I'll make an exception and comment on this thread.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the original poster and the moniker Raayah in their statements about Nigerian education being sub-par and foreign graduates being better than Nigerian.

I am leading an international team of engineers and specialists on a multi million dollar project with a multinational company and I was recruited from Nigeria. It has been a right royal mess with the resources, many European, many from the Middle East, some from some sub Saharan countries. In many instances, I rely on Nigerian resources, problem only being work permits for them which can be tedious.

The biggest problem I have on the project of course, is my resource planning and the CVs I receive from recruitment companies are in many cases as bad as you can imagine.

I only had my Unilag education and Nigerian experience on my CV, same with my Nigerian resources.

To the unemployed; keep reading, know a little about everything, improve your written and spoken English and add value to yourselves.

You are only as good as you choose to be.
Hello sir, I'm an instrument engineer, pls I'll be grateful if you can take out time to do a review/critique of my Cv.

therealMCcain,

Since 2013, have you been able to save something?
Well I won't lie to you, i actually sat up mid 2014.

there is a line on my earlier post that's misleading, where I said after paying for the land, I set aside an amount for my SDRA account

What I was actually trying to say was after making deductions for the land, I put aside something also in my SDRA

to answer your question, I haven't saved cos everything is being poured into the land acquisition, the cost is 2M & I still have some months to go cry

I had to cancel the SDRA & channel everything to the acquisition

Compliments of the season to the house

It's 2015, just want to say few things I have learnt since I opened this this thread

1. I found out its a lot easier to save when you have a project at hand, I'm currently paying for a piece of land

Once salary hits my account, I transfer a particular amount for the land project, it's kinda of easy cos I know I have no option than to pay & also there is this urge for me to pay it off completely, so I don't entertain no excuses

2. I have cut back on my recharge expenses, got a better voice plan & also reduced my calls to folks, particularly those that don't reciprocate

3.I have found out that when you don't have funds in ur account, you can't give out money
Neither will you be under pressure to do so

So no matter the emergency, there is nothing you can do

I said the above because, when you have funds somewhere & someone comes to ask for funds, you might be tempted or pressurized to go take from that place, but when there is none to take from

Your ability to say NO becomes easy

So after paying for my land, the next money that leaves my account goes to a savings account(SRDA-savings recurrent deposit acc) with sterling bank, I fixed it for a year, you can pay in buy cant withdraw till maturity

So I want to thank all that gave me counsel. Gracias (bellong degurl greatgod2012 vivianc Ab025 )

More counsel is highly welcome

Candour: Also I wish to ask you. If God didn't grant His request, what could he have done? Who determined the extra 15 years? God or Hezekiah?
If God didn't grant his request he would have gone ahead to put his house in order as he was previously instructed

God determined the 15yrs

What did David do after his son died despite the fasting?

Anyone that disputes the sovereignty of God or takes God for a on & off switch is deluded

I hear people in their prayer, commanding God & I shudder at that

so I strongly know & believe that at the end of the day, Gods sovereignty rules

Firstly I think we all have to settle with what Paul said about us knowing in parts
1cor13:9

you said the following in response to mbaemeka post

In life or death, God takes glory every time. Whenever he says its time, no mortal can argue, not even you.
I beg to differ, hezekieh did & got an extension

isiah 38:1-5
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,
3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,
5 Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years

Elijah was hungry asked her to make a little cake out of what she had and make the rest for herself and her son unlike the crooks of today who like the rulers of the temple in the time of Jesus have no conscience and would have taken everything the poor woman had even when they don't need it.
Looking at it from a physical view with no spiritual undertone, it was wicked for Elijah to have made such request.

1kings17:12
12 And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.

Here was a woman who said she didn't have enough food, she even said she & her son will eat it and die, meaning she didn't have anything to eat after that meal

But the prophet still requested for a piece of that meal, that wasn't enough. Pls isn't that selfishness & wickedness(coming from a physical stand point)

If this were to happen in present day, all the media will go agog & give that pastor unprintable names

But there was a spiritual undertone to it & thank God the woman act accordingly(she had physical reason not to obey)

So based on this story, who was supposed to give to who

The prophet to the woman or the woman to the prophet??

