What an insecure and intolerant government, averse to criticism; and inept at doing the right thing! |
Demdem: Peeps seems not to understand that the moment the retardeen publicly knelt down at the redemption camp to be prayed for was the day he launched his 2015 presidential campaignBro, the campaign kicked off formally on the day his posters flooded the streets of Abuja to test his popularity. Henceforth, billions of naira will start missing from government coffers 'cos GEJ will begin to pacify those corrupt political elites to pave way for his second coming! |
gogodaye: The combined cacophony of the voices of 'fearful' Esau and the deceitful ploy of Godloving Jacob. I'll stand by the decision of the John Momoh led Channels Communication management team to take a cue (after seeing the body language of the worlds' most powerful president from Nigeria) to sustain their survival and security from the frustration of a god-man who is simply too pretencious to admit and accept help knowing that the task ahead is far above his head. Now we too well what not to believeBrilliant! |
Nigerian politicians will float their campaign posters to test their popularity, only to accuse the opposition when they receive negative response. Koro should park well, saying that the opposition sponsored the campaign posters of an insignificant politician is inane and jejune! |
Make fuel subsidy and pension money no miss sha! |
The President has the right to appoint his preferred nominee and he isn't obliged to seek anyone's consent to do that. We do not hear of any religious or ethnic dichotomy among Northerners when efforts are being made by Northern law-makers to favour the north as a whole when issues like PIB, revenue allocation etc crops up. Well, this is an elite manipulation and an intense struggle to have a piece of the national cake. Its left for the President to allay their fears and anxieties! |
The government seems confused. The indigenous airlines are neck deep in debt and are yet to account for the N300billion intervention fund earlier granted to them which most have ended up in individual coffers? Even if government decides to partner an international airline like the Kenyan experience for a National carrier, do we have the culture and discipline like the Ethiopians and Kenyans? Have government taken into consideration that the global airline industry is a highly leveraged one, with thin margins? Will the airline be willing to financially commit itself with the bad experience of Virgin? There seem to be a grand attempt in Europe and North America to run African carriers out of business to ensure European airlines dominate the continents airspace. Also looking from hindsight with NAL and Virgin, once an airline is tagged a national carrier it begins to exert so much control and influence on government thereby threatening the existence of other indigenous carriers, and the national carrier would also want to claim the ownership of BASA even when it does not have the full capacity to cater for all travellers! Government needs to provide the right frame work for indigenous carriers and support them before introducing a foreign airline to partner them! |
thelastPope: First and foremost, you do not necessarily calculate per head when you are providing food for 18500 persons except you got a quote from a caterer and no caterer will quote N50 per meal. I know exactly what i am saying. I am not saying the money allocated is enough, I am only saying there is more to the rot than talking about allocation. Even the monies from the party rentals and adverts for the college cannot be accounted for. If the police are truly sincere about it, they will add that money to what they get from government and use it to improve the lot of the force. do you see Airforce or Navy quarters looking like that? Do you know how many trailer load of rice and cows, excluding trailer loads of other items, the police gets from both local industries and businesses every year. You need to go to police house and police warehouse during Christmas and salah to see for yourself.Bros, the allocation was on per head basis, Same thing applies to the NYSC programme. For the Deputy Commandant of the College to boldly state the amount without fear or prejudice shows that the N150 daily meal ticket is from the government! The Rentals and Advert space are illegal so funds accrued from there are unaccounted for! The amount allocated for the armed forces training and institutions in 2012 was N14billion, so you don't expect them to complain. |
thelastPope: What the man said on TV, was it the allocation in the budjet or the actual money they receive? For your information, there was scandal some years back where it revealed that monies were illegally deducted from salaries of junior police officers accross the country. You need to understand what I am saying. This is actually the case in many institutions across the country. It used to happen even in the super eagles and other national teams. They quote a figure in the budjet and pay something else. My goal is to scrutinize the situation so as to find out what is really going on. I do not believe that the budjet contains 50 naira a meal.Bros, N851million was allocated as the entire training budget for 2012 and 18500 trainees graduated as at december last year. It shows that almost N46000 was budgeted for each trainee a year. The N46000 divided by 12months will be almost N4000 per month. Based on these calculations, its possible that the inconsiderate government provided N150 feeding allowance for the trainees per day. This is almost not a matter of some officers diverting the funds but that of a treasury looting-self satisfying government! |
