God understands we have weaknesses that's why He provides us with His GRACE to overcome them with the help of Holy Spirit. Ezra 9:8 Titus 2:11 God knows, while we work on our weaknesses with the help of Holy Spirit there may be disaster unexpected, that's why He provides us with His MERCY. Luke 1:50, Romans 9 :15 When we delay in overcoming our weaknesses God helps us by allowing TEMPTATION to speed up the process. James 1:12-14 When we meet God's expectation at the appropriate time God's FAITHFULNESS brings the REWARD .Psalm 119:90 When we declined after all avenues have been exhausted, God cannot help His JUDGEMENT. "Luke 13:4-6 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Luke 13:7-9 Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down." We are called to bear fruit. Hence, the phrase 'except ye repent' So then what are we to repent from: a fruitless life. What is then a fruitless life. 1. A life without salvation. John 3:3, John 3:16. 2. A life not in tune with divine purpose. Act 19:25, Act 26:16, Rom 8:28, Rom. 9:17, Ephesians 1:11, Timothy 1:19, 1 John 3:8 Remain blessed.

From onitsha to Awka to Enugu, then navigate southbound to Enugu Port Harcourt road down to pH, you will see clear definition of urbanization. . But this is not obtainable in SW You have spoken from your limited experience but to know true position you must go by emphircal fact. |

Biafrarep: I don't just argue for the sake of it, I provide irrefutable facts!
Yes, like I stated earlier, prior or during colonial era, Yorubas liked to live in nucleated settlements because of insecurity that pervaded the areas so they settled close to big rocks for protection. That was how Ibadan, Abeokuta etc grew and became cities.
However, in the East, there no need for such since the areas are mostly plain lands with dense forests and largely no rocks. So Igbos chose dispersed settlements. But from 1960's Igbos started moving to the market towns and administration centers.
Stop using books written during colonial times to judge the present, it can only give you unreliable data. That's the same mistake you also make by claiming that Yorubas are the most educated in Nigeria while using 1960 data but recent data shows that Igbos are the most educated.
Egbon, I get am before no be property o. I quoted that source to let you know that history of Yoruba urbanization which is an important indicator of civilization predated colonial era. By the grace of God I am a scholar of urban and regional planning for years now. Hence I can tell you there are over whelming validated data to support the findings. South east people you may say migrates a lot. But they move outside their region mostly. All these are neocolonial trend. In Urban studies we use standard criteria to assess classification of settlements and urbanization which is global best practice. Hence I can tell you till date Yorubas are still leading city dwellers technically speaking. This is a great indicator of civilization because cites are centres of civilization. |

Biafrarep: In 1960 yes, but now hell no! Lagos is not synonymous with SW. Talking about urbanization, no region has urbanized faster than Igboland in contemporary times. Many Yorubas prefer living in their rural areas unlike Igbos that like migrating to cities. So stop saying what you don't know! The Yoruba of Western Nigeria have large, dense, permanent settlements, based upon farming rather than upon industrialization, the pattern of which is traditional rather than an outgrowth of acculturation. They are undoubtedly the most urban of all African peoples, https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/abs/10.1086/221604?journalCode=ajs# |

khadaffi: Please always do a search before opening a thread. This question have been asked severally here and it has also been answered. No weapon is licensed for self defense in Nigeria. In Nigeria the security agencies are to protect you. Those private individuals that have guns in Nigeria are hunters and only hunting weapons can be licensed for them such as Dane guns, pump action etc. Recently another category of civilians with weapons are the vigilante. So either you are a vigilante or a hunter you are not allowed to brandish weapon in public else you will be arrested. Humm! Quite educative, many thanks. Yet I can't reconcile this with "right to self defence". It means it doesn't exist when you are under fire arm attack. It sounds as if we are put in a cage. |

