And it's more patriotic to cheer on a decaying millitary? I cringe every time i see anyone post photos of our decaying 1960 era MIG-21 fleet and starts trumpeting about our 'beautiful jets'. |
Horus:This information is freely available on Wikipedia and Jane's Defence Weekly, stop being so goddamn alarmist. |
I'm having a laugh at all these deluded people posting photos of 1960s era hardware and boasting about Nigeria's millitary capability. Such faux patriotism! Face it, the Nigerian armed forces is in urgent need of modernisation!! |
Heh. Valve was making industry leading games when Naughty Dog was still churning out Crash Bandicoot. Naughty Dog may be good, but they have nothing on Valve. They aren't even in the same ballpark! |
I'll just change my laptop finally (been using the same Sony VAIO FE21M since 2006) and upgrade to one running a legit Windows 7. Truth be told, you can score a copy of Win 7 Home Premium for $130. That's less than N20k. For someone over 23, that should be a no-brainer. PLunk some honest cash down for once and get a legit copy. |
kosovo:Almost everything is wrong with the editorial, mon ami. Can't start listing them all. Besides, can't spend too much time on Nairaland. The wife may not like me typing too much on our honeymoon. ![]() |
You Folks keep taking it up the arse with these 3g broadband providers. Data limits are the ultimate FAIL. I switched to Starcomms and routinely download 3gb in one day. As long as MTN et al have their puny data limits, they'll remain inferior to the evdo service providers. What Use is a fast Internet connection if you can't download stuff? |
kosovo:Naughty Dog is a Sony first/second party developer. They have access to ALL the resources Sony can muster. They are not distracted by other games or projects, as they've pretty much been pouring all their manpower at the Uncharted franchise. Plus, they had the Uncharted engine to improve on. Is it surprising therefore that they'd have less of a challenge getting their heads round the PS3 tech? It's not a good thing for your console to be the difficult one to program for. Period! |
Kosovo You don't seem to get it. this 'editorial' is an embarrassment to anyone, not just you. It is so patently biased, non-objective and filled with tons of rubbish and non-factual information that it really puts you to shame. it also goes to show EVERYONE that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. As a friend, i'd advise you to lie low for a while. |
For a second i thought it was a copy and paste job, until i saw from the extremely poor quality of the writeup that it was your own creation. Kosovo, stop writing editorials. From the spelling mistakes to the plethora of misleading information, this editorial is essentially worthless. Stop trolling for Sony and focus on games! Games on the PS3, Xbox 360, the Wii, the PSP, hell even on the iPhone. |
And you think the word 'alien' used in this context is complimentary? lol. It's actually more damning to have a console that's pretty difficult to program for. |
It's not 'tokunbo'. While it's not brand new, buying used millitary hardware is not so out of place. Do you have any idea how much it could cost to purchase a brand new unit? It's far more cost effective to buy well maintained used craft with good service history. bilymuse:Don't be an silly. The aircraft are being purchased from the French Government and it's almost a given that contracts for parts and equipment are already in place. Without any access to the service record of the helicopters, calling them 'flying coffins' is pretty much FUD. |
Why does she have to draw black/negroid girls to keep some people happy? Let her draw her own inspiration! |
lol @ someone demanding that licenses be given for only 2 year periods. If you owned a company and were given a license for only 2 years, would you invest heavily in the facility development for that project? |
so the Nigerian Government is finally admitting its colossal failures, eh? I dunno, it seems somewhat morally grey to force oil companies to go into crude refining. These companies are set up to make profit - they owe that to their shareholders. It should be determined that the project is actually commercially viable before making it mandatory. So what next? Force all the oil companies to provide electricity and education? |
@Cyber G I do not think many Nigerians will rejoice with glee when Yar Adua dies. I for one will not. He has not been an effective president. Doesn't make him a demon like Abacha was or even morally grey like Obasanjo is. |
In any other country in the world the federal government would be facing a lawsuit for reckless endangerment. First for situating a camp for hardened murderers and thieves close to Uniport, next for failing to secure the camp and finally for incitement of the thieves by delaying their agreed upon blood money. But this is Nigeria, and we know how cowed our people are and how lazy our lawyers can be. We prefer to 'leave everything in the hands of God' rather than taking a stand. |
I drive past slaughter on my way to work everyday. The photos do not even do the place justice. Thick clouds of black smoke from huge bonfires tower in the sky. Through the thick, billowing smoke you can see people walking around, breathing in the smoke and sooty air. I see women with babies on their backs weaving their way through the bonfires. My friends and I call it 'Goat flaring'. The surrounding water is black with debris and ash. The houses are black. The people are black and I'm willing to bet their lungs are as black as coal miners'. Ever since I moved to port harcourt in 2006, I've wondered where the 'garden city' name came from. Certainly it's not the port harcourt i see everyday. |
redsun:chief manipulator? You bloody crackhead. |
It is not Google's Job to edit their search results. They merely index and present results. All the people complaining should follow the links to the page where the photo is being hosted and then act against that site. |