thelastPope: Honestly, there are some issues I find difficult to comment on. If Channels TV truly cancels a project like this because of FG bullying, then they are fools and useless! Simple as that! This is 2013! Anyone comparing it to Dokpesi issue is just funny. FG issue with Dokpesi had nothing to do with AIT broadcast. It was purely a different matter. Dokpesi was campaign manager for IBB. I need not say more. AIT is not even an anti government station per se. They make a lot of their monies from government stuff. The crux of the police reneging is probably due to the report that GEJ lambasted the officers who granted Channels tv the permission to film the documentary. The expose was an embarrassment to government. We will be deceiving ourselves if we claim that government cannot frustrate the attempt of channels to help raise fund. Though I'll like to give government the benefit of doubt that it wants the police Reform Fund bill to be passed before allowing for interested donors! |
thelastPope: ACN supporters are really making NL funny. Everything for them is our party versus their party. No allegiance to Nigeria. Their only allegiance is to ACN! Every topic is an opportunity to insult the president and campaign for ACN! Imaging if the republican party respnds to every issue by attacking the Dems. There are issues of politics and issues to be addressed as Nigerians. If Channels TV say they were bullied by the government in 2013, then they are fools that need no sympathy! That is a ridiculous thing to say in todays world. Bullying any news station will only make them popular and endear them to the world. It beats me when I see the level of ignorance and partisan politics on this forum! SMH! Nigerians are the losers for it!Bros you neva talk anything on top this matter! Na ACN, CPC or cabal make dem stop the forum? |
eGuerrilla: Haba @take dat, you are asking the obvious here.Hehehe, you just nailed it! Reasons why GEJ will do nothing to Olubolade, a one time benefactor of his and the wasteful bureaucracy(Min) that controls police pension and award contracts for police facilities! Rogues as Leaders. |
Maxymilliano: The budgetary provision for the Police is the third largest in 2013 budget after Education and Defense... This shows where the President priority lies.Bros, the total budget of the police sub-sector for 2012 was N331billion and a total provision of N311billion made for 2013. Does the president's priority lie in the reduction in police funding? the overall personnel cost of N293billion for 400000 officers is meagre! |
eGuerrilla: I could not agree more with the emboldened portion of your post.Bro, even though the bill was rejected, there have been budgetary allocations from the FG together with contribution from state governments and local governments since 2011, a total of N40billion was jointly contributed in 2011-2012 though I have no figure for 2012-2013. The question is where are these monies? |
GEJ choristers shouldn't get overly upset, the election is still two years from now before GEJ packs his belongings under the watchful gaze of Buhari or whoever to Otueke! Lol |
Maxymilliano: This is the only part I find quite saddening, Prison inmates also enjoys same amount as daily meal allowance, this shows how degrading the police force has become. Its disheartening, that is less than a dollar a day! Pathetic |
babyosisi: See the clip on the linkMa'm, the squalid conditions those trainees dwell is real but that of 50 trainees sharing a fish head was exaggerated. There seem to be a connivance between top officers who invited Channels tv and the trainees to paint a gloomy picture! |
Is this impossible claim of 50 persons sharing a fish head supposed to make us feel sympathetic to the plight of the police? Guess the exaggeration was geared towards convincing government to improve their funding and for well meaning Nigerians to help contribute in the fund raiser organised by Channels tv! |
. |
thelastPope: And you think those reports details how they have no beds and sleep on the floor? You seem to forget that there is money allocated for these centers yearly. The reports on his table are mostly reports detailing how to take the police to international standards with high tech gadgets and world class training centers not that the police cadets currently have no bed to sleep on or that they eat from buckets. They can't put that in the reports because there is money allocated for that yearly. Do you see the airforce or Navy traning centers looking like that? The documentary is actually a true picture of the police institution as a whole. Its quite possible the President wasn't aware to the extent of what was uncovered in the documentary but he knows of the never-ending maladministration and corruption bedevilling the force. If he claims he is not aware of the dilapidated buildings inhabiting police officers nationwide, then he has lost touch with those he preside. The Gambo and the other civil society report submitted by Ayo Obe detailed most of what Channels reported. Well, let us hope he does something about it now! |
konn: shut up the private jet belongs to d emir silent oleHehehe, its attention that you desire and aint gat none for a scoundrel! |
