"Look mister, you make very stupid, convoluted and insane statements because of the blindness of your mind. Let me respond to some of your foolishness, perhaps your vain pride will let you get some understanding:

1. Lagos, Abuja and PH do not constitute the whole country, doofus! Yet you are grandstanding on mere ignorance?? The success of a nation is not measured by their best (strongest of them), but an appraisal of the weakest of them. In any of those places you mentioned, life is ". . .poor, nasty, brutish and short. . .", take this from someone who has lived and worked in Abuja even before you got your pathetic job, lived in Lagos, and visited more parts of Nigeria than your sorry ass. Guess what? There are places over here which you haven't heard about. . .not New York, LA, London, Paris, Toronto,  Madrid. . .but life here is way, way, way, way much better than you will ever know. Believe that people who work here as welders (nothing wrong with that job), they make more money and live a better quality of life than you will ever know. If you make millions from your suffer-head white collar job and you can go to the malls and buy imported goods and flaunt it in the face of your less fortunate neighbor, but can you buy good roads, electricity (not generator killing you with noise and pollution), freedom without harassment from politicians, thugs and robbers, justice and fair hearing (almost 100% of the time), health care that you can bank on (remember your president will not even vouch for his life after spending N2B to import equipment for his personal use, and the list goes on. . .endlessly). This is not in a popular city and this is even for less than average people who can only have an ordinary job. Now, think of people who actually aim very high in their vocations and create the technologies the company you work for sells or markets in Nigeria.

2. Those companies you mention (Chevron, Shell, Haliburton, etc) are only paying you slave wages for all I care. How much do you earn that you think it is representative of everyone in Nigeria? Guess what? In a proper, fair and functioning system, although people will work for these companies you boast about, a lot of people will not. Some will finish their high school, start on a bright idea and make more money you could never dream about. You are talking of a job like you will keep the job forever. . .you must be demented. Look at the worst cases in the villages and smaller towns where real people face serious challenges foisted on them mostly by a system that is designed to limit them from the day they were born. The salary you get per year is what some students will get here on a scholarship in one year and you are flexing muscle? The least privileged person here will still enjoy the roads you cannot, the power you cannot, the peace you cannot, the stability you cannot, better health care than Yaradua can buy for billions in Germany! I am talking about the least privileged in a small town ad your are boasting about a failed system operating in the "best" places in Nigeria?

3. I bet you can never quit or resign this job you worship except you die or are incapacitated, can you? I see your are even talking about the fact that you are a "big boy". . .utter FOOLISHNESS. Look, it is only in failed and failing states like Nigeria that how big you are is important. When you visited somewhere outside Nigeria, did anyone notice your clothes, your jewelery or that you are a big boy? Did you not join a queue, wait for your turn and address even a receptionist with respect and courtesy? If you disagreed with someone, did you just slap them and insist on YOUR way? Look, in a functioning system, a much higher paying job will be resigned and the person goes back to school or quits to take his life in another direction. Can anyone in Nigeria (average Joe the Plumber) resign his job and be confident of his next steps?"

Thank you,This is reality on board.I imagine someone calling himself a big boy where electricity doesnt function and he decides to buy a big generator that emits smoke, makes noise vibrates the entire sub structure and drives to work in a big car on bad roads.I am indeed sorry for you Mr.Big Boy.I wonder when Nigerian will stop quantifying the development of a Nigerian with the number of millionaires in Nigeria. The development of a country is measured by how the resources of that country is shared among its citizens and access to all the indicators of good standard of living such as good road, power, good health, human rights, clean air, safe drinking water, good security(All these may not be accessible to an illegal immigrant, mind you) to the weakest of the society. Not just that somebody will come here and say he is a millionaire and many people have big cars in Nigeria and therefore Nigeria is better than abroad.Naija Big Boy, you need to come up with statistics to back up your claims about the middle class theory, then i know you have researched have found out that middle class has INDEED emerged in Nigeria.

