aproko247: Report just reaching Aproko247 from a source at the Kaduna airport has it that another air disaster was averted on Sunday evening as a plane belonging to IRS Airline made a forceful landing.

It was gathered from the airport source that the aircraft's tyres refused to come during landing, which made the pilot to crash-land the aircraft. "The front tyres didn't come out on time and the pilot had to land the plane without its tyres out," the airport source informed us.

Aproko247 also reliably learnt that the plane was carrying passengers from Lagos to Kaduna.
"There was no casualty," the source confirmed the us.

Some days ago, a chartered Associated Airlines plane crashed in Lagos seconds after take-off, killing over a dozen persons.

This is really true about todays church-goers. For most of them, church is just a fashion house and not a worship house. Need i also say that nudity has crept into the church? Like Shaggy once sang, "Every Sunday is a Competition!" undecided.

Religion / Church Is Not A Show; Finding The True Purpose Of Sunday Service by vanstanzy(m): 8:02pm On Oct 13, 2013
Some people approach church in the same way they seek out new mobile phone carrier or cable provider. "Well, I'm just not getting what I need anymore. I think it's time to move on." If you approach church with a consumer mentality, you are selling yourself short. When the knowledge you hear in church remains between your ears and the worship becomes little more than a spectator sport, you are missing the point.

Politics / Again, Police Invite Senator Bukola Saraki by vanstanzy(m): 7:37pm On Oct 13, 2013
The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police has invited for questioning a former Governor of Kwara State and serving Senator, Bukola Saraki.
The Senator is to face detectives at the SFU Office at Milverton Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, one week from today on October 20.
A source said that the invitation was based on facts emerging from an unresolved fraud the former Governor allegedly committed during his tenure in office.
He stated that SFU detectives headed by Compol Tunde Ogunsakin, have already visited Kwara State and Joy Petroleum Ltd, one of the companies owned by the Senator.
During their visit, the officers obtained new information on how Saraki embezzled billions of Naira during his tenure as Governor.
Contacted, however, the Public Relations office of the SFU declined to confirm the invitation sent to Mr. Saraki, claiming that today is Saturday.

Celebrities / Re: Beverly Osu Wanted To Be A Nun by vanstanzy(m): 1:10pm On Oct 13, 2013
Cornel88: Background
I grew up in Surulere, Lagos. But I grew up like a boy! I am the last child and only girl in the family. I did not have toys and I did not know any Barbie story, all I knew was Voltron, a cartoon. I did not grow up with both parents. My father is a very simple man and he is somebody who can accept your mistakes. He does not spank his kids. Meanwhile, my mother is very strict. I could not even play outside as a young child. I had to ride my bicycle inside the sitting room. I attended Daughters of Divine Love Convent, Enugu State. I thought I would be a reverend sister but I abandoned the vision when I dropped out in my fifth year. I
finished my secondary education in a secular institution before moving to Babcock University. I could not finish from Babcock because I had some personal issues. Again, I dropped and enrolled at the National Open University.

My convent experience

It affected me in a very spiritual way. In as much as I know worldly things, I still fear God and have faith in Him. The reason why I wanted to become a nun was because I was raised in a Catholic home. I just felt it was the best thing for me to do at that time. I used to see myself as a messenger of God. Even though I did not become a nun, I still remain faithful to God. Part of my dreams is to establish a church and do a lot of charity work.

Me and Big Brother

I went there of my own freewill and spending time in the house has greatly influenced my lifestyle. I have
changed in a lot of ways. I am cutting down on friends because I have too many of them— home and abroad. Also, I have always been a very impatient person but staying in the Big Brother house has changed all that for me. The experience taught me to tolerate people because
a lot of them annoyed me in that house. While I was there, I learnt that good things come to those who wait. It was difficult initially because I was always conscious of the cameras but I had to live with it.

My affair with Angelo

I fell in love with Angelo. I am a very open person and I do not like to hide my feelings. The concept of the show was reality. Since it did not require pretence or play acting, I just became true to myself. Concerning the issue of sex in the house, I have said it many times that there was no sex involved. The bathtub incident was just blown out of proportion by the media. If there was a camera inside the bath water,
everyone would have clearly seen that Angelo had his boxers on. But I guess since I was the naked one, it was easy to rush to conclusion. Time will tell if there is a future for the relationship. Also, I believe relationships should be left in the hands of God. He decides when and who you can move with from one stage to another. For now, I can only say I had fun while the stay in the house lasted and right now, I am still having fun. I am a young lady. I have a lot going for me and so many things to be done.

