Wot is Buhari doing wit Chinwoke Mbadinuju,d former gov of Anambra who stole d state dry nd almost ruined it. Last wk, he was wit Hassan Lawal, d formal PDP stalwart nd Minister of Works who is currently in court facing corruptn charges, bt now a top memba of CPC nd one of those dat deliverd Nassarawa to CPC. D Gen shld plz choose his friends discretly....oh by d way, was it nt Gen Buhari who also said dat Gen Sani Abacha was NOT corrupt sm time ago?(these sorts of things mk 4 sm confusing)

Kobojunkie: Not to jump in the middle of your squabble with whomever it is you are throwing this out to but technically, there is still no proof that removing subsidy would have reduced level of corruption. On paper, that argument would make sense but reality is, even though the nation spent about a month this year(2012) paying full price at the pumps, and about the last 6 months paying(we are still in July here) the new Naira 97 price, according to Iweala, the fact is the Nation has racked up a bill even greater than it did before the removal.

So, yeah, no evidence that subsidy removal would have been the cure all that we were told it would be,yet and no assurances that an increase will be to the benefit of Nigerians still. For instance Nigerians were promised that the PALLIATIVE MEASURES would be of great benefit to them. So far, all we do is read stories of SURE-P helping what could amount to FANTHOMS since we don't seem to know where these beneficiaries of SURE-P live, who they are and how they benefited from it.
Are u saying dat if d subsidy was totally removed, there wud still hv bn subsidy money that can be stolen?hw wud there be corruptn associatd with nothing?...amazin

Delafruita: ignoramus.budget of last year was implemented to 83% in your dream abi.no be this country you dey when subsidy kasala burst?isnt it the money that should have been used to build roads, schools, hospitals etc that was used to pay for bogus subsidy?even if the government claims 83% implementation,we know 78% of last year's budget was for recurrent and since no government agency returned money, that means recurrent was used up while capital expenditure only achieved 5% implementation.so you expect us to shout halleluyah that our government knows how to spend but not how to make lifebetter for us.
Are u saying that just 5% of last yr's d Capital budget was implementd?(plz i wud advice u strongly to familirize yrself more wit budget matas b4 assertin views on it in public)...talking bout reading, plz use yr google on 2011 budget rate of implement- as at 31st March,2012, d rate of implementatn was 83%
Politics › Re: Okonjo-iweala- 100% Budget Implementation Not Possible By September by taharqa: 10:58pm On Jul 26, 2012
Delafruita: seriously,i wonder how you and the other laptop squad think.in 2007,obasanjo's final budget allocated 56% to capital expenditure and 44% to recurrent expenditure.5years later, goodluck jonathan allocates 76%to recurrent and 24% to capital expenditure.even if he achieves 80% budget implementation,we all know recurrent will be fully implemented meaning its only 4% of capital that will have been implemented.thats the grouse of the opposition in the national assembly and thats why femi gbaja referred to it as an abracadabra budget.the reason for insisting on 100% implementation is based on the fact that we alll know the recurrent will be executed fully,by requesting 100% implementation, femi gbaja is asking that the capital expenditure must also be fully implemented.is that too difficult to understand?
I think u hv got to b more careful of d kind of info dat u post on a public forum. The 2007 Recurrent budget was nt 44% bt bout 64%(meaning that d Capital component was 36%).the Recurrent kept increasing to d 70%range tru out Yar'adua's tenure to a height of 74% last yr(primarily driven by d huge Security vote 4 d Nija Delta crisis nd den d Boko crisis last yr); GEJ reducd it to bout 72% in dis yr's budget(which is admittedly still too high- though dat it has nw startd to go down is to be noted, just as d higher budget implementation rate of 83% last yr-both of which has finally startd to reverse a very bad trend)...once again u guys shld stop distorting info in oda to argue yr points