However,if we all leave Nigeria for these goons in authority and continue to rant from abroad, who will make the country what we all want it be?How can we make Nigeria good?US,Uk,Canada,Germany etc can never be our country.we will always be foreigners there(for real).I am looking forward to the day Nigeria will rise up and takes its place in league of developed nations.

Mr.Smooth, why do you need to come and seek refuge in Europe when you have such a 'pretty' job back in Nigeria?an Austria of all places! I keep wondering, but we are all entitled to our own oipnions as adults but IMO, it is not worth it to come and enslave yourself in Austria when you can build a career in Nigeria and come to Europe/North America whenever you feel, for holidays.

At least I can wake up at 1 am and drive to Tesco to shop without any fear! grin grin

Life is full of compromises, so it depends on what is important to you/your family.
Firstly, not everyone face joblessness, loneliness, e.t.c like you seem to suggest. If you are lonely, I suggest you spend your sunday around peckham market. grin grin. If you work fulltime from monday to Friday, you should be looking forward to resting during the weekend, visiting friends, going to church (if applicable) e.t.c. Afterall also, Lebara and phone card never finish! So you can jist with Family and friends back home.

You can be in naija and have millions in your account or be here and have only a few hundreds or thousands in your account and enjoy the facilities that this place provides. Whatever is priority for you or of importance. You can earn much and pay through your nose to have your kids go to Private schools in Nigeria or you can have them go to very good state schools here for virtually free if you live in a good area. Its all your choice. I dont mind the about 6 months of freezing weather, cos at least i can pad myself. I prefer it to heat. Is it all the time that I am outside during the cold weather?

Anyway, why you come back here sef?

Thats the gist man!

@ Buteh, congratz but please ensure all your vital documents are returned by the British high commission because it was after i had booked for my flight that i realized that the second page of my visa letter wasnt returned.i had to cancel the flight and go to the high commission to request for it.I was lucky they found it.i had to do pay extra charges in order to get a new flight date but thank God i arrived safely and there wasnt any problems at the immigration except that they requested that i had an x-ray at the health post situated at the Heathrow airport. For all nairalanders still on the race, keep PRAYING and keep trying, All will be well!!

I got my student visa today after few working days. I submitted at the VI VAC last week tuesday and here are the documents i used in getting the visa.

1. Visa Letter from the school
2. I paid 25% of the school fees and 200GBP accomodation fees
3. Original of my post secondary school certificates
3. Sworn affidavit, police report and a newspaper advert to support the fact that the original of my WAEC certificate is missing and i once asked for people's opinion on that on this forum and i took their advice.
4. Bank statement that indicated the required financial stuff (remainder of school fees and the money required to live outside London for 9 months).
5. Letter from the school's agent in Nigeria.
And above all, PRAYERS.

To all still waiting,Please continue to pray and i beleive all will come out well.

Dear all,due to the loss of my original WAEC cert, I applied to the school with a photocopy of WAEC certificate/Internet print out of of WAEC result using the WAEC scratch card, because that's what they asked for the admission. I am applying next week with a confirmation of the result sent directly to the BHC by WAEC and also the sworn affidavit from the high court and also a police report for it.What else do you advise because i dont want to penalised for not producing an original certificate.
Thanks and an urgent reply is needed.

