Anybody seen El-Rufai's twitter TL recently? The guy sounds so childish and unintelligent right now. I know he is supposed to be one of the bright lights from the North but he has allowed bigotry taking over him.
Farouk Lawan that I liked, made a mess of himself. Sanusi, is happy to be a Jihadist.

All I have now is Ribadu and maybe Tambuwal. I weep for my North.

NB: This is coming from a Southerner.

Okija juju: [b]600 million?! shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

OKAY!! Let me think out loud here for a second.... So if 600million passed through his account in 3 months, shouldnt the money be easy to trace back to its origin? undecided
Someone must have deposited the money in his account. How about they trace back to the day of the deposit, what bank, what name, was it in cheque or cash. Banks have CCTV's, if it was a cash transaction, the day of deposit can be found and the tape reviewed. Shouldnt the bank had red flagged his account when such large amounts of money are suspiciously passing through his account?! Didnt the bank sense money laundering? How was he able to withdraw 600 million naira with such ease from a bank under this new 'withdrawal cap' of 1.5million (abi na 10 million) that Sanusi put in place? When such large amounts of money are being dealt with, banks always photograph the bankers of such monies, so did the bank do so?! If the bank didnt, then is the bank manager an accomplice?!

Too many unanswered questions..

this story sounds like a lie.

Welcome to the true problem of Boko Haram in Nigeria. I lived in the North and understand this very well.
The terrorists have good support and have well placed people, in government, military, SSS, police, judiciary, banks and private sector.
Boko Haram is a northern tool. It backfired though, they didn't expect it to slip out of their hands but it did. Now, Al-qaeda and other international terrorist Islamic organizations have taking over.

Okay, before I start getting questions, I DIDN'T WRITE THE ARTICLE, I just "stumble upon" it and thought of sharing and probably get opinions from those who have benefited already.

Anyway, I recently developed interest in fruits (maybe because I'm getting "old" grin) and it impressed on me there are several ways we could promote healthiness, save cash and prevent trauma.
Health15 Health Benefits Of Eating Apples by TechyGuy(op): 7:54pm On May 19, 2013
Many of us forget that sometimes, the simplest answers are the best. Better health could be as easy as reaching for the fruit bowl for some apples next time you need a snack

What makes apples so great?
In 2004, USDA scientists investigated over 100 foods to measure their antioxidant concentration per serving size. Two apples—Red Delicious and Granny Smith—ranked 12th and 13th respectively. Antioxidants are disease-fighting compounds. Scientists believe these compounds help prevent and repair oxidation damage that happens during normal cell activity. Apples are also full of a fibre called pectin—a medium-sized apple contains about 4 grams of fibre. Pectin is classed as a soluble, fermentable and viscous fibre, a combination that gives it a huge list of health benefits.

1. Get whiter, healthier teeth
An apple won’t replace your toothbrush, but biting and chewing an apple stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth, reducing tooth decay by lowering the levels of bacteria.

2. Avoid Alzheimer’s
A new study performed on mice shows that drinking apple juice could keep Alzheimer’s away and fight the effects of aging on the brain. Mice in the study that were fed an apple-enhanced diet showed higher levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and did better in maze tests than those on a regular diet.

3. Protect against Parkinson’s
Research has shown that people who eat fruits and other high-fibre foods gain a certain amount of protection against Parkinson’s, a disease characterized by a breakdown of the brain’s dopamine-producing nerve cells. Scientists have linked this to the free radical-fighting power of the antioxidants contained therein.

4. Curb all sorts of cancers
Scientists from the American Association for Cancer Research, among others, agree that the consumption of flavonol-rich apples could help reduce your risk of developing pancreatic cancer by up to 23 per cent. Researchers at Cornell University have identified several compounds—triterpenoids—in apple peel that have potent anti-growth activities against cancer cells in the liver, colon and breast. Their earlier research found that extracts from whole apples can reduce the number and size of mammary tumours in rats. Meanwhile, the National Cancer Institute in the U.S. has recommended a high fibre intake to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.