chucky234: Defend what slowpoke, did you go through my posts on this thread from page one? It took a government seven months to implement 56% of an annual budget and you dumbly believe they can achieve another 43% in two months,I can see where you are coming from. A clueless goon, 56% according to NOI represent N324bn out of the N404bn released so far.
In your dumb head you cannot figure out the effect such amount can have on this economy if properly implemented, your case is a lost one and I feel sorry for you.
Between 2011 and March 2012 GEJ govt borrowed N1.2tn and yet no tangible results to show for it and you are here displaying your stu;pidity in public.
I think b4 you 'shout'(ie assert) with confidence u shld check tru d info u re presenting 1st plz. The budget is nt 7 months old, it is under 4 months(it was signd in April), so d 54% rate is for less dan a 4 month period-do u still tink dat it can nt get to near d top percentiles within d remaining 8 months?..pluz u 4got to comment on d info dat last yr's budget implementatn rate was 83%(a real significant improvement ova d average rate of bout 40% since d return of democracy- wont it be seen as a gud improvement?)

ypzilanti: So the countries who execute 80% and Lagos State that is on 75% capital budget performance are Super-Human?

So a budget is just an annual ritual with no use since EIA will always stop you from executing your vision within a calendar year.

So NOI would have been doing 30% performance on world bank jobs if she became world bank presido?

She can do a lot better. I think GEJ is a bad influence on her.
For yr info last yr's budget was implementd at 83%(which is a rate double d rate of implementatn of previous govts since return to democracy), nd already dis yr's budget is at 56% implementatn(considerin dat we re still within 4 months of d budget-it was signd in April-me thinks d budget is on its way to bn even beta implementd). Gbawe: Indeed. The defense of that which must not be defended, by any sane and decent human being, is simply getting out of hand. This only makes a mockery of Nigeria as a nation with many dishonest, bigoted and politically gauche folks who simply speak because their allegiance is to individuals instead of to what is best for their Nation's progress. Even forgetting the cars, the silly fete should not be a priority for Nigeria if our President is one who is even minimally aware of the need to lead by example in very difficult times as most real leaders would do.

All I see, is a first family, with associated sycophants and cronies, who truly "don't give a damn" with how they are the ones supervising waste, profligacy and the bankrupting of Nigeria. The name "Obasanjo", if Nigerians were politically sophisticated, and for very obvious reasons, would be one as reviled as "Hitler".

http://saharareporters.com/news-page/african-first-ladies-jamboree-cpc-blasts-jonathan-pdp
My interest on dis particular issue is hw pips mk dier conclusions 4rm info presentd to dem. Lets look at yr post plz: 1st, noticd dat d CPC spokesman talkd bout 'exotic cars...that were ordered'(an ambigous word dat betrays his uncertaintity bout weda d said cars were bought or leased). Now,d criticism has mainly shiftd to why hosting d summit at all.bt who decides d type of summits 9ja can host?who determines which summit is a 'jamboree' or nt?wont sm ppl also argue dat First Ladies in Africa gatherin to discuss peace,HIV/AIDS nd Women issues?if d First Ladies in Africa were so useless why is it dat international agencies nd bodies routinely liase wit dem on these issues?is 9ja d 1st coun3 to host d First Ladies nd on wot grounds shld 9ja reject to host it dis time wen it is her 'turn' to host?importantly, why did d spokesman 4get to tell us exactly why d summit is a 'jamboree' nd d cost of hostin such to 9ja? I tink u need to learn to differentiate Constructive criticisms geard towards helping d nation nd Political criticisms whose aim is to furda political gain(Context: these guys kw dat d First Lady is fair game nw cos of her veri silly decision to b part of dat complete Perm Sec mess recently). Now on dis talk of Depressd Economy nd Finances dat i hear bout dese day, i ask myself which economy actuali- d economy dat has grown 4 an average of 7%,an economy whose net trade inflow in d 1st quarter of dis yr is bout $10billion,an economy dat was d largest recipient of FDI in Africa last yr nd continuing in d first quarter of dis yr,an economy where FIRS nd Customs has overrearchd dier projectns already,an economy whose Foreign Reserves has increasd 4rm bout $32billion late last yr to bout $37billion nd whose GDP/Debt ratio is still lower dan d world's threshold-no 9ja economy nd finance is nt depressd,it is just nt workin(ie managd properly) 4 d majority of ppl. Just to reinterate nd as I said previously, IF d said cars were bought den it is totali condemnable nd i will put it amongst d list of WASTE of 9ja's govts 4rm independent(egs d huge bureaucracies in various govts necessitatin a huge Recurrent relative to Capital expenditure, d large no of mostly useless aids as evidences as evidencd by d current sack by d Bauchi state governor of 6000 'special advisers' last wk,meaningless foreign trips, sponsorship of xtian nd muslims prilgrimages nd budget of huge monies 4 Ramaddan fast nd rams, even d 3000 CHOGM cars etc etc).am a strong advocate of Lean govts as much as it is NECESSARY bt also cant tolerate distortn of info nd peddlin of such by ppl wit agendas.i see dat alot nw wit ppl criticizin d president-d strategy, particularly d type nd intensity, is in my view nt only wrong bt counterproductive as it will mk a lot of persons, includin dose of us dat were sm of his harshest critics, to b pushd away towards seeing as d 'victim' of a group' of power mongers' nd so tryin to undastad him. One can criticize bt nt by distortns, esp d person is sure of his/her stance.tanks

