Don’t know if you guys have heard the story of the Tower of Babel. The story goes in summary, that the people of the earth spoke one language and had a unity of purpose, and with that great unity, they proudly believed they could build a tower to the heavens, until God scattered them into different languages, causing confusion amongst the people (please forgive me if I messed up the story). This story shows amongst other things, the importance of unity and the feats a United people can accomplish. Now compare that to the confusion that erupted after they were cast into different languages, and could barely understand themselves, yet alone, unify to achieve their project. This story to me is synonymous with current day Nigeria, or at least has some similarities in terms of unity. We are a vastly different people in this country, with so many tribes speaking so many languages, and it seems we are confused. We have no unity in terms of language spoken or in terms of purpose. We are like the builders of the tower after they were cast into confusion. Most countries doing great have a strong sense of unity in terms of language and purpose. In the United States of America, English is the major language spoken. There might be a few that speak Spanish, but the main language is English and you can’t expect to go far if you don’t speak it. Then there is unity of purpose, as those in New York all the way down to Texas all scream, U S A, U S A, U S A... the Texan doesn’t fancy himself more American than the person from New York. They don’t ask you were your father was born before you can be elected into a political office. Juxtapose that with Nigeria where different tribes see each other as their tribes first before their nationality. A place were you must be from a certain tribe before being elected into office, all while still being in a so called country. We were “unified” by colonialists, who did that strictly for profit, we didn’t all come together with our different languages and tribes to negotiate a unity. Our confusion in lack of unity clearly shows in our economy, our infrastructure, and social norms. Even elections are mostly based on the tribe of the candidate, not what the candidate has to offer. “It must go to the south”, “no the north”, “Yoruba 2023”, “its igbos turn”...and on and on the confused denizens argue without even stopping to consider a purpose, an agenda, policy and so on. This is what confusion breeds, you leave the issues that need to be solved, for issues of language and tribe, which doesn’t solve real world problems. |
Proof: On this very nairaland, we always hear news about some Nigerian holding political office abroad. The name checkers even come out to rejoice, shouting Yoruba or Igbo but... No white man can ever get elected in Nigeria, in fact, you can’t get elected in Nigeria unless your tribe is native to the region. Like a northerner becoming Lagos governor or a Yoruba man becoming Anambra governor, even if these contestants have lived there all their lives. You people are racist to the core!! Also, no one hates black people more than black people, not whites, not Asians or Hispanics. Blacks are blacks own worst enemies. As a black man and a Nigerian specifically, you stand a better chance at a better life among whites people than you do among your fellow blacks. Even during the slave trade era, it was black people that captured and sold their fellow blacks to white people. Look at Madam Tinubu, the slave trader for instance. If I was a white slave buyer at the time, would I waste my energy to capture slaves or simply purchase my slaves from her? Finally, look at the way the government denies its citizens basic infrastructure; roads, water... even places like Victoria island don’t get water from the state, talk less of other remote areas. They are so so wicked to the people they govern, almost like they want their people to fail and suffer, where as whites mostly provide infrastructure for their people to aid success and a better life. So as a Nigerian, don’t you ever dare call a white man a racist, with your imported phone, and internet, because frankly, it just makes you sound like a hypocrite. |
What exactly are his achievements? Dollar is almost 600 naira now Nigerians and hype sha, I though this guy is already in government? So the current government is failing but you choice is still a major part of the failing government? |