5. Decrease your risk of diabetes
Top 20 flat tummy foods
Our best healthy apple recipes
6 reasons to eat more apples
Women who eat at least one apple a day are 28 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those who don’t eat apples. Apples are loaded with soluble fibre, the key to blunting blood sugar swings.

6. Reduce cholesterol
The soluble fibre found in apples binds with fats in the intestine, which translates into lower cholesterol levels and a healthier you.

7. Get a healthier heart
An extensive body of research has linked high soluble fibre intake with a slower buildup of cholesterol-rich plaque in your arteries. The phenolic compound found in apple skins also prevents the cholesterol that gets into your system from solidifying on your artery walls. When plaque builds inside your arteries, it reduces blood flow to your heart, leading to coronary artery disease.

8. Prevent gallstones
Gallstones form when there’s too much cholesterol in your bile for it to remain as a liquid, so it solidifies. They are particularly prevalent in the obese. To prevent gallstones, doctors recommend a diet high in fibre to help you control your weight and cholesterol levels.

9. Beat diarrhea and constipation
Whether you can’t go to the bathroom or you just can’t stop, fibre found in apples can help. Fibre can either pull water out of your colon to keep things moving along when you’re backed up, or absorb excess water from your stool to slow your bowels down.

10. Neutralize irritable bowel syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain and bloating. To control these symptoms doctors recommend staying away from dairy and fatty foods while including a high intake of fibre in your diet.

11. Avert hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are a swollen vein in the anal canal and while not life threatening, these veins can be very painful. They are caused by too much pressure in the pelvic and rectal areas. Part and parcel with controlling constipation, fibre can prevent you from straining too much when going to the bathroom and thereby help alleviate hemorrhoids.

12. Control your weight
Many health problems are associated with being overweight, among them heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. To manage your weight and improve your overall health, doctors recommend a diet rich in fibre. Foods high in fibre will fill you up without costing you too many calories.

13. Detoxify your liver
We’re constantly consuming toxins, whether it is from drinks or food, and your liver is responsible for clearing these toxins out of your body. Many doctors are skeptical of fad detox diets, saying they have the potential to do more harm than good. Luckily, one of the best—and easiest—things you can eat to help detoxify your liver is fruits—like apples.

14. Boost your immune system
Red apples contain an antioxidant called quercetin. Recent studies have found that quercetin can help boost and fortify your immune system, especially when you're stressed out.

15. Prevent cataracts
Though past studies have been divided on the issue, recent long-term studies suggest that people who have a diet rich in fruits that contain antioxidants—like apples—are 10 to 15 per cent less likely to develop cataracts.

Health15 Health Benefits Of Avocados by TechyGuy(op): 7:46pm On May 19, 2013
Avocados, or also called alligator pears, are a fruit that belongs to the Lauraceae, a flowering plants family which also includes camphor, cinnamon and bay laurel. These fruits are believed to be originated in Mexico, where the name of “avocado” is derived from Aztech or Nahuatl word ‘ahuacatl‘, meaning ‘testicle‘, a reference to the shape of the fruit.
The avocados are very popular in vegetarian cuisine, as a substitute for meats in sandwiches and salads because of its high fat content. It is used as the base for the Mexican dip known as guacamole, as well as a filling for several kinds of sushi, including California rolls. Avocados are rich in a compound called beta-sitosterol which has been shown to be effective in lowering blood cholesterol levels. According to a study, patients with mild hypercholesterolemia who included avocados in their diet for 7 days had 17 percent decrease in total blood cholesterol levels, a 22 percent decrease in both LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels, and a 11 percent increase in HDL (good cholesterol) levels.
3. Control blood pressure
Avocados are also a great source of potassium, which helps in controlling blood pressure levels.
4. Anti-Inflammatory properties
Phytonutrient compound found in avocados, such as polyphenols and flavonoids have been found to have anti-inflammatory properties, thereby reducing the risk of inflammatory and degenerative disorders.
5. Promote eye health
Avocado is an excellent source of carotenoid lutein, which known to help protect against age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
6. Regulate the blood sugar levels
The monounsaturated (good) fats in avocados can reverse insulin resistance which help toregulate blood sugar levels. Avocados also contain soluble fiber which keep a steady blood sugar levels.
7. Prevent birth defects
Avocados are rich in folate, a B vitamin commonly known as folic acid. One cup of avocado provides about 23% of the recommended daily value of folate. The high amount of folate in avocado is essential in the prevention of birth defects, such as neural tube defect and spina bifida.
8. Reduce strokes risk
The high levels of folate in avocados may also protect against stroke. A study has shown that individuals who ate a diet rich in folate had a lower risk of stroke than those who did not

