Big B1:
I knew from day 1 that Yar'Adua wasn't going anywhere.
Don't be a fool, the big man is still in control!
And do not get it twisted, it wasn't up to OBJ anymore.

On the other hand, David Mark knows why he was sent home and I'm not sure if the decision can ever be reversed.
It's a done deal!
There are some ambiguity here Big B1 can you expantiate please, this is really getting interesting.

The same kind of rigged election that made Atiku number 2 during Obasanjo regime is now what he is now contending. I still support Nigeria than any politician. Common sense than any politicians seeking for selfish justice
Very good point though I had wished we start from some point to get it right, We just cannot continue like this;
Meanwhile let's celebrate wth Yara,

Buhari's Lawyers said that they will be taking the Judges on violation of oath of office.
They claimed to have been bared from calling their wittnesses only for them to in turn
use same against them while delivering their verdict.

On those who felt it is good for common sense, yah I agree but when will we get it right.

@ Afam
I think I share in your love for Yar'dua but what I'm yet to come to term with is the basis of the judgement and the allegations as in the report from Sahara reporters. Look at it this way; Is it possible that those long speeches as made by the panel were intended to explain away certain realities? Don't get me wrong bros, but I'm just currious. I may not neccesarily fancy Atiku and Buhari but why not a re-run to correct the percieved inconsistencies. Just for the good of our Country, our image and what have you.

What is left now is for the Judgement to be published so that we can study it
to know why it went the way I see it now. Other things calling for answers are:
why was that Judge promoted at this time? Wouldn't it have been better to do
that say two months after this judgement? With this judgement are we making
progress? What of all the land slide achievement of the judiciary in the recent past?

Democracy and Nigeria na wa ooooo!

PoliticsYar'dua's Carrot and Tribunal Verdict by Truequest(op): 5:11pm On Feb 25, 2008
As the Presidential Elections Tribunal approaches the D-Day for the delivery of its judgment regarding the flawed April 2007 elections, feelers from the seat of government in Abuja shows an air of over-confidence by Umar Musa Yar'adua over the impending verdict of the tribunal.

Many Nigerian lawyers and political pundits expect the tribunal will cancel the polls that illegally put Yar’adua in Aso Rock, Nigeria’s seat of power. But in a move that underlines his over-confidence, Yar'adua has decided to leave for China on Tuesday evening on a state visit to the Asian country, even though the state visit is scheduled from February 28 to March 2. A source in the presidency attributed the early departure to time difference between Nigeria and China.

But another source in Yar’adua’s inner circles disclosed to Saharareporters that Mr. Yar’adua’s decision to hop off to China reflected his confidence that his operatives had softened a majority of the tribunal members to grant victory to the resident of Aso Rock

Over the last few months and weeks, Saharareporters has detailed serious efforts by Yar’adua’s camp to compromise the tribunal members as they settled to finalize their judgment. We specifically reported attempts by the Attorney General of the Federation, Michael Aondoakaa, to reach the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice James Ogebe, through his US.-based son, Emmanuel Ogebe.

Several sources have revealed to us that the nomination of Justice James Ogebe for the Supreme Court days before his tribunal’s ruling was meant to reassure the Benue-born judge that the Federal Government was serious about fulfilling its own end of a deal.

Justice Ogebe’s son, Emmanuel Ogebe, was seen with AGF Aondoakaa on February 4th 2008 at the premises of the Presidential Elections Tribunal in Abuja speaking in confidential tones just as striking judicial workers put the premises in a lockdown.

While Ogebe is a senior jurist and widely regarded as knowledgeable about the law, many have viewed his sudden elevation to the Supreme Court as a suspect maneuver.

“It’s a move out of [former President] Obasanjo’s script,” said a senior advocate, who demanded anonymity. “It speaks volumes about what may have gone underground to appease the chairman of the tribunal as a final means of getting him on board to rule in favor of Umar Yar'adua.”

Apart from Justice Ogebe, our investigations also revealed that direct efforts were made to induce other tribunal members and their families. We have learned, for example, that Justice Uwani Abba-Aji has been pressured with substantial financial inducement. Justice Abba-Aji, the panel’s only female jurist, hails from Borno State, the same state as the Secretary to the Federal Government, Baba Gana Kingibe. Saharareporters found out that Yar’adua contracted former Senator Abba-Aji to spearhead the campaign to woo the justice.

