you're a man.

let it go.

Unless you're lying about your gender.

With the way you're presenting yourself, if you get wife or girlfriend for house, it wont be long before you turn her into a punching bag after much disagreement.

the type of insults men use on women are what you need to look at sometimes. Whne the insults are coming from a misogynistic viewpoint, then only a certified schizo would see anything good in that.

Afam:
It seems you always have time to respond to some issues but the very important ones like trying to remember how come Dr Ngozi became a Prof don't seem to get the time required to confirm or support your position. This is troubling.

how many times must i repeat myself here?

I have to remember how come Okonjo became a professor? I need to get the time required to support my position?

learn when to quit an argument plz. I understand you're sentimental about richybrainwashedblack but you're sounding too ridiculous. The entire points have clearly flown over your head and right now you're only about maintaining some imaginary status quo.

Politics › Re: Ministerial Nominee fails simple questions. by tpiah: 4:57pm On Jun 22, 2009
the problem isnt just the leaders alone. The system and the people making up the system have their share of blame. A tree doesnt make a forest and neither can any one leader singlehandedly shoulder the responsibility of "fixing" Nigeria.

George Bush could also barely manage to string words together a lot of the time yet the world didnt end while he was president.

However a big difference between Naija and the US is the percentage of the populace that is educated and enlightened.
But surely taking the shine off Adam B and focusing on his helpers would surely make this thread denigrate in no time to a gender bashing avenue for both sexes to vent their spleen and burst a vein cheesy
Facing adam leads nowhere as he's said times withuot number that his sole purpose is to abuse women for whatever reason. That's his handle for that particular moniker and he doesnt hide it.

His helpers are more interesting to me because they want to straddle both sides of the fence at the same time ie appear as "good guys" while egging on adam to do their dirty work for them.

I'm not engaging in debate with his helpers- I'm only expressing my views on this matter.

Romance › Re: Maturity And Romance by tpiah: 10:45am On Jun 22, 2009
@ poster

well, in this case, some males took it on themselves to start a thread asking if/why women get angry at being called bitches.

Some women (including myself), gave their opinions, which didnt reflect what some males wanted to hear. Namely,  that women are bitches and shouldnt mind being called so regardless of the actual context of discussion.

Another male then took up the cause by calling out particular women and labelling them bitches for various reasons which made sense to him and other weirdos. He was cheered on and encouraged by some other males who shared his views on the status of women.

So I would say the attacks were unprovoked and a blatant attempt to use derogation, discrimination and gender profiling in an attempt to intimidate and oppress a certain minority.

Assuming there'd been a definite reason such as a recent fight or exchange of words, then one could overlook the incidents. However, there wasnt.

Now, if I hear any of this coming back to me outside of this thread there will be a problem. undecided

Not to mention at the same time there were other attacks in other sections.

well, according to some clowns, women should be happy to be labelled bitches.

But the clowns' mothers are "exempt" from being called bitches oh.
Romance › Re: Handling Jealousy by tpiah: 10:29am On Jun 22, 2009
sparta:
Jealousy is normal though it just should not be excessive because excessive jealousy is a sign of possesiveness and insecurity.

Mates also should be able to respect their spouses whether married or not and draw the line when dealing with the opposite sex.

80% of my friends are guys but when dating and in a serios relationship, i ask them for some space because i dont have to give my man headache.

I had an issue with my man over him picking different ladies in his car on our way to work as a way of helping, you know, its either titi or bola or nkechi and they are always related to one of his friends one way or the other. I was a bit jealous because you can never let your guard down when dealing with too many women around your man. I asked for some space on it and told him he had to do something about it.

it caused a lot of fracas between us and we alomst broke up because i was ready to let go not because he cheats but i know that the heart of people is very deep. The enemy never comes as an enemy, they come disguised as friends and when they strike, hmm. My man is very good looking and i know what is looks does to women, believe me.

I asked for some space from my friends out of respect for him, i think he should too.

So i really drew the line and we settled it and we are good now. Jealousy is part of our make as humans so we should be wise for our own sakes and the sake of our mates.
na wa oh.

One would wonder if none of his friends have cars or can arrange for their girlfriends' transportation.

Assuming you were the one picking up different dudes everyday, what would be his reaction I ask.

"Ask any law enforcement officer or legal beagle in a civilized society."

That's one of the most defective yardstick anyone could consider in determining incidence of abuse among couples. Most women are natural talkers, and when they do they want you to empathise with them. How many men report spousal abuse to law enforcement agencies? How many were not disbelieved and humiliated?

In Nigeria, the tendency is to automatically heap all the blame on the woman and exonerate the man

What proof(s) do you have to validate this?

In countries where the law protects the already overprotected male rather than the female a lot goes on which never sees the light of day talkless get prosecuted

Countries like? And let's assume you're right. In countries where the reverse happens, is it not the same result you get? Women capitalising on the provisions of the law to perpetrate evil?

Finally, I have no "interests" to protect. Only insecure people blabber about victimisation. A woman rightly said, "no one can regard you as inferior without your consent." So, I don't see myself as an underdog or an endangered species. All I'm saying is both men and women are prone to spousal abuse, one way or the other. And what we all should be advocating is mutual love and respect, not selfish interests.
like I said, you stick to your opinion and I'll stick to mine.

However, lets keep it simple and agree on one thing:

this topic is about men beating their wives.

Men are more likely to consider wife beating normal [s]and the only way to "handle" a "bitchy" woman[/s] if that's what they grew up seeing.

In Nigeria, men are allowed to beat up their wives with no consequences.

Do you also want to argue with these basic facts? Though I dont know if you're Nigerian but you sound like it.
