don't let him deceive u he has paid 70% of DAT money as tax. canada govt is not stupid.
How do you pay tax on relief fund? Stop consoling yourselves in Nigeria. In Canada if you are a low income earner you receive benefits especially if you have children of 16 and below. They are even giving $200 per child for online educational expenses. In Lagos, your average PAYE is about 21% of your income. I know because I worked there and was earning about six digits. In Canada, with an income of between 80K - $99k, your average tax is about 21%. Then when you file your tax in April, you could get refunds out that tax, especially if you put something out as savings. In Lagos, noone cares if your company over deduct your tax ... no refunds, nothing. Worse still the Naira is fallin5 in value like burning wax.

it breaks my heart when unpatriotic Nigerians rubbish efforts of Nigerian Army... our Army had many successful attacks on boko haram and they have paid the ultimate price in keeping borno safe to some extent.. Chad are now idolized for the single revenge attack
Yes, our troops are trying. But insanity is doing same thing for 20 years with same result. Let us try something different. The rank and file are as good but their leaders. If the leadership is corrupt, how can the rank and file succeed. Truth is Chadian soldiers are not better but they have GOOD LEADERSHIP. This is what Nigeria lacks.
Politics › Boko Haram: Why Can't we Just Employ Chadian Soldiers? by Validated(op): 6:58am On Apr 07, 2020
Why are we wasting billions of dollars on useless operations like Lafiadole instead of just employing Chadian troops for less. We all know that if you lack competence in any activity or event, you just have to employ experts or professionals to handle such for you. For about 20 years now the Nigerian Armed Forces have been overwhelmed by a ragtag Islamic Boko Haram. The latter have killed, maimed, kidnapped and destroyed towns, villages, communities, churches, mosques, schools etc . Infact beheading our troops have become their hobby.
Having decimated our troops, the same Islamic Boko Haram became emboldened to try it on Chad by killing 90 soldiers. That singular error has become their biggest undoing. Chadian soldiers are now pursuing the ragtag Islamist within our territory. While our troops hail them. Infact they are now releasing our soldiers held in captivity awaiting beheading.
On our part, we have been spending billions on this war without results except capturing the terrorists' flag and a few daneguse and motorcycles. Our soldiers take to their heels on sighting the terrorists and even when their commanders manage to visit the frontlines Boko Haram attack their convoy. Last time Buhari was in Bornu, the terrorists were bold enough to warn him NEVER to try it again. What an affront?
Whereas Chad have within one week routed the terrorists and captured their watehouse. Now Chad has placed a demand on Shekau to surrender or be killed. Great Chadian soldiers deserve ecomium and greater incentives. Hence I am calling on the Buhari led FG to let pride aside and accept the incompetence of our troops.
The FG should immediately engage Chadian soldiers to flush out these terrorist for a price that would be less thsn what Boko Haram demanded to release our brothers snd sisters in captivity. Operations Lafiadole, like other useless operations should be disbanded. In fact there is need to sack all officers above the rank of Major and allow new blood into the system. This ilshould not be exclusive to the Army but across all Security agencies. We need a rebranding of our Armef Forces. In the interim, we need to urgently engage Chad to help us flush these terrorist whilevwe rebuild our Armed Forces.

Dont mind them, so many Nigerians go the the food banks, even when there was no COVID19. Some even see poverty as a thing to be proud of. Pls I am not against visiting food banks if you really need it, but some see it as an opportunity to exploit the system as they do in Nigeria even when they can afford it.
What they fail to realise that these activities are on their consumer records and some organizations dig up this during background checks to compare with their resume and profiles they put forwsrd.

At least let them know to improve level of awareness. For example the whole of NE and NW excluding Abuja is thought to have just 1 case and SE have 0. How possiblehuh People in these states will just let down their guards and the virus will be spreading. You can just imagine the danger inherent in this approach..
Health › Coronavirus: Why Is NCDC Not Showing The Number Of People Tested? by Validated(op): 5:27am On Mar 26, 2020
The National Centre for Disease Control reportage of cases in Nigeria is suspect and lack transparency. I think that this is not the time for propaganda and misinformation or disinformation. Misinformation and the poor reportage make people to be lackadaisical and not take the pandemic serious.
A very vital MISSING information on the NCDC report is Number of Patients tested. The standard world wide is as follows

Number Tested xxxxx
Number of Confirmed Cases xxxxx
Number of Active Cases xxxxx
Number of cases resolved xxxxx
Number of deaths xxxxx

If you look at the NCDC report below, you would agree with me that Number of people tested is MISSING and this is a critical piece of information.
It is frightening to know that some states that may have cases would be living in fools paradise because cases that ought to have been detected are not and such individuals will be spreading it on daily basis.

