Liar, he never said the virus was a hoax stop believing everything the liberal media tell you. He was referring to the Democrats response to use the situation for bipartisan attacks rather than offering solutions.

Saying the US has done less than other countries is also false. The US was one of the first to suspend travel from China and some other countries, and the numbers per capita is way less than the likes of Italy France Germany Spain etc.

Also the US government is very devolved with the state and city governments having lots of power and responsibility so a lot has been done not just at federal level but at state and city levels. Stop spreading false information simply because you hate Trump.

You claim Trump made it political, no the Democrats and media made it political by attacking every step of the way. His point of trying to prevent people panicking makes sense as people rushing to Costco etc in desperation makes no sense and just spreads the virus more. Also the fact remains most people would recover from this virus with the elderly and people with compromised immune system at most risk. That is logical common sense way better than Merkel claiming that 70% of German population will get the virus, how the hell did she come up with that? Event China where this all started has had nowhere near that level and yet she announces such publicly, isn’t that fear mongering?

Well I f you go on the Canadian embassy website you will see the documents they require but the fact you are unable to sponsor your own trip is still a huge red flag. This seems to be a trend in Nigeria where someone doesn’t have a job or money but is planning a vacation to US or Canada paid for by someone else.

As a visa officer my question will be if you only have N20k in your account how logical is it for someone to spend eg N500k on your vacation?

If you choose to go ahead provide her financials to show she can afford having you over and a letter from her stating same. Fill out the application and see how it goes.

My family friend plans to invite me to Canada for about 4 months - Visiting visa. I stayed with her for over 5 years before she relocated to Canada.
She currently has a Job in canada and is also a PR.
She said can sponsor me.

The problem is we dont think her letter of invitation, her bank statements would be enough to convince them to give me 6months visiting visa.

I have no links (not married, no one to sponsor me from Nigeria neither do I have the amount needed for the trip in my account) she plans to plan to pay for the trip and all.

So we dont waste money applying for Visa, how best i can be approach this.

Your advice would be appreciated please.

Don't wait for the US. If you truly believe it works, test it locally and use for your own people.

Also given it's a flu virus, there can't be a cure but more a vaccine to prevent the spread same as other flu vaccines. All indications show that most people will recover from this virus, aside those who have compromised immune systems such as the elderly or people already suffering from other underlying issues etc. The average healthy person will recover.

At that level it's not easy to fight too often. It will cheapen the fight value as you can't be selling PPV 10 times a year, also impact ticket sales. It's also a lot difficult to set up fights at that level with the way top fighters are aligned to different tv networks, different agencies, different boxing sanctioning bodies, politics etc.

Also if you are making upwards of GBP20m a fight, why would you fight more often and increase the risk of brain damage which means you end up not enjoying your money.

You can compare it to luxury cars v non luxury cars. Normal cars will be produced in larger numbers to increase sale while luxury cars will be controlled to increase demand and maintain the aura of luxury. If they produce too much it will cheapen the brand and make it hard to sell at higher prices.

Not necessarily, with the free movement of people across the EU, it's very very easy for such diseases to cross borders very quicky especially as it is undetected and unknown during the 2 week incubation period.

And looking beyond the EU with globalization and increased airline travel it easily spreads to other countries as we eg look at the polls who attended a conference in Singapore and spread it to a few countries.

First you only pay the so called bastard US tax if you earn high amounts abroad. You are required to file taxes from abroad but it doesn’t mean you will owe taxes. Secondly if you renounce your are not subject to the bastard US tax anymore so just go ahead and renounce since you hate the US so much. And I don’t mean the I’ll move to Nigeria but keep my US passport in case move. I mean give it up officially and fully immerse yourself in Nigeria since you hate the US so much and believe so much in Nigeria.

You say it’s so bad for our laptops to be monitored, that’s why I keep saying move to Nigeria, contact the US embassy to renounce your citizenships. at least in Nigeria it’s only SARS that will seize your laptop and phone and if you bribe them they will leave you.

