Abel202:
I have stopped commenting on nairaland for almost a year because its like kids have invaded this great site. None the less am on Nairaland every single day.
Buhari is an unrepentant and incurable ethnic bigot - This is a fact. Anyone arguing this is only playing to the gallery. You can not make such ethnic bigotry accusation on Obasanjo or IBB for example - Why always Buhari? Jonathan might be a weak and ineffective leader, but Jonathan was not an ethnic bigot either inspite of what some myopic people might want to paint him.
Those that see nothing wrong with Buhari's Northern supremecist attitude should also not cry when someone from another section of the country takes over in 4 or 8 years time (as must happen). The beauty of this democracy is that the presidency can not reside in one section always.
Buhari's actions and utterances and body language shows that he is only the president of Northern Nigeria, visiting only Northern Nigeria, only interested in issues that concern Northern Nigeria, unless its the Oil from the South that will generate money to take care of Northern Nigeria. That is the evil side of Buhari - I pray it does not destroy this administration of his as it did his military era.
On the good side, this Buhari is very serious about fighting corruption and I love him for that. This is one area Jonathan failed woefuly. If Buhari could bring on board the special courts for corruption to fast track corruption cases and strengthen the Efcc to do their job well I think we shall make real progress in curbing corruption which is a real menace to our societly.
If Jonathan 10 core appointments were made in a day Nigeria would have gone up in flame.

Tell me what is left in real time govt when only your kindred constitute the ENTIRE PIVOT of operation. in finance, the min, permsec and spokesperson were igbo speaking. Ask yourself whether any tribe stood a chance without the mercy of the offices listed above. But no one tried to bring the country down on this. Our anger was just impunity of Jonathan's aides who held him and the whole country in criminal contempt.

Passingshit:
I'll explain it to you in an ABC manner.

Mr Z gave birth to two sons and named them A and B. A was stronger and very industrious while B is just intelligent and knows how to do things quicker without sweating away.
One day, Mr Z gave them a task. He asked them to fill two pits that he dug in his backyard with sand before nightfall. Whoever finished first would own his landed properties when he died. And so the two boys set out to work. A, being the a strong young man started off immediately. But B knew there was no way he could fill his own pit before nightfall, so he called his friends to come and assist him. And they did. In the end, B was able to finish first while A, who toiled and sweated all alone got exhausted and couldn't finish it before nightfall.

A deserved that land because he was hardworking.
However, B merited it because he was able to finish first.

So, Mr Anansek, posts are generally awarded based on merit. Anything short is mere sentiment
Warren Buffet: If you are looking for someone to hire, look for three things: integrity, energy and intelligence. if they lack integrity, the other two will kill you.

From your analogy there is a principle of law that says: you cannot delegate a delegated power. The assignment was personal. for us to know whether others could be involved, B needs clarification from his father. B did a reasonable and efficient thing. however, his loyalty may be questioned on the account of bringing third parties to a private matter. Assuming the assignment was given as a public job in which efficiency is solely the test B is the guy to go for. Hence, PMB is right in choosing his personal aides based on the principle of loyalty.

There is a balance to this. most loyal person may not be the most suited for the job. So the task is to find somone who has demonstrated trustworthiness and who has capacity to deliver. PMB appointees have these qualities. Other appointees to come will operate on their own and answerable on their own.

The point made in the 2015 election was that GMB has been vindicated. How? Things fell apart and Beautiful Ones were not born - after his ouster in 1985. In fact "there was a country" someone who could no longer hide his disgust had to lament.

are people too intellectually bankrupt and morally befuddled to see that The beginning and the end of the famous Achebe career were marked by sad potrayals of our national life and that the leaders we support are complicit in varying degrees. Time and space of 50years!

Now a man who suffers-no-fool-gladly is leading us. Alas, the same reactionary voices are back - periodic saints who saw no evil or iniquity in corruption but now recognize the equity of federal character.

For your information, it is better for PMB to save our Commonwealth by lack of "spending action" than for your favourites to deplete it through "squandering action"

UNITY of PURPOSE? like 12million naira per delegate in the name of confab - whilst some police men die on duty for lack common bullet proof.

Just two mud houses, a single farm, two undeveloped single plot of land, two vehicles bought from his own savings compared to the houses Jonathan scattered across the world worth billions of dollars, the luxurious SUV's at his disposal, no savings, all finances gotten from the country's treasury......the list is endless.
God bless your dear heart. as for you initial fears, PMB is genuinely concerned about every Nigerian. He has little regard for the politics of groups because at no time has he been supported by the leaders of those groups both north and south. it is only now that few leaders are coming around. elites across the land have called him names before now and even some are yet to come to terms with the reality of his leadership and the need for selflessness. instead of bargaining for power it nobler to bargain for the noble goals to which power can achieve. Alas, some will blackmail PMB not for the needs of their people but for the wants of their privileged selves.