PoliticsRe: Northern Elders To Jonathan - You Have Declared War On Northern Nigeria by TechyGuy: 4:28pm On May 17, 2013
Actually its the North that declared war on Nigeria!

The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power.
Kaita, however, said he was happy that some notable Northerners, such as former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd); Atiku; former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari; former National Security Adviser (NSA), Lt-General Aliyu Gusau (rtd) and a few others are in the race to represent the interest of the North.

As usual ACN/CPC supporters will talk down on this and try to ridicule those (who were free from corruption as long as they were in ACN) that defected. But when PDP folks(who opposition describe as corrupt) defected they become progressives.

In as much as I pray for a viable opposition, ACN/CPC is as bad or even worse than the worse people in PDP. There are exceptions though, just like there are exceptions in PDP.

Nairaland GeneralArgumentativeness And Verbal Aggressiveness: "Traits" And Management by TechyGuy(op): 7:50am On May 12, 2013
I stumbled upon this piece and got interested as I have observed how discussions in Narialand are often derailed and the purpose defeated.
A lot of times, what would ordinarily be a good discuss becomes attack on persons, ethnic groups, and so on.
When I got through the article, I discovered I am guilty as well.
I'm making a thread of it with the aim of making Nairaland discussions more educative, entertaining, informative and even when we disagree on positions, it doesn't have to end up in hatred and "verbal aggressiveness".

Have a great week ahead Nairalanders.

Argumentativeness and Verbal Aggressiveness Two Argument-related "Traits"

Based on the work of Professor Dominic Infante of Kent State University
These notes are adapted from course materials prepared by Professor Robert Gass, California State University, Fullerton
Argumentativeness
• Defined: “A predisposition to recognize controversial issues, advocate positions, and refute opposing positions” (Infante)
• Infante considers this a personality trait
• Argumentativeness isd proposed as a subset of “assertiveness”
• It Is generally considered to be a positive, constructive trait
Argumentativeness and Assertiveness
• Assertiveness and argumentativeness are viewed as constructive predispositions
• Assertiveness includes being forceful, firm, using reasoning to defend personal positions while refuting the positions of adversaries
• Research has shown that “high argumentatives” are seen as more credible, eloquent, creative, and self-assured
More on Argumentativeness
• High argumentatives are willing to engage in argument, like to discuss controversial issues, initiate arguments, express disagreement
• Low argumentatives dislike arguing, shy away from conflict, withdraw from arguments, and are reluctant to voice disagreement
Finding a Balance
• The idea is to strike a balance between precipitating arguments needlessly and avoiding arguments altogether.
• One’s style of arguing should lie between the two extremes.
Verbal Aggressiveness (VA)
• Defined: a predisposition to attack the self-concept of others
• VA Is associated with name-calling, the use of threats, and ultimatums, negativity, resentment, and suspicion
• VA is generally considered a negative, destructive form of communication
• VA Is similar to Brockriede’s notion of the arguer as “rapist” or Walker's arguer as "abuser"
Four Main Causes of Verbal Aggressiveness
• Psychopathology (attacking for other unresolved issues)
• Disdain (expressing hate thought verbal attacks)
• Social learning (modeling behavior)
• Argumentative skill deficiency
Verbal Aggressiveness--continued
• Verbal aggressiveness is an assault on another’s self concept, rather than his/her position.
• Individuals who rely on verbal aggressiveness are viewed as less credible, have less satisfying relationships, and resort to physical aggression more often.
• Consequences of verbal aggression include: lower self-concept, frustration, anxiety, anger, and resentment, embarrassment, physical aggression.
• Verbal aggressiveness is viewed as a skill deficiency whereby an individual lacks the verbal skills required to deal with normal disagreements and everyday frustrations.
Forms of Verbal Aggressiveness
• Name calling, insults, put-downs
• Character attacks, ridicule
• Racial epithets
• Threats, ultimatums
• Nonverbal aggression—rolling the eyes, gritting the teeth, looks of disdain
Some Caveats or Qualifiers
• The two traits are not inversely related.
• An individual can be high in argumentativeness and high in verbal aggressiveness
• Culture bias in argumentativeness
• Sex differences in the two traits:
-- In general, males are more prone to argumentativeness than females
-- In general, males are more prone to verbal aggressiveness than females