Politics › Re: Until The West And The East Learn To Speak In One Voice...nigeria Won't Change by waldigit: 3:17am On Oct 24, 2021 |
EMIOMOADEOYE: I made this assertion many many years ago.
Change will begin in earnest the day Western Nigeria and Eastern Nigeria learn to speak in one voice.
Sadly, the Easterners as of this moment will rather have it another way.
The West has for long allied with the North and for good reasons. The West is the most strategic region in all of Nigeria. Being strategists themselves the Westerners understand that there is a lot to be gained by allying with the North. First the North needs the West for commerce. The West fears the North due to their numbers. So a symbiotic relationship seems to serve the purpose for the moment.
Unfortunately, the North has nothing but hatred for the East. The West fears the East, because they are aggressors. Westerners are not known for being particularly aggressive. Westerners like to point and kill from a distance. The East also has capacity for industry. For as long as the East continue to remain in a position of political minority and with the Alliance of the North, the West is content to accommodate the East if for nothing but their industrial astuteness.
However, being who they are, potentially domineering and arrogant, the East has already started to attempt to lay claim to things that do not belong to them. The very reason why the North has deep seated hatred for them. You know their is one thing I dislike about the East. They will shit on your turf but will regard it as an insult when you so same in return. They will even go so far as to play the victim card on you. They will literally poke you in the eye and scream to the high heavens when you avenge yourself. That is who the East is.
Now that we have a Northern aggressor who is threatening even the North itself, the West is beginning to consider that their alliance with the North may have have outlived its usefulness. The time is now for the East to rethink its priorities and get to the table with the West.
The West and the East fears the North. But the North fears a Western and Eastern coalition more. They know that the moment we get together to speak in one voice, one accord...its almost all over. Why else do you think the Niger - Nigerian commerce is being expedited.
Come to an accord with the West and be honorable enough to live up to their own words. Do not for benefit of self seek to undermine that alliance by going to the North through the back door as your backstabbing forefathers did.
You will only meet with the fangs of the North. The North will never go against the West. They know it is not in their best interest. As long as people can still make 9 million naira monthly from politics, it's going to be so difficult. |

Metrix147: A renowned Interpol Systems Consultant in Nigeria, Sir Chikwe Udensi has said if the next President of Nigeria emerges from the South East region, it will end the secessionist agitation spearheaded by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in the geopolitical zone.
According to Udensi, history has shown that similar challenges in recent times in the country were tackled by a deliberate effort to instill a sense of justice.
Speaking with ABN TV in Abuja, he said when OPC was running riots in the South West, leading to tension and killings in the region, it fizzled away when Olusegun Obasanjo became President of the country.
"The next thing you saw was Niger Delta agitation as if the country was about to be engulfed in flames.
"Goodluck Jonathan went in there, there has not been anything like Niger Delta agitation again. People like Tompolo, Asari Dokubo, and the rest went in.
"This agitation (IPOB) will die off if Igbo man becomes the President. That is my thinking because that has been the trend" he stated.
He insists that agitation is fuelled by a perceived sense of injustice, adding that injustice and peace do not co-habit.
"When you make an Igbo man President, IPOB and ESN will die off. That is the truth. It has happened before in this country" he added.
On the possibility of an Igbo man being the country's President in 2023, Sir Udensi said nothing is impossible before God.
He noted that it was nearly unbelievable for one to assume that Obasanjo would become the President in 1999 from the prison, same as Goodluck Jonathan who was a deputy governor in Bayelsa before his miraculous elevation to the number office on the land.
He predicted that an Igbo man could miraculously emerge as the country's President come 2023.

So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son. And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh. Jehoram the son of Ahab was the king of Israel when King of Syria made a siege against Samaria , the royal city of divided Isreal. The siege or barricade created famine of the worst dimension in human history and this resulted to cannibalism among citizens against their own children. There was a case of breach of agreement between two women on how to take turns to feed on their children to survive. The King of Isreal heard about this and following were his reaction: 1. He tored his royal robe in the public. 2. He changed into sackcloath and appeared in the public with them 2King 6:30 3. He descended on highly placed public office spiritual leader in the person of Elisha issuing out instant execution order as purnishment for his failure.2King 6:31 Moral lessons. 1.Passion for humanity is greatly exhibited buy this leaders action. 2.This King was ready to tread on big toes for the sake of common people. 3. This leadership trait brought about speedy result within 24 hours.2King7:1 Conclusion Today one wonders how leaders still go about in shinning apparels in Nigeria in the mist of National affliction. Some host elaborate wedding ceremony for their children while children of the poor are in sex slavery and captivity. Some hide their children in schools abroad while the children of the poor are left to face the risk of being kidnapped from schools. There is need for people especially from Africa to know that leadership is a calling. If you know you don't possess passion and compassion for humanity, then be rest assured LEADERSHIP is not your calling.
