Very good. However, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty. I dare say that the government and its agents could be sued for libel and character defamation if they publish a list of corrupt individuals who have not yet been found guilty by a competent court. As for those that will comment on money returned, that is a good thing. But our constitution has penalties and jail terms for those who are found guilty. Governance and administration of justice have been separated in the constitution so that the government can not apply justice in which ever way it feels comfortable with. That is abuse! And PMB has sworn to uphold that constitution. So if he publishes a list of non-convicted corrupt persons, hope it starts with his name for fraudulently breaking an oath he swore to uphold. Dear PMB, I don't need a list. I need the corrupt ones sent to jail and proceeds of corruption confiscated. That is the only way to show that this fight is transparent and ensure that up and coming leaders take a cue; and traditional social morals are upheld. We need a strong system and not a strong man. Publish your list only when they have been found guilty, convicted and are rotting in jail. |
Inspectahdeck:Nigeria's are neither lazy nor greedy. Maybe your family or kindred, I don't know. But not Nigerians. |
It should be "...Billionaire's pretty daughter..." |
Op u be proper idiot. Exceptional Nonentity with no parity. Evil people that like to bring others down. |

Wow Montaque that was amazing. I'd say the pastor is a reasonable lady and its great it was resolved amicably. Perhaps, I can try this same approach if the situation persists. But knowing our ministers, most would probably go back home and pray for the death of those against their ministry- as in me. Pastor Ibiyemo during the 5 nights of glory program told us about someone that said he was disturbing the neighbourhood and he prayed the person should die and the person died. Lol. I don't wanna die. Lol. Or even worse become the object of some die die die prayer. On a more serious note, pastors and their congregation ought to show more responsibility to their host communities by ensuring they keep the sound level down. I wonder how people with infants deal with this. As for El Rufai, I don't know the content of his bill but if it includes license to preach or not, then it is wrong. |
I just came back from watching City-Madrid match. Now, it's been a long day and I want to sleep. But this church around the corner is having a night program. Frankly their activities are affecting my ability to sleep. Is it really right for the church to have these speakers that ensure the whole neighborhood hears their prayers and songs. I mean this is a residential area. People are trying to sleep after a long day's work. To worsen it, there's been no light and obviously no fuel to power the generator. Inverter is also down so I am forced to open my windows. Right now, the sound of the church program is all I hear and the distraction is not helping my sleep. Now is it fair for the church to do this? I'm a devout Christian, yet, I have the right to worship or not. The loudness of this program robs me of that. And that's not fair to me or other residents. Typically my neighbourhood is very quiet. So my question is - does being a religious organization give one license to deprive others of their rest? If a night club did the same thing, would it be okay since we are all equal under the law? Does the right of the worshipper supercede mine as a resident? Is there no way for us to co-habit peacefully without interfering in each other's lives. |
Op, ask yourself "what do I really want?" Therein lies the answer to your debacle. While you have succeeded in outlining the gains and uncertainties associated with schooling abroad, you have not quite captured the global economic crises, increasing unemployment in oil and gas, declining use of crude and fossil energy etc. so I will try to highlight a few points. First and foremost, the global oil and gas sector is in deep crises. Even the best of companies cannot guarantee your employment after the study leave. I work in oil and gas and one of my colleagues turned down a commissioner appointment because he wasn't sure his job would be there after the appointment. That's how bad it is. This is because these companies are looking for ways to cut as much cost as possible. While they may still need someone to fill your position, they would definitely save money by contracting the role out. Secondly, in the boom period of oil and gas, your company would not be your problem because you could get a job anywhere else. These days it's difficult. In the Middle East, some of those countries are carrying out the indeginization policy i.e. building their human capacity and resource by ensuring that a certain percentage of companys' human resource are skilled indigenes. For most of them it is a phased process so the impact is not yet obvious. I tell you that in a few years, many of our African brothers with jobs in ME may have no choice than to return home. I don't know about EU and Americas but I'm sure you would be second choice as long as they have citizens who can do the job. Finally, oil and gas industry has experienced its highest boom. It is now on a downward spiral. This is based on emerging technologies and concerns about the environment. In the next 20 years, you will see a continuous decline in use of fossil fuel. It will be the major source but other sources would also grow. What this implies is that the level of investment (drilling, exploration, development etc) would reduce significantly. This is because you would not need to replenish reserves as aggressively as was done in the past. Ofcourse, it may take hundreds of years for crude to be replaced entirely but a marginal decline in crude consumption and its resultant decrease in investment, would render a lot of people redundant. So, while I don't discourage you, it is also pertinent that you see your predicament from a different view. Your opportunities are limitless if you go to Canada; yet, "limitless" has a lower end. If your definition of satisfaction in life is working for an oil company, then you already have it. If however, you are bursting with creative problem solving ideas which you think an MSC would greatly enhance, then by all means follow your path. I'm in Nigeria and soon would be starting my MSC with University of London. After that, I will do my PHD with a school in Europe or Canada. I am not leaving Naija. I don't want to settle anywhere else. I am not leaving my job either. If your dreams can be achieved by staying put and studying from Nigeria, then do it. Eat your cake and have it. My brother don't be deceived by youthful restlessness and throw away an opportunity many would sell their soul for. Above all, we can only advice but you won't get your answers here. Seek the face of God inside you and around you. If you believe, you will receive. Good luck! |
Dude ain't writing nada. I'm sure after that pic, he must have been like "let me see. Okay post that one" |
Na change!! Monkey don enter market. |
Notwithstanding what the op may have posted about her (or her friend's) relationship in the past, I think we should stick to topic. This is an issue that affects lots of people, both male and female. Rather than playing detective, let those who have valuable advice to offer step up for the benefit of all. |
While we insult each other we fail to highlight the salient points. The Honorable Minister while defending the budget to the committee of land transport presented a supplementary budget to them. That is the point in contention. Question: Is that the way to resend budget to NASS? Is it appropriate for Amaechi to send the updated copy of the budget to just the committee while excluding the other members of NASS? Isn't there a due process for this kind of correction or amendment. Was it followed? Is it reasonable to assert that since the committee on land transport had been provided with a fresh budget, therefore the entire members of NASS had been provided the details? Simple accounting and finance knowledge would tell you that assuming Total T remains the same, once X is credited somewhere, same X must be debited somewhere else. What did Gbenga Ashafa do when he was presented with a budget different from that presented to his colleagues? The wailers are quick to say FG is confused while the zombies are quick to point fingers at SS/SE. What a shame! This whole freaking drama is a shame. |
I hope the government has plans on how to re-integrate these soldiers into society. Having been part of this war, their frame of mind would not be normal once the war is over. |
Marcelinho:Sometimes police does the rescue and also collect the ransom. It all depends... |
Stupedinluv:This is very deep. |
Am I the only one that saw Ooni's wife's rock star pose- I mean the fingers |

