Islam › Re: Islamic Names And Their Meanings by usermane(m): 10:14pm On Oct 08, 2013
PEACE TO YOU.
Those are not neccessary Islamic names. They are arabic names. There were muslims among the people of the scriptures and they didn't bear such names. Musa according the hebrew torah was Moshés, Isa was Yeshua/Esua according to hebrew gospel and many more. There were disbelievers with such names you guys already mentioned but on accepting isam, they didn't change their names.
We of course have to give ourselves beautiful names but beautiful names aren't restricted to arabic alone.
Islam › Re: How Authentic Is Hadith "I leave amongst you...The Book of God and my sunnah"? by usermane(m): 9:44pm On Oct 08, 2013
PEACE.
What about the hadith that goes thus "I have left for you the book of God, follow it and you shall be guided" Sahih Muslim Book of Hajj, i presume. We do remember that, don't we?. 'Sunnah, ahlul bayt,or hadith' was not mentioned here. This is something to ponder on. The prophet 's last sermon was witnessed by thousands of people as claimed, why then did it come in 3 versions according to hadith?
The Qur'an was recorded before the Prophet 's death, why was hadith left out? The first four caliphs, also did not record any hadith, infact they prohibited it writting or spreading and even burnt copies. So here we are digging at history again.
Islam › Re: Save Islam Against Propaganda by usermane(m): 9:00pm On Oct 08, 2013
Peace.
There is no unity among muslims in this section due to diffrences in islamic views. Also, to make matter worse there is no freedom of speech in this section.
Op, which propaganda? Most times when critics come here with good intentions, they get banned or their post/thread is hidden,so they eventually go somewhere else to rant. Pls look up Quran 4:140. If u meet meet people criticising, mocking or accusing your beliefs, u correct them with evidences and if they persist, u keep away from them till they stop. If you believe your system is perfect, you won't have any problem reading or hearing accusations or criticisms of it because u can easily refute the critics or disbelievers.

The problem we have here is convoluted. Saudi guys in so many ways are piloting islamic affairs world wide. Talk of hajj for instance. And what this video summarises is that a lot of things may have been kept hidden from muslims. This could just be a drop of the bucket. Well it is good u came up with the original post, we should be aware of the calibre of people we learn from, most particularly when it comes to islam. It might be too soon to draw conclusion, but jack, in every rumour, traces of truth could still be found. Got to investigate.

Ok, another sunni sect responsible for havoc and mischief? God willing, i will dig further to verify this, hard to believe they had a hand in Afghanista and Iraq 's fall. If it is so, how come we have been kept in the dark and all we know is the american government alone r responsible?

Salaam LagosShia. These salafis are muslims right?, then if your report is true where do they get their teachings from? I mean no where does Qur'an ask us go shedding blood. And saudi arabia having a hand in the whole conspiracy rings a bell. I learn't majority of saudi arabia is covered by sunnis

basilico: The wahhabi have effectively cheated the west that they are moderates and need support. We call that taqqiya. But say why do Shia kill Sunni in Iraq. Which the Main stream media report as sectarian strife? Why are Shia killing Sunnis in the whole of the Arab world? Revenge? So if its for revenge does the holy book justify killing innocents in another part of the world just because say the Burmese muslims are being killed by buddhists for instance?
Hello basilico. Do u still remember me on your thread in Aug,that was hidden?

noma beeee: Thi is anoda reason why its smart to keep ur feelings and emotions to urslf until u hv a clear read on his love for you.why is this crucial?bc whenever a woman takes the lead in a relationship, whether it is doing the caling, sugesting a date or professing love, the deviltakes ur gud intentions and turns them into wrong impressions lol.. Suddenly ,an impulsive move of gud will on ur part is interpretd as u closing in on him or chasing him.all doz cute cards, surprises, thougjtful gifts bcom a vise that threatens to squeez the lyf out of the interest he has in u.this trigers panic in hs hrt and he begins to fight for space in order to grab some control of the rlationshp.he needs to sort through hs feelings for u wtout ur help.umm I jst tink dz is d bst template to handle men..dnt jst hurry girl.u re a gud thing remember? So relax and let him take d lead
Sorry, but i cannot agree with u, you know that guys pass through the same thing. They shower you with gifts, acts of kindness and mercy with no strings attached but u reject them coldly. U play with their emotion and only love yourselves and you eventually break their heart.
No one is saying go asking guys out or making the moves carelessly. But hidding your feelings, holding back and refusing to initiate anything is unfair. If u don't trust him enough to ask him out, plan a date, or surprise him pleasantly then u don't love him in the first place.
Then if he doesn' t appreciate you or your good will, my friend find a more deserving guy. And am sure he 'll regret his ingratitude. Ingrates only value what they have lost. Love should be two sided not one sided.

