Yes you can be refused if you have certain transmitable diseases which can easily spread in Canada. It doesn't necessarily mean automatic rejection depending on the case but it can ultimately lead to refusal. olajigaolamide: |
Racism and the demand of STEM courses are two very different topics so not sure why/how you have combined them. The reason people advise you study STEM courses is because there is more demand for such skills compared to social studies courses. As you know most countries are experiencing a boom in technology innovation and development, so countries like the US, Canada etc need engineers, scientists to meet growing demand. Not to say you cannot get a job with a social sciences degree, you can but at the moment there is a lot more demand for STEM skills so as an immigrant who needs sponsorship it's easier to get a job and sponsorship with a STEM skill where demand outweighs local supply compared to a social science degree where local supply outweighs demand. But it happened under Zuma, this issue has been going on for years now. Sunofgod: |
I disagree that there can only be resistance against illegal migration, there is already growing resistance against legal migration in Canada as liberal as they are and such changes have to be carried out over time and with sensitivity. Even legal migration has an impact on demographics etc and brings both good and bad so there will always be a threshold at which people will push back and that applies to black, Asian or white countries. That’s part of the rise in right wing politics across Europe etc with people rightly or wrongly feeling that they are losing their identities end jobs etc to migrants. This has always been and will always be. iaatmguy: |

The more the demographics change the more resistance from the people. Even us in Nigeria had our Ghana must go moment, any society will push back at some point including Canada. DexterousOne: |

Did you read the article at all or just jump on the it must be racism train? To summarize for you they have increased their visa fees to match what the Nigerian embassy charges US citizens for Nigerian visa. If the Nigerian embassy can charge $180 why can't the US embassy? It is US govt policy to apply reciprocal visa fees and they raised this with the Nigerian govt nearly 2 years ago but nothing changed. Lawancy: |
They are not charging what they like, they have matched what Nigeria is charging US citizens which means they were charging less than the Nigerian embassy in the US before this hike. gypsey: |
Like I mentioned in my first post, the chance of getting a job from Nigeria with a company who is able to sponsor you is very slim and requires having highly in demand skills that they cannot find locally. The person cannot just offer you just any job, it needs to meet certain requirements of the type of skilled or managerial level jobs for a H1b work visa and also he needs to show he has looked locally and cannot find someone who can do the job. It's also expensive and requires lawyers so it's not just something he can do by offering you a low type job. Also there are only 65k work visas available each year, and the demand far outweighs supply and is dominated by the large IT type companies. Another option is to get a job in Nigeria with a company that has offices in the US and after a while see if they will transfer you to the US office. brume24: |