I read this fantastic article and I look at our budget. I just shake my head. Who is kidding who?

Does he not have job description? One of our cost saving measures should be stopping all state sponsored pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem. |
Please what's her source? Does she work for LV? Just because some chick with oyibo name makes a claim doesn't mean I should swallow it hook, line and sinker. It would be awesome if our tanneries could get back to business. Just yesterday, I was telling my banker about opening form M to import leather. Little did I know that all our leather doesn't disappear as pomo. Please anyone with the contact for these tanneries, kindly drop it. I need them for various things. |
I don't see an estate. All I see is the name of the estate. Where are the houses? Where are the social infrastructure? Where is the estate? Quick to fabricate and paint PMB but not quick enough to build the houses. Abi? Nigeria and propaganda! |
playdude:You have only been to on school out of thousands of schools in the south east. How can you be sure of your claims? I would consider your claims factual if you can present statistics showing you have sampled a reasonable number of south east schools. That's empirical; don't you think? |
playdude:Did you serve there too? Is it too difficult to agree that South East is doing something right? |
playdude:Bros enough please. You chose Abia to make a point about south east, I chose Anambra to counter it. |
playdude:So much for 2:1. What does the heading of your thread say? |
Op where were you when United Nations came to copy the education model implemented under Peter Obi in Anambra state? http://newafricanpress.com/2013/12/20/unicef-commends-gov-obis-focus-and-purposful-leadership/ Or when Anambra students went abroad for debate and came out tops. https://www.nairaland.com/2874651/anambra-debate-team-triumphs-singapore I bet everybody is being fooled except you right? Well done. |
I'm surprised this flight took off after only 37mins. This our security agencies self. If the plan was to hijack the plane, then I'm sure the man would not use 4 guns all by himself. This leads me to believe he must have associates to whom he would distribute the guns. In that case, the entire passengers ought to have been detained for further security checks until these associates are smoked out. I suspect though that this may not be the exact account, with the 4 fully loaded guns and all. Were they rifles, semi-automatics, side arms etc and how did they know they were fully loaded? Again all the airports Dana operates have fully functioning scanners, including the skeletal PHC Omagwa airport. How 4 "guns" could have passed through those checks is a bit worrisome. Those guys can sniff out 25ml perfume, e come be "4 fully loaded guns". And our hero of the day, God bless her soul and her generations to come. Whatever made her suspicious, I don't know but it's unlikely it's the fact the bag wasn't checked in. Everyone has a hand luggage so that would be like suspecting everyone. After much much, thank God for averting the "hijack" and any crisis that would have followed. Thank God for OP's brother's life. I'm taking same Dana today. God please grant us safe journey. It took some time for friends to convince me to take Dana after their last mishap. But I did and I agree with my friends. They deliver very good service and at very competitive rates. |
Op while I empathize with you, my questions are: 1. when you did you bsc in Nigeria, did you pay school fees before getting your certificate? 2. Did you read the terms and conditions? 3. Do you understand that after you agree with the terms and conditions, you cannot change them midway? 4. Going into contract law, both in UK and Nigeria, do you realize that partaking in their classes is an implicit acceptance of their terms and conditions, which includes their fees? If you provide the terms and conditions which you accepted by partaking in their classes, then we can further analyze whether you have defaulted or they are wrongfully charging you. Before you partake in anything, read the terms and conditions because according to contract law, partaking implies you have accepted to pay. Solution: engage them. Talk to them. They shouldn be able to give some respite based on your economic situation. |
