TravelRe: Foreigners Sit On The Floor At The Airport In Lagos Due To Lack Of Seats by uuzba(m): 5:01pm On Jan 14, 2019
ogongogames:
As some have noted this is not a big deal abroad (sitting on floor at airports). However let this not distract us from the point that MMIA is below-par for the passenger-demand requirements. It was commissioned in 1979! and I don't there has been any talks of an building an additional terminal or extending the current one. In my opinion it would have been better looking into extending MMIA rather creating a new national carrier.
If people can sit down and table all their problems in a meetings, surely we can work out what priority comes first and slowly overcome such foolish errors like this above. But such tabled meetings are what Nation Building is all about. Right now, me I want nation building. But it is left to each one of us to state inside their heart if they want nation building or not. English is currently our uniting language. It works well here on this website. Any other language will instantly create confusion and disunity.

My brother, the main issue is an airport says a lot about a country. It's the window shop.

MMA has too few seats. I guess it is so because it's Nigerians who primarily use it. So our authorities like to torture us and make life as uncomfortable for citizens as possible.

When I travel to other countries, I get to seat in comfortable chairs in their airports. They are not making me a demi-god but just providing a good service because they know what they are doing. They want me to come and spend more money in their country next time. Countries like Morocco & Tunisia with little resources are better developed than Nigeria. They have carved out a good tourism niche for themselves.

EU and other Western citizens can pick up their passport, buy a ticket and go spend the weekend in Morocco & Tunisia. No visa needed. But Moroccans & Tunisians need visa to visit EU. In so doing, Westerners frequent these countries and spend hard currency.
The cost of a Nigerian visa alone is enough to travel from Frankfurt, London or Brussels and stay two nights in Morocco or Tunisia.

We must banish this defensive mentality and unnecessary pride so that we can use sense & good customer service to extract hard currency from Westerners. NOT just oil & gas that will run out someday and even pollutes Niger Delta, costing livelihoods.

A big economic sector can arise around tourism. Just provide more security & infrastructure nationwide. And tourism will help further reduce poverty and unemployment.
The money we got from selling crude oil (etc) should have been used to set up our industries. But due to inferiority complex a group of idiots decided to use that money to purchase finished goods, shoe, watch, phone, cars... Now the country is flooded with finished goods but jobless graduates and thieves and criminals all trying to grab a hold of the foreign currency. No one thinks about doing Good things becuae they are good. As you stated, the airport is a welcome window into a country. Common sense will dictate that one prepare such a place to a high standard to the comfort of the expected guests. But too much criminal and greedy mindset (shoe, watch, phone) cannot allow buiding contractors, and government itself to have these as their ideals and goals.

They already knew things were bad in Nigeria before coming here. I just pray that when we tell them we are an English speaking nation, we are able to speak the English properly without shelling and foolish spelling errors. The way you speak determines how your listeners treat you.

How can you lose in your gambling, if you put God right in the center and middle of all your affairs? Aha!
Because many people wish to marry for SEXUAL and material reasons only. They totally push God out of their marriage, then expect wonders to happen.

My Experience....

My wife is not a Nigerian and Mom was afraid of I going for her after my Elder bro had also Married a Foreigner..

I would have listened to her but what kept me was that I heard Clearly from GOD on where I should go , which happened to be the Country of my wife Even when I had better Places to go ... That Privilege I had hearing From GOD Kept me...

Dad had little or problem agreeing as long as He was sure that I heard GOD..

it's being Great! Mum has Accepted wifey tho she still not so happy about it!
I am so Happy as We see The HAND OF ALMIGHTY GOD, who brought us together daily in our Home...

I Remember telling people that if I didn't hear GOD on my Marriage , I won't Marry!
My Advise to Anyone seeking for marriage is to Have an empty and open mind...
Tell JESUS CHRIST in prayer that you wanna marry.. ( don't give him a choice)
He will tell u your choice wherever He/She is..
As long as u have a Honest Mind
The creation of Nigeria as a country, is God's call to break uss out of our small-small villages and mix up with each other. Jesus died for all men - Everybody. He didn't select any village and his personal choice. All men. Your family learnt to extend love beyond physical boundry of Africa.
The problem with Nigerians is that no matter how much we love and cherish our village and culture, you will not carry it to heaven when you die. Just focus on loving as Jesus asked us to love and all will be well.