This is not an ego bruising mission: the author remarked that certain tribes do not deserve enslavement. our view is: no one deserves enslavement; slavery is prohibited under jus cogens. This is a response to a tribal post which sought to validate the author's criminal profiling of the black race. misplaced sense of anger does nothing but lend credence to the jaundiced view the white author.

The regret, if any, cannot be compared to the joy of voting out the the agonies of PDP led govt.

By the way what will the regret be Bourne of: appointment? That is the headache of "trickle down" politicians and their followers. For the majority who long to prosper with their own hands, enabling environment is all we ask. It is already getting better than the corruption infested regime of GEJ. So no regret.

PMB got this hopeless vehicle at the middle of nowhere.
The new picture reveals that unlike the previous driver, the car has to get to a WORKSHOP. The workshop has tools and four tyres are on ground. The first picture indicated question doubt on PMB. But the new picture shows no doubt or confussion. PMB knows the car needs help to work hence there us hope he will get the car back on the road.

Why neglect the obvious? Minority emanates from zones, is there any zone taht doesn't have a minority? So according to you ,minority can only be found in the north? When was the last you saw someone outside the North been made the Chief justice of the federation or controller General of immigration and custom? Are they exclusively preserved for the North ?
I think Obj and GEJ shld be able to enlighten us on what they did or didn't do to change the exclusivity. As for the CJN, that was the exclusive preserve of the south until 1987. bottomline : to insist always on geopolitical zoning is conspiratorial in the context of 250 ethnic groups

That is not my worry. I am a supporter of General Buhari but the pattern of appointments is INDEFENSIBLE.
OUT OF 42 APPOINTMENTS SO FAR, 35 REPRESENTING 83.3 PERCENT IS FROM THE NORTH.
4 REPRESENTING 9.1 PERCENT FROM SOUTH WEST
3 REPRESENTING ABOUT 7 PERCENT FROM SOUTH SOUTH
0 REPRESENTING 0 PERCENT FROM SOUTH EAST!!
THIS TO ME IS DANGEROUSLY DIVISIVE AND MUST BE CONDEMNED IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS.
I understand your perspective. but the president has not made Up to 1% of the total appointment he is expected to make in the fullness of time. out of over 8000. FEC is still there and ambassadors are still there. SS/SE will not only be adequately represented but they will also feel federal presence more than ever before. This is not to politically pacify these regions but to give back to them, as of right, the development they have been denied by their own sons previously in power.

If you look at ethnicity of those appointed you will see permissible pattern of federal character. The appointees are from minorities of north and south, groups that Nigerian majority Ethnic groups have been ignoring since 1914. Be assured, every state will be represented!

My dear Sweetlemon, it is a big shame honestly. The elevation of mundane sentiments to such heights as to be the major determinants of who gets what became the norm under that useless ex president- it is the only legacy he left behind after his nearly six years of utter misrule.

He has fractured the Nigerian psyche along such lines as ethnicity, religion and region so much so that even supposed educated fellows have now joined the bandwagon of celebration of mediocrity just as long as "their brother" is the mediocre.

All I do is ignore those nuances whenever I can and try to persuade those who care to listen that these faultlines are being accentuated and even in some cases created by politicians who leverage on them to consolidate their power.

I have never had a doubt in my mind Baba means well for this nation and no amount of blackmail by those who swore Baba would fail and would never see anything good in any action he takes would change that belief.

They can wail for all I care- it is not like they have anything else to do with their lives.

It is a delicate matter, sir. but this appointments are not absurd. The SGF and CoS are the very eyes of the president. All documents to the president virtually pass through their tables. If you look at GEJ govt. the SGF and CoS were from the south. Ministers of Petroleum, Finance Works, Aviation all came from SS/SE. Perm Sec finance is SE. Even CBN Gov from north was fired and replaced with someone from ss. The GMD of NNPC is PMBs battle axe for powering the Nigerian Economy. It is a pride of place for SS/SE. Nevertheless, this govt will be fair to all states of the Federation. Be assured.