Demdem: my friend shut up and read the report through and stop exposing ur stupidity. here are the facts and the various references if u care, u can wait for Tribune or Thisday or even AIT etc for all i care waiting for them to carry the story. thats ur cup of Tea. Until the Govt comes out to deny it, will stick to these:

A useless conference is being convened by the Retardeeness

First Lady Patience Jonathan is the convener of the event, with the theme “The African Woman: A Voice for Peace,” which is expected to be attended by spouses of African leaders.

Sources to the reporter claimed they are 200 in all

The cars comprise 80 units of BMW X3 and X5 series with a market value of N13.5 million each, while the remaining 120 are exotic models of Honda, Jaguar and others.

Sources told Daily Trust that the vehicles were supplied by Coscharis Motors, and 180 units have already been delivered to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Saturday.

The same source also told them that the Minister of state for Finance is in charge of the transaction

A source said the transaction for the 200 cars was processed by the office of the Minister of State for Finance.

Was it hired, leased or outright purchase? No one can authoritatively say what exactly it is

There was conflicting information by last night on whether the cars were bought outright or hired, and no government official was ready to speak with our correspondents on the record for this story. Nihe also could not confirm to Daily Trust whether the cars were sold or leased out to the government for the event.

However what cant be disputed is the fact that there is a transaction btw Coscharis and the FG

he said the company had supplied vehicles to the Federal Government but refused to state the number and cost.

“I am not in the position to give out the real value of the transaction,” he said.

Efforts by the reporter to know the truth by contacting the governmental agencies were unsuccessfully

Attempts to seek explanation from the office were not successful as a spokesman declined comment while the minister of state, Dr. Yerima Ngama, did not answer calls to his phone on Monday.

Also, attempts to get reaction from the office of the First Lady were not successful. Her spokesman Ayo Adewuyi could not be reached by telephone on Monday and yesterday.

U can now see that u are indeed the foolissh one here. whether u believe the source or not is a different matter entirely and until the government comes out to present their so called true position about it , i have decided to believe it. Go kill ursef if u have issues with that
Plz read tru wot u just wrote again- d write up is full of conjections, 'If dis or that', '...my Source said' etc. yet u said 'until d govt comes out to state its position..i have decided to it'. How do you bliv a story wen u hv nt heard 4rm d oda side