ummsulaym: @usermane,
I don't understand your last comment at all... U even quoted my comment... I don't support Nigeria's constitution either and ofcuz, the way u described the male islamic dress code is indeed the way a muslim is supposed to be dressed... I don't really get your message but regardless of my disapproval for nigeria's constitution, i dnt see how that calls for killing or terming western education as a sin... Nigeria is not an islamic country, bearing that in mind, i endure their constitution...
Will appreciate if u make me understand the last comment though...
Ok, u said u don't know why boko haram are refered to as an islamic sect. Well i can tell u but it might hurt to hear it. Their true name is Jama at ahli sunnati liddah wati wal jihad( The people dedicated to prophetic sunnah and jihad ), pardon me for transliteration error though. U know the ahlul sunnah or sunni sect that make up 75% of muslims worldwide, well then boko haram is a subsect under it. And i would have loved to make myself clearer but there isn't enough freedom for speech in this forum, especially in this section, even though i don't mean any harm.
However, food for thought. You believe in quran and sunnah, and these boko haram also believe in quran and sunnah, then why the killings done in the namd of jihad by this radical sect in the name of God.

ummsulaym: No sane muslim will support boko haram doings... What do i care when i know that surely, they will be brought to account for all the innocent blood shed on judgement day... Islam forbids innocent and unjust killings and that's what i learnt from my Qur'an and hadith... Well, people can believe otherwise but as for me and my family, it's a 'NO' to BOKOHARAM!!!
Ok wait, let us look closely. I had a cousin back in 2008/2009 who lived with a community of muslims in maiduguri. He told me they keep their trouser length far above their ankles, keep full beards, observe abaya or niqab strictly, learn arabic, memorise qur'an through the nights, observe their salat promptly, i mean promptly, their interaction with opposite sex is minimum to nothing. I used to b impressed with such kind of muhammedan attitude, but that 's the old me. These are the kind of muslims we praise today, the kind of muslims we ask our children to imitate and learn from. They had their own set of beliefs and western education, they despised a lot hence their name- 'boko haram'. My cousin mentioned that this very community organised a murderous rampage one morning after their Fajr prayer. Their motive - The constitution of Nigeria is unislamic and no true muslim should accept it, hence sharia must be established at any cost. And that was the start of Boko haram.

Think what u want, boko haram is born out of the failures of muslims in general, it doesnt matter what any imam or sheikh says. The non muslims oppressed by boko haram retaliate on muslims whether they(muslims) share the same view with boko haram or not.
Boko haram started with targeting security forces and goverment agents, then christians, then random people, then muslims and now students.
And regarding what you have learnt of the hadith, i could bet you ain't seen anything yet. No offence is intended please.

Here we go again. I hope the moderators don't move this thread and i don't offend anyone. The boko haram killings have got worse so far, even more gruesome than the past as they now prefer to slaughter than shoot the helpless victims. They 've attacked even schools slaughtering students. OH MY LORD, I SEEK REFUGE IN YOU FROM THE WICKED.
The Sharia these people claim they want have nothing to do with any of the scriptures of GOD.
42:21 Or have they partners who has instituted for them a religion which GOD has not ordained...... And verily, for the polytheist and wrongdoers is a painful torment.
Who will believe they are not true muslims, from their dressing, their eloquence in Qur'an and arabic, their loud chanting of 'Allahu akbar' as their killings are done, their continous quoting quranic verses and hadith to justify their mission. To the boko haram you either support them or you are a disbeliever( no such thing as i am a muslim but i don't support boko haram), u r either for them or against them,no middle path. In the end lies the sad fact that the boko haram is borne out of Muslims deserting the WORD OF GOD, for other teachings as 25 : 30 quotes and will only be terminated if they return to Final Scripture of God.
25:30 And the Messenger will say; O my Lord! Verily, my people have deserted this Qur'an.

k2039: The worst university in the world to attend is the 'UNIVERSITY OF HOPE'. Rarely do people ever graduate.