Managing Verbal Aggressiveness
• Avoid verbal aggressives: don’t engage people who are known to be verbally aggressive—don’t be an “enabler”
• Example: I’m not going to argue with you unless we both have a chance to speak our minds and unless you refrain from insults.”
• Be polite: allow the other to speak without interruption, use a calm voice, practice empathy, allow opponent’s to save face
• Example: “I can understand why you are so upset. I would be to under the circumstances.”
• Define the argument: Make sure everyone agrees on what the issue or point of contention is
• Example: “We were arguing about where to spend Thanksgiving, not whether I’m selfish or inconsiderate.”
• Example: “Let’s deal with that issue in a minute. I want to get back to what we were just talking about.”
• Recognize shifts from constructive to destructive
• Example: “I realize you are upset, but that was uncalled for.”
• Example: “please don’t shout at me. I can hear you just fine.”
• Do argue, Don’t attack: focus on the issues not on personalities
• Example: “I’m not saying you are selfish or cheap, I’m saying you didn’t pay your share for the dinner, whatever the reason.”
• Be aware: Be attentive to the kinds of situations that can trigger aggressiveness:
• Win-lose scenarios, personal rejection, “sandbagging” (storing up grievances)
• Know when to stop arguing: leave-taking is also a communication skill:
• Example: “If you continue to call me names, I’m going home.”
Application to Intimate Relationships
• "Skill Deficiency Model”: lack of argumentation skills is a catalyst for aggression, violence.
• Watkins (1982): lack of effective conflict management skills is a major issue in domestic violence
• Infante, Sabourin, Rudd, & Shannon (1990): A catalytic reaction to violence is most likely to happen in marriages where both spouses have latent hostile dispositions and argumentative skill deficiencies.
• Walker (1984): Battered women attempted to prevent abuse by trying to pacify their spouses, or accommodate them in any way possible
More about Abusive Relationships
• Infante, Chandler, & Rudd (1989). Spouses involved in violent relationships tend to exhibit lower argumentativeness and greater verbal aggressiveness.
• Rudd, Burant, & Beatty (1994): Battered women rely on different compliance-gaining strategies than women in nonviolent marriages.
• Battered women rely more on indirect strategies; ingratiation, promise, explanation, deceit, etc. Their choice of strategies reflects their limited power and control in the relationship.
• Rudd & Burant (1995): Battered women used more indirect strategies, followed by more power-based strategies (threat, direct request, aversive stimulus). Non-violent couples tend to use a greater variety of strategies than abusive relationships (more middle-ground strategies). Non-violent couples tend to de-escalate conflicts by ignoring some types of negative communication by their partners.

Gamji007: Why do you include Buhari in the statement of making the country ungovernable for GEJ! All those comments where credited to Atiku and other PDP criminals who are destroying this country irrespective of the area they come from. The same Atiku and co that fought hard to rig the elections in 2003 against Buhari. I'm not an ethnic bigot like you and wouldn't miss the point that Atiku,Obj,Ciroma,GEJ,Anenih,Sambo,Bode George are all criminals and enemies of this great country

As for the comments credited to Gen Buhari especially on "Dogs and Baboon getting soaked",My eyes get misty when I read the stories by so called interlectuals, who poach on the feeds from the jaundiced mainstream press, online forumites ad infinitum. I just kept wondering why you guys are so biased in its reportage of the statement of Buhari’s “kare jinni Biri Jini”. The expression was made in Hausa language; not in English so why the overzalousness to give Buhari a bad name by doing a deliberate mistranslation  of a common proverb in a language which I believe you do not speak? Where on earth are translations done from one Language to another by translating the individual elements (words) from the original language (source language) to the secondary one (target language)? The statement Kare jini biri jini is an Idiom,in case you don't know( but I believe you know) and idioms can't be translated directly. If I say its going to rain cats and dogs, you would expect to see cats and dogs falling from the sky, would you?