I had always wished Yar'dua succeeded at the election tribunal, but if that report is true,
then we are not in in anyway going to get better in the nearest future. I expected the
president to be a man of his words. Go through the processes and if need be go for a re-run
thereby giving Nigerians the oppurtunity the to appreciate the moves he has made.
But that report goes to show the same desperation we have always seen among our
leaders. Imagine the senate president   trying to pull down the roof of the tribunal for
declaring what they saw in his case.

PoliticsRe: Commissioners And Area Boys What’s The Difference Legality From Illegality? by Truequest(m): 2:33pm On Feb 25, 2008
There is a trend within Nigeria to create legality from illegality amongst public officers. The most recent apart from Soludo & his ban on spraying(By which authority or legal instruments??)
Go read the Nigerian constitution as ammended by the senate, Soludo did not formulate any law he is merely encouraging adherence to an existing law. Senate made the law not CBN, as the later has no loco standi to do so.

The captain of the GB Airways Airbus A320, which had 156 passengers on board, landed at Istanbul airport after he was forced to divert due to a "medical emergency".

The flight left Manchester at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday for Paphos in western Cyprus.

PoliticsMusharraf Foes Triumph At Polls by Truequest(op): 6:59pm On Feb 19, 2008
The main party backing President Pervez Musharraf has admitted defeat on Tuesday after elections, leaving the party of slain former premier Benazir Bhutto and other opponents headed for a crushing win in Pakistan's elections. The two main opposition parties, the PPP of late PM Benazir Bhutto and the PML-N, led by another former PM, Nawaz Sharif, already have a clear majority. The Pakistan Muslim League-Q saw its chief and several key members lose their seats in Monday's polls and unofficial results announced on state television showed they could not attain a parliamentary majority. With counting in from 257 constituencies, PML-Q and its allies had taken a total of 57 seats. Even if they won all the remaining seats not yet counted, they would not be able to attain a majority in the parliament, which has 272 elected and 70 unelected seats. "This is the basic spirit of democracy," Azeem told AFP. "We believe the elections were free and fair and everybody must accept the decision for the betterment of Pakistan. "If they form a coalition with a two-thirds majority in parliament they could impeach Mr. Musharraf. The full scale of the defeat inflicted on the pro-Musharraf PML-Q is expected to become clearer as more results come in.

http://www.guardiannewsngr.com/breaking_news/article01
What interest me most about this pool is the way PML-Q(Musharraf's party) accepted defeat. The fact that Pakistan is a third world country makes it more interesting. No one attempted to create one magic to subvert the will of the people. I can't hardly wait to see the day a party in power will be roundly defeated in a national election in Nigeria.

Over the past few months it has become normal in Lagos to hear that buildings in public places especially markets have been burnt. The rate at which this fire occur is becoming worrisome and it seems there is no end for such fire incidents. Each of these fires leave in it's trace deaths and destroyed lives. For those of us that hear on the news, you may not understand what it feels like to build from scratch, only to be send back to the scratch again by one misfortune. My question is this what is the cause of these fires? I bet you LAGOS want to know and so do I.

PoliticsGunmen Attack Efcc Officials, Journalists by Truequest(op): 5:12pm On Feb 11, 2008
Ten unidentified gunmen attacked officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and over 40 journalists in Ibadan at about 2 a.m today. The gangsters, who wielded AK47 rifles, stormed Development Support Centre, Iyanganku, venue of a training programme tagged: “Capacity Development Training on Investigative Reporting for Nigerian Journalists.” The programme was organised by the Wole Soyinka Award For Investigative Journalism in collaboration with EFCC whose officials are the resource persons.

Some of the victims who spoke with P.M.News on phone from Ibadan this morning, said the gunmen were shouting “where is the man from EFCC?” ( Dapo Olorunyomi) intermittently immediately they gained entrance into where the journalists working for local and foreign media, lodged.

During the room-to-room raid, the gunmen used the butt of their guns to beat and injure Dapo, the Personal Assistant on Media to the Chairman of EFCC.

Others victims manhandled were Ibim Semenitari, the publisher of Business Eye who lost her wedding ring to the gunmen, Dr. Doyin Mamoud, Mr. Steve Aborisade, Dr. Shola Olorunyomi, Sade Adeboye of Tell magazine, Barrister Jiti Ogunye, etc.

The gangsters reportedly took away cash, eight lap tops, jewelry, cell phones and other valuables.

When Dapo went to report the incident at the Iyanganku Police Station, there was no light neither was there any operational vehicle to convey the cops to the scene of the incident.

The police came after the gunmen had gone.

The owner of the Development Support Centre, who is a lecturer at the University of Ibadan, was grateful to God that no life was lost during the attack.
