BAZ001:
What Ambode tried to remove you are asking for more?
What is the job role of Traffic warden police?
of FRSC?
Or VIO?
Now you have Lastma, CBD, Taskforce, local govt tout doing same job but in a criminal way.
You still have LNSC neighborhood just their.
They are just using them to rake in money for Lagos govt.
see what it took a whole country to end SARS?
No let them hear this Abeg
Lol, exactly!

Travel to most sane countries of the world and all you have there is just POLICE and Firefighters. Police will even be the ones controlling traffic.

Come to Naija and you will have over 30 agencies on the road, lol, an exaggeration I know, but still, haba!

Now compare the results. See how law and order is holistically upheld for driving in those countries where there is just police in charge, juxtaposed to Nigeria where there is soooooo much chaos when it comes to driving, chai!!!

I once told some guy that it is illegal to change lanes without using your turn signal abroad and he was dumbfounded, he didn’t even know. How would he know though, when in Nigeria, NOT ONE PERSON HAS EVER BEEN PULLED OVER FOR NOT SIGNALING. In fact, do people get pulled over at all in Nigeria? I mean the official pull over we see in movies where the procedure is that once you see sirens behind you, you move over to the side of the road.

How would police just be sitting down at junctions and expect to have law and order on the roads? They don’t patrol, or rely on cameras, and even when they do patrol, they don’t enforce. Put those things together and that’s why you can have danfos stopping right in the middle of the roads, plus hawkers,....

Who born danfo to stop in the middle of the road in Dubai or Texas? All that gra gra na for their own pocket, cause it’s either they get tasered, or shot!

As a potential prospective e-hailer, I actually like the idea of this UberGo I’m just now hearing about. It does sound convenient for those that want to do this part-time and not have to drive too far.

The idea of driving within an area does sound cool, but I’m sure the customers would want to take advantage of it.

From a customers point of view when I open the Uber App, it seems implicit that the UberGo is meant for less than 4 passengers, while it’s explicitly stated that UberX is for 4 passengers. However, going by all the info on this thread of passenger privilege abuse, one could extrapolate to the case of this new UberGo, in the sense that riders might still want to pack themselves and load into a drivers vehicle, lol.

Why pay for an UberX, when for half the price, I and my buddies could roll with the UberGo?

I guess it would be up to the driver to set STRICT rules, with regards to the amount of passengers allowed in their vehicles, i.e, “riders < 4” + no load.

Too many unbelievers in Nigeria men!

Yet you are using your electric phone without stress of NEPA

It’s just the price men, but the efficiency is second to none; no hybrid, ice or hydrogen vehicle can compete EVERR!!!

I know I’d invest in ride share here one day soon either by driving by myself part time or leasing out a vehicle but I can never ever buy that corolla. See the vehicles on my wishlist for the job below:

Toyota prius
Honda Civic hybrid
Honda Insight

If you like call me crazy but highest id import parts from USA to change defective ones and sacrifice two weeks of downtime. The fuel utilization of these cars engines is out of this world tori-olorhun and as at today mechanics are working on hybrids in Lagos.

Nigerians naturally are a ‘crowd mentality‘ specie of human beings. Corolla was the norm everywhere until dru23 opened Nairaland guys eyes to civic then it became the new rave.

Bet me when I start using my future hybrid and give feedback here you’d see a mad rush for that kind of vehicle from Uber drivers starting from here on Nairaland
If only electric vehicles were cheap, I’m sure all the people driving on this thread would switch the SAME DAY!! Even the EV unbelievers

The only working traffic light on Acme road connecting Akilo is at the acme /metal box road intersection.

I swear bro, another major factor I love is the different options of different cars they have available for them. We can't even use Audi, which has some 1.8l engine models here, superb handling, semi luxury feel, e.t.c

Toyota Prius nkor? Why does it have to be a Corolla which costs a arm and a leg to buy?

Our country doesn't even enforce driver benefits on these platforms like they Do in the UK and US. We don't even have the luxury of Ride Sharing options except Uber / Bolt. All these combined with majority of the job based on the island. Even Abuja doesn't come close.

This country is beyond redemption. It's a sad truth everyone needs to accept. I just hope to leave sooner rather than later cus thinking about these things alone makes one sad.
The country is bad, but what is worse is how most Nigerians don’t see it or don’t care, else, why would they keep electing people that don’t care?

