Look at the way way nairaland is run, like a beer Palour What is this news doing in the politics section? If it’s to vote for young vibrant candidates, you won’t see all this traffic, but since it’s about some useless sex tape, see them all rush in preaching this and that. |
ivolt:So it’s until the residents understand value of police by making donations, that they police will begin to act on insecurity? What about those that have nothing to donate? I guess they are on their own ba? No wonder they feel like police is useless, cause they can’t afford funds to mobilize police, something that should have been free in a serious country. |
somehow:What was the next level exactly? Dollar increase? Food prices increase?... Please come back and tell us how this level is better that’s the previous level All of you just shout useless slogans during elections, atikulated, 4+4, change, next level.... like mindless zombies |
I wonder why people on this thread were so happy! |
Funny thread. I don’t know when Nigerians will ever elect a great leader. Most people deep down knew neither Buhari nor Atiku would make a difference, but they just followed their tribal crowd leanings. |
Nigeria has existed this long, yet you can’t even get pipebourne water to a majority of Nigerian homes. Something as basic as water, it’s all man for himself. Then people start given speeches about a wonderful utopian Nigeria, like bra, you guys can’t even get people water bro! First it’s wrong to even believe in a Nigeria created by the British, but even then, if we were to have a chance at greatness, I would suggest we retire all politicians and put the best brains in at every level of government. I’m talking first class grads from Ivy League schools across the globe manning ALL POSITIONS AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL. |
“The police are understaffed, demoralised and poorly trained. Many supplement their low pay by robbing the public they have sworn to protect,”I’ve always advocated for increase in police pay. No officer should be earning less that 200k per month. A good salary is always a great incentive towards working harder. I know you might say, “what about the senators that receive jumbo pay?”, and you would be right in asking that question, but I believe it’s different for them since they get to set their own pay. It’s much different when you get to set your own jumbo pay, without fear of getting fired, vs receiving a jumbo pay, with the condition that you must work hard and achieve certain goals and targets. Now going back to senators, the only way they can get fired is if the people fire them, and I really don’t know what the process entails, yet alone if that could work in Nigeria. |
![]() What kind of leader have you Nigerians chosen? I was said that a hurricane could hit and destroy half of Nigeria and Buhari won’t still come out before a live press to answer questions and re-assure the people. Heck Godzilla could come through tomorrow, stomping cities from east to west, yet Buhari won’t say jack. Only expect speeches on New Year’s Day, Independence Day and other major holidays. |
helinues:I feel you, meanwhile we should have picked this one up too
|
If only this many officers could have been deployed to stop the mile 2 crisis, or other forms of criminality in Lagos and Nigeria at large. See just a small section of the multitude of officers deployed to stop those scary people carrying cardboard paper.
|
What does that tell you about your government? The fact that there was a fracas at mile 2 that involved loss of lives, yet we have what seems like the whole of Lagos police ready at the toll gate to arrest protesters. https://www.nairaland.com/6811129/mile-2-clash-lasg-threatens-suspend https://www.nairaland.com/6811222/endsars-memorial-police-arrest-protesters We even have people on this nairaland saying that police should shoot any protester they see. |
If you have driven past the lekki toll gate over the last year or so, I’m sure you can appreciate how easy it is to pass that route as the traffic at the gates has been TOTALLY ELIMINATED due to the stoppage of toll collection. Now imagine a wicked government wants to bring all that traffic back. All that chaos at the gates, with traffic stretching kilometers away. Why is government in Nigeria particularly wicked? By the way, what is so special about lekki and ajah people that they need to pay toll to go home? Why not Surulere people? Or ikeja people? Or Yaba people. We just tend to normalize weird and corrupt things in this country. Why is there a freaking toll gate right in the middle of the city with no alternate highway to pass? |
Buckeyemedia1:and if your evil wish came true, God forbid, your evil self will still come here to say he wasn’t killed abi? See how you boldly wish to kill a protester carrying placard, na wa May God have mercy on you |
Obialulifecoacj:Even if Kanu acted foolishly, I tell you that there can be nothing more foolish that One Nigeria advocates. How can slave masters conquer you and form a territory for you with people of other nations, yet you defend the bastardization with your sweat. Is it that black people, Nigerians can’t reason? |
maybanks:Lol at icons You will know a good tree by the fruits it yields. Look at your Nigeria today and you’re here shouting icons, probably on an empty stomach. |
Lush100:Omo, I don’t even understand again. I was driving and driving today and all the money as of right now is gone ![]() Well anyways sha, at least I’ve bought big bag of poundo yam from shoprite with my today’s earnings to last for a while. It’s just annoying that after all that driving, na pounded yam and other foods swallow all my earnings. I thought that I will come back tonight and relax with a chilled coke while admiring my account balance, but my account balance is lower tonight than it was yesterday. I am ready to join the ant league abeg!! |
I can see money on my dashboard but no money in my account ![]() All this driving sha, yet account balance is not moving or is moving backwards. Is it because I’m buying all these small chops and coke ![]() Haba! Sometimes I look at my dashboard and ask “where is the money?” |
