Be optimistic bro
Optimism is an expensive product in Naija...
Most folks dont understand Agric Bizness ....
If you analyze those inputs required to get to the final product...
Land, Irrigation, Pest Mgt, Seedlings, Agric Extension Services, Bird Mgt, Funding, Access modern implements, rice mills , imported rice etc....
And you look at zero effort by govt to address systemic challenges in Agric biz....
We are just wasting our time as a nation......

These weights as at 3 weeks of old taken early yesterday morning at 900g-1000g.
What are the challenges so far? Liter management and seeing brown poos whenever the liter is not changed on time.
Second vaccination was done on Day 20 night.
I hope to get at least 1.5-1.6kg at 30 days. Bearing any unforseen circumstance, target should be met. The final target weights for this broilers will be 4kg at 9 weeks.
Really impressive....
My birds(Arbor Acre) are 14 days old....
And are within range of 420g - 450g....
Self Formulated feed ....
Supported by 7 liquid feeds (KNF)
Target is 2kg in 35 Days... Hope I can achieve this .....

Cost of expensive spare parts...
Cost of maintenance and servicing...
Agbero taxes and park taxes...
Police, FRSC etc miscellaneous charges...
Even if you are driving, u cant guarantee you will work 365 days in a year....
Delay period in the park....
Annual Insurance charges...
Most Naija cars dont have insurance.. the owner bear repairs where there is accident.....
It takes average of 2 years to recoup your investment on a car on the road...
I can assure you by the end of that second year....
Expenses to maintain the car as a result of wear and tear from bad roads.......
Will almost be at par with the revenue.....

My elder. I honour you Sir

Happy Sunday Boss

Do you remember our last discussion on this where I spoke about data analytics. And why businesses fail is because they don't keep data or pay attention to them. Can we both quickly make a few case studies here on a few businesses and projected figures Sir?
The danfo driver will make over 40% annually even with a cheap Nigerian grade car Sir
Fx Managements can make over 40% annually with low risk Sir
Roasting plantains and grounut will rake in over 40% annually Sir
Zobo production will rake in over 40% annually Sir
Grountnut roasting will rake in over 40% annually Sir
Pure water sales will rake in over 40% annually Sir
MeSuya will rake in over 40% annually Sir
Keke Marwa repays back same year, Korope as well. And will continue to be in business which implies profitable net returns annually Sir
Cocoa farmer
Palm oil dealer
Cashew farmer
Sales of eggs
Sales of plantain
Broiler processing and poultry
Ugwu and vegetable sales
Food vendor
Bread sales
Convenience stores/Supermarket
If a business doesn't keep operational books intact and review its data analytics, it can't and won't make optimum impact Sir.

I know about the Zimbabwean farmers who were brought in during OBJs tenure
Never heard of maize sold at 40,000 Naira per ton my entire life
I own a farm tech company and let me share a secret. Even if I bought maize at 125,000 Naira per ton, and buy like ten thousand tons, I'll still churcn out over 500% after ive channeled it into productive use
Let's rather not passout information that isn't theoritized thoroughly. I'll be producing eggs, meat, milk, yoghurt and poultry and my comprehensive report doesn't states all these negativities you've highlighted so far. Plus I worked in varieties of agro producing companies before now that are still functional and productive. All these are fear talks bro that inhibits practice
Our banking system is flawed which is why they will only lend oil company service firms or salary earners because they don't want to be held responsible in the event of loss of ffunds which NDIC and CBN in a healthy environs should be responsible for.
Do you recall why firms have R and D departments, why hypothesis and experiments are important and countries invest highly in it? Because there's a measure of exploring that may not be productive at a time but hold critical immense value.
So I recommend not to experiment personal funds with people but on ourselves. Let's setup businesses, try new things, fail and stand back up than to whine and look for exactness before we make a move, its multiple shades of wrong. Of father Abraham or the faithfuls waited for God to show them everything before they made a move, they would never have achieved anything.
Since investor funds are insured, and the flow of funds through multiple streams like payment stamps avails, our financial institutions need to lean less on the exactness posture. I hate seeing many young men carry blueprints but have no where to turn to for funding for their dreams. Its painful.
I manage my sisters mini supermarket
My.in-laws supply chain business
A friends logistics business
My brother, people are succeeding if we fold up our sleeves.
Fear ke.... Haba
We dont use that word in bizness...
We call it risk....
If the risk outweigh the benefit .. you cancel the project...... basic risk analysis...
Thats what banks do....
If you have lost millions of naira and life savings doing business in Nigeria.....
You will not have the luxury of experiments and hypothesis...
I wish you well....

