatement via webform stating that the gift deed is to cover my travel expenses? If yes, what should be the minimum value of the gift deed? NB: I did not submit my Statement of Account because the balance was not much (less than 500k); I also did not say anything about my travel expenses in my Letter of explanation, I only focused on expenses while in Canada.
Thanks in anticipation of your advice

MY PROFILE:
1. Age: 27 yrs
2. B.Sc: First Class (Nigeria, 2015)

5. Scholarship: Former recipient of the German government fully funded DAAD scholarship for masters.
6. Career: Have been working as an academic staff in the University since NYSC

POF DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED:
1. Admission letter stating graduate funding of $28,816 CDN for the first year, and that funding could be maintained with good academic performance.

This right here is very true in it's truest sense. Do they have anything like Association of international students in Canada not only in individual schools? An association like that can help. I can't see why a school will offer someone admission and them IRCC will now tell the person the.course is not good for him or her. Very ridiculous, does it mean the school cannot independently admit someone without IRCC having a say?

I wish something would be done about this. It's so sad!

Uzomachukwu:
This is one area where I totally resent the Canadian DLI-IRCC relationship. Canadian schools are doing absolutely nothing to assist their international students in the matter of obtaining visa. We're not even asking that the schools should oversee the visa application of their international students as is done in many countries; no, that will be expecting too much of them.

But they should at least have some measure of reasonable influence over the visa decision made by IRCC. We know that once a newly admitted students headed for the US obtains a form I-20 from their institution (which means the financial aspect of their studies is settled), applies for visa and gets an interview date from ICE, s/he is as good as assured of getting a visa approval. But these Canadian people just be wasting someone's time in the name of visa processing. And then there's the issue of their immeasurably complex application system that seems to be geared towards mere luck than merit.

Canadian schools just be acting like a docile medieval wife unable to protest against the many harsh treatments meted out on her by her physically abusive and selfish husband.

If you can order for your GCMS notes it may give you an idea of what is going on. I am not a guru, this is only a suggestion.

Jblogs38:
Good day guys and gurus in the house. I am a first time poster. I have really learnt alot from this platform and want to say a big thank you to all the contributors.

To my issue, please consider my application and timeline and offer your take on my chances.

I applied for PGD in Human Resource Management at Niagara College.

Applied on March 19, Biometrics completed March 22. Upfront medical updated to pass on April 12. Eligibility review commenced on April 13.

Proof of funds- I paid for the full one year program at 17K CAD and attached the tuition receipt. I Showed about 4.4 M naira in account which was about 14,333 CAD at the time of application. I am married but will be travelling alone so I can use spouse as home ties. I have no kids at the moment. I provided all NSE documents upfront.

I also attached a property document gifted to me from my mother and some share certificates.

I wanted to know from the gurus in the house what they think about my proof of funds. Is it enough to get a study permit. I am self sponsored and I only tendered my own account. I have not gotten a decision yet but wanted to get an idea from this platform whether my funds are enough from the vast experience of the gurus in this platform. Thank you.

I hope you understand the qualifier you used here 'most' . Meanwhile I would say it's mostly February and March that are getting response now. If you are April applicant you are among the very few that I have seen on this thread unless the 'Most' April Applicants that got response didn't post here.

I first sent through webform and later through email.

I don't think you should be worried considering that our application is still somehow new. After I sent webform it took some days before they replied that they got it. But the email I sent....no response just the generic reply.

I've been sending emails and webform to both Lagos and Nairobi but no response whatsoever. No acknowledgment. I first sent my IELTS result and then sent my tuition receipt. Should I be worried?

Biko I am not a guru but I will answer you to the best of my knowledge based on what I have read here.

They always advice that the primary applicant apply first and once it is approved, the rest of the family can then apply.

But to answer you,

1) I guess he can do his biometrics in China while you do here.

2) lump sum is always always frowned at especially if it is not consistent. Or send the lump sum and really really explain it in the shop. How about she send it in bits?

3) Medical is for everyone not only the primary applicant. So in this case if y'all decide to apply together and submit upfront medical, it won't be bad to do it together.

DrAFOguns:
Good evening house.

My husband got admission and full funding for a PhD. We are putting our application documents together (family application) and need your input.

1. Considering that he is in China while I am in Nigeria, would I be able to do biometrics in Nigeria?

2. Is it okay for his sister to send a lump sum into his account to add to the POF? (Explaining the lump sum in the LOE together with her bank statement showing the transfer)

3. We want to submit upfront medicals. Is he the only one to do medicals or both of us?

Thanks in anticipation of your kind replies

Biometric done 28th May, It was updated that same day.
Yes my file is in Nairobi office. When I sent my official tuition receipt, that was when they told me that my file is in Nairobi.

When did you do biometrics? And do you know the Visa office handling your file?

I got a refusal though, for home ties both in Canada and Nigeria. Apparently, my ties in Canada are way more than those in Nigeria. I will order GCMS note. I may reapply or opt for the US. But US is priority right now.

I wish you all a delightful outcome in your applications. We learn every day, and some experiences are worthwhile, even though they are a bit sad. But we move!
