You guys should talk Truth small na. The NRC have been revived(some of their derelict offices rebuilt, workshops and way stations refurbished, and new workers engaged). I also know that trains are now running the Lagos-Ibadan/Ilorin line and that the Lagos-Kano rail tract rehabilitation is complete or almost complete(there is a 'troublesome' bridge somewhere in Kwara I think that is reason South-North train service has not yet started- they were supposed to start in the 1st week of August). The Intra-Lagos train service is fully running; and I heard that other intra-state services like Kaduna and Enugu has also started(can any one confirm this plz). The Eastern Line(Portharcourt-Maiduguri tract) is been rehabilitated in 3 phases. Can anyone from those areas info us of the progress on that tract so we can put the NRC and the Contractors on their toes(Pics will be much appreciated). Anyways, for the 1st time in very many years the NRC is back and the total revival of the rail sector seem on course- this year perhaps. PS: I know nothing about the progress on the contracts of the Modern Standard Gauge Railways recently signed |
Bwahahahaha...... |
You guys should stop these naive talks- who told any of you that the sheik is High? He is not. This is exactly how an average Northern ELITE think. They are the BIGGEST problem in Nigeria and if we can defeat them then Nigeria might have some chance in fulfilling her great potentials. Am a student of history with interest in the interplay of Power, Identity and Information, so when I see Power Mongers at play(like some Israeli leaders utter disregard for the identity and lands of the Palestinians Or some elected Republicans vowing from Obama's 1st day in office that their main goal in office was to prevent his re-elections-so they would do any thing including allowing the US to default on its debt if that would hurt Obama and prevent him from being re-elected). I was one of the biggest critics of GEJ, as I was pf most former Nigerian govts, and did not vote for him in 2011 cos of his party BUT not anymore. I know exactly which is the bigger Birds in the game and so the ones to cage first. This was what another Northern Elite purportedly speaking for " The Northern Elders Forum" said at the same Ramadan lecture : http://saharareporters.com/news-page/northern-muslim-elders-reply-asari-dokubo-go-and-read-your-history?page=1 PS: The ordinary northerner is as much a victim of these people, if not more, than the rest of us. |

Demdem: and where in my post did i suggest such? and will enhanced flour coupled with some additives not make bread? Me think u are daft.I will not waste my time arguing wit you, but just to note dat d Cassava FLOUR(ie for all peasteries which includes bread, cake, gala etc) Enhancement Policy(d Wheat/Cassava 60/40% Flour admixture) dat mani of u said early dis yr will nt be implementd, is already on course. The govt early last month hv imposd import duties on importd wheat just as it promisd at d beginning of d yr, sm Cassava Flour Blending equipments 4rm China are already in d country etc etc- all dis will not only provide value 4 our own farmers and job opportunities in d processing nd distributn of d flour as well as reducing d about #600billion dat 9ja spends in importing Wheat esp 4rm d USA(which i think was our largest import bill). Our wheat farmers are also supposd to hv more value cos of dis policy(though am nt sure where dis is currently)...anoda policy dat is working |
Demdem: This govt is not to be trusted. Of cos i wont expect UAC to disprove what govt said even if its isnt so, they will like to be in Govt good books. na cassava bread he retardeen told us not casava Gala.My friend stop showing yr ignorance in public. It is nt bread dat will be enhanced but FLOUR.abi wetin dem take dey do gala? |
GAR3TH: From what I remember reading OBJ was the one who commissioned the project and I also read that NIPP reached 75% completion during Yar'Adua's administration. During the present and past administrations the power plants was and still are under construction. But according to you, we should give GEJ all the credit even though he had nothing to do with the NIPP expect for being the one in office when it will be completed? That like the final runner in a relay race getting all the credit for finishing even though his teammates also ran with with the baton in the race.Guy plz get yr info right. Obj only completed a few of d NIPP projects(and even dose plants dat were completd cud nt deliva power to d grid cos they 'forget' to connect gas facilities to them). When Obj left, Yar'adua did virtuali nothing to complete d projects(infact he stoppd it cos of d Power Probe tin, remember?). GEJ is nw completing d project, upgrading Transmission nd Distributn infrastructure nd supplying real power to people as well as Privatising d sector, nd here u are trying to tk d credit 4rm him yet u guys wud blame him 4 evri wrong time in d coun3(even if most happend b4 he came to power). By d way, if oda presidents hv bn continuing Projects they met as he is doing wud d coun3 be in its present state? |
lets wait and see how empty these promises are. besides, no lite right now due to strike.
