I might be myopic in my thinking, buy my own opinion is that successive Nigerian leadership have been to lazy. They have always been looking for the easiest route to generate income for national development. If we have had a diversified economy where oil alone is not the big money earner for the country, they would not come out now to say that it is only when subsidy on oil is removed that they can have enough money for infrastructural development. All points towards the fact that the Jonathan administration is just as lazy as its predecessors. I am of the opinion that this latest policy is ploy to have more money at their disposal to fund their extravagance and some little left to do their white elephant projects and some little little ill-conceived project. How else do you want to describe the report that the office of the vice presidency requires more than =N=40,000,000.00 to buy newspapers alone this year? Or the report that the presidency alone needs about =N=1 billion to feed this year? If you multiply those figures by the hierarchy of the ruling class, what do you have? And we are trying to save to have some meaningful development in place! cc: beaf, kal marx and other apologists |
Many thanks to Nairalanders here who have been on the side of reason with the public opinion over this fuel subsidy removal. I have few questions to ask proponents of this new policy (Karl Max,Starbaby,Beaf etc) and i think if they are sincere to themselves they will see reason as to why the policy is ill-timed,impoverishing,draconian. my questions goes thus 1. Can Nigerians and should Nigerians trust the ruling class to deliver the goods with excess money saved from the removal? I am saying this because i cannot see What frame works have been put in place to achieve this.Is it the same ruling class that will be saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that these monies are judiciously spent? Or are they bringing in some other honest Nigerians and laying off the present structure(very corrupt)? Are we to trust them NOW is the time that has been deemed fit to start fixing roads, light, water, healthcare, etc etc. Okay, can the government please come up with how they want to share the monies, the number of projects to be started, the amount of money that it would cost, the time frame from commencement to completion of the projects on a state by state basis. Men, the government cannot just come up with removal without justifying it in the most credible and transparent manner.Previous governments have taken Nigerians for a ride over the years and it is still same structure that produced the incumbent administration which makes it quite hard to believe that they indeed posses the magic wand to fix the nation if given access to more money than they used to have. 2. Is it not draconian if the leadership have not taken steps to plug all the loop holes within their set up, like cutting costs in terms of overheads (fat salaries, emoluments), shedding the gargantuan workforce consisting of Special Assistants,Personal assistants, ministers, commissioners and all what have you.I believe it is draconian if you are cutting benefits due the citizens to fund extravagant lifestyles. 3. Are there other subsidies being enjoyed in Nigeria? If there is what are they or what is it? Or is it out of place to enjoy one form of benefit in the country we all own?The countries we are trying to follow their economic agenda sure have one form of benefit or the other. 4. In view of the above, what hope for the common man? Or is the common man not part of Nigeria again? Why should the poor (constituting more than 50% of the populace) suffer in order for the leadership to have more money at their disposal (if what they told us is anything to go by). |

