Why didn't yoruba people of Ondo State vote in ACN in the Governorship elections? Anyway Yoruba people are neva united. Ask OBJ
He/She goat, Yorubas are not fools and they know what they want in a leader. It is only Igbos that vote for a repeat of non performance. Take a cue from Theodore Orji and Martin Elechi.

Though the caption seem to be misleading because there is nothing wrong with a party taking a proper examination where they failed and how to amend such occurrences in future elections. Part of what ACN should scrutinise is the problem of imposition and godfatherism.

Mimiko's victory is well deserved, a good example of one good turn deserves another.

Nonetheless, ACN is a regional problem and its not the woe that has bedevilled Nigeria in the last 13yrs. While showing our angst on a tiny cabal in the SW who are trying to stunt us, we should not be carried away or lose focus on the bigger evil which is PDP.

Sorry if you took that personal. ACN is a regional amala party with few members other parts of the country. I personally don't see any progressive politician in Nigeria.

I only took you on because you seem to be disparaging another party while trying to paint the other as sane. The same way you have a right to air your opinion so should you allow the other guy. Political parties in Nigeria are birds of the same feather.

You only modified the last part after I had dropped my comment.

most businesses in lagos is not run by yoropes

but they claim lagos as if they are the-ones that used their papa money to develop am bloody ingrates

If out of foolishness ascribed to your tribe you chose to develop Lagos at the detriment of your region why lay your anguish on the Yorubas.

The last time I checked there was no Ibo man listed in Forbes yearly report. Adenuga and Otedola two of the three listed billionaires have companies in Lagos that pays heavy tax than any Ibo owned establishment.

If the hate of Yoruba is heating you up the earlier you jump inside the lagoon the better

My only reason for them to merge is because we can't keep creating god fathers in the SW and so that Tinubu's power can be usurped. The people in LP today were in AD the day before and PDP yesterday. Politicians are all the same all they need is a platform

Alxmyr: Mimiko need not be a godfather.
The system is already divided against ACN.
People will not go back to PDP.
ACN is performing less than their expectation and more importantly, people are seeing ACn as another PDP in a new garb.
Mimiko election is the tipping point that another political strategist in SW can latch on and capitalise on.
This election is a warning to ACN governors that people will judge them according to their performance. This is also to ACN's advantage as they will start covering their loop holes and re strategise. The next election in the SW is still a year from now, I believe this is a saving grace for ACN governors now in their respective states to perform more so as to meet people's expectation.

politician: What you have said is just the TRUTH!!
I worked with Mimiko campaign orgainzation in 2007! Ȋ̝̊̅ write articles for the partisan newspaper he used to flush agagu!!

ACN made a mistake of TRUST!! Something that does not exist in politics!!
Let's leave performance index, this election is about an agreement!! -- help me to fight my enemy, Ȋ̝̊̅ would join you.

ACN left ondo state out of the political scheme during the last election believing mimiko would cross carpet!!

Prof boroface + others could not renegade on the agreement, they joined ACN from LP!!

The prof days are numbered as a senator as a petition is on ground already!!

ACN funded mimiko's court cases, even used adaba Fm to counter OSRC!!

And ACN that i know( yes i do) knew it was a lost-cause, little wonder, they didn't even try to rig!!
The alleged riggers were all LP!!

The choice of akeredolu further stress the system of fielding technocrats by ACN!! Accomplished professionals in their field and that was a mistake in this case, olusola oke on an ACN platform will have closed the gap!! Ale was just too musch of a gentleman!

Jagaban taking the election personal too really fuelled mimiko' strategy of ''appeal to pity''.
Mimiko survives only as a one-man entity!!
A very good strategist!!

As for the apathy, some people were I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅̊ a dilemma on who to vote for, others are just too scared to be seen voting the opposition!!

ACN played politics of brotherhood----- trust and investment gone awry!!

And bro, the people of Ondo did not like mimiko, they only hate tinubu, can't forget the Cocoa house issue and want to protect their oil from the so-called tinubu-company!!
I concur. For ACN to still have a little appeal they most not challenge the outcome of this election if not that will spell doom for them. I'd expect them to be the first to congratulate Mimiko so that other SW neutrals won't see them as bad losers.
In the long run I see ACN, LP and some other parties merging. The only way to get rid of god fatherism is by having Mega Parties in Nigeria.