But see d kind name u cari Bros; who u to say go bliv u lol |
mkmyers45: I think nigerians should be cautious in over-rejoicing...Lets remain grounded watch and wait...If he indeed does deliver on this then he will win over so many and inadvertently seal a second term.Agreed. But me thinks dat we shld not just 'watch and wait'; we shld instead keep dem on dier toes so dat d timelines are strictly adhered to. We shld nt allow dis opportunity slip away. timilehin007: If propaganda cant defeat them OBJ would defeat them thats all i care. What meaningful thing has he done since he resumed office..? Everything about him is absurd and negative his first name has opposite influence on Nigeria, even spoiltwise, under his tenure we didnt make it to last nations cup, sisia w̶̲̥̅̊α̇̇̇s rated one of did best in Nigeria, proved it under obj and Yaradua, he was a failure under badluck..for the first time we've been participating in an olympic even we couldnt win even a corper or boiling ring let alone bronze..see the truth his he had ambition for naija, he convinced us enough to believe so for the first time in my life i voted and ȋ̝̊̅̄τ̣̣̥ was for him. He didnt know how this bad things happens, his name has bin transformed to be badluck for Naija. From subsidy, to Boko haram, to namibia make it a must to get visa b4 entering thier country, even Ghana that is suppose to be our neighbour now beef us to the fullest. These national humiliations are way too much..he has failed periodI was going to answer you when I saw dat u were responding to my comment but afta reading yr comment i wonda if u were actuali responding to me or smone else? Plz if u were trying to respond to me, read tru my comment again nd respond to every point raisd..Rants basd on 'points' like Siasia winning or not winning futball matches dont count; we are actuali talking about serious national issues here. Thnx |
lacasa: Tnk God its CAN ds time arnndNo, it shows dat u Lacasa re a Complete HYPOCRITE. were u not d one telling us here dat GEJ and d security are killing 'innocent' muslims indiscriminately(smtin dat sm 'elders' hv bn saying and dat a Shiek recently echoed)? Now u re in support of an organisatn dat is calling on d president to do wot Obj did to Zaki Ibiam nd Odi where massacres of entire populatns occurred. If d president were to do same to d ppl of Maiduguri, Yobe, Potiskum, Bauchi etc wont you and odas like you cm here nd scream at d top of yr voices dat a xtian President is committing massacre on 'innocent' muslims? Or wait, sm of u guys hv already said dat b4 bt u conveniently 'forget' cos an organisatn u ppl hv earlier termd 'enemy-number-one' is mking a call most of u guys hv bn wanting 4rm d start-kick out GEJ. Is it nt a little ironic dat an organisatn(CAN) dat had previously threatend to tk Obj to world court over wot he did in Zaki Ibiam is nw d same organisatn asking 4 same treatment to others? You dont kw when a person is speaking 4rm understandable frustratn over d killing of his ppl?...d current military operatn has weakend BH,as d US top African diplomat said recently(when was d last time BH succeeded in bombing high targets- they are nw reducd to gun trotting murderers); sm ppl re nw giving JTF actionable info hence dier successful raids in Kano, Maiduguri nd Yobe recently. We shld nw be talking about hw we can ALL continue to assist d security agencies so they can eliminate dem, nw dat they seem to hv bn weakend instead of distracting ourselves on a phantom 'resignatn' dat we kw will NEVA come..... PROPAGADAN cannot defeat terroists u know |
I'm tired of these announcements by the FG which promise things that will happen in the future. onatisi: is it by force to talk?this minister dem dey make ppl abuse them,so because the genertion spiked at 5000MW last week ,he feels the problem is over i know nnaji wons say such rubbish, this is a country that reqyuires at least 60000MW to function yet they are rejoicing on 5000mw,My friend read d article b4 postin confidently.d PHCN guy never said there will be no more power outages(it came 4rm d head of d OP), wot he said they d improvements noticd will be sustaind and dat d stricking PHCN Shiroro workers(sm of whom he calld Saboteurs) will not derail it |

Orikinla: The most populous nation in Africa with over 160 million people is generating only 4,237mw, while South Africa with 58 million people generates 45,000MW.Yea.d most populous nation in Africa was producing 2800MW two yrs ago courtesy of our useless former leaders, but is today producing 4200M and 4 d 1st time finally reforming d sector 4 Private sector participation(which is d only way to produce dose tens of thousands of Power needed by d most populous coun3 in Africa)...there is real PROGRESS 4 d 1st time, dat is wat we are acknowledging(not celebrating); and unlike many of u armchair critics, we will focus on d process and keep d officials on dier toes till we get wot we deservd as a nation |