Plans

Apart from continuing with my charity work, I will resume my video vixen role and feature in as many musical videos as possible. Also, I have plans to host talk shows and do some movies. But above all, I will continue to pursue my passion of dancing and modelling.

Style

I like simplicity in style. I am not a flirty dresser and the items that can never be missing in my wardrobe are bum shorts and tank tops. These are what I wear on a daily basis.www.punchng.com/spice/essence/i-wanted-to-be-a-nun-beverly-osu/
And what a fine Nun she would have been. Who knows?

Politics / My Life In Danger Over Article On Governor Yero, Blogger Cries Out by vanstanzy(m): 8:30pm On Oct 12, 2013
A blogger, Abubakar Musa, has cried out for protection, alleging that he has come under intense death threats for writing a critical article on Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State.
In a statement sent to the media, Musa stated that freedom of speech is now threatened in Kaduna State in view of the hatred of criticism of the governor by his associates.
As evidence, he cited various text messages in Hausa that he received from an anonymous number—08107875202—warning him from comments against Yero.
Musa said, “It is rather unfortunate that certain elements, at State and Federal levels, are bent on taking anyone that dares to ask questions or demand explanations regarding certain misadventures happening within their ranks. What we witnessed during the military era is fast resurfacing even as we claim to be practicing democracy. They’ve decided, in their usual manifestation, to attack the messenger rather than tackle the message.
“Within the faithful days of August 23rd to 25th, I wrote an article that was widely published and circulated by various platforms on the executive governor of Kaduna State, Ramalan Mukhtar Yero and his leadership style. While the article contained lots that the government should have cared to address, they’ve decided to throw spit at me. On Thursday, I received a call at about 10:30pm by a certain unknown number threatening to get me eliminated if I do not resist attacking their governor. Though the caller spoke in Hausa language, but I perceived a sense of deep literacy within his utters. Yesterday, Friday 11th October, 2013 at about 5:10pm, I got two text messages, one in English and the other in Hausa, threatening me as well (see pictures). Both messages confirmed what I was told by the caller the previous night. Initially, I was tempted not to report to any security agency because of the lackluster level of our security agents in handling investigative cases. But after consultations with various individuals, we decided to report to the nearest security outfit. Well, the threat was done, by whoever it was, to have me and my likes take our battle guns of challenging mediocre government down. But I will wish to inform them that the battle has just begun.”
Musa stressed that government is not supposed to be a personal affairs, and that citizens must ask questions.
“We must demand for answers and criticize, though constructively, we must not fail to do. My life belongs to no one but Almighty God, their threats and tactics of sabotaging progressive efforts will never work. I remain loyal and committed to seeing a responsible government that will have the interests of everyone at heart.”

Politics / Military, SSS Capture Top Boko Haram ‘commanders’ In Kaduna by vanstanzy(m): 1:24pm On Oct 12, 2013
An impeccable military source has confirmed to SaharaReporters that a combined team of Nigerian soldiers, police, and operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) has rounded up top Boko Haram ‘commanders’ after combing several locations in Kaduna State this week.

The source said the captured Boko Haram “commanders” were the brains behind a series of violent attacks carried out in the state in recent weeks. He added that they were caught as they planned to launch new attacks in the town of Kaduna during the Sallah festivities.

The military source stated that security operatives recovered extensive incriminating evidence from the captured leaders of the extremist Islamist leaders. “We got evidence from them to suggest their direct affiliation with Boko Haram and also that they were part and parcel of the recent attacks,” he said.

The source also disclosed that his combined team also captured several foot soldiers of the Boko Haram sect, adding that they were under interrogation.

The joint military-SSS raid that netted the Boko Haram members was carried out in the Rigasa District in Kaduna State.

“The operations brought us face to face to the reality that we must intensify our operations. We are using patrols and other strategies we will not talk about now to contain any plans by them [Boko Haram] during Sallah festivities,” the military officer said.

Last Sunday, suspected Boko Haram sect members ambushed a policeman. They shot him dead, and then escaped with his rifle.

Travel / Re: Pilots Were Arguing Before Agagu's Plane Crashed - Blackbox by vanstanzy(m): 7:45pm On Oct 11, 2013
L.M Ayedun..:
There appeared to be an argument between the Captain and the First Officer of the Associated Airline aircraft which crashed on 3 October in Lagos Nigeria and killed 15 people, the aircraft’s black box has revealed.

The readout of the black box ,also known as Cockpit Voice Recorder, CVR, conducted by Nigeria’s Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, in its Abuja’s laboratory revealed that the computer onboard the plane sent a warning message to the Captain, Yakubu Abdulrahman, shortly before take-off but he ignored it.