Buhari did not make the list? I’m sure these dictators can get elected here in Nigeria with the way our people reason. They will call you a wailing wailer if you tell them that they should not elect Idi Amin. They will elect them to spite other tribes, so they can laugh, forgetting they would still fall under the umbrella of bad governance. When you tell them to elect a first class grad from Harvard, Unilag and the likes, or a professional from the private sector with a great heart or other worthy leaders, they will tell you that you are wasting your vote and that Idi Amin is very popular, who can defeat him? The 2 popular corrupt parties will field Idi Amin and Josef Stalin, and Nigerians will believe that THEY MUST PICK ONE OF THESE TWO, as if they are barred from selecting another person from somewhere else. Then they will dance owambe on Election Day, eat rice and stew, with goat meat and beer, filling their tummies up, in preparation for the suffering to come from choosing a bad leader. Salute to you Nigerians. Tinubu warriors and Atikulators, Buharidians and Iborians. You are all truly a special breed. |
tctrills:As in... I don’t know why it’s hard for Nigerians to understand that they need great great leaders. See dem already campaigning for the likes of Tinubu and Atiku, and you just wonder, then they will come back and complain that Nigeria is not working, but were the ones dancing owambe when picking corrupt people during elections as if it’s a party. Look at the Tinubu vs Atiku thread, with over 15 pages, see dem, arguing and arguing over two corrupt past leaders. I just don’t understand the mindset of a typical Nigerian sometimes. It’s almost as if no one wants this country to succeed. Just one leader with a pure heart is enough to inspire soooo much good and positive change, yet they always always select past dictators and past corrupt people or the offspring of political godfathers. Just yesterday, I saw cars and bikes driving on the sidewalk were pedestrians are supposed to walk and I almost started crying. It means our country is now soooo lawless, as in absolutely lawless, for something like that to happen unchallenged by police or any other law enforcement officer. Imagine going to Dubai or America and you start driving on the sidewalk we’re people are walking. Wont you be arrested ASAP? But here it’s just a normal thing in such a lawless nation. I don’t want to be sad, but sigh, I’m almost in tears again typing this. It’s so sad being a Nigerian sometimes and having to listen to other Nigerians continue to support a totally lawless nation by their candidate choices. |
yuping:as in... I pray you achieve your dreams abeg |
A party leader that brought bullion vans (plural) to his house a DAY BEFORE AN ELECTION. I was on this thread reading comments, and see how the top comment on the first page with over a hundred likes is a comment in support of a Tinubu presidency. https://www.nairaland.com/6761567/2023-presidency-waiting-tinubu-decide/2 I really don’t understand how the minds of Nigerians work. You guys never care about development, the welfare of your country or even immediate society. Do you see how tough things are now? Dollar is about 550 or so, and prices of goods are shooting through the roof, whereas infrastructure like electricity and good roads with closed drainages are still lacking, together with so many other issues. Someone on that thread was only doing math, stating how Tinubu will get the majority of Yoruba votes as he is their son. So if your son becomes president, will that immediately change the dollar rate? Will that collapse food prices? So you will just vote for someone because he is your “son”, even if that means you continue to suffer? What is the benefit then? Bragging on an empty stomach? I tire for Naija men. The way we choose leaders always reminds me of the MMM fiasco, were the majority of people on nairaland threads, it seems, where always brutally supporting MMM and cursing the few people who could see that MMM was indeed a scam an a very obvious one at that, yet all you would be hearing then from the supporters of MMM was “you don’t understand get help and bla bla bla” Why are obvious things made so complicated in Naija? This is a man who as I said earlier, brought 2 bullion vans to his house before an election, yet you will overlook this very obvious malfeasance. All the countries that your brothers and sisters run to, awon Canada and the rest, even U.K that your Tinubu is now, is that how their leaders bring bullion vans to their house before elections? Yet you still don’t care. You don’t care at all about having good roads, without open rotting gutters, a great police and military force, advancements in technology, agriculture and healthcare, you don’t care about the economy, nothing, all you care about is that your corrupt son is there, even if that means you die of hunger (which I pray against), I mean come on! Even if I tell you that if you are successful in electing a Tinubu, Atiku or whatever other rubbish candidate that Nigeria will get worse, you will still go ahead and do so. But why? Why are you all so programmed to pick the worst of the worst? Why are you programmed to pick the candidates you know for sure will further bastardize your society. Unless of course you believe you are animals that don’t deserve a decent society like most white countries. Why can’t you go to Unilag or Harvard university and start grooming a leader with first class or summa cum laude since Nigeria as of now need the best of the best of the best. Na wa for una, a special breed indeed. |