I wish to categorically state that Buhari never said "Dogs and Baboons will be soaked in blood", he only said "Kare jini Biri jini" which even when translated directly does not mean what was reported by PDP media propagandists.

To all PDP goons,I still dare anybody to quote or give a reference where Buhari promised to make this country ungovernable.
I did not include Buhari's name in anything, read my posts again. Statements attributed to Buhari are all there in my posts.
Yes it was Kaita that said that they will make Nigeria ungovernable for GEJ or any Southern president, but read it again.

The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power.

Alhaji Kaita. Tuesday, 05 October 2010
Take note that Kaita was happy to get the backing of these Northern leaders including Buhari, which all came, IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR PARTY AFFILIATION.
You will be damned if you think it is a party thing! I feel sorry for those in South West, South East and South South that are forming alliance with Buhari and these Northern bigots.

wellmax: It is very unfortunate that several NLders are commenting trash. Hate or like Tinubu, there is nothing wrong in what he has said. Jonathan is the President of Nigeria and should caution his aides when they make statements that are likely to destabilize the fragile democracy in Nigeria.
You are also biased in your comment. Most people do not really support Dokubo and Kuku but they are calling for Tinubu to stop being a bigot by saying the same thing in response to Buhari, Kaita, Ciroma, Aliyu et al. They all said inciting statements, in fact, more inciting statements that have been matched with actions by CPC supporters since 2011. He exonerated Buhari and their folks when they made worse statements REPEATEDLY. How come the double standards? That's the problem, not that Dokubo is right.

Leebeedo: Nigeria is doomed! I live and work in Lafia and I want to give u guys a full gist of what really happened.
Everything boils down to 2015 gubernatorial race. The Egon people said they are tired of been ruled by foreigners (i.e migrants from Maiduguri) which the current governor Umaru Tanko Almakura and the emir of Lafia are and so they’ve started preparing for 2015 elections. The militia group actually recruited youths but they never did it forcefully, Egon youths voluntarily enlisted themselves because we never heard of such occurrence @ the church (Egons are predominantly Christians, say 98%). Sometimes, we see the militia group matching around Lafia peacefully with their black uniform not disturbing anyone or causing mayhem and even sometimes, we see their leader drive around his SUV robed with all sort of charms and we laughed.
The governor got scared because of the growing strength of the militia and even attacked them severally through Fulani herdsmen, they even killed a Fulani herdsman close to my house early this year.
The governor’s second shot was through the emir. He invited the chief priest to his palace and tried to charm him but the chief priest defeated him and it was even rumoured that the emir was dead that period. (RUMOUR)
Discovering that he couldn’t succeed with his Fulani herdsmen and the emir strategy, he decided to use the police, SSS and civil defence guys through the commissioner of police, one stupid Yoruba man that doesn’t know his job and really good at driving around Lafia with his dead BMW disturbing with siren sound. The commissioner fell for it and he sent his boys to arrest the chief priest of the militia. They claim to have gone there peacefully to arrest him, but ask why they went with machine guns. The killed some of the militia guys but the militia wiped them all, just about 6 of them escaped. I don’t think the militia group used guns because I went to the hospital where they deposited their remains (Dalahatu Specialist Hospital at Shendam road) and I saw deep cutlass cuts on them and I also saw stuffs like blue powder on them, they were burnt and were over 100 in number. Immediately this happened, the governor ran to Abuja and later ran to kano probably to meet with the emir. The commissioner cried all through but many don’t know why he cried. It’s because he’s to retire in 2 months’ time but now will likely face dismissal.
The candidate egons want to put forward is Solomon Ewugha (not sure of the spelling)
Thanks for the info, may God keep you from harm.