Hoping that a girl who is with another man (good or bad) will finally come back to you is synonymous to waiting for a ship in an airport or waiting for an airbus in a harbour.
K2039.... Children know well that one day, mummy and daddy that day will pass on,why do they still hope that the D- day nvr come? People get sick to the point of death, where even the doctor believe that the patient 's death is inevitable, yet the relatives still continue to hope the patient survive the bout. People are declared dead all of a sudden, yet their loved ones still go to verify, touching, carresing or even speaking in tears to the corpse hoping that there is still an atom of life left in it. Such is hope my friend, and in case of love it is stronger.
I know i sound pathetic, am not ashame to admit that. If you have ever being the sufferer of unrequited love you can hardly blame me.
What is your story man? Am certain the ending was sweeter.

If i tell u my unrequited love story, u will understand my opinion better. Hoping and praying that one day,u will be considered more than a friend, you will be hers and the future will be the happiest man on the earth, but year after year of day dreaming, it only get worse. U have no better option than to go back to your bedroom and cry yourself to sleep because love in most cases isn't sweet. It is bitter. Because one day,you had to say 'bye',you had to watch helplessly as the only girl very dear to your heart had to finally move on, the girl of your dreams for 5 yrs is finally gone and your heart is completely shattered. 5 good years of your life wasted,5 years of rejection and dejection, an half decade of your existence destroyed. U feel broken, you lost in the end big time and that won't change. Now, you v lost everything, the dream, the hope, the friendship, did i say everything? And I must date and marry a good gurl. I will be patient no matter what and be on the look out.
It is no secret that good people have it hard in this world but patience will pay. Just work harder towards perfection, never look back towards being a bad guy. Just like genuine nice guys are scarce, also genuine nice girls are much scarce when you look beyond face value. The so called nice girls that dig bad guys may not neccesary be nice, and a lot of 'em still have a long way to go.

The ideal nice guy is one who has some confidence, not a doormat, considerate, selfess/generous,patient,humble,highly moral and ambitious. This is the kind of guy, i aspire to become. But even with the above qualities, most girls still will call you 'too cheap' or 'too nice' , rather prefering the cold, immoral, selfish, cocky and arrogant kind of guys. The ones who wouldn't hesistate to start a fight, who wouldn't admit their fault, who find it hard to say 'sorry','thank u' or 'please',who put their want before others' need, who are willing to cheat, manipulate or victimize someone to get what they want, and who don't give a damn about morality. Of course these kind of guys may still have some attractive qualities like wealth, looks and energy and assertiveness, but these qualities aren't restricted to them alone.
SHOW ME YOUR FRIEND AND I WILL TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE. People don't date a good person but who they really are.

maclatunji: ^The principle behind moderators hiding threads is simple. If a thread is offensive to Muslims, it will be removed.

In addition, all moderators are obliged to move threads about Islam and Muslims to this section.
But the thread you hid wasn't abusive to islam neither was it offensive to muslims. At least those who read beyond the OP or first page will admit this. I tried proving basilico claims as wrong in a Quranic style, in a civilised debate fashion but it turned out that you guys weren't seeing things that way.
I know it is too late to cry when the head has been cut off but, is this how the section is going to continue?, Truely this isn't how to propagate one 's faith and this is how the Catholic Church started. One should be open to critics, that is the system of GOD, Qur'an 2:256. GOD even gave satan the freedom to lead men astray!. I just hope even few of us can eventually accept the Undisputable Word Of GOD : QURAN and set ourselves free.

Long time Mr. Mac, and pardon me for being suspicious of u alone, now i know Miss Deols is also a moderator here, hello miss, this also for you as well. And inspite of a couple of shortcomings here and there, you guys atleast deserve some gratitude.
Moderators, why did you delete the thread 'HOLY QURAN 4:3 POLYGAMY AND SEX SLAVES IN ISLAM', why? I shouldn't be here anyway but your last post drew me in, Mac. My effort has been in convincing the more tolerant moderators at general religion section to stop shifting all islam related threads from there to here. Because such threads would be more appreciated there than here. Here, i don't know where application of Qur'an 2:256 lies.
So please and please, Mr and Miss, Alhaji and Alhaja, Muslim and Muslima, Maclatunji and Deols, stop deleting offenceless threads or comments only because u disagree with the content. U wanna be moderators?, well u got it, so do your job as one who acknowledge GOD.
PEACE!