Sadikuyusuf277:Haha, bro, you don’t want mech to chop? I used a basic scanner just to read check engine fault code, not to do any major analysis. So if you have a check engine light on, just plug in a scanner, even the basic ones, and it should give you a code like P037, P010 and so on. Then take the code to Google search and you should see what the most common reason for the code is. ... I’ve seen people on YouTube use advanced scanners to monitor different aspects of a vehicle. I AM NOT THERE YET! |
DMechyy:Point taken, I will try to find good used anyway I can for some parts. Like if the part was taken directly of a used or salvaged vehicle. It's just hard to trust these market sellers, vs say, buying directly from a DENSO distributor. These market guys could even try selling you the faulty parts that someone has thrown away from their car as tokunbo. I will take a weekend and go to ladipo myself, or find a seller that will take returns. Thanks for the advice. |
Nexttpage:This is the type of scanner I got, but I can't find it on jumia at the N1,500 price anymore Maybe I got lucky with the seller slashing his price about a month ago It only worked with an android device https://www./wireless-car-scanner-support-all-protocol-elm-mpg65002.html
|
Pearl1910:the scanner was not in those websites ooo, I get your point. |
Pearl1910:I almost spit out my coke reading this, lol. Men, I’m just thinking, I need my car to be up to spec, like spec bro! Like, you know how airplane maintenance standards are abi? I’m sure you wouldn’t want to fly in a plane that has been maintained in the hanger with tokunbo or fairly used parts. I’d like my car to be that way, although for most small testable things I don’t even look at new parts. Like for my check engine light I bought a scanner for 1,500 from jumia, instead of paying a mechanic 5,000 to scan the car. The scanner told me the bank 2 heater sensor circuit was faulty. Took out the oxygen sensor and ran a resistance test, then I figured I could go used since I could simply run a resistance test on the used part. Problem solved! However for something like a compressor, it’s hit or miss going tokunbo, it’s not like you can see through to the internals, or see leak spots when buying. Same with a motor mount, you might get a used one with the rubber still looking intact, but the rubber might already be degraded. Then one would be wondering why the problem is still there. At the end of the day sha, I must admit, it all depends on the availability of funds. If I had extra extra funds right now, I’d buy a brand new compressor and motor mounts and know that I wouldn’t have to worry about those for another 10 years. |
donfortune48:That is how it should be, since it’s a closed loop system mostly free from contaminants. My sisters car has an ac system that has never been touched since 2008, and yet still blows cold till today, like freezer cold, no matter the suns intensity; Everything is factory spec, compressor, condenser, evap core, exp valve... everything My car on the other hand had an accident once and I just had to do enough to get it running, it was then I discovered they put a Peugeot compressor in my car. When that one spoilt, I didn’t have the funds to buy the right compressor in my car, so I willfully allowed the ac kazeem to put another motor shaking compressor in my car. So really, if your car has the right ac parts, and they were new, then the system should last a long long time, barring any rare unforeseen component failure. If a repair is done, then via my research, I’ve seen this is were problems start to occur. Nigerian ac Kazeems don’t even have ac gauges, they don’t vacuum the ac system, they don’t weigh refrigerant and they put any refrigerant in there. So if you were to buy a new compressor for instance and give it to a Kazeem, I would not expect it to last, unless, you flushed, vacuumed, got a new condenser, weighed the refrigerant, put the right amount of oil and so on. The kazeems will just fix the compressor, pour an arbitrary amount of oil inside, put refrigerant and with no gauges, they will say it is enough when the low side pipe is cold to their own specific touch. |
CheerfulGiver:It’s not always easy to stay on top of maintenance though. Like for instance I have bad motor mounts and the cost of new ones are about 40k each, that would be like 160k for all 4, unless I want to shop for used or fake new ones. Then a new compressor for my car cost 300 pounds plus shipping, unless again I go with a tokunbo or suspect one. Even if I worked as hard as you as per driving, it would take over a month or two to get this all in order. I admit though that these items were already bad before I started the ehailing, but even if they went bad while ehailing, it would still be costly. We should just hope, pray and possible act against major repairs. |
Men my whole body is peppering me. I have been driving since 9a.m Is this how ants do it? Na wa oo I had to take a break at 3pm, as my ac wasn’t keeping up with the hot sun. Thinking of doing an ac overhaul, but a new compressor for my car cost about 200-300 pounds, so I dunno. Happy Sunday to everybody! |
Pearl1910:Haha! Madness! |
CheerfulGiver:Under 35k for petrol is not bad at all!! Do you use the same car for e-hailing and personal errands? |
Gentlelife50:Not looking for trouble oo, so not expecting to find any I just need the analysis. I think dashboard posting should now be accompanied by petrol/maintenance costs. That way we get a true reflection of net income. Just like how on the dashboard, you have your net minus bolts commission so you see a clear picture. |
CheerfulGiver:How much petrol did you use to achieve this? I’m guessing about 35-45k, am I right? |
Someone please dash me an electric vehicle I don’t want to buy petrol anymore |
Watch other leaders of the world and see how the press drills them with questions LIVE in our own Naija however, to even see the president Buhari on tv seems like spotting a fabled ware wolf, or a UFO How this man came to bastardize the position of president is beyond me. Now Nigerians are okay with never seeing or hearing from their president, like it’s a normal thing to have a president on ghost mode. |
