Health › Re: Covid 19: Close Markets; Stop Cash Collection Now by Validated(op): 12:44pm On Mar 22, 2020
For all those saying we cannot close markets, I will save this post for your reminder. By April 10th, I hope your perspective will remain the same. LASG have already sanctioned people gathering of over 20, so I am wondering how effective that would be if Oshodi, Odomota and othe big markets will oney such. I wonder how buses will not carry more people already infected. Note that the virus van be with a host for upto 11 days before symptoms begins to manifest at which time it will be diagnosed.
If Nigerians cannot stay home for 20 days, what happens in war time?? For your information, this is a wartime related experience. Better go and buy enough food for your families.
Health › Covid 19: Close Markets; Stop Cash Collection Now by Validated(op): 7:27am On Mar 22, 2020
On 17th of Narch I practically appealed that our leaders should shut our borders completely. Unfortunately, we allowed two coronavirus laden flights in on 18th. Some "patrototic" Buhaists said our officials are doing better than Europe and America. Well, it is now everywhere and the calamity was let in by our deaf and dumb leaders.

Now that it is already in, my advice is that Lagos, Kano, Abuja and all major cities should be on lockdown NOW! Not tomorrow, but immediately!!!

Secondly, advice people to limit if not possible to stop cash receiipts. COVID 19 is spead through cash notes as we have no coins.

Thirdly, close all markets. Stop bus services. Lockdown everything for next 20 fays for a start.

FEC should declare state of emergency across the country now. This is an airborne disease and let people start practicing social distancing.

Pls you can attack me if you wish, but this is the REALITY of this time. LET PEOPLE STAY AT HOME!

Jaqenhghar:
There were claims here that the response in Nigerian airports was even better than in the US and UK. That there was testing on arrival and forms were issued to know the movement of the passengers. When some of us pointed out that those efforts were not exactly effective we were hounded with plenty english.
Like I always say in Nigeria we have mastered the art of appearing busy and efficient with no tangible result to show for it.
My friend, I tire for Nigeria. On 17th, I posted a topic begging our president to shutdown our borders. Some pple that see him as lord and saviour were saying Nigeria was doing better than Europe and America in containing the scourge. Now we are seeing how good they have performed. This thing grows exponentially. It is now 22, just wait another 4 days, you might be counting 100. I am not a doomsday prophet.

No, we should be proud of our country and our skilled and professional brave men and women not only for treating and saving the life of the gentleman from Italy, but also for making sure that while the rest of the world is ballooning with infections and thousands of deaths, they made sure that our infection is one of the lowest in the world and with ZERO death.

This is not a miracle, it's hard work, dedication, sense of duty, patriotism and love of country, something many Nigerians lack.
How I wish this your statement will remain so by May/June. Recall Italy had very low rate in Jsn/Feb.

But they are managing the situation well nah
Which managing are you talking about? God just saved us that the Italian reported to the hospital himself. Did anyone know about it? If the man was not sick immediately on arrival, what would have happened?

India have since cancelled all visas, Canada has stopped all international travelers from entering Canada except citizens and Permanent Residents. Same is happening in US. EU have closed their borders for 45 days. Here we are talking of managing it well by allowing anyone come into the country. Our borders are as porous as basket ... anyway. God is a Nigerian!
Politics › Someone Should Beg FG To Shut Nigeria Border ... Pls!.. Pls!! & Pls!!! by Validated(op):
The whole world is on a lockdown especially countries with reliable and well managed health systems. From US, Canada, India, EU and many others have closed their bothers from international travelers. What is FG waiting for please! The way COVID 19 is ravaging developed world, and the kid-glove approach of our government gives one reason for concern. Currently, Nigeria is on a REACTIVE mode which should not be considering that WHO has since over a week declared a PANDEMIC. Please, we should rise beyond APC and PDP and tribal arguements and face reality. If this virus finds itway into our midst, I can only imaging.

The emboldened clearly explains the magnitude of the explosion.

Gas explosion na bomb o.

NNPC should take responsibility for this without playing any politics.

In the first place, structures whose failure can be this disastrous shouldn't be any where close to residential areas. Where they have been made, it is the responsibility of the corporation to prevent the occupation of such areas. Obviously, it failed in doing that.

Additionally, mechanism should have been emplaced to ensure that on no account should a truck or any vehicle be able to access the area, let alone anywhere close to the pipeline.

Now that NNPC has agreed with the loss, it should swing into action to compensate immediately. Though, lives lost can't be compensated, at least it should be mitigated.
sound judgement and correct assertion
Politics › Re: Gbajabiamila Begs ASUU, Lecturers Vow To Continue Strike by Validated:
Lawmakers should focus on Lawmaking. Meddling into ASUU versus executive arm of government issue is just a distraction. Question is what will their intervention yield? If ASSU call off the strike today, who says they will not start another next week?

What lawmakers should do is sit down and review the Act or law establishing ASUU, NMA, etc. Amend them and remove the rights or obligation for lecturers and doctor to join Unions. Make unionism optional and base their pay on union negotiated pay with cap or ceil that they cannot earn above. Make non-unionised employee compensation on salaries and scales up to highest civil service pay. Provide opportunities for non-union members to earn higher pay and other allowances on the aggregate than their union counterparts. In fact make union remuneration hourly based, such that if you do not work, you get no pay. Then introduce 360 degree assessment for lecturers with higher weighting from students, such that students rate their lecturers on quality of teaching, attendance, etc. Open up the system and introduce online courses such that lecturers in diaspora can also teach students in Nigeria universities.

These strikes amount to truancy and insubordination and it has reduced our institutions to advanced level secondary schools. Today, you see graduates that cannot express themselves, yet claim to hold a university degree.

Before you call me ZB. I am not a supporter of Buhari ,,, but out educational system have been long traumatized by these strikes to the extent that some African countries look down on our degrees. Enough should be enough!!!

This is like the judgement removing Lyon. Like Lyon, Oshiomhole never dreamt of this.

After this, Obaseki will go ahead and demolish his house in Benin because it was built on government land. Then his country home will be seized by Edo State government because it was a proceed of fraud.

My sincere advice to Oshiomhole is to go and beg the follwing:

i. Odigie Oyegun
ii, Oba of Benin

Then, these two will intercede for him in the court of Governor Obaseki (Oba does not go to the market), yet Oshiomhole does not know and he started dragging Oba to the market place.

If any, Osun case was miscarriage of Justice. Dismissing a case because of technicalities. The petitioner did not choose the justices neither was he responsible for the absence of the lead justices at the commencement of trial. So, why dismiss such a case and now you are reviewing all cases flawed by technicalities.

What is good for the geese should also be good for the ganders.