xtrorse:
Your reasoning above is all hogwash and holds no water in the Nigeria of today. In Nigeria as it's currently structured, your theorisation is false and baseless and cannot work. What works and worked for Buhari is pure systematic rigging! If you're sincere you would dwell majorly on the massive restructuring of the system.
At what did you realize the flaw in our electoral system? Perhaps when your candidate lost power. The arithmetic was not in favour of GEJ. The same demographic distribution that gave north sizeable electorate had worked for PDP 3times before. So the same demographic went for PMB. The outcome in the north reflected the wish of the people in the north. In Southeast how many people came out to protest disenfranchisement? Why do we have avid voters in Rivers, akwa ibom and delta not in other 8 states of SS/SE. Available Intel suggests that majority of SS/SE voters were not too inclined to sacrifice time and money to register to vote. How many Igbos for instance will travel from Lagos to register to vote in Abia? As for southwest, the vote was close, but PMB only needed to hold GEJ down and score at least 25% in each of the 6 southwest states. Even in Ekiti he (PMB) got 40%. Who could be more ruthless than Fayose, yet he could not stop PMB from a technical victory in Ekiti. How do you Expect a people campaigned against as "children wey dem born throway" vote in the north? for their abusers? The problem with PDP is that they were too simplistic in thinking (power answererth all things) Hence the slogan changed from power to the people to "PDP...Power" Then they had a jingle with this lyrics " Jonathan O sidon, NA your seat o, sidon, na beg we dey beg o sidon" If NA beg, make im just make himself president. Why you are singing like that the entire job creation profile of GEJ revealed that 30 million youths unemployed before him. in six years, his policies created less than 5 million jobs. when you add 1 million entrants per year to the outstanding, he left the economy at the same point job creation wise. Then his policy forecast was to create 2 million jobs every year from 2015, when you do the math, that leaves us with 22 million job deficit by 2019. So why you were singing sidon 22 million youths have no hope of employment if GEJ had opportunity to rule for 10 years. it doesn't get better when you yearly entrants to it. so in 10 years we would be virtually at the same statistical point.

As Prof Soludo pointed out, the only relief in APC strategy was probity. Job creation wise it is a statistical tie. When we make argument like this, the simpletons think Nigerians are economically stupid and that 5 pieces of 100 Nair a notes will make the poor forget his poverty of the last 20 years - particularly the last 4 years.

If it was up to you to hire a new MD that will pay you dividends two natural questions will come to your mind:

(1) Do I have to retain the agency that recruited the MDs given your experience in the last sixteen years?
(2) Do you have to reward this agency with four more years of choosing your MD?
Other questions of religion, integrity, ethnicity, etc will come to your mind, but your conclusion will depend on your experience and expectations in the venture.

for majority of 30 million youths their experience propelled them towards PMB. This gravitation is Sociologically logical to people who are not primitively prejudiced and simplistic. You may choose to validate this with any example in the world. In the US the slogan is: "it is the economy, stupid" From UK to Brazil, all elections turn on voters antecedent experience.

There is a news that there is scarcity of potable water at Otuoke. If something as basic as water is scarce, need we discuss other social amenities? The problem is every where in Nigeria, but primitive prejudice will never allow such matters to be the deciding factor in an election. rather it is religion and ethnicity of the oppressor that matters to the pathetically oppressed. What poverty of imagination?!

When you hear Muslims at the grassroots talk about Sharia, never you simplify it as criminal justice system. It is their revival of social justice. They see PMB as an advocate of equality attend an in social justice not as a mallam who is interested in subjecting them to corporal or capital punishment when they err. That is why PMB who does not preach is more popular than preachers - he speaks truth to power. Respectfully, he is not perfect.

For PMB Christian supporters, it is about social justice as it is about Sharia for some Muslims. It is a marriage of values with great potential for tolerance, peace and progress. Make no mistake about it, social justice battles does not hesitate to deal with prejudicially hostile or chronically toxic elements. By the way corruption is toxic!

THAT'S ABSOLUTE NONSENSE. DID OJUKWU KNOW ABOUT IT BEFORE HE DIED OF HEART ATTACK?

IF YOU DON'T USE YOUR REGION OR TRIBE TO CAMPAIGN FOR POLITICAL POSITION, THE ELECTORATE WILL FIND OUT ABOUT THE REGION YOU COME FROM
In reality, yes. but realities are subject to Change. If anyone told PMB his harshest rivals will leave ACN, APGA and PDP and form a national movement to make him president he would describe the prophecy as unrealistic. Castro once gave two "impossible" postulations for the normalization of diplomatic relations with US, namely, (1) There will be a black president (2) There will be a Latin American Pope. 50 years ago those postulations were Utopian. Today, that is the reality! To Nigeria. Anyone with the right 3Ms can be the President. these are: the Right Motivation, the Right Management, the Right Money. to compelling degrees the Right 3Ms coincides in PMB. He wept, chose modesty far below his rank, GENUINELY mixed with commoners, liberalized his political philosophy, and his rivals elevated him. I dare say in barcanista time, things will have become a little better. cheers

Media prosecution & conviction of individuals seems to be a veritable weapon for ruling political parties now.

Did Jonathan make any mistake during his term? Of course he's human and must make mistakes.

President Buhari should note that media prosecution, blackmail & conviction which he's embarked on with APC leaders may some day boomerang. Let justice and equity be our watchword.