thelastPope: There is a big difference in saying police formations are in a bad state and you watching police cadets in training eaten like pigs in a pig house. If you say you knew it was as bad as the documentary showed then you will be a big liar! Nigeria as a whole is in a bad state but that doesn't mean everyone has the same picture of how bad it is. You think a child who lives in Ikoyi really pictures police officers eaten from a bucket? Or you just want to generated argument traffic for Seun? LolEven if I concede that the "arrangee" documentary between top police officers and Channels tv exposed the squalid conditions to Nigerians, I am still convinced that the President has a near perfect picture of the bad state of police formations and barracks prior to this documentary because series of committees, reports and recommendations on enhancing the welfare of the police are on his table without been attended to! |
mrhello: I thought its only Oritsejafor, Adeboye & Oyedepo dat hv private jet as Clerics! Where are d criticsHaven't you heard of Private jet charter/rental before? Half-Wits always be looking for whom to vent their frustration on! |
Demdem: During the intro of CPC merger committee, he was quoted to have stated that the merger talks has no selfish ambition undertones whatsoever so its possible he may jettison it. It still doesn't change the fact that they will surely have less votes than if Buhari himself contested. I hope ur optimism becomes a reality.I know this is all about political permutations. If Ribadu gets a good support from ACN and Buhari, he will score more votes than Bihari did in 2011. The only obstacle that could wane his support base up north is if PDP presents a northern candidate! |
gboss4sure: If GEJ contest election in 2015 he will win.. So don't get your hopes up for nothing. You guys don't know tinubu at all. Every ACN insider insider during the last election of 2011 knows what am talking about.Guy, its people like you that gives Tinubu a larger than life image, he knows deep down that if he assist in truncating the merger his relevance will become worthless because they seem to be a lot of disaffection towards him right about now! |
Demdem: I have heard this several times however having an idea of the average psyche of our brothers up there i doubt if this will work. Let buhari raise Ribadu's hands as much as he can, he simply cant gather as much votes as what Buhari himself will gather. The guy is simply an enigma up there. its all about the numbers.Read somewhere that Buhari may decide to jettison his ambition for the merger to sail through. With Buhari's support for Ribadu, then its a done deal up north! |
Eziachi: Who did the ACN governor worked for in 2011, because last I checked Ribadu they fielded is still asking, what happened? If you were opportuned to read one of Tinubu's interview where he stated that Ribadu had mutually consented to dropping his ambition for Buhari prior to the inconclusive talks with CPC, and since CPC wasn't forthcoming they(ACN) had to work with Jonathan cos they had nothing to lose or gain. But if the merger sails through, it will be a different ball game entirely. |
Akpan107: My dear, i totally disagree with you! Buhari can never win the North completely, as voting for a President has turned into religious divide... Now, 40-45% of people in the North are Christians who would never trust the Buhari presidency...Exclude Adamawa, Kwara and Kogi from your list. If the elections goes on ethno-religious sentiments and a lacklustre performance from GEJ, a northern muslim candidate will get enormous support from these states |
Deep Sight: @ Naijababe, I hear you, but please remember the key word is "realistic" for the opposition to have cross-country appeal.Instead of the Fashola-Utomi ticket, I guess I'll rather prefer a Ribadu-Utomi one. If Buhari concedes to Ribadu, he will most likely garner a lot of votes in the North, while Utomi will appeal to the quasi-intellectuals, students and the neutrals, and the ACN governors working for them in the SW |
thelastPope: So you think the report states that police trainees eat from a bucket? Or you don't know that monies are actually allocated and disbursed yearly for the fixing of these structure. If you truly want Nigeria to change, you should be calling for the heads of those embezzling the money. But maybe it is about politics for some of you so when a government official embezzles money somewhere in minna, you insult GEJ.Guy, you make GEJ seem like a President held hostage by his subject. If he is unable to call the minister and IGP he appointed to account for monies appropriated, it shows he doesn't have a firm grip on his government. You must be a compulsive liar if you claim you were unaware of the bad state of all police formations and barracks before Channels aired it. |
Demdem: And why will they fret? We are looking at a VP slot here not the presidency itself. If u are indirectly talking about the SE, for now forget the presidency. They have placed their destiny in the hands of Ebele Azikwe Jonathan. They also could look for another VP slot.Word! |
Symphony007: when those pictures where published there was widespread horror and disgust from the public so you won't claim everyone knew about the state of that school. In summary i'll ask a question. Overtime there have been multiple reports of things like this, the government does'nt respond and nothing is done to them. Why do you think the president was so particular about this that he diverted his plane headed for abidjan to lagos to visit this school?Well, he knew the Opposition were going to feast on the matter hence he had to. He has the report of the Presidential Police Reform committee which he constituted and which was submitted in August 2012, yet he hasn't deemed it fit to attend to any of the recommendations in it which includes the welfare of the police force! So much for a serious president |