I will go complain in the general section. Honestly i believe to solve it all we should A : dissolve the Islam for muslim section and have one general religion section that belong to everybody. B : Or else the Islam for muslim section should accept any topic that has to do with Islam or muslims as long as the post is not abusive.
The latter option is currently in effect but so far,the moderators have demonstrate varying kinds of injustice and so the former option would be better regardless of whatever we say.
Christianity Etc › Re: Religion Complaints Thread (sticky) by usermane(m): 11:32am On Sep 30, 2013
InesQor: Moderator, the REAL problem is that any Islamic or Muslim-related topic that one creates in the GENERAL section (where freedom of speech is allowed, yes?) will be MOVED to the Islam section (where there is no freedom of speech, no?) and then the thread is deleted or the post is hidden.

So it is thus clear that there is no freedom of speech in the general religion section as well!

P.S. I expect you to delete this post as well as you have deleted other recent posts of mine on this thread. This is a complaints thread and you're hiding the complaints?
Truely that is my point. This section is a general one and so i believe that different religious topics could be opened here. Not all muslims have peculiar views with those in Islam for muslim section. And trust me a lot of muslims have been suppressed threadwise by the mohammedans in that section. Any nairalander knows best where his thread will be tolerated or beneficial and hence why some islam related topics opened here should not be transferred to islam for muslims. In the end, except this is done a lot of nairaland would be denied their right to express themselves. And that translate to no freedom of expression in the entire religion section or nairaland as a whole.
Christianity Etc › Re: Religion Complaints Thread (sticky) by usermane(m): 10:50am On Sep 30, 2013

And i really wish to appeal to you guys. Please, i beg of you, stop moving every thread that has a thing to do with quran/Islam to the so called Islam for Muslim section. Thanks a lot.
Christianity Etc › Re: Religion Complaints Thread (sticky) by usermane(m): 10:49am On Sep 30, 2013
Complaining at the complaint thread in islam for muslim section is a mere waste of time as the whole section belong to the moderator and his likes who see nothing wrong my thread getting deleted but everything wrong in me complaining. And that is why i am seeking attention here. To tell the truth Seun wanted to create an Islam section but am afraid he didn't create one. He succeeded in creating a section for a particular Mohammedan sect known as the sunni or ahlul sunnah. Giving an entire section to sunni and labelling it as Islam for muslim section really suck away the coolness & piety out of Islam. The sunnies(members of ahlul sunnah) have bcome the judge, jury and executioners of this section piloting the affairs of the section as they wish. Through this, they have deleted innocent threads and posts and banned innocent posters for no justifiable reason. That section should rather be called 'sunni for ahlul sunnah' not 'Islam for muslims' because they do not acknowledge God, but merely pay lip service to HIM, discriminating against persons like me for my firm belief in GOD and his scriptures. It is true that we all agree not to insult each other 's belief or system but we are not not illiterates, we ought to tolerate constructive criticism and probing of our beliefs by others,we must be open to challenges and resort to proving ourselves right with critical, verifiable proofs rather than resorting to insults, deleting of posts/thread or banning. We must be open to new ideas and information and put ourselves in other person 's shoe.

Peace to you.
Am here to complain of the lack of freedom of expression in NL religion section especially the Islam for muslim section. To be frank,i am sad, i haven't been in NL for no less than 31.333 days because something unfair was done to me.
A thread i was commited to, even though i wasn't the OP, was deleted not because anyone was unruly but due to mere difference of belief. It was a real sad day for me and i will clarify.
Back last month, basilico(christian) opened the thread 'HOLY QURAN 4:3 POLYGAMY AND SEX SLAVES IN ISLAM' in the general religion section but would be moved to Islam for muslim section. On this thread i have a few decent, tolerant, civilised and educative debate with Basilico and couple of xtians without any rude or insulting remark surfacing on any page of the thread. But out from nowhere, a moderator most likely the infamous maclatunji deleted the whole thread without a reason, hence denying the thread members of finishing what we started and other nairalanders the priviledge of learning anything from the thread. Quite Unproffessional of the moderator, wasn't it?