Of course the high priest Paul insulted had as much authority as the governor of your state and you wouldn't insult him if you're before him. There was nothing spiritual about him, the position of high priest had been politicised long before Paul met him.
Acts 23:1-4
1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
4 And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

Paul apologized because it was written & not becos of any politics!!!

Sincerely speaking u guys are confusing me!!

Question 1:How then can a Christian act on those verses?? It's usage & application

I wasn't there when the bible was written, after careful study I find that all those who gave to the poor, gave to the prophets got blessed or received supernatural interventions

Based on these cases, I then decide to be a giver because I found out that all those that gave got blessed, are u saying God almighty will frown upon this

I know In Christianity there is always a more excellent way, so u can tell me that the more excellent way is to give out of love but to tell me that the man who decides to act on these scriptures is doing wrong or it's not going to work for him, is something I'm finding difficult to come to terms with

Note: i also know in the bible, There were cases of those who got supernatural intervention without giving

Question2: Act 10 talked about Cornelius, whose prayers & alms went up to God

I'm yet to see a very rich unbeliever who doesn't give to the poor & needy, you think it's becos of agape love? It's becos they have found out that there is something about giving

Even occultist gives, why do they give?

So what can a Christian glean from the above?

Matt25:40-45
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me

Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse

Proverbs 22:22
22 Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them

Proverbs21:13
13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard

Psalms 41:1-4
1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness

my question is: the Christian who decides to act on the above scriptures not becos of Gods love but becos he doesn't want the bad things spoken in them to happen to him, will he get the promises/blessings attached to this scriptures

Note:
1.no other conditions were attached, so if you do this, you get this or this will happen
2.the proverbs & psalms scriptures covers both believers & unbelievers

pls I know the motive for a Christian to give ought to be out of love & nothing else but should a Christian give based on the promises/outcome of the above scriptures, will he/she get what was promised??
Christianity EtcRe: Word Of Faith - The Movement's Doctrine And Proponents by therealMcCain:
I think I'll go with McPhee's response but let me add

Number13:31-33
31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight

I believe it was called an evil report because it was contrary to what God had said?

how is it different from a Christian who speaks contrary to what God has said? Are there no consequences?

Job22:22-30
23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
24 Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
25 Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
26 For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27 Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee:and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say,There is lifting up
and he shall save the humble person.
30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands

Vs 29, when men are cast down, pls why should I say there is lifting up? Shouldn't I join them?

vs28 do u believe that can apply to a Christian?

Do u believe the Christian has power?
Do u believe the Christian words can be backed with power?

if yes, why then is it difficult to also believe that the Christian that speaks negatively will also get the results of those words

If no, I rest my case

Hebrew6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

A sword is used to cut, how do I use the word which is the sword to cut?

If I then speak contrary to the word which is the sword, are u of the opinion that there will be no consequences?

nuwell: I wonder, what kind of Christian that would be. Such misguided comments could be excused on the grounds of such and one's ignorance of Scripture that reveals what God's will is for the believer because such utterances have no biblical support. If God's opinion of the believer as revealed in His word, is the standard for such a person's life, he/she will not find a basis to think otherwise.
If indeed such a person has been truly spending time in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, such an attitude cannot continue for long because his/her entire perspective of life - conversation and all, will be progressively transformed by the renewing of their minds, to prove (discover, understand and experience) what God's good, perfect and acceptable will, is for them. The image of Christ to which God is conforming us does not tolerate or contain such an outlook.
ur epistle above addresses an ideal situation but in reality its isnt really so or at least most Christians hasnt gotten to this level
the christian who spends time in fellowship with the holy spirit as you have rightly pointed will not do a lot of things but is that whats obtainable today?