And Dangote is busy trying to buy Arsenal ![]() To be fair, the fact he spends money on luxury doesn’t mean he doesn’t give to charity. PhenomenalMorgan: |
You can only be sponsored by a relative and even that depending on the category can take a long time. The quick alternative is via marriage so if you are this guy are more than friends and are in a relationship, marriage is an option. Aside that is to get sponsored for a work visa which is very difficult from Nigeria. Actually when you say he is willing to sponsor your trip is that via a visit visa to hussle? The options I listed above are for permanent residence. brume24: |
Yes they were planning to go. topysean247: |
If God blessed Nigeria, this talented doctor will be practicing in Nigeria with world class equipments rather than in the US. That way maybe our dear president can stay at home for treatment rather than travel to London Everytime. Gallantfortune: |
Said by who? Left wing media with no proof? genq: |
Same way he was close to Clinton and many many other influential and powerful people so why specifically accuse Trump and ignore the others? Really the age difference between Trump and Melania is the proof he slept with underage girls? I guess Macron who is married to his grandmother sleeps with Embryos in the womb. realestniggah: |
Please stop being so one sided. He had links with many many rich people including Clinton so why focus on Trump alone? He and Trump fell out ages ago hence no recent photo of them. Just recently one of the girls he abused confirmed some Democratic Party party officials were involved yet all you can say is Trump Trump Trump, give it a rest. Obviously some powerful people are involved in his death, but making such biased Liberal accusations only make it difficult to get to the bottom of it. I’m sure the Democrats will find a way to turn it into another Russia investigation while ignoring any way it implicates them. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailywire.com/news/50466/breaking-jeffrey-epstein-accuser-names-multiple-ryan-saavedra%3famp realestniggah: |
When you say he got an employment offer, you mean from Nigeria? If yes he should be careful of scams as if he is going on a work visa as you claim they cannot force a commitment to remain after he gets his permanent residence. Also have they confirmed how they will get him a work permit? keleto: |
Well stop looting ![]() somehow: |
While I agree the liberals have done a lot of damage, I don't agree with labeling Boris as far right. This is a classic liberal tactic supported by the liberal media to label everyone against globalization or with opposing views as far right which is just not true. The other tactic is to claim racism, fascism, Nazism etc which shuts down discussion. djon78: |
Hahah the guy has cut his hair recently and lost weight, use his latest photos loool. I do like Boris though despite his eccentricity. hisexcellency34: |
You realize most of the young girls who’s lives he has destroyed are black right? I’ve been hearing these stories about R Kelly since my teenage years, Aaliyah etc so sorry karma has caught up with him. GMbuharii: |
Those are very different circumstances and I think she should have planned her trip better rather than expect at night and expect the embassy to house her with no advance notice or agreement. I agree the Nigerian embassies abroad are nothing to write home about but in this situation she is in the wrong. Assange is a different circumstance as he was on asylum and that doesn't mean every Ecuadorian who goes to the embassy will be given a room to sleep. Also let's assume you are right embassies should provide room to sleep, what if there was someone already in the room and she arrives without any confirmation? Should they kick the person there out for her? gypsey: |
I agree. What was her plan given she arrived at night? Obviously she wasn't planning to sleep at the embassy. ifyalways: |
I wouldn’t exactly call it low as it’s 189 v 183 countries that the SG/Japanese passports can enter visa free and they are most likely not countries the average American is interested in visiting. For the countries that matter all the top passports give access visa free eg one of the reason Japan jumped in the rankings is because Pakistan gave visa free access to them but not US and regional relationships also play a role here. thesicilian: |
It's interesting that everyone is angry at Trump for not letting them into the US illegally, but not angry at the leaders of the countries they come from. Can any of you name the Presidents of El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras without googling their names? Why do they get a pass yet everyone blames Trump? You also know what Obama also blocked them coming in, I can find you videos of him saying DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THE BORDER, IT IS DANGEROUS AND THEY WILL BE SENT BACK. While I sympathize, the fact is they were migrating to the US for economic reasons and the US asylum laws are not for economic reasons therefore they do not qualify. Everyone moving to the US is not the solution to the problems these countries face and the crisis at the Southern border is now so bad even people from Africa etc are now trying to use it to get in. This is similar to the way people were dying trying to cross the desert and sea to get to Europe. Love Trump or hate him, it is not sustainable for that number of people to come through the borders, it is just not possible and you have Democrats using the situation to score political points and win votes. The same Democrats that claimed a few months ago that there was no crisis, suddenly there is a crisis but it Trump's fault, guess what even the President of El Salvador has admitted the fault is at home and they need to resolve this at home not push it to the US. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/01/world/americas/nayib-bukele-migrant-deaths.html To me the solution to this lies with working with the government of these countries so people are not so desperate to flee but I am wary if this will work due to the corruption in these countries. The US already gives hundreds of millions n aid yet more and more people are fleeing. Graduateacher: |
The news articles in the US did not specify he is Nigerian, Nigerian bloggers bringing it to Nairaland called out the Nigeria angle. Toks2008: |
What does the home office secretary being Asian have to do with this? I do hope she can sort it out as that’s where she grew up but the fact is her parents messed up. She claims she always though she was a British citizen yet she never applied for a passport until she was an adult which means she returned to the U.K. on a Nigerian passport. If they were so sure she was a British citizen as they claim why did she travel to the UK on a Nigerian passport and then wait over 20 years to apply for a UK passport. The change in law that affected her was enacted during Thatcher days and says at least one parent must be a British citizen or permanent resident for the child to get citizenship pretty much ending birth right in the U.K The fact she has lived there 30 years does not give her a right, but it should count towards humanitarian leniency. jrusky: |
