PoliticsRe: 'The Transition Hours': Jonathan Accuses Obama Of Interfering In Nigeria’s 2015 by theoldpretender(m): 2:00pm On Nov 20, 2018
Erm, the problem with this Jonathan theory that 'Obama cost him the election' is that it assumes that Nigerians are so dull that all it takes is an American president, most of whom they may not understand,or whose video they did not see ....somehow influenced an election in his opponet's favour....

Look, PDP lost because 1) Boko was still very noisy 2) Chibok girls had not been rescued...and PDP was blaming Buhari and APC for the fiasco.3) Tribalism and religion....yes,let us not lie about that 4) Fuel scarcity 5. )Power supply had actually gotten worse 6) Some people were still angry about the rise in fuel price from n65 to N97 (Later N87)....7) PDP had a lot of divisions in its local branches, especially in the VERY VERY VITAL MIDDLE BELT 8. Governors like Suswam of Benue and Jang of Plateau were not doing well at all 9) Middle Belt fulani crisis 10) A lot of bigwigs, including Obasanjo had been alienated.

And it is Obama ,who the Muslim North does not like, whom most Nigerians by the way, including die hard GEJ opponents do not like because of his gay friendly anteccedents....that will influence Nigerians...to do what?

You know ,this remids me of the same American democrats who are busy blaming Russia for Trump...while ignoring the fire on the mountain that was in their backyard...and that had nothing to do with Russia...even now that they have lost, they still blame Russia. Russia that most Americans hate?

Sorry GEJ....but after 16 years of PDP mismanagement....Nigerians were ready for a change (And yes, what a disappointing change it has been). But look....Nigerians are not mindless drones. They are people who can think on their own. They did not vote you out because of Obama. Obama that many of them don't even know how he sounds. The same Obama whose name was mud by 2013 after he went to Senegal and told them to legalise gay marriage...and their President answered him.

If PDP is not ready to blame itself...then Nigeria is in for it when they win next year.

PoliticsRe: “Jonathan Had No Shoes, You Sold Firewood’ – Nigerians React To Atiku Plan by theoldpretender(m): 10:00am On Nov 20, 2018
Good thing about Atiku plan.....SELLL NNPC.

Yes,sell NNPC.Remove that fuel subsidy thing into the bargain as well.

Yes, fuelprices will shoot up....yes we will pay N300 for fuel....yes there will be teething difficultes....but within 5 years....there would be lots of new investments and new jobs.

Infact....APC or PDP....sell NNPC,remove fuel subsidy.....watch the oil industry grow.

nifty60:
No you are not being realistic but u have been fooled. For a nation like Nigeria to be arguing over a minimum wage below $100 is pathetic. If one politician could be looting billions of naira tell me why our civil servants shouldn't be on a minimum wage of #100,000.
As I said...we are not earning enough money...that's why the looting is very very painful...because it is like thieves are stealing from a man with just N200 in his wallet.

(And when many of those Nigerians either back the self same looters....or back polices that encourage looting like the subsidy thing....it is difficult to fight looting).

Thing we need to do....remove fuel subsidy to encourage investment in oil and gas sector, which means more jobs. Redierect subsidy savings to power and transport...which attracts more investors. Liberalise the power sector...which attracts more investment and jobs.....and within 20 years we will be able to afford a minimum wage of N100000.

nifty60:
You are a serious hindrance to the growth of this nation
No ,just being realistic.

At the moment, we need oil to be at $140 per barrel to get a budget that we can balance well well.

And since we are not there, plus we are paying the debt from the loans we have had to take due to previous drops in the oil price....I doubt we can pay increased salaries....EVEN if we (And by the way,I think that governors and senators should have their salaries cut)...cut the salaries of the elite.

You want arich and prosperous economy.....then make it easier for investment to occur in your country...so that the heavy tax bill pays for salary increases. And get off oil.

Note that the $100 is the lowest amount of money that can be paid to a civil servant at the lowest rung of the service....it isn't the amount that most civil servants earn....most earn much higher (though still meagre) than that.

Yes, Mr Governor should cut his salaries....but it won't be enough.
PoliticsRe: ₦30,000 Minimum Wage: Buhari, Governors’ Meeting Ends In Deadlock by theoldpretender(m): 8:43am On Nov 20, 2018
The elephant in the room is the bloated civil service.

The thing is, the civil service in most states is full to the brim. Far too many staff. And an increase in salaries (note that they are not paying everyone N33000....N33000 is the minimum wage a worker on the lowest rung of the service can be paid.....)...would make it difficlt for most states to survive finaicially......EVEN if governors cut their fat salaries.

The Federal govt taxes them heavily at the centre and share the revenue with the states but yet the states want to illegally double tax them at state level which only increases the cost of doing business . We must reject criminal double taxation
Sadly, if you want the states to be financially viable, taxes and taxation is a short and long term instrument of survival.

This people want us to spend close to 1.5 trillion more on civil servants?

That's close to 3.5 trillion every year... That's almost 70% of our revenue if not more
Universites are expensive.

As it is now...either government spends at least 1.5trillion or more on just universites....OR ......we raise fees.

Nigerians would STRONGLY PROTEST if fees go up. So...allocations need to be raised.

The problem is...where the money willcome from. Even if we cut the salaries of the Senators and Reps...at best we would get N500million.
PoliticsRe: NLC, NANS Protest In Abuja (Pictures) by theoldpretender(m): 1:07pm On Nov 19, 2018
Wellour budget is N9trillion next year.