there christian that are negatively programmed they never see the good in anything maybe cos of their upbringing or experiences, as such their words are always wrong(i'm not talking about swear words)

PLEASE NOTE: my question IS NOT asking whether a christian can say such words or whether its possible for the bornagain christian to use such words or whether its a christain nature to use such words(because your epistle and drummaboy's answer seems to point to this)

my question is the christian who constantly uses such words(there are lots of other variants) what will be the consequences/effects of such words in his/her life?

just to buttress my point we all know the christian is not supposed to commit adultery, so if asked what will happen if a married christian impregnates another lady? you dont answer by saying "that man is not a christian or a christian cant do such etc" you go ahead to state what will happen or how the church will handle such case

proverbs 6:2

Proverbs15:4
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit

Proverbs18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:7

James3:4-5
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

James 1:26
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

1peter3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

DrummaBoy: Permit me to answer only number 1. Number 3 has been touched on in my last post. I do not have the luxury of time to reach number 2 and I think some of my friends have either worked on that or will do it in latter posts.

Concerning Negative Confession.

Again I don't have a bible software again on this phone (in fact anyone with a workable software on scripture for android phones should help a brother out with s link. ejo!) so I cannot post scriptures but I will paraphrase or refer you to chapters.

The born again Christian is a new creature. One of the first miracle of a saved man is a sanctified tongue. I know this bc it happened to me. Before I became a Christian I was a gangster rapper. I knew every word of Snoop's "Doggy Style" album verbatim. The result was that I could paint a room blue with expletives. When Jesus came he removed all the f and b and m words. It surprises me till date. I consider it a miracle and a blessing.

The sanctified tongue is the character and duty of the Christian. So Paul says let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth. Etc.

The next blessing that comes with being born again is a sanctified mindset. From the abundance of the heart the mouth speak. The work of the Spirit in us produces faith, trust, rest, hope, love, optimism, truth, etc. These things appear in our words. So when you see the Proverbs says the power of life and death lies in the tongue, those scriptures are not giving us formulas. They are telling us the outcome of the sanctified life and the depraved one. The scriptures are not saying talk like this so you may have these results; they are saying the results you see have a root course.

Those scriptures also further enjoins the Christian on what sanctified speaking should entail. So rather than deploying them as a means to an end, we use them as yardstick towards greater sanctification.

The trouble with WOF is their turning God and his word to a genie. Say the right words; do the right things; and you will get results. Scripture does not teach this.

Some of the greatest men of faith said the most "unfaith" words in scripture.

The three Hebrew children said even if God did not save them they would not bow.

Jesus called a king a fox. He used the word WOE often. He spoke of his crucifixion - a very negative thing.

Paul called a pastor white washed sepulcher. He spoke of false prophets and used the most derogatory terms, like dogs, to describe them. He spoke often of sick companions.

Peter and Paul prophesied their deaths; and so on.

So all these "you must speak like this to get this result" is not the gospel. If however we are told that sanctification should produce right speaking, then we are saying a different thing. The first case seeks an end for self - idolatary; the second case seeks God's glory.
Nice write up here, but u seem to be talking about the transformation that takes place after conversion

James likened the tongue to the rudder of a ship & further states that the rudder controls the ship, does that not mean that the tongue can also determine the course of one's life

What happens to the Christian who constantly speak fear & death, are u saying there are no consequences

Romans 10:9-10
For with the heart man believes unto righteousness & with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

if salvations start with believing in ones heart
About Jesus & speaking it forth, what then of a man who speak negative words(I'm not talking of swear words)

I am of the opinion that a Christian who makes negative confessions will reap its fruits

Imagine someone who always says the following

1. I'm no good
2. I'll never amount to anything
3. I'm barren
4. I'll never succeed in this business

Will this person be productive?