I’m sure if you or I were elected as governor, based on our shared hatred for bad roads, we would improve the road networks, but would the masses vote for the likes of us? No!!

Tribe over everything in this country, even reason.

No one cares about open gutters, no lanes on highways, hawkers everywhere, bad roads...

All they want to do is shout Tinubu 2023 or some other useless slogan.

I pray one day Nigerians will wake up, or the country breaks apart and the emerging nations wake up.

Just coming back again and the same ol story.

Chaos on the roads!

But how do other countries have such peaceful driving? With order, drivers in their lanes...

Everybody cannot “jabbor” to white man land for sanity now, haba...

I challenge us as black men and women to do better, I am sending mails to Lagos government as well to see if they can get their act together.

Everybody just goes on as if such chaotic driving should be normal.

Not one person ever gets Pulled over by police, in fact police are breaking driving laws with impunity.

There is no will power in leadership to do things right, Zero will power.

Even if you have all the money in the world, you can’t even enjoy it in Lagos, or Nigeria in fact, well Abuja might be a bit sane, but even there you still don’t have police pulling people over.

Soon that Rossiki dude will open another thread shouting how white man stole from us, mtcheew.

Over 60 years and you guys as black peoples can’t even organize fvking traffic?

Your children don’t even know what driving school is, or what it means to be pulled over by police, or what it means to stay in their lane and use signals when changing lanes, and why should they? Are there any consequences for bad driving in black man country?

I’ve never seen a society where people just drive like animals, without an ounce of consequence. Chai!

Whether you drive in your lane or not - no consequence

Whether you are danfo and stop right in the middle of the road - no consequence

Whether you drive on pedestrian walkways and almost bash them - no consequence

Black man!!!

Then you will all run to Europe and Dubai and be driving like human beings, because dem no born u well if you don’t.

Have I ever said anything good about Lag? Of course I have.

I praised Ambode for destroying those roundabouts at lekki epe that Fashola built, and replacing them with traffic lights which greatly reduced the traffic on that road. I even opened threads with pictures showing the effectiveness of the traffic lights compared to the roundabouts which many untrained lagosian drivers did not know how to navigate.

People that can’t paint ordinary lane markings on one of the most “prestigious” highways in Lagos, lekki epe

I’m sure a lot of you will think that lane markings are not important, the same way you’d think closing open gutters is not important, chai!

I’m tired of always pointing these things out, but I will continue to point them out until they are fixed, God willing!

When you go to driving schools in western nations, you learn all about lanes, as the white folks place great importance on them.

Every lane marking has a meaning, white solid lanes, dashed lanes, yellow lanes and so on...

These things promote law and order in a society and help police enforce laws involving lane discipline

PoliticsRe: Sanwo Olu Visits Bola Ahmed Tinubu In London by VaselineCrew: 7:50pm On Aug 03, 2021
While they are both there, they should check London highways and see if they have lane markings on them.

Below is the current picture of lekki epe expressway, with no lane markings as they have all faded away. A highway in one of the most highbrow areas in black man country; Nigeria.

Why can’t they copy the good things from these countries they always run away to?

Now they are gearing up to bring back tolls on that road, with no lane markings and street lights that hardly work.

In the part of Nigeria you currently are, does the government supply you tap water? Or did you dig borehole or buy from tanker?

Have you ever seen police squad cars “Pull people Over”? If it wasn’t for Hollywood, would you even know what that means?

Then we are still struggling to get power levels above 5,000MW, which is not nearly enough for even a section of the country.

PoliticsRe: Will There Ever Be Law And Order In Nigeria by VaselineCrew(op):
No lanes on a major highway like lekki epe

See drivers driving in a zig zag pattern.

Honestly though, even where there are lanes, drivers won’t obey them.

Do these chaotic roads and driving experiences even phase the average Nigerian? It seems most of the drivers love the lawlessness.

When people start complaining about the black man, they will say you have inferiority complex. Why won’t someone feel inferior as a race when in 2021 we still can’t manage traffic and punish offenders.

Politicians never even talk about it, like how they never talk about beautification of streets and closing open gutters, because maybe the majority of Nigerians don’t even care about such things.