Power supply has clearly improvd but to say that 'there would be no power failure again' is a Stretch....but wait a minute, d neither d PHCN official nor d article itself said dat; dat part came directly 4rm d head of d OP..Funky Mallam in deed |
Pataki: Now where are those dunderheads asking Bakare to speak against Boko Haram? He did not 'Speak against Boko Haram'(ie condemn them), he just embellished it, helping to further the "narrative" of a terroist group by saying that the Federal Government and Nigerian Security Agencies(Army,SSS, Police etc) are the real Boko Haram!!! He also tried to dissociate Boko Haram almost entirely from Islam. No sir, He did not condemn it. He just chose to curry political gains from the killing of innocents |
Olodostein: Hahahaha!!! You took a CHEAP shot at my moniker; that is the best you can do Ferret?Sorry, but what did you actually say here? |
We need to acknowledge the way the people of the Great City of Kano have cooperated with Security Agencies since the beginning of the insurgency there, by rejecting theses 'narrative' of these madmen and providing information to the Security agencies. If more people, particularly in the Northeast(Borno-Yobe-Bauchi axis) would do same, we would be seeing the end of the reign of terror as soon as possible. We should also acknowledge the sacrifices of the Security Agencies, whose service men in spite of the considerable danger they personally face in carrying out their jobs, have been doing their best to protect the rest of us. I note this line in the article: "A military push in the north appears to have weakened the group. However, Jonathan's critics say he relies too much on the military to defeat Boko Haram, rather than addressing northerners' grievances such as poverty and unemployment". While rejecting any idea that the insurgency is a result of poverty or unemployment, I agree that they aid the insurgency. The Government should therefore create an Economic Intervention Plan for the Northeast, targeting the people of the region, particularly the youths(however, this should NOT be targeted DIRECTLY at the members of the Boko Haram Sect so as not the create the impression that such kinds of violence would be tolerated, talk less of been rewarded). The Government should approach this plan in the same admirable manner, it has under a year, handled the issue of Almajiri by building schools across the region for them- sometime that past governments including those from the north itself had refused to do. May God Help US. |
El rufai compares the Nigerian Government to Nazi Germany and Apartheid South Africa !!! As a student of history and a Nigerian I feel very violated by dis crass comparison cos of a need to mk a dissenting political point? Does he know what the Nazis and Apertheid-Afrikaans did?...i hv lost every respect i oncd had for him*shakes head* |
nagoma: Each of GEJ 's ladies - Patience, Deziani , Oteh and possibly Ngozi can buy all the 8 plots with loose change remaining from their trips abroad. Nigerias corruption was child play before Jona came to the scene. - Fresh Air indeed.Lol at 'Nigerian corruption was a child's play b4 Jona'. The $300billion said to have been wastd or lootd as reportd by d World Bank and EFCC since 9ja startd producing oil, including d $12billion windfall dat got wings in a single administratn are Child's play abi?...You hv a right to deceive yrself o and those pips gullible enuf to tk u seriously #BlameItAllOnGEJ |
fankasibe: i will answeret u.The NRC has not been privatised. In fact, it has been completely turned-around and is now largely functional. Its moribud offices have been refurblishd, most its way stations and workshop have been retooled, it has already conductd about 2 massive Recruitment processes for new workers, while its rail lines are either been repaired or already functional after a long time. Some interstate trains are now running after more than 10yrs of inactivity(the Lagos-Ibadan/Ilorin rail lines has since been repaird and train are now running on d route; the Ilorin-Kano rehabilitation has been completed and trains are supposed to have been running South-North but 4 a new problem with a bridge). The other PortHarcourt-Maiduguri rail line is been rehabilitated as we speak and is supposd to be completed by year end(hopeful this timeline wud be kept). The contracts 4 new modern rail lines has been given though I hv very little clue wot amount of progress have been made in this respect..... So d NRC has not been sold but is now functional: thankfully, we no longer pay salaries to workers that do nothing like we used to do |
The transmission company has already been privatised.
