kenpaul0: Video said MI-24....and i didnt see any special maneuverability...it just kept going round....Are our rockets in operation anywhere in the various theatres in Nigeria? I just said we need to buy at least 3 Rooviaks to TEST...they may end up performing better than what we have....no harm trying...and i still maintain our guys collabo with Denel
Mi35 is an improved variant of mi24. I said the hind has the manueverability you need in combat. Some manueverability moves are only for airshows etc. You're not going to try them during a fire fight with terrorist armed with Manpads or even RPG.
Buy 3 Rooivalk for test we've not even bought 3 jets for test
Yes our rockets are being deployed in NE. It was mentioned during the airforce day.
moneybag100: Wao!!! So things are even worse in south cyprus than north...I have a friend who just got a cable visa to study in south cyprus , I will rely this message to him, if he like make he hear.
kenpaul0: I believe that the Rooviak has better maneuverability. I also believe it can be fitted with more firepower...Also our guys in Lekki can do a crash course with Denel to enhance and then subsequently produce home grown rockets/missles
The mi-35 has the manueverability you need for combat. You can watch the attached video.
The helicopter can be armed with up to eight 9М114 or 9M120 Ataka-V SACLOS radio guided anti-tank missiles, up to 80 ‘S-8’ 80mm unguided rockets and 20 ‘S-13’ type 122mm unguided aircraft rockets.
If you want the Rooivalk for some other reasons then no problem.
We produce our own rockets already.
NB: strictly intelligent discussion and not an argument.
Before you think of dropping out, remember he's an Harvard University drop out. The intellect is there.
All these guys that dropped out from Harvard, Stanford etc are smart, they didn't need those schools, but that doesn't mean they didn't study. They managed to learn things by themselves at a faster pace than was offered to them an evidence of this is their admission into these Ivy League universities.
Moreover, your demographics is an issue. Alot of Nigerians will be more successful than they are if they reside in developed countries.
kenpaul0: Whats blasphemous in my statement? Its the truth..we need to buy a few and test run...it might in the long run be a cheaper Helo for us to run in Nigeria...
Question: why should we get the Rooivalk? When the Mi-35M fits our requirements perfectly. The Rooivalk adds no special capabilities to our airforce.
These guys made mistake of being in possession of assault riffles. Even those CJTF fighting bokoharam which is being approved of by the federal government do not posses assault riffle.
Odunayaw: All woes to the last Air Chief. Serviceability was a big problem
...but still something needs to be done. We keep borrowing money from some source to fund other things but we ignore the defence while people die everyday. Take a loan worth billions or strike a deal with the Chinese on defense acquisitions (not some useless deal where our airport will be sold like a particular country did)
I have also noticed Nigerians complaining about funding our defense sector. Nigerians need to realize I'm as much as infrastructure is important, defence is also important. If you're satisfied with the government taking loans worth billions of dollars for economic/health/infrastructural reasons then you shouldn't complain about taking loans for defence.
lionel4power: > Daily News NIGERIA BUDGETS ADDITIONAL PAYMENT FOR JF-17 ORDER FROM PAKISTAN 1.6k SHARES In its federal budget proposal for 2018, Nigeria has allocated NGN 13.12 billion ($36 million U.S.) as a payment for an order for three JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighters – along with support equipment and spare parts – from Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC). This follows an earlier allocation in 2016 worth NGN 5 billion ($13.9 m U.S.). Nigeria’s budget proposal confirms that the Nigerian Air Force’s order for three JF-17s is still in place, but it is being executed through installments paid in cash. The Nigerian Air Force, PAC and Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) have yet to release a timeline for deliveries. In its budget proposal for 2017, Nigeria had earmarked $68.76 million U.S. for platforms for “counter air, counter surface, air ops for strategic effect and air support operations.” It appears that the JF-17 is sharing the allocation with the Russian Helicopters Mi-35M, for which Nigeria took delivery of two and has 10 on order (with delivery slated for 2018), and potentially 12 A-29 Super Tucano turboprop-powered close air support (CAS) and light-strike aircraft. In August 2017, the U.S. State Department greenlit a proposal worth $593 million U.S. to sell A-29 Super Tucanos to Nigeria. In December 2017, the U.S. submitted a letter-of-acceptance (LOA) to the Nigerian Air Force to finalize the purchase and issue initial payments by February 2018. In July 2017, the Nigerian Air Force started taking delivery of the Super Mushshak trainers it ordered from PAC in 2016. PAC delivered five new-built aircraft, replacing the interim aircraft it had lent in December 2016. Nigeria has a total of 10 Super Mushshak on order. On the surface, it would seem as though the JF-17 is factoring as a lower priority on the Nigerian Air Force’s procurement roadmap, certainly in comparison to the A-29 (which is to have a launch order of 12 planes). However, defence analyst, historian, writer and retired Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer Air Commodore (AC) Kaiser Tufail told Quwa that he believes there is a strong rationale for the small launch order: “Nigerian Air Force has taken an incremental approach to the induction of the JF-17. Considering the fact that it does not operate an advanced modern fighter other than a dozen F-7NI (a variant of F-7MG), it seems sensible to have ordered three-odd JF-17, on which maintenance crews would get trained, followed by pilots that will form the core and be available for follow-on inductions. Tufail added that incremental purchasing also makes fiscal sense, “Financially, it also makes sense to stagger the purchase so that it can be funded from within own resources, rather than overburdening the economy by taking loans.” In addition, by committing a few Block-IIs for a start for primarily acclimation, Tufail stated that Nigeria can stage the bulk of its future procurement for the forthcoming JF-17 Block-III: “From an operational standpoint, a small purchase of the existing Block-II aircraft leaves open the option of inducting Block-III, which is likely to be available in about two years or so. During this time the NAF would have set up the basic infrastructure and trained sufficient pilots to induct the more advanced version of the JF-17.” Finally, with PAC mostly focused on fulfilling the requirements of the PAF (i.e. fulfilling the PAF’s objective of supplanting a 190 aircraft by 2020), a small export order is sustainable: “While the NAF may not be ready to induct the JF-17 en masse for the above-stated reasons, PAC Kamra is also constrained by its production capacity, as it has to cater for the PAF which needs to replace its older fleet of Mirage III/5 and F-7 at the rate of one squadron per year. Apparently, the small initial order suits PAC quite well, since the export orders have finally started, and more countries in Asia and Africa are likely to take the cue from NAF.” Nigeria will join Myanmar as the second third-party user of the FC-1/JF-17 platform. Myanmar signed its order for 16 FC-1 during the 2015 Paris Air Show. Myanmar’s first FC-1 was spotted undergoing flight tests in China in June 2017.
