Hello, thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread. It's no small job that is being done here.

I have a situation and I'd like to hear our experienced persons' take on it.

I want to visit the states so as to satisfy the fiance visa meeting requirement. Been more than 2 years since the last meeting between me and my gf of 10 years whom I now intend to marry.

Is the above a satisfactory answer when asked why I intend to visit the states? Do I need to bring proof of relationship to support my answer? I do have tons of those.

Also, I intend to run my masters degree in a university close to her home after we get married and I'm legally residing in the states. But just in case I apply for a visit visa and don't get it, will that affect my chances with f1?

What would you advice?

Just focus on the student visa
F1 - you can always get married whilst you are there as a student then adjust status in the US

Applying for a US visa just to see you fiance ..nah you would have immigrant intent so its very 50 50, unless you have had US visa before.
Besides to fulfill the requirements of K1 you can meet in any country so that isn't necessarily a reason for travel to the US

Backlog is due to corona and the bans from Trump's administration

Just to clarify the number of half a million is worldwide not specific to Nigeria.
There is a backlog across all embassies, delays with embassies differ

Many people who DQd last year submitted 2018, by the time of the interview scheduling they were asked to submit the recent one that's all

If the trip is not urgent, just keep checking till a date closer to your preferred date coms up

At least they are prioritising immigrant interviews over non-immigrant interviews
But even with that I doubt the schedule more than 30-40 a day more due to corona than anything else

As it is I think nonIV interviews are attended to for just one day a week

Those days of 100 plus people day are long gone, even the touts are complaining

And I am not sure if she can apply for that from the UK since it means a relocation and technically abandoning her studies if she wants to leave during her student year

Not every category of family petition for immigrant visas can adjust status in the US if you enter on a B1/B2 which is the last visa category the OP had

I spent 4 weeks on each. 2016 and 2017.

F1 was denied based on 214b. I strongly believe it’s on the basis of “dual intent” because I applied for F1 just after I renewed B1 for a Christmas holiday in USA.

Asides my company, I am also employed as systems integration and design manager in a leading telecom firm here in Nigeria. And also have a daughter I live with. Been to the USA twice and never overstayed my visa or even get tempted to.

Did you indicate your mum's status in the US in all your applications, where it mentions relatives or family?

Two F1 refusals is a lot, you can go for it though but be ready to show your ties to Nigeria through your work here. An immigrant petition is not a barrier, if your mum petitioned you are a son and as such you cant switch when you are in the US so you would still need to come back to Nigeria for the processing.
Switching is only 'forgiveable' if the person petitioning is a spouse

F1 is a student visa. Why would she apply for a student visa to the US when she is on a student visa in the UK?

If she wants to apply for a visit visa to the US whilst she is a student in the UK she can go ahead, many have done the same and it was granted. Her continued studies are her tie to the UK. She will likely need an introduction letter from the university confirming she is a student.

The mom will alert USCIS of her naturalization. The married daughter goes into F3. The mom doesn't have to refile. Resubmission means new app, new fees and new pd. Not true!

If she is LPR when she files for her son when she becomes USC she informs USCIS then her son has to remain single during that process, It is if the son or daughter gets married after she becomes USC that they simply upgrade his category to F3
Lots of people choose to remain single because they don't want to elongate this process whilst others are fine with a longer wait time and go ahead with their plans.

If you want to declare that you're single please note that when your case becomes current you can only file for your children not your 'spouse' and it will take awhile to then 'marry' her again then file for her as spouse. Keeping up that lie would be a challenge

F3 is for married sons or daughters of USC
there is no category for married sons or daughters of LPR
If his mother does not become a USC then she can not file for a married son or daughter
LPR can [b]only [/b]file for unmarried sons or daughters, spouses and minor children

You only need a PCR Covid test at a designated testing centre and there are many to choose from( there is NO testing place at the airport and rapid tests are not valid for travel). Get your sample taken and get the PCR Covid test done either at LAGOS state facilities or the official ones on ncdc list e.g afriglobal, synlab, clinic, veracare, 54gene .

Anyone telling you about some test at the airport is scamming you by selling fake results. Actual COVID tests done are easily verifiable and plenty fake results have been traced to nigeria.

F2A is for spouses and minor children i.e younger than 21?

Are you sure it wasnt F2B which is for unmarried adult children of LPR

And if it was F2B then your petition is no longer valid because there is no category for 'married adult children' of LPR (green card holders)
Your mum would have to resubmit her petition when she becomes a US citizen then she'll file for you as F3 (married son or daughter of a US citizen)

Alot of people has commented on my post. Both those who criticise then proffer solution and I've chosen to remain silent. But this your insult is what i won't take from you. It means all priority dates before Sep15 2014 are current for your category and area are current.
By now you should have gotten the 'welcome letter' from NVC asking you to start their process. Details of what to do are in the letter.
Your sponsor should have gotten the letter by now or if you had updated them with your email as contact then you would have gotten the letter via email.

Only PCR test is valid for travel and they take 48-72hours turnover time.
Private labs like Synlab and CliniX do it. Google their locations.

If it's the rapid test then it's results are not reliable but can be gotten in a few hours, these are only useful if you are sure you're exposed and want to start treatment and isolation. You would still need PCR test to confirm.