davit:Yup! Even today, some girl already tested my patience on indriver, by stopping to buy food. I just sucked it up and kept it moving. Getting my car cleaned for another bolt trip. God bless guys! |
CheerfulGiver:Hahahah, oh my days! This made me laugh soo hard. I feel you boss. |
Pearl1910:Hahaha, the money was definitely chooking my eyes combined with the destination back to my area. Honestly though sometimes it may not be worth it, but other times, it’s like you just have to suck it up till trip ends. I have canceled only one shouter and that was over the phone, when she kept shouting where are you, where are you, where are you, even with me giving her street by street updates, being like 2 minutes away. I just told her, “sorry babe, but I’m canceling”, cause my mind was telling me that the prospective trip might be extremely difficult with such a rider. |
CheerfulGiver:Thanks for stating your experiences bro! I wonder why she would feel embarrassed, unless of course she wanted it to feel like it was her personal car to onlookers; that’s the only explanation I can come up with, if indeed she felt embarrassed. I will start screening my indriver riders a bit more, cause I’ve seen here that you and others have kicked people out, so it’s not like it’s a new thing. |
Felicity001:This is really sad men, may his soul rest in perfect peace in Jesus mighty name, Amen! We should not berate the dead, especially if we don’t know how it happened. Even me, I don’t know what shrine is, so I could have picked up someone from there and not even know, then tomorrow I would be berated for being a newbie. May God continue to protect us with the blood of his son Jesus Christ. |
See review one woman left for me on inDriver, na wa I didn’t even speak throughout the whole short trip besides asking her how her day was going and wishing her a wonderful day. The music volume was on 20 out of a maximum of 60 and she never complained that the music was loud cause I would have turned it down immediately. Let me tell you guys what the problem was, I did not let her into my car until she had verified her name. When I first got to the pickup, she was trying to open my door, which was locked. So I asked her through the window for her name and she started shouting right there that that’s not how its done, that I’m supposed to let her in my car first before asking for her name, na wa. I just weak at some people men. Is that how you let a stranger in your house and then ask for name later? I just don’t understand some humans men. I explained to her that it was for security reasons, yet she was still shouting, and I never shouted back. See how she now left a wicked review for someone. Some people are just wicked sha See her English sef, “worst rude ever”, chai

Don’t let all the technology like phones and computers fool you Nigerians are more suited to living in the jungle were they can eat, poo and pee anywhere they like in peace. I have never seen a country like this before, that will fight to the death before they develop. They will fight and fight to install the most horrible corrupt leaders known to man and then gloat about it. Just observe them on a day to day basis, and see how they bastardize their society with filth, and decay. A huge disgrace of a country to black people worldwide. |
See small rain and all roads in Lagos flooded, not to talk of the extremely bad roads everywhere . Every freaking place has tons and tons of pothole ridden, rough and useless roads. Ordinary road oh... Almighty lekki, 50 percent of roads are horrible, Victoria island, ikoyi... Then all you people in politics section would be shouting APC and PDP from morning till night like you don’t use the same jungle roads. I’m sure even some foreign jungles have better roads than black man country. Nigeria should be totally ashamed of itself, and you the citizens that celebrate rubbish, when will you learn? At what point do you people feel you deserve a better country? Nonsense! The world ought to know that the black man can’t build a society |
BAZ001:Thanks bro! I’m home, only doing destination trips to Victoria Island today. |