Thanks and God bless us all
...
(1) Is GEJ a devil? certainly not
(2) Is mistake a defence for the irregularities of his administration? Irrelevant question. the objective of society is not to determine mistakes or crimes but to, amongst others, ensure law and order by effectively preventing or correcting mistakes and crimes.
(3) Is there anything illegal in anti-mistakes (corruption) war of PMB govt? No. if any, the Court of law will render justice to the aggrieved.
(4) What is the purpose of Criminal justice? deterrence.
(5) Is there any jurisdiction in which public officials are merely prevented institutionally from stealing without penalty in the event of stealing? None.
(6) what is rule of law? equality before the law and observance of human rights.
(7) How did GEJites use Media against GMB? I will like to see your link to any view or concern you raised if the allegations sponsored against GMB bothered you. Or was he not entitled to fair trial during campaign? Who determines where when and how to be fair besides the law?

Conclusion:- GEJ will not go to trial because of the office he held but for as long as his footsoldiers are running away from justice, the public awareness of their deed will not cease. I will therefore urge that you should be interested in how to recover loots and the ends to which the lots should be spent. If you have actionable information on APC members pls feel free to bring it forward.

Sir, few years ago, an NCE graduate from Katsina used to fetch water for me as his job. I once squatted with an Ibo guy, helped to settle down by an I gala man. I have monitored radio programs in Abuja where an Igbo youth renounced his ethnicity because his brothers abandoned him with festering wound. but he was helped by Muslim northerners. Why am I saying this? A good person is a good person no matter where he comes from. This administration works on time bound goals. for obvious reasons the time lines are still being calibrated. You will recall that the President gave September as the month to unveil his cabinet. this is the second in a continuum of milestones that defines the timeline. You will also recall that the President projected 10,000 new police personnel. don't you then think there might just be a need to stay focused on your career pursuits as you mentioned earlier. The justice you seek, sir, is your fundamental right. I wish I could get some enlightenment from you if you feel disposed. I will understand, if you declined to attend to one or two questions I feel compelled to ask you:
1. If you believe that Dr Junaid speaks for non-Biafrans, how did you come to that belief?
2. If you considered the possibility that some some Nigerians hold Igbos in high esteem no more and no less than they hold their tribes men, will it be fair to project them as enemies of the Biafran dream?
3. How can the Biafran Dream be actualized in an atmosphere of hostility?
4. if there are hostilities where are the potential frontiers and who are the potential casualties?
5. if there is a declared capital of Biafra will that be a necessary military target for Federal troops?
Will Abuja be necessary military target for Biafran troops?
6. If you look at the radii of both targets geographically, what do you think the collateral impact of assault would be in terms of geographical spread?
7.Do you not think that before the people of kwara or sokoto would feel the impact of hostilities, south eastern states, given their proximity, would have felt it at least 3 times harder?
8. In the event of hostilities, what happens to billion dollar investments of would be Biafrans in a country where they would be regarded as hostile aliens?
9.Is Biafran Dream possible without hostilities?
10. what is the best approach?
11 Is the aspiration of the ordinary Nigerian ( fulfillment of fundamental rights FHR) different from that of a would be Biafra?
12. if FHR is available for everyone will there still be a need for separation?
13. if politics are conducted along ethnic lines will the outcome not reflect the process?
14. if politics are conducted on strictly FHR basis will the outcome not essentially reflect FHR.

Observation:- Ordinary citizens fan the embers of war even though they have neither bunkers, escape route nor the wherewithal to acquire vital supplies to sustain them in the even of protracted hostilities. why? if an ethnic group feels so alienated from others it must consider its options for separation very carefully. if its indigenes are broadly dispersed, its lands are virtually locked in, its population is less than 1/3, its food supplies are out sourced and and some of its leaders may switch allegiance when push comes to shove, then the only GODLY option is dialogue and firm commitment towards social justice. They will not keep quiet when others are suffering because what goes around comes around. "follow peace with all men" - this is the canon of Christ.

But what strikes me is that of all my bigoted posts you still picked up my interest in the military, well thanks but you know how Nigeria is. Bigotry has prevented willing and qualified individuals from contributing their talents to solve problems like Boko Haram, mass illiteracy in the north, inadequate infrastructure, brain drain etc. The president of all the architects in Canada is a youruba guy that attended a Nigerian University, There are thousands of his type all over the world. I myself came very close to joining the US army, Please Sir don't blame those of who have suffered because of nepotism and are now cynics.
I understand this as a facet of consciousness of ones environment. The Preident's spokesperson used the phrase "in the fullness of time." it is a calibrated phrase for the times we live in. with your talent and patriotic ambition, you will know the import of this phrase going forward.