Daily news does copy and paste too? Last few paragraph has been on defence.pk for how long.
Odunayaw: I also hope it isn't aircraft fatigue too
I join to yell for more platforms
Few mi-17 they're being stressed out in my own opinion. Combat + transport. If those puma will do very well in combat, I'm sure NAF will over task them.
Stephandeswardt: Seriously i think after this BH issue, the govt should get proof against chad and carry out a bit of strike on chad.......i will advise am ammunition dump and their airforce
There was a time our troops were killed by shilka mounted on Toyota (same used by the Chadians troops ) the Nigerian military was able to capture the hardware but we lost some guys then. Our military claimed those weapons were not from Nigeria.
In my opinion, put a very tight and strict rules on MNJTF. Increase ISR activities I'll suggest more armed ISR platforms should be purchased.
Deploy MRLS, HOWITZER, and more tanks for ground troops and find a way to deal with IED.
Iraq did it and took back MOSUL and others. We can push those useless BHT out of Nigeria and force them into Chad.
Nigeria attacking Chad means we've equipped ourself with good air defense systems.
cstr1001: But you and your fellow ilks claimed that Nigeria voted for palestinians because they are on the side of Justice. lol. Religion don finish una.
The southern Cameroonians are facing far worse injustice than the palestianians. Unlike the palestinians, there is a cultural neo-colonialism being fostered on them by the french part of cameroon.
You are afraid of France a second rate power that Algeria can handle, yet your country went to piss off the almighty USA and the Israeli Mossad.
Okay na.
Who made a comment about Nigeria vote against Israel? It's of no concern to me man. I expected NIGERIA to have hit that "abstain" button after all it's my opinion and I can't tell those guys what to do.
France is a country with nuclear weapons. That's their last defence. Algeria has leaders with interest in defence hence their sophisticated acquisitions. We've all criticized the Nigerian military but we're not DHQ. Those guys do what they feel is the best.
KingRabota: Controversial comment. But one of the most articulate and much better than most of the uneducated garbage being displayed here. The fact is the people of Southern Cameroon have been marginalised for decades, their peaceful agitations brutally crushed, everyone alive has the right to self determination and freedom of speech. Tyrants and Despots like as Paul Biya can't stand this. The Nigerian state also being a closed society can't understand the concept of Rule of law and wouldn't want such agitations for freedom on their borders, hence the kidnap or special ops as you euphemistically described it. African Tyrants are yet to understand that once a concept has reached its time no amount of intimidation or coercion can stop it. By the way France is a second rate world power seeking relevance by semi colonisation by forcing unpopular criminals on their client states and perpetuating the rule of crooks. Their Time is up. FG free the freedom fighters, seek a legitimate right
Yes, they've been marginalized and I know about it as I have classmates who originated from there.
Yes, this is Africa hence why such thing is still possible so we just need to adapt to it. Moreover, countries such as China, USA, Israel are doing this things too but these guys are just too covert plus the inability of our media to inform Nigerians of reasonable political news from those countries.
France remains the most powerful country dominating the West Africa with vast military hardwares located in Chad, Cameroon and her puppets. The French military still remains strong and not something nigeria would want to mess with except we have equipped our military to a very good standard.
These things happen here in Africa because they're aware of the kind of government we run and to them illegality is out of it since its Africa.
What has bullying and criticism achieved in the world today?
Only more disasters, violence, backwardness, ugliness.
Let's give love a chance
We can't even control all these things the government does. In my opinion, some circumstances are even bigger than the president.
Imagine France telling us arrest this people and we're waving a $5billion loan you have with us? Or you don't arrest this guys and we will stop buying your oil etc.
This falana and his attitude of trying to gain attention. All these law ish doesn't conform to such ops. You don't need an extradition law to handle such situations. This should have been covert and no media should know about this already.
You should know when it comes to intelligence and issues of national security which also deals with national unity, you will do every single thing to keep an ally. Apart from the Cameroonian government requesting for the arrest of those arrested, I'm sure no one wants to mess with France too.
Bullshit! Number one action during an attack is cover. No matter who you are either SBS, SEALS, SAS. SOF.
You expected him to rush into the crowd because he's an officer? Other officers still remained on their position so it doesn't even seen like something serious for them.