^^^^ Maybe Charing Cross station or London King Cross. Never heard of any Cross station before |
I want to ask : Does God hate Nigeria? We pray ceaselessly in churches and mosques, we give tithes to pastors heavily, we offer in churches heavily, we do not touch God's annointed (pastors and imams), we bless the 'men of God' without holding back, we obey the 10 commandments more than any other nations in the world, we have more churches than any other country in the world.Yet there is no light,no road,no water,no sound education sector, low life expectancy due to appalling healthcare system, rising insecurity of lives and properties (boko haram,MEND,armed robbery) and there is no end in sight to all these anomalies Does God like western countries? They have since turned all churches into pubs (beer parlours), they do not give tithes to pastors, they do not go to church,so there is no way they would give offerings, they do not obey most of the 10 commandments. Yet these countries have light, water, roads, good shelter, good health, sound education and all the basic things of life and there is still the vision to keep improving on all they have. My deductions from the above is that God does not ''make" a people based on their reverence of the so called men of God nor the number of tithes and offerings we give to our pastors. God simply 'makes' a nation based on the hardwork, vision and mission of the people. I see no reason why Nigerians have to take religion as the lifeline or panacea or solution to our present challenges. We should ask ourselves why the Western nations are forging ahead without religion and we are lagging behind. They brought the religion to us in the first place and must have reasons for abandoning it. Would all these so called christians in Nigeria beleive that the Westerners give out more money than we even do? they donate billions (Pounds,Euros,Dollars) to charity every year and i think this is part of what God looks at rather than thinking that it is only when we 'donate' to our religious houses (Churches, mosques) that God would bless us.No amount of offering, tithes and defence of our 'men of God' will make our country of what we all dream of.The way we think in NIgeria takes us back, am sorry to say. |
It will die a natural death and the pastor will even say it to your face that given the same scenario,he would do worse. The yorubas have a saying and it goes thus "Ilu ti ko ni ofin, kosi ese" i.e where there is no rule of law, there is no crime. But i sincerely pray that right before my eyes, there will emerge a new Nigeria, where people will be responsible for their actions and inaction, where the law of the land will be sacrosant and gullibility, a la christianity as practised right now, will be down to its barest minimum.Where stealing of =N=1.00 that belongs to the public will mean imprisonment and ineptitude in public office will attract sack. I pray for a new Nigeria.Lets all work towards it so that it will be realisable |
It is not a new phenomenon to see how people get brainwashed by a certain personality. It has been happening from time immemorial. But in my few years on earth,i have been able to witness that of Jesu Oyingbo and his followers.I have seen Olumba Olumba Obu and his followers.I have seen Sat Guru Mahraj ji and his followers. These principals are highly gifted, they know how to bamboozle a multitude and i dare say that most of these so-called pentecostal pastors are same. They feed fat on the ignorance of their subjects. It does not matter if these subjects are professors or other learned fellows, they are just the type that never see beyond what they are told.I am not in any way surprised that some people still do not see any wrong in the action of Oyedepo and are even ready to 'go up in arms' for him. It all bothers down to their mindset. Another reason for this is the state of the nation. I can bet it with anyone that if the government of the day or the ones we have had in times past have made it their responsibility to provide good food,24 hour light, shelter, potable water, good road network, sound education, appreciable security of lives and properties, good medical care and social welfare for its citizens and teeming unemployed population, then people wont have to see the church/mosque or the man of God as their only hope. This will will eradicate the mentality that there is someone somewhere who possess evil spirit behind your inability to own a house,a car and other basic luxuries hence the drastic fall in the number of church goers as these are some of the reasons why people flood the church- It is the last hope of the common man. Do people even ask themselves why the Europeans that brought Christianity to us are not as religious as we are or worship their pastors like we do? It is because all what they basically need are provided by their government and it will be kind of silly or strange to go to church and pray for these things we pray for.All i am saying here is that if the present generation witnesses a new Nigeria, you will see that many churches will close down, just as it is in Europe and America. Until there is a new Nigeria, there will be so many 'winches' to be slapped and burnt and so many charlatans in the name of pastors. |
They both need cane and slap deliverance by all the pastors in Nigeria before they can be healed |
I thank God for her life that she did not pass out due to shock. I also commiserate with her on the loss of the car.seem to be a write off.God will provide another one for you. But entertainment journalists in Nigeria can lie! How does that car equate to a Honda CRV? ok, How is that accident ghastly? ok, maybe its 2011 CRV and that car does not even look to me like a brand new car even if it were another brand of car. I wonder what they would have written if the picture was not made available with the story.Perhaps they would have called the car a Rolls Royce Phantom or an Aston-Martin. |
I salute you Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki). You have succeeded in doing what some giants have not got the guts to achieve. Even if some people say you got your wife with your money, then i salute you more for being able to rise above what some people would see as a challenge. You are a man. I pray that you have a happy married life. One question i have always wanted to ask the critics of this marriage is "If Aki were to be your brother, would you ever want him to grow old and never get married?" Congratulations Chinedu and wifey |
Off course Baba Suwe as he was able to beat NDLEA to their game.Only 007 could have done that. ![]() |

confirmed opportunist, |
That means most of you wont be able fly within America.I can tell you that i had the worst flying experience of my life in the US.i.e Maryland-Florida return. At a time on both flights, the plane was almost upside down and at some point in time, the pilot barked from the cockpit that the crew should sit down and there should be no standing up till he gives the go-ahead.Since that experience i swore never to fly within America.Someone then told me its because of the size of the aircraft, it was a small aircraft. |

pro01:Thank you.I cannot agree less with you.Do you know why we wont get to the root of this matter? Because we would not intelligently study the scheme of things> The Police and the public. From what i saw of the 10-minute package, the girl seem to me to be a wakabout girl in the city and somehow agreed to have sex with one of the guys but got more than what she bargained for, which to me is gross irresponsibility and callousness on the part of the boys and the hand of the law must catch up with them. One thing is that those boys are most likely university students and for that reason, they should be fished out and expelled from the university,a citadel of learning and education. Those guys are not fit to be in the university. An educated mind would not go to such extent. They should also be taught lessons which would serve as deterrent to other people. |
justwise:Yeah,i quite agree with you and again the person in question was granted discretionary ILR, not every student with a parent qualifies automatically |
Hi all, i have actually seen a student older than 18,infact in his late 20s granted family settlement visa, although the mum is a british citizen and it didnt come easily, it came through so many court cases, so i do beleive it is a possibility, thanks |