kofsy: I'm happy you've moved on. When I say some men are callous, this Is one of the reasons. I think he intentionally let you see that list just for him to get into your pants. You were probably his side chick. All those period, he already had a serious relationship with the lady he eventually married. Think less about it. I know how it feels. God will give you the bone of your bone and flesh of your flesh.
Do u think at the very beginning if she had introduced him to her pastor, the guy would have done what he did?

if u tell a guy that before you agree to date him or marry him, that he has to see your pastor, he will think properly before agreeing, if his intentions aren't genuine, he will flee

most relationships starts out without any supervisory figure, hence the messy way they end

eg I told my mum that I was going to bring the lady I intend getting married to, she came and I introduced her to my mum

I also told my mum to look at her closely & tell me what her opinion is, now that we haven't gone far, she told me she was ok with her and that I should keep studying her

we are from different churches, I also introduced her to my pastor, my pastor said the same thing with my mum!!

Now do u think u I can easily bring another girl home, (mind u, am the responsible type, this is my first relationship) or play around another sister in church when my pastor already knows I'm in a relationship!!

If either of them had objected to her, I would have gone to pray more & checked
my convictions and get back to them.

Sometimes when parents or pastors says no, u don't just quit, u pray & check ur convictions, imagine a guy telling a
Pastor he want to marry a sister with no convictions, what do u think the answer wil be?

so it pays to stay in one place & submit urself to the authority there rather than jumping from one pillar to post
FamilyRe: Must You See A Pastor Before Choosing A Life Partner? by therealMcCain: 7:40am On Dec 02, 2013
angiemartinez: I had the opportunity of chatting with a friend yesterday and i asked about her fiance, she told me of how all the churches she visited and all the pastors
she met told her he is not her husband, That she will not enjoy the marriage. so now she is tryn to quit the relationship. what ever happens to seeking the face of God yourself? I am of the opinion that there is no man made for any woman going by what the bible says that 'HE WHO FINDS'.
The bolded part is her problem, why so many churches & pastors?

Stay in one place & grow, Christianity is not magic. The people of the world take names & pictures to native doctors to look into the future of intending couples, there u hear things like the man's star is not bright, the lady is not meant for the man, the man will die before the lady etc

sometimes, infact most times they are accurate, but the bible forbids us Christians to indulge in such acts, so people carry this same mentality into church trying to know what the future holds, they start running from pillar to post

the guy or lady will spread their picture around, Aunty pls show ur pastor, uncle pls show ur pastor, a friend will tell u there is one pastor somewhere that sees bla bla, there is no way u won't get conflicting report

Please BEFORE you start a relationship, involve YOUR PASTOR,

if a guy has no intention of marrying you he won't agree to see ur pastor, that will save u from someone leading u on

if a guy follows u to see your pastor, he will think twice before jilting you, it won't be that easy to do

We have had cases where a guy proposed to 3 sisters in the same church & told them respectively not to tell anybody & that it should be a secret between them.

I state it again, involving ur pastor at the onset will save u a lot of stress.

As a Christian, why go into a relationship with someone who has no pastor he is accountable tohuh (As a Christian o)

I won't advise anybody to start a relationship with someone who consults folks to pray for them or runs from one pastor to the other, if he does that from the onset, so shall it be till the end

Too many hands spoil the soup, too many my mothers pastor, my pastor friend, one anointed powerful pastor in one matter can ruins someone's life

bellong: The guy is impotent, he hasn't told the lady he is engaged to, the pastor is aware and believing God for a miracle? What example and foundation is your pastor laying? I will say their silence is criminal and ungodly.

The lady has the the right to know about his impotent status without even wasting time praying. It is another case entirely if the lady decides to be believing God with him.

Your pastor is helping the guy lay a false foundation of deception and insincerity. He is a christian and should act as one, sincerity and truth are essential part of christian living..
pls relate what u wrote with the topic at hand, if the lady decides to stick with what most folks are saying abt not informing ones pastor, how then will she know??