Actuali it has not been privatised, it is just under private sector MANAGEMENT. The govt took a Strategic decision not to privatise d Transmission Lines but in stead 'concession' it out to a private company 4 management. Manitola, the well known International Power Utility company, is now managing it since July, and are expectd to do so for 3yrs b4 handing it over to govt |
kingoflag: Do not be deceived. loool Nigerians are hilarious. You will get your Electricity, but your joy will be short-lived. They know majority of you are forgetful and that if you get a drop of water every 20 years you'll forget that you're in hell and only look forward to the next drop of water. If you think GEJ has abandoned his plans to rule you forever, think again. You guys are in trouble and until you chase this corrupt government out of power it will be 1 step forward, 1000 steps backwards. They play you guys like yo-yos and, I won't lie, its kinda hilarious to see you guys falling for their tricks all the time.Na wa o..even Kobo wud nt descend dis low in her desperatn. Kobojunkie: um . . . Mr Rat, if you can counter that statement I made, do so. Else, spare me your long meaningless ramblings. I am tired of them and I no longer read them. I have been nice here! So, if you have evidence to counter my statement, post it or do me a favor and shut it!!It certainly is true dat d best way to SHUT a fanatical Lier or one who always Deceives(like u trying to give d credit to Obj and not to GEJ afta admitting improvements which u previously had spent more dan 10pages to argue against, inspite of most ppl actuali telling u they had witnessd sm improvements ) Up is to provide FACTS. Facts terminate Arguments nd mks anyone dat continues to argue against it , a complete a$$...done with you |
Kobojunkie: Technically, Obasanjo is to praise for at least investing in building of power plants which we are now enjoying. This is d 2nd time you will be doing this on this thread. cos u hv realizd that u can no longa deny sm of d improvements, u now wot to tk d credit away 4rm GEJ to Obj. my God why d need to deceive, do u hv d need to hate anoda person this much or just yrself. Yes Obj startd d Power Reform Process(a very important contributn of his bn d Power Reform Act dat set d legal framework 4 d sector); he also startd to build sm power stations. SOME of d stations were completed though sm of dem cud nt produce power cos gas facilities were nt connected to dem(they apparently 4got to include dat in dier plan!!!) while odas were ongoing when he left office. When Yar'adua came in, he haltd d process nd didnt release any monies cos of d noise generatd by d Power Probe(rememba?). This state of statics essentiali continued in large part till GEJ took ova 4rm Yar'adua, nd in wot was one of d 1st important tins he did outlined a Power Road Map(rememba?). Meanwhile, the power projects were finally continued, sm of dem later completed nd wit sm of dose 4rm Obj era, connectd to gas and now produces power to d grid; the Transmission and Distribution facilities were also bn improvd across d nation. all these is wot has culminatd in power rising 4rm bout 2800MW when he came into office to 4200MW today, as well as d general stability witnessed nd of course beta services to 9jerians... Even more significant in my view is dat it is GEJ dat has taken d most actionable STEPS in d Privatizatn of d Power sector: 1. He was d one dat dissolved d former PHCN into 18 daughter companies preparatory to dier privatisatn last yr 2. He paid d 'PHCN' workers monitizatn benefits nd increasd dier salaries by 50% so they can be at a better bargaining position wit dier new owners(and also so dat they will hv less incentives to derail d process dis time; there still is d Pension issue