15 LGAs counted and remaining 3.

The breakdown according to political party;

ACN 116,662,

LP 222,448

PDP 113,688

New Futa VC to announce the cumulative and final results!!

For political inclined individuals, can we have an intellectual and critical analysis of the cause, effects and back-effects of the polity and politics of this election (pls not mimiko vs tinubu blabbing)!! A fragmentation within the opposition!!

The appeal to pity of LP!!
The megalomaniac tendencies of ACN stalwarts!!
The role of PDP!!
the tricks and politics!!

Some of us know the two parties so well than to start blabbing mimiko/tinubu!! Let's analyse pls!!

The tale of a Godfather, Godson and the Principal!!!

The economies of regional integration as a tool for national relevance( towards 2015) ....( At least jona go pay more with 6 states)!

DK, prof corruption, demdem,PointB, gbawe, and other political minded and mature NLs!! Let's the info flow! Ȋ̝̊̅ am willing to learn!!
The first thing I noticed from this election is that they seem to be a lot of voters apathy. One would have thought with the election fever that pervaded everywhere before the actual election, more voters would have turned out to cast their votes for a candidate of their choice.

From my own view this is still a good showing from LP. The mere fact that Mimiko got high votes in perceived ACN and PDP stronghold shows that the people of Ondo likes him.

ACN also tried even with all the anti Tinubu sentiment he still pulled a 100k plus votes out of say 500k valid votes. Not minding the it has more of a political novice as its candidate and it is a relatively new party in Ondo State (reasons for a long time they dilly dialled with Mimiko thinking he was going to decamp to ACN. Guess there started putting in structures on ground in Ondo just say 2yrs ago).

PDP just lost that seat less than 4yrs ago, one would have thought they should still have structures on ground. Some people from Abuja (ie Agagu, minister representing Ondo, Kuku etc) just didn't put things right and I think they had this problem of imposition just like ACN.

Mimiko himself stated in an interview that he co operates with the ACN governors when it comes to regional integration. Mind you Governors Forum has no political colouration.

The people of Ondo have made their choice

I agree with you. Who would have thought that PDP that just lost Ondo state 4yrs ago would have no Solid political structure on ground to at least test Mimiko's popularity. The problem with our politicians is that they are quick to dump a loosing party for the one in power.

ijigbamigb: I think Mimiko is the only one capable of countering the antics and politics of the ACN.
One sure thing is ACN would have defeated the PDP if both are left to face each other. But Mimiko is surely not a baby-politician. He really has the intelligence and political charisma to stand as a better opposition to the ACN in d entire south west. But my fear is that, aside Mimiko in dt party, the rest are onlookers. He's d alpha and omega of that party.

I wish him a successful second term, but he has to start grooming acceptable personalities if he wants to remain in power even after leaving office.
I voted for him simply because d other candidates appear unprepared.
Won't Mimiko be going the Tinubu way if he decides to spread its reach outside Ondo to other states. He needs heavy investment to do that and the only way to get fund for such project is to use Ondo state's money. Mind you Tinubu's woes started just like that when he wanted to extend ACN to other state he had to use Lagos State money. Let us thread softly. While basking in euphoria of Mimiko's victory so as not to create another godfather

Timehin: True talk!

Discerning people ought to know that Mimiko will win but unfortunately most do not study events due to sentiments and bias reasonings. Mimiko is a man that never lost touch with his poeple despite his movements from ALLIANCE FOR DEMOCRACY to PDP then to LABOUR PARTY cos they believe he will not betray their TRUST. And that is one of the reasons for his large followership, also Ondo indigenes are no pushover when it comes to politics inspite of Tinubus self acclaimed godfatherism and political dexterity.
And when Tinubu talks of betrayer which is the worse than a man enriching himself at the expense of his people cos an ACN governor demonstrated a semblance of performance where others have failed and thereby hyped it to high heavens to strategise a personal takeover of a region under the guise integration.

Though many will say its politics but we have spoken and the choice is ours!
Yeah I quite agree with you. The yorubas have always shown politically maturity when it comes to electing their representatives and when also to deal with them. We need to create an alternative to ACN but my fear is that we might be creating another Tinubu. If LP decides to spread its tentacles to other SW states much funds will needed to do so and that might spur Mimiko into being Corrupt just like when Tinubu wanted to spread ACN.
You seem not to understand that you are just one person among very many other people and you have as many people who believe you as those who don't agree with you. If PDP present a good candidate in Osun and Aregbe continues what he is doing presently till 2015, he will lose the election just as Akeredolu have lost. The Lagos mafia has been demystified by Mimiko and many people even within SW/ACN are getting more uncomfortable with Tinubu's total political control of the region.

