She didn't deflect your swimming suggestion (which is not even a classy first-date or "meet-and greet" idea). After you suggested swimming, you then proceeded to tell her, "everywhere is expensive lately" and it was after this statement that she suggested an eatery, perhaps because she thought it wouldn't be as expensive as going swimming and you would be able to afford that, only for you to then ask her who is paying. You're obviously the broke person trying to deflect to make it look like she is when she's trying to be as understandable as possible. If you know you've no money to meet her wherever for the date/meet-and-greet or whatever you call it, why did you ask her out? You're the one who initiated the outing via the swimming suggestion, so technically you should be able to afford it. She suggested what she thought was an affordable alternative and you're asking who will pay. You should've just straightup said you're broke instead of stressing and confusing the girl.

She has given him and raised 4-kids, and now that they're empty nesters, the husband should compromise and allow her to pursue her dream. It's not as if he she needs his permission or he has any right to stop her. She should look for a job in that field and when she finds it, should start working. The husband will cope. It's evil of him to expect her to eventually leave this world without pursuing her dream. That is not a good husband. If he decides to stop her, she should take him to court and sue, or better yet, they should go their separate ways.