If ASUU and NLC want to get the 'adequate funding' from the original 2009 Agreement...that means government will spend N1.5trillion over the next one year....just on universities.

Good luck.

. if PDP sold the DISCOs to their cronies, then it's APC duty to revoke that and give it to competent people. rather what do we get, hike in tariff, without any commensurate power supply. honestly APC is q heartless party. good for nothing being ran by good for nothing leaders.
1. APC cannot revoke thelicences of the DISCOS and GENCOS. If they did that...the companies/revokees...willgo to court and extract every last ounce of cash from government in compensation and loss of tariff.

2.If we want comensurate power supply,we have to pay for commensuratepower supply.

It costs me N6000 to power a small flat. Abroad...it would cost N20000 or more. There is a reason why Ghana has 24/7 power supply and we dont...they pay higher.
PoliticsRe: Discos Are Sabotaging Fg’s Efforts - MURIC by theoldpretender(m): 11:34am On Nov 19, 2018
DISCO ISSUES

1.They are forced to charge for power at the GOVERNMENT PRICE....not at theirprice.

2.Then there are the Nigerians who don't pay their bills and who bypass the meters.

3. Then there is the mess that is transmission....which prevents them from carrying load supplied.

If we want a solution....we have to accept that power is not cheap. Not accepting that is why we are not getting sufficent power. We want to pay N10 for N10000 service.

You can call me a DISCO staff, you can call me names....but until we allow DISCOS to raise prices for power.....the issues we face will still be there.

PoliticsRe: Buhari, Sultan, Sanusi Speak On Nigeria’s Unity by theoldpretender(m): 9:08am On Nov 19, 2018
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, in a keynote address entitled “Muslim Voice on Good Governance”, said the topic was timely considering the challenges facing the country.

He said that Islam and Muslim political heritage had profound principles, norms and practices for good governance, saying such predated modern democracy which was about 200 years.

“Muslims should be at the fore front in advocating and leading with examples in good governance.

“This has become necessary because our political culture has deteriorated and increasingly mercantile, where money is everything.

“This is responsible for bad governance that has characterised the polity, subverted development, perpetrated poverty as well as elicited the unending social conflicts.”

Sanusi said money-based politics would continue to fuel unprecedented corruption seen in the society today, saying pristine values as a people had been supplanted and the future thrown into jeopardy.

He urged all political, spiritual and traditional leaders to join hands in salvaging the polity from the danger posed by the current political culture.

According to him, “we have to take leadership seriously and cannot ignore centuries old wisdom which places high premium on leadership and criteria for shouldering responsibilities.

“The consequences of ignoring the standards are already showing and we must not wait until the bubble bursts. We cannot allow full reins to money politics and expect the eradication of corruption.
A lot of wisdom here....yet Nigerian politicans, if exeprience is anything to go by, never hear.

Since the First Republic...it has always been looting, sharing of the money, and more looting.

1.That is because we don't have enough pathologists.

2.Most Nigerians just want to bury their dead as soon as possible. Since a full autopsy , tests inclusive, can take weeks....some people don't want to wait that long.

3.Maybe we could make it a law...do autopsy mandatory.Problem is...most people would complain 'no be by force'

I write this with tears in my heart.... and almost a confused mind.

I recently met woman back in August this year who is also in my line of work, oil and gas......she is a Nigerian/Canadian as I learnt just last night, mixed root.

at first I was captivated by her stunning beauty/drive for excellence.....before I knew it we both had clicked .....understanding each other very well.

she is a Sagittarius and am a leo......meaning we both in some ways shares same thing in common 'workaholics/honest/generous'

I was helplessly in love with her....

NOTE: SHE RESIDES IN ABUJA WITH HER PARENTS WHILE AS AT WHEN WE MET ONLINE I WAS IN LUXEMBOURG HOLIDAYING.....CAME IN RECENTLY AND HAD SCHEDULED OUR FIRST MEETING COME 23RD NOV BEING HER BIRTHDAY.

Having shared her odeal with men and how she was abused by her last fiance for years and her resolve never to date again.......upon my recommendation she began taking classes that would help her mindset on men as she hates men atleast i suspected.

now we both are deeply in love..... HOWEVER LAST NIGHT WHILE ON PHONE I SHARED MY AGE WITH HER (34) AND GOT THE SHOCKER OF MY LIFE WHEN I HEARD HER SAY SHE IS (45)!!!!

I COULDNT BELIEVE MY EARS COS SHE LOOKED WAY YOUNGER THAN THAT AGE ..........

AM CONFUSED.....

I know hence I love her am meant to overlook her age and etc.....but this lady is authoritative and rude though I cautions her from time to time , bug then I fear if I proceed with this I might be her puppy above all am just confused.

PLEASE I NEED SEASONED ADVICE FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN IN SAME POSITIONS.

WHAT ARE THE CONS AND PROS IN THIS SITUATION!

AM 35 ....SHE IS 45!!!
OK....ask yourself these questions

1.Do you want children?

Because at 45, she could be having the onset of menopause....which could make it difficult to have kids.

Also, assuming she gets pregnant...pregnancy at this age can be risky.

Plus, menopause has a lot of issues....can you handle them? EG....emotional issues.

2. Do you want to be in charge of your house?

Because, she is older than you, more experienced, seen life....she might not be willing to 'take orders' from a kid.