The black man is something else men...

Look at the pics of lekki epe expressway and tell me how many lanes you see, if at all you see any

Juxtapose this with the pic of “white man land” and see how organized they are.

Meanwhile see their bustop just 50 meters away, but they won’t use it, because they know Nigeria is a lawless country.

I pray to God seriously to give us leaders that care, God please, we can’t be a lawless nation forever.

The bus stop was designed by engineers to allow for free flowing traffic, so that buses veer into the bus lane and out when done picking or offloading, but they won’t use it, instead they choose to stop right on the road and add to traffic.

Imagine if London buses just stop in the middle of the road to pick passengers instead of using bus lanes and stops.

God please help us, or should I run for governor? Who will support me?

Sunday morning and chaos is already building.

See truck and Okada running red light while LCC official sits down chilling.

No police to chase them down and we say we want to progress as a nation? Are we kidding ourselves?

PoliticsWill There Ever Be Law And Order In Nigeria by VaselineCrew(op):
I just came back from driving and if you see the chaos eh...

People horning behind you in traffic as if there is anywhere to go. One frustrated individual behind me, after horning at me to no avail, just drove his car into the bush path on lekki epe expressway and there will obviously be no consequence for him in NIGERIA.

but why is that?

Why is it that if you travel as a Nigerian to most countries, and decide to drive on pedestrian walkways and off-road bush paths, you face consequences? Then you come back home and face zero consequences for being an ABSOLUTE PSYCHOPATHIC MANIAC driver?

Then forget about lane discipline and the likes, where drivers switch lanes faster than transistors, in order to gain 100 milliseconds of time in a race to nowhere, sigh! You even find buses and tankers attempting to switch lanes last minute never minding the cars on their blind spot.

Then the danfos, the almighty criminal drivers of the roads, seemingly invisible to any law enforcement whatsoever, and it is with this veil of invisibility which bolsters their maniacal tendencies, that they lord over other drivers. They never ever stop at already created bus-stops, instead, preferring to stop on the road to pick passengers, even if it means stopping right in traffic to load bags of rice belonging to a passenger.

These danfos slow down the rate of traffic where ever they are found, and of course in Lagos, that is everywhere, so you can imagine the impact these folks have on traffic. One a 3 lane road at lekki epe, you’d often find that danfos have blocked 2 of those lanes, leaving only one lane open, the audacity!!

With all these problems mentioned, who will save us? Do we need a Superman type hero to rescue us or what? Maybe the justice league or the avengers should come down to Lagos to enforce traffic rules and serve out punishment for malfeasance? So if we choose not to live in a far fetched fantasy, then in reality, who do we call?

The police, oh the police! I just don’t even know what to say about you guys. You stand at junctions all day, or sit in your car waiting for nightfall to erect your makeshift ventures in extortion, rushing like children pushing barricades around to build forts to funnel customers in. Maybe blaming you guys isn’t fully justified though, given your remunerations, but one of you ought to let your superiors know that there is money in enforcing driving and traffic rules, shikena!

Then there is the government in charge of the police, what are you guys doing? Do you even care? Or is governorship all about discussing billions in projects? Won’t you drive round your city, or remotely check in via CCTVs to see how things are going? You build roads without lane markings, adding to the already chaotic driving situation, then you don’t even train the police on what to look for.

I suggest that Police officers go to Houston Texas for training on how to patrol traffic, enforce traffic rules and apprehend those that break the law.

As I was driving, I was imagining I was a police officer and I saw so many people I could pull over. The danfos, the people changing lanes with no signal and at the last minute, the people driving on two lanes at once, the people that endangered others by merging last minute... so much money to be made by the government, who could then feed that money back to improve the squads in a return loop. The criminal drivers have to be caught while driving, you can’t mount road blocks or stand at junctions and expect to enforce the law and if police does not enforce the law, then the chaos will persist, leading to never ending traffic even with somewhat good roads. Even those that are meant to be strategically at junctions in their cars at traffic lights are nowhere to be found. Today in Lagos, there is no consequence for running the traffic light, as long as you have space in front of you to zoom off.

We can’t continue to live like animals, abeg! I strongly believe we can do better, may God help us all, amen!