Now, my previous posts does not mean I support Dokubo. I can not however hide my disgust for the hypocritical way in which the opposition seeks to gain cheap popularity. It's appalling and shows they are the real problem of Nigeria. They are the same people that exonerates Boko Haram giving excuse of poverty and corruption in govt as the reason for the insurgence, same people who did nor said nothing when NYSC members were murdered in numbers when CPC and the Northern leaders were matching words with action.
They kept quiet when churches were torched and bombed severally. They kept quiet when Fashola sacked 800 doctors in one day. They kept quiet when Fashola hiked school fees from N50,000 to N250,000 and said its not compulsory everyone goes to school.

Now they can talk when it comes to GEJ, the SS and so on.

Now this one is from a CPC ex-lawmaker/Governorship aspirant in Jigawa. A CPC chieftain:

Yet again, Tinubu, and the bigots in opposition missed it.

Northern president or no Nigeria – CPC chieftain replies Dokubo, Kuku

A chieftain of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change, Hon. Farouk Adamu Aliyu has declared that ‘it is either a Northerner as President in 2015 or there will be no more Nigeria.

Aliyu said this in an interview in Abuja as a direct response to the ex-Niger Delta militant and leader of Niger Delta Volunteer Force, Mujahid Asari Dokubo declaration on Sunday that ‘there will be no peace in the country, if Jonathan was denied a second term’.

Aliyu, who ran for the governorship of Jigawa State on the platform of the CPC, said it is unfortunate and sad that Dokubo is still walking the streets a freeman after making such unguarded statement.

He warned that “if Jonathan, Dokubo and their people want to destroy this country, then we are willing accomplices.

The ex-lawmaker who claimed to be speaking for the people of the North warned that nobody has the monopoly of violence adding that such arm-twisting tactics as was exhibited by the Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs, Kingsley Kuku in United States some days ago, will not work.

He said, “Few weeks back, Kingsley Kuku, the presidential adviser on amnesty programme in faraway America also went and made similar statements, which means President Goodluck Jonathan has already won the PDP primary election and the secondary election – that’s exactly what they are saying.

“Let me also use this opportunity to say on behalf of us in the north that nobody has monopoly of violence and that on behalf of the people of northern extraction, there shall be no one Nigeria if a northerner is not elected president of this country, because politics is a game of numbers and the Ijaw people are not up to one million or two million or even five million.

“So if in a democracy, the President will allow somebody to say if he is not voted, there won’t be peace – this clearly shows that they don’t want peace and the president is not a democrat.”

Gamji007: Can you please give a reference where Buhari said that?

Why you too de lie like garage tout? huh
For your likes, dayokano, and the other CPC/ACN bigots and hypocrytes including Tinubu, here's some information for you:

The North is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power.
Kaita, however, said he was happy that some notable Northerners, such as former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd); Atiku; former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari; former National Security Adviser (NSA), Lt-General Aliyu Gusau (rtd) and a few others are in the race to represent the interest of the North.

Alhaji Kaita. Tuesday, 05 October 2010
Moreover, when President Goodluck Jonathan confirmed that he would contest the 2011 presidential election, great opposition rose against him in the North. The first bombshell came from Shehu Sani, a Kaduna based civil rights activist who said, “President Goodluck Jonathan should not contemplate contesting the 2011 presidential election. Any attempt by him to contest amounts to incitement and a recipe for political instability. Even though rotational presidency is unconstitutional, it has been able to address problems of regional, ethnic, sectional domination and marginalization”. The warning precluding President Jonathan from contesting the 2011 presidential election did not stop with Shehu Sani as Alhaji Lawal Kaita, a close associate of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar added his voice to the agitation when he said, “The North is determined, if it happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy. Anything short of a Northerner president is tantamount to stealing our presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go. Even if he uses incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out”. With these words, the battle line between President Jonathan and his opponents was drawn.