A World Health Organisation (WHO) report indicated that as of March 22, 2020, Nigeria has tested only 152 persons with a record of (40 positive which represents 26%) while South Africa tested 15,500 with about (702 cases representing 5%). Extrapolating these numbers, you would agree with me that if 15,500 patients were tested in Nigeria just like it is in South Africa, the number would conservatively be between 2-3% or 300 - 450 minimum.

This deceit need to stop. Here is calling on NCDC to be open and transparent in the interest of all and not play politics with peoples' lives.

Health › Covid 19: Nigeria May Have More Cases Than Being Reported by Validated(op): 3:50am On Mar 25, 2020
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, has a case count of fewer than 50 coronavirus cases. But what’s become increasingly clear is that low number is not because the country has been lucky or particularly effective with preventing the spread of the disease—it’s more likely because local authorities are simply not testing enough people.

The latest available report by Nigeria’s Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) shows the country had tested only 152 people as of Mar. 22. That’s compared with South Africa which has conducted over 15,500 tests so far despite recording its index case a week later than Nigeria.

For its part, the NCDC has adopted a strategy of limiting tests to only people already showing symptoms of the disease or have come in contact with confirmed cases. It’s similar to approaches adopted in the United States and the United Kingdom but in comparison to those countries, Nigeria’s test numbers are far lower. The UK had tested over 78,000 people as of Mar. 22.

The slow pace of Nigeria’s tests is largely down to a lack of capacity. While it can conduct tests locally, Nigeria lacks the manpower or capacity to do so on a very large scale. Indeed, very few countries do: despite ramping up testing in recent days, the UK remains short of its 10,000 tests per day target. The danger however is that, unlike the UK, Nigeria’s public health infrastructure is starkly short on critical medical equipment and facilities to deal with a full-blown outbreak: there are reportedly fewer than 500 ventilators across the entire country.

Beyond low testing figures, there are also questions over Nigeria’s handling of the outbreak since confirming its index case at the end of February. Despite evidence that early confirmed cases comprised mainly of foreign travelers and Nigerians returning from high-risk countries, the Nigerian government did not move to limit incoming international flights until Mar. 23 following widespread calls from civic society groups. Several other African countries had adopted stiffer measures on international flights a week earlier to mitigate the risk of importing the virus.

While quarantine is mandatory in countries like Kenya, Ghana and Uganda for nationals and residents coming from high-risk countries, it has largely remained an advisory measure in Nigeria. As a result, health officials are scrambling for contact tracing after travelers on flights that arrived the country, in some cases as far back as ten days ago, test positive. It’s a task made more difficult by the reality that, without functioning databases for contact details, the government will largely rely on public service announcements to find possible contacts. Nigeria’s minister of health has already suggested it’s likely that infected persons are currently in hiding.

The seeming laxity of Nigeria’s quarantine measures have also been felt at the heart of Nigeria’s seat of power: Abba Kyari, president Muhammadu Buhari’s powerful chief of staff, has tested positive for coronavirus. His infection now raises questions about the status of top government officials as Kyari has attended several high-level government meetings since returning from Germany on Mar. 14 without self-isolating as advised

4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea,[a] to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

6 Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.

If push comes to shove buy chloroquine and azithromycin. Don't buy one and forget the other. Buy both.

Every system and in all political dispensations, there are enough spoilers and destroyers. The professional sabs stop at nothing to rock the boat even where the circumstances resist. There are people who hate progress and invent all antics to ensure progress is interrupted. Their only joy is when they cause confusion.

Nigeria has a fair share of such people. And unfortunately, they are also found in the corridors of power and they use such positions to pursue personalized agenda at the detriment of the nation. Nigeria’s most urgent challenge now is the insecurity.

But it is glaring that there is no meaning approach or suggestions to assist the President and Heads of Security agencies overcome the challenge of insecurity. Most Nigerians are out to weaken the attempts by the President to surmount our security challenges.