Comparing the purchase of HDTVs to that of 3D Tvs is really retarded, i'm sorry to say. Do you think it was gaming that drove the HDTV market? HD broadcast, smaller form factors, lighter weights, competitive pricing and digital TV drove the HD purchase rush in countries such as the US. Home consumer response to 3D TVs is incredibly muted at the moment. There's little 3D content available and the need for special glasses is a serious dampener for sales. Unless new tech comes out, 3D TV sales will only be a fraction of that of non 3D HDTVs. The HDTV market growth in Nigeria only came about because marketers let go of their stupid assumption that only 'big men' bought HDTVs and they began to market them at affordable prices. No one is gonna go crazy over more expensive TVs that need glasses to be appreciated. |
Sounds like you kids don't really know how to use a laptop, or have little use for laptops at the moment. PS: the Droid Eris as a laptop replacement?! Don't make me laugh. That's a mid-tier android device at best, doesn't even make waves in the smartphone world. |
Onlytruth:Bullcrap! You aren't putting up images like that for 'proper honor and burial'. You lot are recycling these images as a tool, a club of guilt and hate to beat the rest of Nigeria over the head with. The most respect you can show for the dead is to honor their memories and to ensure that we never go down that path of violence and hatred. Perhaps you should be the one getting a taste of the sorrows in this case, not me. |
mikeansy:When will Soludo come out to defend his own record? I don't mean the overhyped version you his acolytes freely provide. I mean the coomplete story including his roles in the current rot in the banking sector. Also add to that his colossal miscalculation in minting coins with billions of tax payers' monies. |
jiniux:you poor misguided fellow. The Israelites sold their goods to give to the POOR! Jesus told his followers to give their things to the POOR. Paul and the other apostles used the goods and monies brought by the early christians to help the poor and the widows. Jesus Christ gave no direct command to pay tithes or sow seeds. He insisted on charity and based one of his most famous parables on helping God by Helping the POOR. Yet you deluded sheep hand over your hard earned money for church ventures that have precious little to do with charity. |
ketsho:Seriously, how old are you? 12? So you're that bereft of any intelligent argument that you resort to that childish insult? Even Becomrich never displayed this level of foolishness. |
cicero:I hate to break it to you, but you're supposed to follow JESUS!! Not your Pastor. cicero:It doesn't have to be like 'state and federal universities'. The Catholic and Methodist schools were a cut above most other schools in Nigeria in those days. And they certainly didn't charge an arm and a leg for school fees. cicero:This explains why we happily celebrate even Yahoo boys in Nigeria. Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised" Nothing there about bringing prosperity to the masses. Ah, well. Guess 'Prosperity' sells better than 'good news' to Nigerians, eh? |
Human beings are by design supposed to learn from their mistakes. The important learning from the Biafra war should be the prevention in future of any similar war, to eradicate tribal and ethnic bias and to improve relations between all the tribes and groups in this country. Let's be realistic; the chances of the Igbos seceeding again into another Biafra are pretty remote. So if that outcome is unlikely to occur, why not focus on more realistic goals like tribal integration and the promotion of amity? I've read through most of the discussion so far, and i'm not impressed with the Moderator's contributions here. The same RichyBlack that goes on and on about the evils of the Biafran war is the same Mod that has steadfastly refused to do anything about the plethora of tribalistic posts here in the Politics section. If we assume that Nairaland is a reflection of the Nigerian society at large, how can encouraging topics that increase the disunity and division between ethnic groups help preserve peace and tolerance? The Middle East crisis should show you how not to propagate hatred. The people killing each other today in Palestine and Israel were not alive during the Israeli Arab wars or the creation of Israel. They are merely acting out a script taught them by their parents who consigned them to a life of hatred. And they'll teach their kids the same things too. Similarly, dredging the memories of Biafra up to revisit the latent feelings of bitterness and rage may not be the best idea. |
Beaf:Yes, but the Northern states don't go complaining at every opportunity about the teeming number of almajiris. And of the monthly allocation to the Northern states, no penny is voted towards solving the almajiri problem. WilyWily:So it's all good for you to treat the Hausa/fulani with disdain, but when they extend the same to you it becomes oppression abi? |
i agree! what is learning french going to do? like someone else said what benefits will come from it? RUBBISH! whats next? i really dont see how knowing how to speak french is acquiring more knowledge. WOW!! you can speak another language, WOOPEE!! does that then make you smarter than the next person? does it? NO. it just means you know another language. thats like saying someone who knows yoruba and english is smarter than someone who only knows english just because they can speak two languages,
Learning another language is part of PERSONAL development. Do i really need to explain to you the added benefits from speaking another language? Especially one as popular as French? |
Whether 1cm or 5000000000000cm, GPS is GPS. Nigerians can complain, dem no get GPS before, dem complain, dem gettam now, na 1cm accuracy be their problem. I am sure that if we get this 6000 MW constant electricity that is coming by december, another Nigerian will ask why we don't have 25000 megawatts.
GPS has never been my 'problem'. I merely made a comment on a false statement attributed to the fellow. Did you see me complain about the actual project itself? |
All the man has done is to recommend that Nigerians learn french as a second language? considering the occassion and venue for that speech, there's absolutely nothing wrong in what he said. learning a new language is a personal decision and a personal choice. I wonder why someone is bringing up the fact that our primary education is in a shambles. How does that make a difference in this case? Perhaps you may wish to bring up these same objections when your Pastor asks you to read the Bible. |