Aren't u getting it, the pastor knows a lot about his/her members, & when brought into the picture on time, he/she can save u a lot of heartache

the guy is impotent & the sister is not aware but pastor is, they both plan their marriage without informing pastor(as most people are saying here) how will the pastor now advice them??

Some folks print their wedding card before informing pastor of their wedding while others will do traditional first before involving the church?? So if there was a hidden issue how will the pastor intercede.

haven't u heard of cases where the guy was treating STD & the bride was not aware & he suddenly says he want a to marry?? If the pastor was not involved, how can he counsel them??

Pls I'm against taking pictures to a pastor or giving names to a pastor, you'll be playing with fire, that's why I said stay in one place and grow!!

we have had cases where the either spouse had a child or was previously married or currently married but in another state or vicinity, their plan was to hide it from their spouse, if the wedding plans was hid from the pastor, how then can they be of help??

So involving them is for your good, YOUR PASTOR, not prayer house or pastor friend or Pentecostal native doctors!! (o yeah they exist)

Please for those of you saying there is no need to see your pastor.

pls hasn't there been a time you prayed and you thought you heard from God & you were so positive that you heard from him & later found out you were wrong??

but a simple counsel from someone else will sometimes confirm that or debunk what u thought u heard, especially when u discovers that what u heard was in direct contradiction with the written word.

Please study the book of proverbs, you'll understand the place of counsel

I'm a leader in church and I know the burden people share with us, imagine the following scenario

1. The guy is impotent and he hasn't told the lady in qxn, and the pastor is aware & maybe they are believing God for a miracle (pastor + the guy)

imagine the lady getting married without informing the pastor!!

my point there are certain things we can't handle & the pastor might be aware that the intending partner has that trait, hence the importance of bringing them into the picture.

Sometimes a pastor is working on someone, eg maybe the person has Un controllable anger or the lady is loose or something, and they are still on the process only for the guy to say I want to marry, do u think any pastor will approve knowing fully well that the guy has un dealt anger issues??

Finally, we are Christians we believe in demons, u might not have the spiritual foresight to see What's up against ur intending partner, a pastor can be of great help here. Notice i said MIGHT NOT

finally, balance is the key word, don't idolize ur pastor, if u haven't heard God in other areas of ur life, u won't suddenly hear him when it comes to marriage, don't run from one church to another, stay in the right place and grow there & consult ur pastor before printing card etc give them enough time to look into the matter

You mustn't see A pastor before you choose but you MUST see YOUR PASTOR!!

The church is like an hospital, some are responding to treatment while others aren't, the best way to find out is from the doctor(pastor in this case)

in Eph4:11-12, God gave the reasons for the the various offices, the basic one being for the perfecting of the saint. The question is couldn't God do it himself or thru the holy spirit??

please I'm fully aware that God speaks to us, depending on ur level of fellowship with him, my opening lines does not negate this fact.

people get messed up when they want to know what the future holds, so they start running from pillar to post, u'll begin to hear "my pastor friend, my mothers prophet, there is one powerful man of God etc"

You are suppose to stay put in one place and grow there, instructions God couldn't pass to you either becos of ur hardened heart or your spirit being too noisy or u not listening at all will be passed across to u thru your leaders

atikuman: A cool way to have your money back is by building hostels for student in abeoukuta. I finished from mapoly and knew hostels were not enough not to even talk abt good hostels with toilets and bathrooms. You can count the hostels that's has got good facilities... Most students would pay abt 120k for self cont per year to have a good hotels ...with 5m...u would be able to build a 120 self cont hostel and theres a way u do that two students can't share one bathroom, toilet and kitchen. I did marketing while I was there...the city is mainly for students. Lands are cheap for now...have got a lot of friends in building dep in ogun ministry...so there won't be issue of land and a great lawyer as well...labour is also cheaper than lagos...so here is my no 08028724029...gbuk072001@yahoo.co.uk
I believe what you mean is that the guy can build a hostel that students will pay 120k rent. Because 120 rooms hostel will gulp way more than 5m