And the National Assembly has many of such Nigerians who are opposed to President Buhari’s stringent actions on security. I can argue conveniently and boldly with Nigeria’s best of political Socrates that since 1999 the National Assembly (NASS) has been Nigeria’s greatest incumbrance on the country’s progressive match to peace and prosperity.

NASS has consistently affirmed itself as the static and haunting nightmare of the country’s match to a stable or vibrant democracy, good governance and progressive development. Every evil plan against Nigeria is hatched through NASS. which they usually back with pristine laws.

The negative shadows of NASS are too overflowing and have overshadowed any modicum of respect or honour it has ever earned on credibility as an important institution of government in a democracy. I am not hesitant to say, NASS has marketed itself as an institution which also deserves an independent body to monitor it’s sinister and destructive activities in the nation.

The National Assembly is currently deliberating on a law Christened “Nigerian Armed Forces Commission Bill 2019.” The Bill is sponsored by Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe from Abia state. The law seeks to dissolve all the powers constitutionally vested in the President in hiring and firing his Service Chiefs. The powers which presently resides with the President is transferred to the Commission whose composition comprise politicians and National Assembly members.

It is difficult to understand the direction or intention of the proposed Bill. It is hogwash in every sense. It is the most senseless Bill ever contemplated in Nigeria or known to any country in the world. Outside its obvious aberration, I see it as a duplication hence existing laws already empowers the Senate to confirm Service Chiefs nominated by the President. So, what does the Senators want to do to Nigeria with that Bill?

What the Sen. Ahmed Lawan-led Senate is attempting to do by the Armed Forces Commission is to politicize and weaken the management of national security. It is a masked attempt to polarized the Nigerian military and make it susceptible to the mercy of politicians to recklessly manipulate. This is how we consciously embark on actions that are capable of destroying our country. The Senators themselves know that such a Bill is irrational and destructive to the security architecture of the nation.

But a lot of Nigerians are comfortably silent, because the darts are directed at a President they hate. But they have forgotten that President Muhammadu Buhari will not remain Nigeria’s President forever. Every Nigerian knows the Armed Forces Commission Bill will spell doom for the country if allowed to scale through the legislature.

The contents of the Bill overtly endanger the future of Nigeria because it is a sure way of polarizing the Nigerian Armed forces which will begin to function by the dictates of political parties and politicians. This is not permissible anywhere. We cannot leave sensitive decisions on national security in the hands of multitudes as the Senate is contemplating.

I am convinced that this is not justifiable. It surprises me that members of the Senate are hypnotized and hoodwinked by Sen. Abaribe into believing such a destructive and worthless Bill is worth their attention and energy to the point of debating. It is not possible for one nation to have two Commanders-In-Chief. The Bill seeks to create two Commanders-In-Chief for Nigeria. Where else is this aberration obtained?

Abaribe is a diehard apostate and an unrepentant agent of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). He is the Senator who took the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu on bail when every one else declined. He failed to produce Kanu in court on the appointed day, which betrays his total allegiance to IPOB. It is clear to me that Sen. Abaribe is the veiled official force of IPOB in government and the Senate. And therefore, he is using his privileged position to nourish IPOB’s agenda as evidenced by his contemplation of this absolutely useless Bill.

And we all know that the main agenda and determination of IPOB is to lead a war against the country. It has not given up on this ambition. And its agents like Sen. Abaribe are working in diverse ways to create fertile and unchallengeable grounds for the IPOB war on Nigeria. No one is in doubt as to where they are deriving their inspiration.

And the nonsensical Armed Forces Bill sponsored by Abaribe is cleverly crafted to weaken the power of the Nigerian Military in the event IPOB declares war on the country. It is honed to sow the seed of disloyalty to Mr. President among the Armed Forces when IPOB steps out again against Nigeria.

So, we are not going to allow Sen. Lawan and his cahoots to rubbish the Nigerian Armed Forces. If Sen. Lawan is blind to Abaribe’s prosecution of IPOB’s agenda, Nigerians are not blind to it. The Bill is a façade by Sen. Abaribe to feather the nest of IPOB. It is Sen. Abaribe’s drive for IPOB’s agenda to destabilize Nigeria. But we don’t think, it is correct for him to use the Senate as platform in promoting and emboldening the ferocious and criminal activities of IPOB.