azimibraun: Are u guys nigerians @ all? Hv u guys tot of its implementation @ all? Hw hs d odas such as d fIB bill worked? Wt of local content? Dis wll change noting.
Just to correct certain things here: some really nice developments are actually taken place in terms of the Local Content Initiative unlike say the Cabotage Act(that is not really working); on the Freedom of Information Bill- the bill is there but cannot 'implement' itself but need people to test it(the question is how many of us even know enough of the significance of the Bill to test it). And by the way, I think this PIB Bill if passed will definitely change certain things. There are 3 main components of the bill: Unbundling of the NNPC and the Oil industry, Transparency in Oil Process and New Effective Tariffs for the country. Once the bill is passed, the 1st purpose of unburdling the inefficient NNPC and making it a commercialized company will have immediate significant effects; I am not very sure how this version of the Bill handles Transparency issue, though I hope it does not change much from the original bill since it was not too controversial then; it is the 3rd major aspect(Tariffs) that am really concerned about- in fact i hear that they have compromised with the Oil majors here cos of investment fears(so I hope that when it gets to the National Assembly, the legislators will be patriotic enough to do what is right for the nation and not some Oil companies).

All considered though, this is really good news. I hear that the Sovereign Fund has now fully taken off after the governors finally gave their consent, which is another piece of good news.

lacasa: Well, david mark has given his opinion on the matter anϑ i wld say he has chosen τ̅o take the easy way, instead of the real hard truth abt boko-haram.

if he thinks bokoharam is purely a religious issue then, i think our senate president is not being true τ̅o himself anϑ Nigerians as a whole.

what fuels violence the fastest in any society is first of all "Poverty anϑ Unemployment". Without this, i doubt even if there were radical preachers anϑ financial sponsors for committing suicide bombings, it wldnt be †ђªt easy to find the people τ̅o carry these bombs anϑ commit suicide bombimgs.

if tђere wasn't an alarming rate of poverty anϑ unemployment in Nigeria; the north in this case, i dnt think religious fanatists wld be our problem.

Let's not forget, "an idle mind they say is the devil's workshop".

The Senate president is from Benue state which falls under the Northern region (former middle-belt) anϑ part anϑ parcel of the Northern Political Elites.

What i can deduce from his statement is †ђªt if he goes with the reality †ђªt the level of poverty anϑ worrying levels of unemployment in the region is as a failure of good leadership from the same people such as himself who ave been at the top echelon of power, during the IBB regime where he was a governor to a minister of communication anϑ now presently the Senate President.

He has used this stance τ̅o shy away from the fact that if he goes with the fUll "reality" of the situation, it wld be a confession of incompetence anϑ bad leadership on his part as a top northern leader anϑ elite for well over 20 years.

Though, i agree †ђªt the religious leaders need τ̅o be checkmatd on the kind of teachings anϑ radical views †ђªt can give rise τ̅o fanatism in both Islam anϑ Christianity, but the most important anϑ urgent problem is the problem of "Poverty anϑ Education".

i just don't see Ђδω an educated man †ђªt has something doing striving τ̅o develop himself anϑ upgrade hos social standing anϑ †ђªt of his family as we all aspire τ̅o, will fall victim τ̅o radical teachings and go with a bomb τ̅o waste his life anϑ others after enduring the hassles of educating anϑ empowering himself for years, be him a muslim or a xtian.