The First Officer then suggested to the pilot to abort take-off but Yakubu Abdulrahman proceeded and took off.

“The First Officer asked if the take-off should be aborted approximately 12 seconds after the ‘eight knots’ callout,” said Captain Mukhtar Usman, Commissioner Accident Investigation Bureau,AIB.

AIB said the pilot and the co-pilot discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure.

“The crew discussed some concerns about the aircraft prior to departure but at this time we are not prepared to elaborate on those concerns as there remains a lot of work to do to complete on the CVR analysis in order to determine the specific nature of the crew’s concerns,” said AIB Commissioner, Muktar Usman.

Usman said approximately four seconds after engine power was advanced to commence the take-off roll, the crew received an automated warning from the onboard computer voice which consisted of three chimes followed by “take-off flaps…take-off flaps.
“This is a configuration warning that suggests that the flaps were not in correct position for take-off. And there is some evidence that the crew may have chosen not to use the flap for take-off,” Usman said.

“This warning continued throughout the take-off roll,” Usman added.

“Approximately three seconds after ‘power is set’ call, the First Officer noted that the aircraft was moving slowly.

“At this time we can state that the Right engine appeared to be producing considerably less thrust than the left engine. The left engine appeared to be working normally,” Usman said.

Nairaland / General / Nigeria, A Tale Of Bad Roads. by vanstanzy(m): 3:19pm On Oct 11, 2013
The 5th of October, 2013, marked one of the most gruesome and excruciating journeys i have ever made on Nigerian roads. I was travelling from Lagos to Benin, and when the driver got to a certain junction in Ijebu, he stopped and told us, the passengers, that he would have to take a detour so as to avoid the vehicular stand-still being experienced on the express. The detour was supposed to be through Lopo Korede to a place called J4, where the bus would rejoin the express road at Ore.
The journey through Lopo Korede and other adjoining towns proved to be as worse. A journey of say an hour took five to six long hours to make. This journey through the villages saw passengers scrambling for the nearest provision stores they could find and basking in the shades too.
We, that most times travel by road are made to go through this hell, while our Government does nothing about our roads, but rather fly. Visit source for pix.

Politics / INEC Denies Recognition To Baraje-led New PDP by vanstanzy(m): 9:01am On Oct 11, 2013
The Independent National Electoral Commission has refused to recognize the Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The commission in a letter with reference number INEC /LEG/PDP/19/111.25 dated October 2, 2013 and signed by the Acting Secretary of the
Commission, U.F Usman insisted on the leadership of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as the authentic leadership of the National Working Committee of the
party.
The INEC letter was a reply to Mr. Baraje faction's letter to the commission, in which it notified the commission on the "change of leadership" within the party.
A former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola wrote the letter just as the commission's letter was also addressed to him.

Nairaland / General / Fred Ajudua’s $1.69m Fraud: Court Adjourns Again by vanstanzy(m): 9:09pm On Oct 10, 2013
Justice Olubunmi Oyewole of the Igbosere High Court in Lagos has again adjourned a $1.69 million fraud against Fred Ajudua. At today’s court session, Justice Oyewole adjourned the case to November 6, 2013. The adjournment came amid controversial claims by Mr. Ajudua’s lawyer, Charles Edosomwan, that his client was involved in ‘ongoing talks’ with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On October 2, Mr. Edosomwan had told Justice Oyewole that the accused, Mr. Ajudua, had opened an “ongoing talk” with the EFCC. He had also stated that Mr. Ajudua’s health condition had “nose dived.” The defense lawyer also told the court that the prosecution had been served with necessary documents regarding Mr. Ajudua’s said consultation with EFCC, but that he was not able to confirm whether the prosecutors had formally received the documents as of October 2.
Counsel for the EFCC as well as the defense counsel then agreed to an adjournment, confirming to the judge that October 10 was suitable for both parties and was enough time supposedly to resolve the “ongoing talks”.
But when the trial resumed today, the counsel to the EFCC, Mr. Olumuyiwa Balogun, made a stunning statement when he denied knowledge of any consultation between the accused and the EFCC. He told Justice Oyewole that the commission had not apprised him of any “ongoing talks” with the accused. Mr. Balogun specifically stated that the EFCC had not informed him of any consultation between it and the defendant.

Ikorodu is God-made land while Ajah-Epe axis is man-made land. Secondly, ajah-epe is like buying an expance of water instead of the opposite. So i would put my money on it.