What exactly are you hiding on your phone and laptop that is driving you nuts to this extent? You better focus on the sensible things you have control over such as career an educational choices, invest for you and your families future instead of crying that government is monitoring your phone. And while they monitor for certain words that can then flag you for enhanced tracking, they are not sitting there listening to every single word osazuwa says on his phone or every porn site he watches on his laptop. I doubt you are that important.

Maybe if the Nigeria government had the ability to monitor, we would find it easier to deal with Bolo Haram and other security issues we face, oh wait basic emergency numbers for the police or fire brigade don’t even work so how can I expect them to monitor people duh.

It’s very simple, renounce your US citizenship, tear up the passport and move to Nigeria. I did some research for you and you just need to move and appear at the US embassy in Lagos and they will process it for you.

I see where you are coming from and I also feel the US should interfere less in other countries issues but the fact remains it is not possible e.g. the worse the Venezuelan situation becomes the more it impacts the US e.g. where do you think most the people fleeing Venezuela go? The US.

When the region becomes unstable, the US bears the brunt of the effort and cost it takes and I aknowledge the US also causes some of these issues. The US interference in Europe has played a huge part in peace over many years after WW1 and WWII. Same in Asia etc. I will repeat again I know sometimes the US also cause some of the issues or leave it worse e.g. Iran etc so I am in no way saying they are innocent or perfect, but saying the US should totally stay away also has repercussions some of which can be significant and huge.

The US's interference to force Japan to be pacifist in return for the US providing security could have changed the way things are in Asia today. Japan was crazy when it came to war.

Having a military presence across the world benefits the US as a world power, but if the US were to pull those military bases many countries will have to significantly increase defense budgets it will not be funny and it will result in significant changes in the balance of power in these respective regions. Not saying it would be worse in all cases but there will definitely be significant changes.

Anyway long way of saying I also want the US to mind it's business and focus on investing inland but I also recognize it's easier said than done.

Any immigration reciprocity will affect Nigeria born Americans more than other Americans. You may not be aware but a lot more Nigerian born Americans apply for tourist visas instead of Nigerian passports compared to Americans applying for Nigerian tourists visas to holiday in Nigeria.

If you target business visas Nigeria will suffer as well as we are already experiencing fall in foreign investment.

Instead of coming together to say let’s fix our country so we have a higher standard of living and less desperation to travel to other countries, we would rather focus on finding other countries to travel to until we become persona non grata there and keep finding more and more countries.

You read some posts on Nairaland about traveling to some random countries and you’re just amazed at where we are as a nation.

We are spending way more money as international students and for medical tourism in other countries than we spend developing o it own educational or medical sectors and yet we continue with no long term vision.

Unfortunately, the only option I see which is quick is and cost efficient is via marriage. If you were her real brother she could sponsor you but that takes a long time, possibly up to 10 years depending on the category you fall.

Or get her to invite you for a visit visa and as some people do try to find your way. I do not recommend this approach as it's a tough life trying to live as an illegal immigrant, but it is an option. Or if she can sponsor you to come as a student, this depends on her financial capacity and if her desire to have you in the US is enough for her to spend the significant sums required

It is expensive to sponsor a work permit hence why it tends to be larger companies who do so rather than smaller ones.

Secondly it will be very difficult for a small realtor firm to prove that she needs to bring in the skills she needs from Nigeria ie she cannot find someone local to do the job. Such jobs need to be advertised for a minimum amount of time and lawyers prove they can’t find someone in the US to do the job.

After all that the application process is pretty much a lottery, there are only 65k H1b visas a year and it’s always over subscribed with about 200k or more applications from all the numerous consulting and outsourcing firms especially those from India.

If you manage to get through all that how will the conversation at the embassy go? That you are an expert on the US realtor market (despite no license etc) and you are the only one who can do the job? Also realtors are licensed in their respective states so I don’t see how you can prove you are an expert from Nigeria.

Trust me the chances are so slim to none.