sacramento1212:
Agreed but can you also do justice to the aspect of Culture and tradition just as you did to language.
Without a common language we are completely disunited. Anybody marrying another tribe will need to find his own tribalistic reasons for marrying. And you know we have none. Our Chrisitianity has not entered into our cultures. So you can't say because you are both Christians. No way. Nigerians are Chrisitians in English and Juju worshipers in Native Language. This is how we decieve ourselves. And since each person's juju is different, different tribes will never marry. Marriage is a risk you must take into Christianity (Love one another as I have loved you). And this is closely tied to Education (all human beings are thesame). If you trust God, take the risk, show your faith and enjoy your marriage to another tribe person. Tribe does not matter. If you are still afraid; well it's not by force. But Jesus has called you to love one another as he loves all of us, without any exceptions, or excuses.

Yes, We lived in separate villages and kingdoms because we all never shared several things in common which also include language. As a country which to me is political but despite the mix up, culture and tradition differs among tribes.
To create a country, the first thing the British did was to establish a common Language amonst us. English.
English used for writing, for TV, for Radio, for Newspaper, Church.... Those who keep refusing to learm or speak the English are in a permanent state of protest, suspicion or fear. When the two families speak English, there's not much problem. English is spoken by persons who were educated in school. And once you are Educated, you learn that all human beings a are thesame. Black or white. What is still the reason for suspicion again when you and your fiancee know eah other?

But today wifey is her best daughter in law
Before Nigeria was created by oyibos, we lived in separate villages and kingdoms. The meaning of Nigeria is that we are all mixed up now. Anybody who is still refusing to mix up is part of Nigeria's problem. The politicians use this weakness against us.

Marriage is not personal but a family matter.

It is an abomination to marry without parental consent.

Afterall, the marriage is as much in the interest of your parents as it is yours.
So if your family is a racist family, you too will continue to be a racist?
You (Man) are the head of your own house. You and your wife are the ones to set the standard you follow in your new home.

How would you know all these to be true....and you started by saying you are sure...

Such a shame
I live in Lekki, many "fine" cars like this Honda. Every single day, many drivers are using at their phones right at the steering wheel, typing out whatapp, scrolling texts, with the eyes OFF from the road.
Because the car is air conditioned, with power options, automatic transmission and very comfortable inside. It's only statistics that a foolish accident will happen when people do this.
Overseas, it is an instant fine of £100 or more. But then again, they have CCTVs on the road to snap your picture as evidence. We can't do that in Nigeria because we just cannot get 24/7 electricity anywhere to power the CCTV.

I once tried unsuccessfully to put out the fire of a burning Audi. One very beautiful model like this shown in the picture below.
the car burnt totally to the ground. The driver was just crying. I asked what happened. He had mistakenly hit one useless kabu-Kabu (Opel or something) in front of him. Just a TINY BUMP. That was enough to set the engine on fire. And slowly the entire car went as well. This was in Ibeju area of Lekki.

Your discovery, coupled with the importance of a fire extinguisher should inspire you to go for a more trusted brand of fire extinguishers afterwards.
God forbid, but what if that emergency was on your car?

Kindly spread the word about your experience with a quack extinguisher, you will save lives in return.

I would've recommended trusted brands but, I no car, and no knowledge about fire extinguishers
The issue is that a very good extinguisher is sold in shoprite for about N4500 - N6000. The roadside fake ones are N1000 to N1500.

If somebody is using 1990 VW golf and buy a N6000 extinguisher. And you are driving a 2015 Toyota Prado that catches fire, do you really think he will stop and use his extinguisher for you? The money and runs that you made to buy the Prado jeep that you didn't share anything with the VW golf guy, you should have use it to buy N10,000 extinguisher as well. This is how Nigerians think. You can't oppress me with your fine car 24/7/365 and expect me to help you when trouble lands. It's only sorry the guy will say and drive off.

It is a crime of passion. No one knows what he can do until he is confronted with this situation.

Marriage is for the emotionally and mentally mature. One needs to be careful in chosing a life partner. This man just ruined his life because he made a wrong choise for a wife. You have no right over anybody's decision and you can't force someone to love and respect you. Once she said yes to an outsider (her ex), she already said no to her marriage. The sane thing to do is to release her from the marriage and don't do something you'd regret for the rest of your life.
When someone follows you to church to swear before God's alter, "Till death do us part", and seal it with a wedding ring, that is total covenent bond. You don't mess around after that bond is made.
Well, some can take a cheating wife, others cannot. You will not know which one you are until it happens to you.
Marriage is not dating.
