Is it that 'he' should not Advertise (publicize) the marriage through the Billboard medium (cos I think I saw the advert on NTA yesterday)? Or i it that 'he' ought not to have Advertised the event AT ALL??

Paul John: While I commend the FG on this, I think it'll be better to spend more on accident preventive infrastructures. Accident Investigation laboratory is less important if accident occurrence is at it limit.
$5.5million will go a long way in construction of standard federal roads that are the major cause of accident to the common Nigerians.
I guess the accident investigation laboratory been inaugurated is meant for top government officials due to accident some governors have been involved in of recent and not for ordinary Nigerians.

Plus, inauguration of this won't bring back dead but'll only reveal details of the cause and a little idea of how future occurrence can be averted and not taking care of the primary cause I.e. bad roads, ineffective communication system, sub standard airport etc.

@Omo-Tier, you need to Read this :

http://www.nigeriaelectricityprivatisation.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2011/03/Roadmap-for-Power-Sector-Reform-Full-Version

You really need to get yourself acquitted with the kind of METICULOUS work that has gone into reforming the Nigeria power sector in the last 2 years or so. This 'converted' me into believing and supporting the GEJ admin at the time I read it in July/Aug.

By the way, in that other thread yesterday, you say (actually ASSERTED) that GEJ had not built a single Power plant, has not built a single Transmission and Distribution Line, ha not built any gas plants and has not given approval and support to State government to distribute their own electricity themselves. I DIDNT RESPOND TO YOU cos I honestly didnt know where to start from....
Oh dear, see what Nigeria have been reduced to! Some seeing light for 16hrs a day are singing things are getting better huh I remember visiting a friend in New Castle few weeks ago, in the morning the light went off during to a house fire. There was no electricity for four hours.

Before we knew it,council went around ALL the streets that was affected by the power cut, dropping leaflets through the doors, notifying residents when power will be restored! True to their words, by 3pm same day, they restored power. What shocked me the most was that council went around the homes of the elderly and children to supply them food, and they asked any nursing mother that needs food supply to contact them with a dedicated number line provided!

Sadly enough, when I spoke to my mother in Nigeria on boxing day, she told me they are running on the heavy duty generator in the house! It is clear from the majority of replies so far the OP's assertions are utter falsehood! They maybe generating 4,000MW, but not until the distribution network is sorted out and that includes every sub stations, and those step up or step down transformers in neighborhood, most Nigerians will continue to live in darkness. That is where the main effort should be concentrated but there is nothing currently being done in that regard which clearly suggest the so called power reforms are a ruse! I hope I am proved wrong huh
Its always astonishing (and annoying n a funny way) when I see peeps making ASSERTIONS in public with every sense of authority when they are so WRONG! It astonishes me EVERY TIME.

Not less than 17 NIPP Transmission and Distribution lines and substations have been completed in LAGOS alone THIS YEAR as at November out of 57 such ongoing projects, and this is not even counting the normal PHCN projects. Similar things are taken place throughout the nation as NIPP is constructing HUNDREDS of Transmission and Distribution lines and substations (some already completed) in virtually every part of the nation- hell even the Military was ordered by the President to install some substation step- up transformers in certain part of the nation recently. All or most of these projects (including the PHCN ones) not finished are expected to be completed in 2013.

Just as I asked you on a different thread: how was it that when Yar'adua generated a high of 3800MW some years ago, the Entire System collapsed in just 2 DAYS to below 2000MW and fluctuated in that range for a long time WHILST the same system was able to wheel 4000MW-4300MW from July-late Sept this year before partially 'collapsing' to as low as 3200MW-3500MW from that time till late Nov-present where it is again wheeling 4200MW-4500MW? what changed? Or you think it just happened??

I mean to argue that even if all these projects are completed, there would still be serious need for continuous investments and upgrades in the Transmission (especially) and Distribution Infrastructure cos the resulting system would still not be able to continuously wheeled more than 6000-7000MW successfully, is a different argument; but to say nothing has been done Or worst still, that nothing is been done is...... *smh*

ayox2003: Even Republicans rarely applaud Democrats for their good programmes. What's the definition of an opposition party? Are they meant to applaud the government or put it on its toes? Shior.

And what about the money-looting, lavish spending and massive corruption that has been going on by the minute but you GEJ goons wont be frank about it because your sense of morality has been bedevilled by sentiments, bigotry and "na-my-person" syndrome.

NB: I'm neither ACN, CPC, PDP and all these claptraps mongers you pple sell your souls to.

Frawzey.
1st off, fvnkk PDP a million times. PDP, ACN, CPC, ANPP etc = THE SAME. But dis talk about 'Massive' looting na im i no rili undastad. Is it 4rm dat ridiculous Punch's #5trn article where half of d supposd 'looted' money came from pipeline vandalism and crude theft!! You are presently commenting on an article essentiali saying smthing we HAVEN'T heard for more than a decade: farmers acknowledging receipt of Agric inputs from d FG! You think dat just happend just like dat? I recall d President saying last yr dat he was going to stop d MASSIVE and ENTRENCHED fertilizer and seed Racketeering dat has bn going on in d Min of Agric by so-calld POLITICAL FARMERS for decades and was d main reason why only about 13% of Real farmers get these inputs on average annually, and dismissing him immediately cos i didnt just see hw dat was possible. This has happend in just Months. The former EXTREMELY CORRUPT system has bn completely dismantled and anoda partially private system (EGSS) where farmers now get these inputs DIRECTLY tru dier e-wallets has replacd it. The access rate has gone from 13% to 65% in just 7 months of dis new system, and if dis Jigawa dry season case is anything to go by, d initial challenges shld reduce and d rate increasd going forward. Massive looting? If there is 'massive' looting going on hw come MOST projects that previous govts didnt do even if they were funding it are now bn done (from rails to Power, to schools, to inland ports, to key roads, to airports, to dams etc and equipments for agencies like FRSC, NEMA, Customs, Police etc); plus, i wonda hw 'massive' looting wud be going on in an increasingly OPEN environment...... Look Corruptn is still here truout d nation and in govts (significantly so in d FG), and I HATE CORRUPTN of any kind so wud be d 1st person to insist dat MUCH MORE needs to be done to continue d fight, but d idea of 'massive' looting? Nope. That is only in d mind of those ppl pushing it for dier own gain; and i gat to say, they are pretty IMAGINATIVE!! Imagine d #5trn article....