those of you callin on the millitary to take over who is going to plot the coup, is it the northern millitary or the southern millitary remember what happen in 1966 this country is just in danger the earlier we realise that know one is safe the better it is for us.
Great point. Some persons have a terrible sense of history. For those people calling for military takeover(including those that have always had it in their plans cos they dont like d present govt) consider this Possible Outcome: if a coup happens and a northerner(either directly or indirectly) is even SUSPECTED as leading it, then be assurred that other parts of the country will totally reject it and all hell will be let loose. The ppl of d nija delta(whose 'son' was removed and whose 'turn' was ) will turn-off the life wire of the country(oil) as the villagers and the militants will take ova the oil wells and infrasture, and the country will come to a halt!! We go suffer,no bi de one wey we dey fit manage even wit de crisis 4 north-salaries will not be paid, investments will dry up and wot eva is left of the economy will collapse. If the military tries to take back the area, it will lead to the massacre of very angry and determined villagers, just as the militants will not only engage them but will start to massively blow up oil infrastruture-both the massacres and the destruction of oil installations will draw the 'attention' and direct participation of the West and even China. At that time, the military will be showing signs of cracks amidst the ongoing sectarian killins in EVERY part of the country and deep mistrusts, the ppl of the Nija Delta will ask the West 4 'protection' sayin they do not want to remain within Nigeria. Others in the country(think of the SE) will make same demands, the West wud oblige. It is the quickest way to break the country. I hate wen ppl dont think things through cos they dont have a sense of history(I regard dose ppl as 'functionally uneducated' nd i dont a damn bout the level of education they have attained). Nuff said.

Some of u guys disgust me. A lady takes the time to write to us about her excitement on finding out her possible ancestry(something obviously important to her)and seeking assurances and wanting to understand dat part of herself, and you guys turn it into an ethnic baiting thread, that not only ignored her and her primary concerns but even in a sense trying to pass subtle insults here or there. Once again,it such a shame nd reflects poorly on us(another case of a few ppl giving us bad names i guess)...@OP dear.i share your excitements and ask you to disregard some of the few silly posts here(you know this is a public forum) and i join most of the other posters to WELCOME you to the Nigerian family. Nigerians are smart, hard-working,fun lovin and as you can see here, very talkative but confident ppl(na only political leadership na im be de big wahala-oh! by the way you would have to learn Pigin English as you learn Yoruba). Once again welcome.

@PhysicsQED am sori am just responding,I was somewhat busy and also I could not access this site for the last 3 days.

I think biological evidences(cranial metric and nonmetric, skeletal) is important in demonstrating some degrees of changes between Early Egyptians and Modern Egyptians, especially when we also utilize other lines of evidences in building our model(archaeological, historical-linguistics,geography,climate,general culture etc).
However, as you suggested Genetics can also be important. You would need aDNA analysis of ancient Egyptian samples across different periods and different locations and then do rigorous staistiocal comparison with neighbouring populations; the problem is that aDNA analysis is very rare paertly cos of the problem associated with ancient Dna preservation. I am aware of about 3 aDNA studies: a 12th Dynasty pharaoh where the lineage identified is said to be 'subsaharan' while other lineages were not identified(Paablo et al 1993), the 1st millennium AD(so late) Dakhlet oasis study that had a 'mixed' genetic profile but with the 'subsaharan' component said to be younger, and of course the recent 2012 DnaTribes analysis of Amarna pharaohs that reveal genetic profiles today common in certain parts of inner African http://www.dnatribes.com/dnatribes-digest-2012-01-01.pdf .

Most of the studies are on MODERN Egyptians all of which show that MODERN Egyptians have a diverse genetic profile from Africa, Mediterranean and Near East with the African components generally older and the Delta Egyptians much closer to some nonAfricans than the upper Egyptians(which can be interpreted, though not with certainty cos we are just modelling from modern Egyptians, that those nonAfricans that we know migrated markedly especially in the Delta imparted significantly on MODERN Egyptians ).

Some studies on MODERN Egyptians include: http://genapps.uchicago.edu/labweb/pubs/krings.pdf (Kings et al),
http://wysinger.homestead.com/haplotypes_in_egypt.pdf (Lucotte et al), but use this Keita and Boyce study
http://hpgl.stanford.edu/publications/AJHG_2004_v74_p1023-1034.pdf. See these on the Arab main introduction of J1 seen in the Delta: http://hpgl.stanford.edu/publications/AJHG_2004_v74_p1023-1034.pdf and
http://hpgl.stanford.edu/publications/AJHG_2004_v74_p1023-1034.pdf ; also see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14748828.

Its good that you are cautious, so the information that you have now use it to seek more info on this and other subjects