Politics / Re: Adeboye Wins Living Legend Polls by tjadeba(m): 1:45pm On Jun 18, 2009
Guys, Trust hypocrites with their theories, You needn't go far because our system in this country is where a person who is undeserving of something gets it first. In politics, religion, education, sports and what sector have you. It's a system not based on Meritocracy. In the first place,i beleive Adeboye's name was rigged into the poll just like Yar'adua's was to the presidential election that held in 2007 because if we are to even talk about living legends in the Christendom/spiritualism, he wont come anywhere near the 4th.What are we to say about Bishop Gbonigi,Arch-Bishop Alonge,Arch Bishop Anthony Okogie and their likes?these are people have really added one value or the other to these society and in no small way too.they have stood against our oppressors when their lives were at stake, they have been able to demonstrate a highl level of accountability and transparency in the handling of financial issues as it regards their flocks because i have never heard of any story of financial impropriety or the other labelled against them.If Adeboye is to come into the fray of these legends like Soyinka and Fawehinmi, why is Okotie,Oyakhilome or Oyedepo's name missing?
Again,i hear people saying he donated 50 Million (Euro,Pounds,Dollars or Naira) to UnILAG.People, what legitimate job does he do to have that kind of money or did he donate that on behalf of RCCG?Is it not the poor people's money he claims to shepard(indeed)?
All in all, what has been this man's contribution to Nigeria's development?no amount of christian we have will solve our basic problems, a pointer to it is that the number of christians/muslims we have in Nigeria today does not have any impact on the level of corruption in the Nation today, its likeboth keep rising at the same pace. Our values keep getting worse yet the number of muslims/christians keep rising, what do these our preachers teach their congregation? final word
anyhow, the poll says a lot about nigerians and our values and why we will in 2020, we will probably have regressed even more .

Chidichris has really spoken my mind, all you others are no different from our stupid senator and ignorant reporter because you will never address the Nation's issues at the basics, only books books and researches that wont bring in any results.Imagine these folks are not even talking about why he is not championing how to fix our roads, rather they are saying its propeller this propeller that.Does the propeller he bought move on roads? We still have a long way to go in Nigeria as per fixing our problems. So help us God

This is bad! right now,am looking at the channel and they are showing their latest acquisition- a Mack truck for live beaming of outside broadcast. And on the basis of that,FIFA have appointed it as the broadcast partner of the U-17 WC.
You need to see how the management staffs are praising themselves and smiling.Does that mean that they still pay the senior staffs?and if that is the arrangement, then one should ask if the senior staffs are theonly ones doing the work and the unpaid staffs just lazing away.I have noticed one thing in Nigeria, working under a sole proprietor is slaving. The owner takes it all.
Travel / Switzerland Offers Illegal Nigerian Migrants $6,500 Each To Relocate by tjadeba(m): 4:16pm On Apr 20, 2009
good deal?
read:

Switzerland has offered to pay any Nigerian living illegally in that country who is willing to return home, about 6,500 dollars (N961,000).
This was part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Federal Government and Switzerland in 2004 on the Voluntary Repatriation of Nigerians illegally residing in that country.

“Under the agreement the Swiss Government is providing nearly 6,500 dollars as assistance to each of the nearly 1,000 Nigerians who want to voluntarily leave Switzerland to start off life after their sojourn,” the Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, Martin Uhomoibhi, said in Abuja weekend.

Uhomoibhi said the two countries were currently collaborating to ensure that the process of implementing the MoU conformed to international best practices and standards on agreements.

He said that currently, there were more that 4,000 Nigerians residing in Switzerland.

“They are not just throwing this money at them; they ensure that they have a viable business model or viable initiative.

“The process of implementing these businesses is being monitored by the Swiss authority in Nigeria, the International Organisation of Migration and officials of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and there are success stories.

“We are trying to encourage the Swiss Government to identify these success stories and see how we can popularise them because it will do a great deal of confidence building for both countries,’’ he said.

Uhomoibhi, who expressed the hope that Nigerians would not capitalize “on this laudable gesture by migrating en masse illegally to Swiss just to benefit from the grant”, said some mechanism had been put in place to check such abuses.

“I hope this would not happen because this gesture has underscored the goodwill of the Swiss Government and the swiftness in Nigeria’s diplomacy in entering into such partnership,” he said. The envoy further said that migration should not be seen as a negative thing, but, “rather the end use which sometimes could be very negative”.

“Human beings have to move from time to time, from one place to another so it is with Nigerians. What is important is to ensure that such movements are legal, constructive and fosters bilateral relations,’’ he stressed. (NAN)