This job has been stressful at times to say the least. I’m already tired, but then I see some dashboards and I’m like how? How do you guys do it? Na wa! In lekki here, I’ve had to cancel some trips where the pick up was flooded badly, yet I’d see some small Corolla risking it all and going through the flood. I wonder to myself, is that a resident that knows the roads and water depth, or is that a do a die e-hailer. Today I saw one market road and I just weak, see mountains and valleys, the riders then told me, it’s okay, I can pass another route. I was almost about to start crying as I had already committed to the trip. First week I lost a tyre, a radiator hose that was actually already failing, and an intermittent Check Engine light. Well the good thing is that I made enough money to get a new hose and a tyre, but the check engine light is still pending, as I’d rather buy a scanner than pay someone 5k. I need to use one weekend to tour some parts of Lagos so I can increase my acceptance rate and income, especially the mainland because right now, I reject all mainland trips. You guys on this thread are awesome sha, God bless and protect you all. |
Thanks to all you guys on this thread with the helpful information. Even in the middle of your fighting, one can still deduce some useful info, so grazie!! |
How many weeks has it been now? |
davit:As in, absolute nonsense. I am buying more pepper spray from yankee and a stun gun, by Gods grace. |
Conner44:Braaaaah! Say it isn’t so! That is daylight robbery men, how can they tow a vehicle in trouble, not as if they are towing to your mechanic for you, but they are towing you as an offender. Gosh, everyday, I hate Nigeria more. What were you supposed to do? Like ensure that your car never ever ever breaks down while driving? Who can guarantee that? Not even Elon can guarantee that as some Tesla’s have broken down while driving. |
Pearl1910:hmm, these are good questions oh, unfortunately, I’m a newbie pupil. I see no updates available on the App Store for bolt. I have posted the trip picture below. Thanks by the way, this is the first time I’m looking at trip details. I see no evidence that we went to lekki.
|
Pearl1910:Sometimes it just can’t be avoided though, like if you had a flat or an overheating engine. The sad thing is that as I was there, not one bus used the bustop, instead they all stopped directly on the right-most lane, instead of veering into the bustop to prevent traffic obstruction. Yet, the lasma guy did not see any of them to stop. That’s why I say this country is useless. I actually opened a thread last month on law and order on Lagos roads and stated the issue of buses not using the bus stop and causing traffic, so why will they abandon all offenders and come try to arrest the ONE GUY WHO IS TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING? It’s sad abeg! |
Pearl1910:No wonder. I have been emailing Uber to please sign me up to UberGo, and till now I don’t see it. |
Guys please help me with this issue I had a trip today to lekki, and when we got to the destination the rider told me to wait and then we now headed to ikoyi. I was shocked when I saw that the bill was just N1,500, why? Did bolt not calculate the second trip? Or should I have ended the first trip and started another trip? I’m soooooo confused |
So today I parked my car at a the end of a bustop on ozumba, clearly away from oncoming traffic and even away from buses trying to use the bustop. I had pulled over to check my engine, so the hood was up. Next thing I know, one lasma guy from nowhere came to my back and said “bros lemme talk to you”, I said okay, but I briefly looked back, that’s how I saw tow truck reversing towards my car. Since 1 + 1 = 2, I figured they were trying to tow my vehicle, so I ran back to the car, put my hood down and entered the car. That’s how the tow guy too was trying to enter my car, omo, the way I zoomed off ehn. Plus my hand was already on my pepper spray in case he made it in, I would have knacked him 2 sprays right in the eye balls. I just don’t know how it became illegal to troubleshoot your car on the road when it has car issues. I am all for law and order, but haba! So if it was a serious car problem, is that how they will just come tow my car, instead of offering assistance? Naija is the most useless country known to man. |
themindpen:Men bro, this my Vaseline moniker will forever remain anonymous oooo, but I will get another email to use then drop it. |
Crvrider:This isn’t even about requirements, it won’t even let me receive the code which is the very first step of the app. I truly believe it’s 9Mobile sha
|
CheerfulGiver:You are correct in this case, as I had seen some signs of wear on the tyre before. I have had a new tyre pop before though after hitting a nail. It didn’t even go down slowly, it just went from full to flat immediately, but I guess a nail is different sha. |
BAZ001:Na wa, compressor in just 3 months? I don’t even know how one can do preventative maintenance for a compressor. Abeg, make una speak to lazy league manager to accept me abeg. I have been in my house sleeping since the tyre incident. Will change it out tomorrow. |