I'm a producer setting up my own manufacturing plant after working over time for people. Its not as you painted here. This is just here says Sir
Break it down you'll see there's massive profits in each chain of the sector let alone have them in combination under a single umbrella Sir. Of things are that bad why do we have boli sellers doing businesses for years, printers, pure water sellers, food sellers
Find the intelligent coefficient of how businesses are sustained and not complain is what we should do. Didn't Nairaland grow from Nigeria? And so many other businesses thriving here?
Ive personally engaged in the setup of 15 businesses all succeeded except for friends who sabotaged my efforts. Guess what I'm setting up three companies now at the same time with personal funds, yet we're in a negative society. We can do better than whine and complain Sir. People do businesses daily.
Hearsay...whine and complain ..... Haba !
Google Zimbabwe farmers in Ilorin and read their story...... its on the net....
I expect you to ask basic questions.... not all these boli sellers, pure water stuffs analysis...
Why is the CBN Governor forcing banks to lend to entrepreneurs, individual and startups ?
Why are banks running away from lending to the real sectors & and yet give loan to salary folks...
Simple ...those banks knows that that they might not get their capital and interest back from entrepreneurs individual and new start up....
Check the books...their huge non performing loans shows the same trend....
If businesses are doing well..... then bizs are likely to employ....
Since jobs are largely created by the private sector.....
Check Nigeria unemployment rate with NBS..... we have a steady increase since 2016 till date....
Thats a basic indication that bizs are not doing well......
Even those that are collecting loans from banks are investing in Treasury Bills.........
You are in the Agric line ...... a simple analysis is here for you.....
It cost =N=40,000 to import a tonne of maize from India to Nigeria.....
And yet our Nigerian farmers will produce the same tonne of maize btwn =N=100,000.00 to =N=125,000.00
Assuming you are owner of a manufacturing feedmill outfit that uses maize as a major input...
Pls tell me how you intend to compete with a competitor that import maize from India at =N=40,000 per ton....

Its the exactness in expectations that stifles the ability to explore and break into new frontiers which many businesses never break into. Giving this ordeal, Nigerians don't know how to do business. That's why industries don't make budget for R & D, cause we all believe in exactness and see no need for experimentation with the results of the hypothetical experience as the gains. I'm the C.e.o of an agritech company, ive spent over 10 years carrying my research to people to invest in, but thank God today, I found a few faithfuls who chose to dare next year watch out for my brand. cheesy
The Nigerian value chain is too chaotic....
Go and read the story of the Zimbabwe farmers that came to Nigeria.....
Most of them left Nigeria as the business environment is too hostile....
The few ones that came back is into broiler business...
And they owned the whole value chain...
From Hatchery... Day Old .....Feeds.... Abattoir, cold room & deliver to consumer directly....
Its difficult to go into business that have 5% chances of survival....
I rather keep my money safe than waste it in the name of doing business
If CBN shut down TBills... we will move to FGN Savings Bonds, FGN Bonds and CP.....

Rafiq2:
The government aside, Nigerians are not patriotic, Majority are greedy & selfish to d extent they can destroy their fellow countrymen for money. We are special breed of humans that things won't exactly work the normal way for us.

Nigerians need seriously suffering before they fix stuff affecting them. So the border should remain closed & just give us 365 maximum & we will be overly sufficient in rice production.

The funny thing is Nigeria is blessed with EVERYTHING A COUNTRY NEEDS TO SUCCEED, BUT WE ARE CURSED WITH SELFISH LEADERS WHO ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES.

The border should remain closed!
If the border remained closed for 365 days maximum...
You will hear that one big man from Katsina/Kano linked to PMB is now going into local production of rice....
The BigMan will start importing foreign rice and repackaging it as local..
Closing the border is not the solution to self sufficiency...
Make the cost of production of rice low by fixing the bottlenecks along the value chain is the solution...
Importing rice will die a natural death....
FoodRe: Nigerian Rice: A Call For Better Rice Mills by Willie2015: 9:37am On Oct 16, 2019
DaudaAbu:
how can we produce enough if we dont close the border? Its like the question of the chicken or the egg, which comes first?

Moreover, the border closure has nothing to do with banning rice. Rice has been banned for long. its only smugglers that are having a field day smuggling it in. Moreso once the smuggling continue people would not be serious in increasing the cultivation because there wont be the demand fot it.
Cost of production of rice is too high in Nigeria...
Our products are not competitive ....
Thats the general problem of Agric value chain in Nigeria.....
Thats the reason our local rice can,t compete with foreign rice....
Let FG fix the rice value chain for a bag of 50kg local rice to go for btn N5000 and N6000 at retail prices.....
We will all abandon foreign rice that goes for N17,000 plus....
There will be no motivation to smuggle rice ....foreign rice will have a natural death....
Border control can only last for a while ....and we are back to status quo again...
PoliticsRe: Soldier Shares A Video From An Encounter With Boko Haram Terrorists In Borno by Willie2015: 6:19pm On Oct 09, 2019
Psalm2423:
That's an ambush, it's hard to escape from an ambush. If they don't shoot, they'll die. If they shoot, they'll have a chance of survival. grin

Since the military is now charging soldiers for retreating, you don't expect them to run away, right? And you can't gather fast in an open field. The best thing is to duck and shoot, but you can only duck and survive when you're the attacker, which in this case they're not. Las Las, corruption is the cause of that situation. In a sane country with a functioning air force, you cannot stay up to 2 hours in battle without getting support.

