I know for sure that the spirit was very active in their time as he is active in ours and I know that in the time of the apostles there was diversity of callings, grace and revelation but the body of Christ was not divided. Everyone used their various gifts within the fold rather than go of to form their own denomination.

I really do not believe God calls people to form their own denominations for there is no place in sacred scriptures (from Genesis to Revelation) were the Holy spirit inspired anyone to form his or her own denomination.
