Customs is the least paid paramilitary job in Nigeria [make ur findings], and u expect officers to use this same salary to take care of themselves in d bush as well as their family [this is why dey compromise sometimes]. I hv seen an officer who told me dat to get to his duty post from his house, he spends nothing less than 15k just to leave Abuja and travels to his place of assignment. The journey na 2 days. Not to even mention d enduring hours on bike through d bush [3hours on bike].

My point here is dat, d whole system has been like dat right from time. We have a lot of porous border. That's why most of dis smuggling activities is difficult to contain. As the saying goes "e get who dem go put sugar for him mouth wey go spit am out"?.

Customs have the right to impound regardless of where the vehicles are EVEN AFTER CROSSING THE BORDERS...The question we should be asking is how did the vehicles pass through the borders in the first instance if we have an effective custom service?

In most cases, it is the same custom service that allows smugglers to pass through the borders and then turn around to seize same items after collecting huge bribe to allow them pass...

Living abroad for a lengthy period of time can make you forget how things are back home. So when you eventually go visiting, the first 2 weeks can be fun and exciting... however, by the third week, the Nigerian climate begins to become exhausting. You start to get agitated by the mediocrity and myopic mindsets of the average person around you... the culture (or lack therein) begins to bother you, the heat, the mosquitos, the extortionate fees for internet use, the lack of electricity, the fake forming of almost every young person... it just gets too much.

▪︎Health Reasons

Those with medical conditions are aware that the health sector in Nigeria is in shambles. As thus, they would rather stay in an environment where their medical needs are met.

▪︎ Introvertedness

Life abroad favours the introvert. In Nigeria, people can be loud, there's not much privacy, people don't mind their business. This is something that a lot of people abroad cannot adapt to ... therefore, they choose to remain abroad.

▪︎ Papers

Some are stuck abroad because of the notoriously known complications of obtaining papers. I don't need to explain this one further.

▪︎ Children

If you've had kids abroad, the thought of moving them back home can be scary as they've already been acclimatised to the lifestyle and upbringing here.

▪︎ Commitments

Those who have gotten married, built a career and bought houses might find it difficult to up and leave what they have laboured for just to return home to an uncertain terrain.

The host of last year edition Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will be stepping in the third time to host the show. But, there has been an unanswered question in the hearts of viewers in Nigeria and Africa.

There are diverse comments on social media suggesting that even though the show may have made what looks like some ‘extravagant spending’, it may have raked well as much as N5.1Billion! Wow!

The above figures still show that the organizers of the show actually made something huge as profit from what came out of the show.

This also is because the revealed revenue from SMS does not include income from adverts and sponsorships from companies like PayPorte, Heritage bank, MiniMee, Pepsi, Dano milk, among a host of several others.

Even after the Telecoms have taken their share of their earnings of the Big Brother Naija organizers, there will still be a very significant profit for big guys.

We could very well point out that the several millions of Naira raked from advertising and sponsorship would be more than enough to cover the costs for putting the show together.