If you also look at that video, the military has just one RPG, which is a shame, and the one mounting it always switches to his AK47 (1998 version grin). It's like they're prepared to die. So let's not blame tactics on this one, they didn't have time to prepare (the trucks there should be enough to let you know that this was an unexpected fight), and they're ill equipped. Foot soldiers don't fight in open fields, that's a task for tanks and jet fighters plus heavy artillery sometimes.
Tks for this piece...
I live in the North for some years...
Its a difficult terrain to fight using the Army conventional style...
U need to be trained in guerilla warfare ..... battled hardened...
U need to be on the offensive, hit and run tactics and relentless pursuit ..... using bush tracker...
fighting Day and Night.....U need to have air support .....
the NA lack all these qualities .....
Why cant the Buhari hire Private Mercenaries to deal with Boko Haram than using a standing army ....
It is cheaper and effective.. an example is the 72 mobile strike force and Barlow success during the Jonathan Admin.....
Its all about greed and money to be made from military contracts....

I normally tell people that a young man having in his mind to build a property to live in just to be called 'landlord' is archaic. You will hear some people say 'na rent i go die put'. I believe property is worth it when it is an estate with several flats.

I live in a 6 flats compound. Four of us that are the early occupants pay our rents constantly. The Landlord then saw that as a weakness and opportunity to exploit and started increasing rent anyhow. He was trying to increase our rent to catch up with the new tenants. One flat became vacant and it took 6 months to get a new tenant. The rent of the new tenant expired and has not been able to finish paying and now another rent is due. Another flat became vacant and it took 9 months to get an occupant. We were now surprised when the landlord gave us an increase for the next year rent and it was just between 8-10%. This is somebody that will wake up and do 40% and say 'anybody that does not want to pay should pack out'. Iam sure he was now starring at the prospects of 4 flats being vacant as we had already made up our minds that if he does his 30-40% again, we will pack out. A tenant is still owing part of a year with another year due. The new tenant is yet to complete agency and agreement fee.

The upfront interest from my TB pays my one year rent with some good change to flex whereas the capital would not have built me a bungalow in the same area. I no come Lagos come build house. Na money i come make for Lagos.
There is nothing archaic in a young man first building a property to live.....
It is the first law of investment ...... if you can afford it ....
You can save the rentage cash and use it in other investment vehicles over the years...
No one will ever tell you that TBills has its own bad days too...

And you concluded the young man was impatient and yearning for instant gratification because he took his lifehuh People are depressed for several reasons and not necessarily because of riches and gold, you might never have to deal with his circumstances in this lifetime and will never understand how losing an entire family can take a toll on a naive young man's state of mind, So stop referencing fascinating stories culled from the bible and ponder on the reality the young lad had to contend with.
You dont kill yourself......When you know you have a higher purpose in life.....
You get that consciousness by moving closer to God....thats the only way out of depression... .irrespective of any reasons....`..
There is no one in this world without circumstances.... problems....challenges .......afflictions....etc
Young,old,poor, rich, adults......etc
God never promised us a free problem world.........but promised we will not be alone....
I had my own fair share of afflictions....... it was the hand of God and the Bible that kept me alive....
So sad to see adults calling the bible fascinating stories.....
I will leave you with the quote of Mahatma Ghandi about the Bible...
“You Christians look after a document containing enough dynamite to blow all civilisation to pieces, turn the world upside down and bring peace to a battle-torn planet. But you treat it as though it is nothing more than a piece of literature.”

Joseph was sold into slavery at age 17....
Became a ruler at age 30.....
Moses left Egypt into the wilderness around age 40....
Came back to led Gods people out of Egypt by age 80...
David was an adolescent when he was commissioned as king....

Life often follows a sequence of promise, excitement, waiting, doubtful, testing, refining, reinforcement and eventual fulfillment
Instant gratification and impatience have become hallmarks of our society.

Joseph waited over 13 years before his prophetic promise was fulfilled.
Moses waited 40 years before he had his divine encounter with the flaming voice of God.
David waited and waited in his cave as an exile until he took the crown and the throne.
Jesus waited 30 years before he heard the voice that commissioned Him for His public ministry.