though) 3. He boldly introducd a new investment-friendly Tariff which has already startd to yield sm positives as IOCs are more willing to supply gas to d power stations now 4. The handova of TCN to internationally well-known Manitoba cop to manage for 3 yrs 5. Amazingly nd 4 d 1st time, govt in dis instance followd its own Timeline in d privatisatn process(submissn, closing, opening of bids), having met all d dates in d timeline and even goes ahead to remind us of d remaining 5 definate dates ,when d privatisatn process wud hv cm to an end-by October (again i wot to emphasize dat 4 d 1st time govt is religiously ff her timeline). To try nt to give him sm credit 4 dis is a sign of 'witchcraft', lol... |
kingoflag: And does it look like I was disagreeing with you? All I'm saying is that Nigerians should not get blinded by the "Improving Light" issue that they forget other important aspects of their life. They shouldn't forget that this Govt is utterly corrupt thats why its being shunned by sensible Governments all over the world. In the past wasn't Obama GEJ's homie? Didn't he tell us "Even Obama says I'm trying"? Why are they giving him a wide berth now? Let me tell you how disastrous this GEJ is: If dem born Obama well, make he hang around GEJ and see if Romney won't use it as an issue and destroy him at the Polls.Na wa o. If u actuali want to mk yr point try to be more concise nd read tru so as to avoid d use of Very Obvious Lies(VOL) in yr argument..hw can Obama nd his admin be giving GEJ 'a wide berth' wen d Sec of State(his top diplomat) is meeting wit GEJ today nd had to change her own schedule in oda to see him. Na wa o...lol at yr Romney comment- these sorts of lies dont wk any more |
Kobojunkie: Stop Lying!!Jesus Christ..i am browsing 4rm my fone now so i cant paste d link but plz type 'sack of TCN officials by nigerian power minister Nnaji', nd tell me d reason 4 d sack and weda d MW has nt bn increasing since them. Smone shld plz help to paste d link; Kobo needs to be shut up-ed |
feelamong: for the records...this is not the highest ever reached. We have hit 4420 mega watts before in January and what happened after that? What happened was that there were some saboteurs in d top echelon of TCN(Transmission Company of Nigeria) responsible 4 d decrease, who d Minister uncharacteristically identified and sackd (the 3 of them). Following which the situatn is again stabilising. This kind of swift response is one of d reasons why sm ppl re saying smthing is diff now...by d way, d TCN is now been managed by Manitoba International, a well-known international power utility company |
sean benito: This thread should be removed on the basis of the intelectual deficiency and ethnical leaning of numerous posts. My frnd define 'grossly incompetent'? am sure u re only talking about (in)security, right? Do u hv a clue wot an Insurgency(cos dat is wot it has become) means? Am sure d Americans must hv bn incompetent when they were controlling Iraq cos of d no of bombs dat were denoting left-right-centre during dat period? U tink wit d wave of d hand u can defeat an insurgency dat is accomodatd by SOME ppl in an environment nd partly orchestratd by sm power mongers?...so a group of terroists tell d leada of a coun3(yr coun3) to resign, nd u advice d leada to comply. where has dat dat happend anywhere in d world? hw did sm of us become 'fools'? u wud CAPITULATE to a group of Extremists, esp on dis issue nd expect not to be Ridden consequently by all manner of ppl. Sm persons need to seriously get sm educatn....dis time around GEJ shld use evri means available to him to crush dese ppl, nd if any person or group of persons just as much as stands on d way, he shld crush dem along..he shld do dis fast nd damn d consequencies |