General Muhammadu Buhari(rtd) did not hide his feelings toward President Jonathan’s presidential ambition as he said, “There may be no Nigeria. I draw parallel with Somalia so many times (Somalisation of Nigeria). I am scared about that.
The tension in the country became very high as some politicians from the North were making inciting statements. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was not spared from this bandwagon when he said, “Those who make peaceful change impossible will make violent change inevitable”. The various inciting statements were not made in vain as they were matched with actions. The threat by the Northern politicians to make the country ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan was fulfilled with the post election violence that erupted in some parts of the North which led to the death of some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bauchi State. Zonkwa area of Kaduna State was worst hit as more than 300 people were killed during the riot. Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), claimed that the presidential election was rigged.
Gen Buhari was quoted in the media as saying: “God willing by 2015, something will happen. They either conduct a free and fair election or they go a very disgraceful way.

If what (happened) in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood”.

Coming exactly a year after the 2011 general elections when his supporters killed many innocent Nigerians in the North, including some members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, mainly Christians from Southern Nigeria, this statement must rank as the most irresponsible ever made by a political leader in this country. Unfortunately, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has cleared Buhari of wrongdoing, saying it was merely a warning that the next elections should be free and fair.

Take note of the names of northern leaders including, Buhari, Kaita, Aliyu, Atiku etc just incase you decide to skip them.

Your Buhari said "There may be no Nigeria...." How come Tinubu and all you opposition goons missed that?!

As I read through again, this line struck my mind "“The North is determined, if it happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner"
This means it's not really about GEJ being incompetent. "Any other southerner" means who ever it is, as long as a Southerner is the President, the North was hell bent on causing problems for all.

Is there any difference between Asari Dokubo and CPC Chieftain and ex-lawmaker, Farouk Adamu Aliyu in the news above?
It's appalling his hypocrisy. His statements are even more treasonable than Asari Dokubo's statement.

I do not support Dokubo and he should be shished!

But for the ACN/CPC goons here, what is the difference between statements by Kaita, Atiku, Buhari and ACF warlords/terrorists above and that of Dokubo.

You are the same people that were all over the place defending these terrorists. If Dokubo's statement is treasonable (which I feel it is), is Buhari, Kaita, Atikus's and some ACF leaders statements not treasonable?

Dokubo is as much a terrorist as Buhari, Kaita, Sani, Ciroma and many more ACF terrorists! The only thing is that the Northern warlords are steps ahead. They are already MAKING NIGERIA UNGOVERNABLE!

Seun: My Fellow Nairaland Members,

Rule 17 is the most controversial rule because it sounds unfair. My fellow moderators have debated this rule at length and it could not be changed. We cannot extend the prohibition against offence to other religions because that limits your freedom of speech, and we cannot remove that rule without jeopardizing security and the safety of lives. Sorry about this.
Maybe you should have made rule 17, bold, italics, red and size 12 because it seems to me, its the main point you are trying to get to us. the others are just to shadow the intent.

I bet you, this rule does not portray Islam and Muslims in a good light, it creates more problem for them.

donchisel: I worry about the way things are playing out in the telecom industry.
This industry appear to be the number 2 invitation card to foreign investors after oils and gas sector.

Apparently, the telecom sector whose recent roles in nigerian economy played a significant impact the countries' labour/employment market, is now begining to avoid direct hiring of staff. The sector is now flooded with contract staff, much more that what we see in the Banks. Even the hired staff suffer YoY pay reductions, while the self employed (contractors, distributor, marketers, etc) suffer reduced profitability in their various businesses.

However, their justifications remain OPEX/liability reduction and Government is yet to take meaningful actions to remedy the situation. The business owners are beginning to move funds to operations in other serious countries. Do you know that there are over 12000 telecom infrastructures, consuming more than 1.2million liters of generator fuel per day? Is the OPEX on Fuel alone not more 80% of running cost?

Buttomline, Government should first do their bit by providing enabling environment before raising their heads to speak. Do you know that the same oil coys flaring gas (YoY) in this country, cannot flare a cubic meter of gas in Saudi Arabia?
God bless you!!! Well said!