Politics › Farmers Hail FG Distribution Of Fertilizers And Seeds To Them by taharqa(op): 2:39am On Dec 28, 2012
The Jigawa Chapter of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) has praised the Federal Government for distributing fertiliser and other inputs to irrigation farmers in the state.

The chairman of the association, Alhaji Adamu Maigoro, said in Auyo, Jigawa that the gesture would assist farmers and encourage agricultural activity.

The Federal Government had distributed 7,200 tonnes of fertiliser at 50 per cent subsidised rate to rice farmers in the state. The Federal Government also distributed 2,400 tonnes of improved rice seeds free to the farmers this season under its agricultural palliative programme to accelerate rice production in the country.

Maigoro said the measure would enhance farmers access to fertiliser, and seeds and encourage them to produce more.

He said: “We praise the Federal Government over the support and we will put more effort to double paddy rice production.

“More than 48,000 hectares of rice plantation was earmarked for cultivation in the state.

“Some of our members have also set up rice mills in Hadejia to enhance rice production in the state.”

The chairman further commended the Jigawa Government for providing 2,000 tube wells and hand pumps for irrigation farmers in the state.

“The state government is also clearing typher grass on the Hadejia River Basin. This exercise will encourage irrigation activity and provide means of livelihood for peasant farmers,” he said.

I reside in Enugu and the SURE-P buses ply Enugu city roads DAILY and all have the un-mistakable inscription- federal govt mass assisted transit. If the ACN states confiscated their share of the SURE-P buses for political or whatever reason, that's their business.
All these silly propaganda begins and ends on NL.
The real people on ground, I mean the people that matter, are currently enjoying more stable power supply. Those that pass thru the airports are full of commendations for the govt. The students and workers in the 9 new feederal universities, together with their families are full of praise for the govt. The Lagosians who hav been using the intra-city train services daily in the last 2yrs, know what that mean to them. Those who commute by train from Lagos-Abeokuta-Osun-Ilorin to and fro in the last 1 to 2yrs, know where their bread is buttered. Those who travel thru the recently renovated Lagos-Kano rail line, cannot give up that experience for ANYTHING. The YOUWIN first edition winners, the beneficiaries of the women and youth empowerment programmes of the govt, the farmers who are getting 2 bags of fertilizer per person at half the market price and FREE improved seeds, etc all know which govt had impacted on their lives DIRECTLY for the first time ever.
In conclusion, the REAL people on ground, those who would matter on election day, know where their bread is buttered.
First let me dissolve you myth by announcing to you that the so called revamp in the power sector is a ruse! Nnaji will confirm that to you!

Secondly, GEJ has not built a single power plant since He came to office. All existing gas power plant in Nigeria today were conceived by Obasanjo. Eleme phase 1&2, Sapele, Ughelli, etc were all Obasanjo's projects.

Thirdly, the major transmission grid GEJ approved budget for was conceived by Obasanjo with the Korean firm.

Fourthly you took your falsehood to high heaven claim per paid meter was introduced by GEJ. ousai! Again Obasanjo introduced per paid meter in His second term in office. Go check the facts for yourself.

Your claim of sustained increase in power during GEJ is outright falsehood. During Yar'dua, Nigeria generated power in excess of 4,000MW which led to the collapse of the national grid and some states were in darkness for 8 days!

Your claim hat Small and Medium companies have increased in Nigeria during GEJ is blatant lie! In fact it is on record that Medium companies especially in the manufacturing sector have deserted Nigeria in the past 4 years and what we are services company that do yahoo yahoo business supplying government establishments!

Lastly, your claim that He is not to blame for the rot in the power sector, though valid is not the less arrant nonsense. Why? GEJ is in charge now and Has all the needed resources to begin to effect a complete overhaul of the sector and all we have seen so far is power distribution companies being sold at piece meal to cronies who have no technical competence to even manage a 500kva generator!

Let's call as pace a spade. Nigeria have gone backwards in the past 3years! GEJ has shown complete and utter incompetence in His discharge as the President of this country.
Oh my God! Let me just make 2 quick points here and leave this thread:

- the domestic wing of the Enugu airport terminal is been remodelled and reconstructed. Just like what we saw with GAT terminal during its reconstruction and what is the general norm with such ongoing projects, there would be a lot of disruptions and discomforts in the normal activities of the airport (I recall many persons calling the tent FAAN provided during GAT reconstruction a Refugee camp for instance). The work is almost complete, so people ought to have some patience.

- On the international airport and terminal, some work have been going on in Phases (even before GEJ) to reasphalt and expand the runway and other things that was required to make Akanu Ibiam an international airport. I honestly dont know the current state of work at present though.
The construction of a new International terminal (one of about 5) is starting in at least a month and is certainly would give a complete and different face-lift to the international terminal.

Some PATIENCE plz...