Unless Aregbe changes his ways, 2015 is his to lose. The other option is if PDP and other parties present unpopular candidates. You don't know that people are excited with this new found power in the ballot paper in their hands and they will gladly test it out on anybody.
I have no affiliation with ACN and I reside in a PDP state though not involved in partisan politics but a keen observer. Yes Aregbe or whoever that does not perform to expectation should be voted out but you'll agree with me that politics has its own dynamix. All my projections for now are based on last years outcome but no one knows what the future holds and coupled with the internal wrangling in SW PDP.
Lastly ACN was never going to win Ondo Either with Tinubu's influence or not. Performance speaks for itself

There are about as many people who share your opinion as those who do no share your opinion. Simple as that. You peeps on NL just do propaganda. SMH!
Guy you just answered yourself. We don't run a one party system in Nigeria so other parties are bound to have loyalists but bottom line is that ACN won the majority. So if I say that Nigerians love and voted GEJ it doesn't mean some people in their millions don't have sympathy for Buhari or Ribadu.
I have no stake in any political party everything I have said is based from my own perspective and the outlook of things

saxywale: I know it may be hard for PDP but they have still got lots of supporters in the southwest. If Aregbe tries to contest in the next election, he would only be able to amass votes in Ilesha and that's it. Osun people would rather vote for PDP than vote for aregbe. I hope ACN replaces aregbe with a better candidate else they should forget winning the next governorship election.
Seem you have a personal vendetta against Aregbe. ACN might lose Osun but not to PDP simply because the real PDP big boys of Osun Politics ie Oyinlola and Omisore lost their respective elections by a wide margin that they decided not to appeal cos the defeat was glaring for all to see just a year and half ago.
Though am not on ground in Osun but based on last year's outcome it looks bleak

thelastPope: Why do you people always say "the people of the SW abhors PDP"? That is a very false statement. Both Ogun and Oyo were very close races. Ogun was ACN 300k+, PDP 200k+ and PPN 100k+. How is that the people of the south west. Same happned in Oyo with PDP and Accord party. The figures actually showed that if there had not been a division in PDP, they would have won easily. So how does that translate to the people of the south west. Even in Lagos, PDP won the LGA election in Badagry, island, Ikorodu and Alimosho only for the result to be rigged at Alausa. The recent court ruling just proved that. So how does that translate to the people of the south west?
The tsunami witnessed in the last elections suggest so and not based on my perception. The examples of Ogun and Oyo only buttresses my point. In the case of Oyo, it was a battle to unseat Akala and there were two other choices. For the mere fact that ACN and Accord a relatively unknown party could pull such votes against the incumbent Shows the level of detest Oyo's had for PDP and its candidate.
The case of Ogun whereby ACN won in the polling booth of OBJ and the rejection of Bankole says a lot. That PDP and PPN an offshoot Of PDP still had it difficult to make a cumulative of what ACN scored with all the resources at PDP's disposal.
Election is about popular representation in those two states ACN won. The notion that ACN rigged in Alimosho is a fat lie cos that is their stronghold in Lagos.

And who is to replace ACN for now in those States, Is it PDP? The return of PDP to SW will likely be a case of a camel trying to pass through a needles eye. LP is not grounded yet in those states except it merges with PDP and this will soil LP's reputation. I guess we are still stuck with ACN for now.

Those whose investment went down the drain will have rather different perspective to all that!
What is my own in spending millions of pounds? I have no stake in politics. Those that lost investment should take it in good faith. Like they say "no permanent enemies in politics, only permanent interests". If Akeredolu decides to accept the outcome of the election, he stands to benefit more from his association with Mimiko than hundreds of thousand who trooped out to vote Mimiko. These people are elites and they know how to play their cards.

The positive thing from this election is the display of political maturity by the Yorubas. Mimiko's victory is not because of the incapability of Akeredolu nor the influence Tinubu weirds in ACN but because of the vision they see in Mimiko's programmes.
The states in which ACN won elections last year saw a better alternative in them to PDP. As a Yoruba, all we ever wish for is the uplifting of our region either it comes from LP or ACN candidate. I see today's victorious day for the Yorubas. Its no victor no vanquish between LP and ACN cos no matter what the governors of both parties will still need to work together for regional integration.
